Thoughts and review about Watching and dreaming

(The actual review is in the second part of the post. This review doesn't intend to be "critical" in the fandom meaning of the word. It shouldn't be taken as a complaint or an objective statement about the quality of the show. Criticism [in good faith] is my way of interacting with stories. It's fun!)

Ok, I'm finally over my disappointment with the lack of Wittebros content in the finale. I was salty at first. Now I realize the reaction is unwarranted.

However I still disagree Caleb and Evelyn story is better left unsaid. Yeah it's unnecessary to explain everything and a whole detailed flashback would take away the ambiguity, but it still felt as if something was missing. Like, Evelyn and Caleb are no Rose Quartz. A character need to have more of a presence to truly "haunt the narrative". This aspect of the story doesn't hit the same unless you're invested in the fandom (thus being aware of all the Hollow mind portraits being released on twitter and theories. It doesn't paint the same story picture without all of them). In short, Wittebro subplot gave some depth to Belos, was seemingly building toward something yet it fell flat.

Although it doesn't take away much from the show. More lore would have been good, but it's absence isn't a flaw. I guess that I had a different view of the role served by the Wittebanes-Clawthornes subplot in the narrative. I approached it as an individual character study of Belos (which is why I felt his character arc was incomplete without more info on Caleb), but the crew probably meant for it to be understood in a larger context. Ultimately, the Owl House is story a about building a community, growing as a marginalized person and fighting back against bigotry. The finale handled it's core themes well.

After watching the finale, my friend commented that he loved King's father lines about Belos, because it highlighted the fundamental difference between fighting for your own marginalized community against bigotry vs the hypocrisy of those oppressing others under false concerns ("exposing children to drag/lgbt media is grooming", "critical race theory is an attack on white people", etc.). Which is a really a good point!

Personally, King's dad comments are more interesting from this perspective, because otherwise it's a bit easy to entirely dismiss the debate on the morality of violence. Especially considering how the show presented Luz as a foil to Belos. Obviously Luz was right and needed to be reassured, but there's also value in interrogating oneself on the use violence and punishment (even with the mindset that bigoted ideologies aren't worth debating). It would have been more rewarding if those questions were explored sooner, aside of Luz guilt, with the Titan comments as the show final stance. I think it's more powerful to acknowledge that both characters are deeply human and may have certain things in common, YET they're also very different. Their motivations could have started from a similar place without the same intent. It's the way you act that matter after all. I don't know, Belos being a vainglorious hypocrite doesn't automatically dismiss Luz concerns for me.

There's still some writing decisions that I've found disappointing, but overall I enjoyed Watching and Dreaming. It was well done considering all the executive meddling from Disney. Special mention to the timeskip: all the designs were amazing! (By any chance, does anybody know a shirt similar to the purple one worn by Luz? I may do a cosplay one day...)

The animation was a feast for the eyes. The battles, Luz death and her sinking in the in-between world were particularly well done!

The Titans lore: if the Titan magic doesn't work on the Archivist, does it suggest that it come from the same source? How long has the Collectors known the Titan race? Lot of ideas to play with

Eda being headmaster of the new wild magic university. She finally transformed the education system that ostracized her and many others into an inclusive one. The show nuance well the idea of being a "rebel". How the trope is viewed as lifestyle choice when in reality people are often first pushed to the margins by society.

Stuff that I found meh

The nightmare sequence: it was too short and didn't bring anything new. We already know those characters hang up. Since it didn't lead to any realization on their part, what was the point? In my opinion, it didn't play enough with the psychological horror aspect to be worth it in itself.

Kaiju belos: it's cool but rather generic and impersonal? I'm under the impression that many shows did it before. He reminded me of Steven Universe corrupted form. The titan corpse possession is great, but a more interesting design(not sure if it's the right term) could have been used for it's outward manifestation.

The anime-ish battle: personal opinion, but it's cooler when protagonist use their regular skills in battle. Luz use of written glyphs is her trademark and a demonstration of her cleverness. The laser magic beams was again generic (I felt the same when Eda and Lilith fought each other in season 1). Nonetheless, it was entertaining and exciting to watch.

Titan luz: love the outfit but not the execution. The whole cast was sidelined hard. It undermines the idea of "weirdos sticking together" and sharing your burden/responsibilities (which was Luz main flaw). Yes Luz was able to live her fantasy and be empowered, but it didn't feel as significant compared to the isles population fighting back against their dictator. I just wish the rest of the cast had played a bigger role.

The Titan guiding Luz all this time: the one thing I genuinely hated. It backtracks the show deconstruction of the Chosen One (which isn't a bad trope in itself tho). Luz finding by herself the glyphs because she's smart and respectful of the Boiling Isles culture was a strong parallel to Philip colonialist-mindset. His belief that his failure to find all the glyphs was because of an external force was a demonstration that he couldn't consider himself responsible for any of his shortcomings. In the end, they were two regular people who made different choices. Sure the Titan tell Luz that he choose her now because of her kindness and give her a choice, but it still diminish her agency in hindsight.

The collector being completely innocent in regard to the Titans genocide. Completely throws out any nuances the character had. All the interesting conflict with King just ceased to exist in favor of misunderstandings. It's a pretty jarring revelation considering how he used to act in season 2. It's fine for the Collector to be a child that doesn't know better on paper. It's not so much the concept that's bothersome, than how he went from an amoral alien trickster to "innocent child that can't tell right from wrong at all". Like what was the point of the character this late in the show if Belos is the main villain? There's a middle ground where the Collector could have some responsibility concerning the Titans disappearance while retaining their childlike naivety (using his power on the Titan will not understanding truly what death is, calling the Archivists for help during a conflict then regretting it, etc.).

Anyway that may seems like a lot of negatives, but it's doesn't ruin the story or anything. It's mostly nitpicking at this point.

In the end, I enjoyed the show a lot. I'd give WAD a solid 7.5/10. It was good, but other "finale" episodes like King's Tide and Yesterday's lie were stronger in my opinion.

My sibling, who is an anime only said they would not be surprised if BKDK became canon considering the depth of their relationship, their interactions, and their character development regarding each other ... despite how Bones added in Izuocha scenes and cut out some critical BKDK moments in most of the seasons so far... And, seeing how one-sided the "love" is between Izuocha, which I believe is deep admiration as of reading the manga- I have to say I agree.

Izuocha, is fine on the surface but is unhealthy. Izuku would not pay attention to Ochaco they he would need to if they were in a relationship. And Ochaco only saw "Hero Deku" rather than all of "Izuku", which would cause her to unknowingly encourage Izuku's reckless self-sacrificial behavior.

BKDK is different because not only they know each other beyond the surface level, but they also have their sights on each other and the mere presence of their partner inspires them to become better and stronger people at heart because they have genuine love for each other...

I honestly do not understand what is in the Dudebros' mind other the fact that they are lacking emotional intelligence and critical thinking... but I will just enjoy what they are missing. (Sorry for rambling...)

I actually really enjoyed Season 6. The only thing I faulted Bones for, was creating that jarring opening that made out like Ochaco was the hero of the retrieve vigilante Deku mission (which sadly only fueled izuochas more on mhatwt), when it was 1000% Katsuki's doing and there is one panel which proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

He was even so worried he lost sleep over it, wondering where Izuku was, if he was okay… he must have stayed awake in bed, thinking and thinking about Izuku and how he could get him back. Katsuki was used to Izuku being by his side, and it was the first time Izuku had willingly left it. It provided him clarity about how important* Izuku was in his life, which only made him worry even more. (*see also: crucial, vital, imperative, watch me emotionally die slowly inside if you aren't around me anymore.)

Katsuki losing sleep, at a time Izuku was not sleeping was such a symbiotic soul mates power move Hori added in for flavour. I love it SOOO freaking much. But with that said, though Bones really dropped the ball on the opening (and 5 previous seasons...*ahem*), there were a lot of curious changes that happened in season 6 that I did love, like Izuku dropping the "tachi" in his sentence which turned his line into "He hurt the person I love…" (instead of people)

and as we saw more of these additional changes Bones made, it got us wondering, did Hori have some regrets with the manga that he was unhappy about and wanted their romance to be more obvious? Was it only natural to get anime viewers up to speed before season 7, because they were going to find out through manga spoilers that Katsuki and Izuku are actually in love? I'd like to think so.

Changes I remember off the top of my head:

Reaching out for little Izuku's hand during Katsuki Bakugou Rising

Katsuki waking up and thinking "Deku…" and remembering his Rising sacrifice and being still hurt from it.

Izuku waiting until he was in Katsuki's arms before he apologised, which made their words of "I'm sorry" and "I know" more intimate and personal to each other. Like Izuku needed Katsuki's forgiveness the most, and Katsuki needed to let Izuku feel that he understands him the most.

Izuku's little "Ka-..." (the English dub did not catch it but I know other dubs did) as he was passing out, which made the entire hug scene feel so much more romantic.

"I'm gonna say your name when I wake up" vs "I'm gonna say your name when I fall asleep." BkDk: Always on each other's minds. All the time.

And one of the most interesting changes of all…

So get this, Ochaco gets a hand hold grab in the opening which canon-wise holds about as much weight as an "illustration" … and in the actual anime content, she grabs his wrist area instead of his hand like in the manga. Making her hand hold IN THE CANON CONTENT so impersonal. Almost as if to make up for the horrible opening they made. Why this was done still remains a mystery to us today… but I hope it's because Horikoshi asked them to make Izuocha stop being seen like a couple, and more like the friends they are.

And then, about the "brothers" "friends" comments antis love to make about bkdk. Well yeah, they're coping. In fact, Hori has shied away from labeling them friends several times when he could have! "Midoriya-kun is our friend" says Iida - with multiple people from the class, including Ochaco, presented in the panel… and Katsuki is nowhere to be found.

Or like when sAFO called Katsuki "Izuku's closest person" (motto mo naka ga ii) where it would have been WAY more natural to call him "shinyu," aka, "best friend." But that's the thing, Hori runs away from calling them friends like it's the plague LMAO

Really makes you wonder… was sAFO (I'd rather just call it AFO at this point because it's his personality being dominant vs Katsuki) alluding to hidden romantic feelings Izuku hides for Katsuki that his secret gaydar quirk picked up? Could be. In a way, at the time it happened, it felt to me like Horikoshi himself was talking to us through him, telling us very explicitly, "You're damn right. They're gay."

Either way, skirting around this label for them is being done on purpose by Hori. Like his hidden way of saying "Yeah they might be acting a bit more like the best friends they were always meant to be as kids, but their feelings for each other are not 'friendly' AT ALL. Because platonic friendship is not where these two are headed." And there are STILL hidden feelings they haven't managed to say to each other yet! The content Horikoshi has been itching to draw for YEARS that he is finally getting to. All that soft bkdk romance we've been waiting for is coming SO SOON!!! and I am HERE for it anon! 🔥

Hey nos, please could you start tagging your atla critical posts so I can blacklist them? You do post some good points occasionally, but the sheer bitterness is getting a bit much for me.

This is fascinating to me for a number of different reasons. The first of which is that I'm honestly kind of baffled by what it even means, because I don't...really engage with fandoms in "pure praise" mode. Ever. My brain doesn't work like that. I took too many media studies classes in university for my brain to work like that; there's always part of my brain engaging critically with every piece of media I interact with and I can't shut it off. And the longer I pick and prod at it, the longer I can engage with it and think critically about it, the more interested in the media I am.

This brings me to another reason this is fascinating to me, because I think if you're picking up on bitterness, Anon, it's not coming from where you think. I actually very much like AtLA. I like it in spite of, and some times because of, its flaws. I like the fact that I can see the bones of a great story, see the flaws where things could be better, where the things they got absolutely right still hold up all these years later.

Where the bitterness and frustration comes from is with some areas of fandom's tendency to sand down those edges and flaws instead of engaging with them or throwing them into high relief. To ignore the flaws and pretend they don't exist because it makes them uncomfortable and unhappy.

(Okay, maybe some bitterness is from how Actual Human Disaster Child Azula was treated for a long-ass time, I'll cop to that.)

I like the canon Morally Ambiguous But Trying to Be Better Uncle Iroh over Saint Iroh.

I like the canon Angry Ball of Rage and Actually Kind of a Jackass Zuko over Never Did Anything Wrong In His Life Sad Zuko.

And I'd fist-fight a god for Aang, actual child and actual genocide survivor.

which is why i'm confused that jk biased jkkers (as that anon said even ones that are critical and weird towards jimin) were also upset with the way jk was acting. if it was just jm biased jkkers and solos, i could see it as people using jk for a ship and not liking/supporting him if he steps out of that "perfect boyfriend" and "jm's caretaker" narrative that isn't true or at least isn't ALL he is, but JK BIASED twisting his intentions and actions? that's just crazy....

idk if it's people now seeing jikook (and more so jk) outside of edits and fics or just taekook interacting, but it needs to stop before people become even worse jk (and tae/taekook) antis

i'd love to look at the jikook tag after a ays episode without being made to feel like i'm insane or "supporting bullying and abuse" 😭

there's a few things going on here.

like i mentioned, jm solo narratives permeate this part of fandom. it sucks, but it is what it is, and unfortunately these people tend to flock together, creating an echo chamber that can look to those outside of it as a popular opinion or consensus. the infantilizing of jm is not only maddening, but deeply disrespectful, and if these people really loved him, they wouldn't be doing it.

people are far too impressionable. this goes hand in hand with the first point, but people are swayed extremely easily and the more they see the same sort of opinion, the more they convince themself that the opinion is right. when ays episode 1 first dropped, the first few hours were peaceful and it was clear that the majority of people came away with a positive feeling. once a couple of negative opinions got posted, people started to latch onto that negativity, letting other people's feelings tarnish their experience, and soon it was all over the tag. jk was being weird, distant, uncaring, mean, etc.

the seedier people in this fandom feel vindicated whenever someone says some nasty opinion about a member/ship they dislike and it prompts them to get louder. think about how much more outspoken bigots get when they think they're around like minded people. every single time a shitty take gets posted, be that an original post or an anon message, more people feel that it's okay to also be shitty. this happened bad when tae was announced to be joining jkk in jeju. the tae antis were suddenly all over the damn tag like cockroaches. 🥾🪳

i do think there is a lot of people who are being forced to contend with the fact that jkk are not story book characters living a sacharrine sweet perfect fantasy life where all they do is cuddle and sing each other's praises. sorry to break it to these people (i'm not), but jm and jk are very real people who are a lot more complex than that. they are going to tease and joke and complain and argue and all the rest of the stuff that every other person does. they are also not going to be in the same mood 24/7 and that too is going to affect how they behave and interact. there is nothing concerning about how jkk (or vmk) have interacted on ays so far, let alone something that constitutes the label of abuse. that accusation actually pissed me off beyond belief, because abuse isn't a fucking term to throw around over someone being jokingly sprayed with water.

my best advice to anyone at this point is to use that block button freely and curate a good fandom space for yourself and others. and also just to remember that vmk love each other dearly and no amount of sad internet hate is going to change their reality.

“Go.” Regulus commanded. Kreacher disappeared and Regulus was alone. Alone and dying from the Dark Lord’s cruel potion.

He ached in every limb. The burning spread throughout his body and his head was boiling. 

Where his eyes open? He couldn’t tell. Everything was so dark.

His throat. It hurt. It hurt. It was itching. No, it felt raw like a scraped knee. He needed something. What did he need?

Something cool and wet touched his fingers. Wet. Water.

He needed water.

Water.

Water.

There. He was already touching it. His hand was submerged in the lake.

He scrambled. Desperate.

Water.

He felt it. On his face. In his mouth. Down his throat.

Oh the water. So lovely.

His wrists were wet. His head. The back of his neck.

His shoulders.

His chest.

It wasn’t just water. There was something else on him. Grabbing him.

Pulling Him.

He was weightless. No crystals pressing into his knees.

His lungs burned. He needed to breathe. He expanded his chest.

And water rushed down his throat, into his lungs. No. No.

He struggled. But something-someone stopped him. He tried to shake the hands off, but they wouldn’t let go. Then more hands joined. He felt their slimy skin against his.

This wasn’t exactly what he expected to happen, but this wasn’t any worse than the potion.

He stopped struggling.

There was a sharp blast of light and heat and the hands left him. Alone. Then he was gone.

This was actually really fun to write cuz it's just Regulus' thoughts and nothing else. So I was kind of writing nonsense but I think it works.

I also want to mention that I changed my blog rules (? I don't know what to call it). When I first started posting it felt very personal and I didn't want to deal with any criticism whether it was good or bad. Now I feel a lot more confident with all the amazing interactions I've had. So I'd love to hear any feedback you might have especially headcanons or theories on this series (cuz I need ideas).

BOUNDARIES

I know this is uncommon for me to make a post like this, but I feel that it needs to be done. I'd like to establish a few boundaries. I will be briefly mentioning some sensitive topics.

First, my askbox. That is open to mostly everything. My AUs, your AUs, myself or even yourself, I do not care. I really enjoy interacting with everyone ^^ However, please keep in mind that I am a little sensitive, and I am a softie at heart. I do not take criticism very well. If it is about my stories, then either DM me, or keep it to yourself. If it is about my behavior and something I need to fix, then please do call me out. I want to change and improve for the better, but I am only human. I do have flaws and I have feelings.

That being said, I am fine with discussing any kind of topic in media. And yes, I mean any. I can stomach quite a bit and I don't mind having a fair, respectful conversation about darker topics in stories. However that does absolutely not mean you can send me stuff about your experiences with those subjects. I do not know you. I struggle with my own mental health and truama; I write what I write as a coping mechanism and I am not here to deal with your problems too. Talk to a friend, a trusted family member, or a therapist if you are struggling. Do not talk to somebody on the internet you only know via their fanworks.

Just in case: when it comes to sexual topics, that can be a little iffy for me. I'm not the biggest fan of sexual subjects or jokes. One or two here occasionally are fine, but keep in mind that on this blog, the DRV3 cast are minors. I will not tolerate the sexualization of kids. If it's an adult then go for it I guess but otherwise, let's try to keep sexual subjects to the absolute minimum.

As suggested by my friend, fanart/fics/inspiration. I write a lot of fanfiction so already the characters and base story I write with are not mine, but in regards to works based on my AUs/fics, I will say this. I do not mind if you draw something based off my fics, or if you write something on it yourself. I would just like to be tagged so I can see it, because I really enjoy seeing what everyone makes. So long as you tag it with the proper warnings, go wild. All I ask is that your works stay within reason and remain respectful to the darker subjects of my or your work. As far as inspiration goes, please, go right ahead! It makes me happy knowing you liked one of my ideas enough to do something with it yourself. Go wild and have fun!

My all time favorite character is Fox, and he's like a little black dress for me - goes with any(one/thing). But I'm particularly fond of Quinlan/Fox, Bacara/Fox and various smaller ones.

Oh man. Probably who Wants To Live Forever.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh...I dunno, really. I guess....maybe....dialogue?

I often feel like I use too few words. Like I shortchange scenes? I also struggle with endings things a lot of the time. As in, finding a fitting end.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I'm a big fan of putting in like, tidbits - especially pet names, or things I feel are particularly important to the person talking, but I don't think I'd ever do a full dialogue like this.

hi everyone 😁 this is my blog for my hazbin hotel rewrite, purgatory hotel! I post updates on Instagram under the username purgatory_hotel. there's a mini hiatus since I'm working on finishing the first chapter then uploading it bit by bit

for as long as I've known about it, hazbin hotel hasn't really entered my mind like. at all. until the show came out. this is because I kept seeing other people's reimagining of these characters and so I got invested (and also I recognised Keith David so I decided to watch it 😭)

I don't really like the show to be honest. some bits made me laugh but it wasn't really my cup of tea, although the concept itself is good!

Time, boredom, depression and watching Stargate Atlantis for the first time and catching feels for McShep.

❌ What's a trope you will never write?

I can't imagine ever writing an omegaverse fic. I would have said high school/collage AUs, but I did write a Laura & Rodney teen fic that had a high school setting. Probably a one off though.

I have written a halloween fic, a christmas fic, and another christmas fic. Holidays are good inspo. I think I have a couple of unfinished valentine's wips in a folder somewhere I should look at.

There's some very cool podfic covers of some of my fics that rock my socks!

🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

Shorter ones just happen, but if they start to expand or I already know they're multichap or a series then I definitely make a plan. Plans change a lot though because sometimes when I write it goes off in an unexpected direction.

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

Just write. A crap draft can be edited, a blank page can't. Start with the idea that's burning in your mind. Expand on it later, in both directions if you want.

There's a tumblr post going around that says if you are stuck in a scene, go back a few lines, the problem is there, I've found that to be true more often than not.

Sometimes a story is just a single scene, and that's enough. I wrote an OFMD fic that I intended to be a 5+1, but ended up posting as a oneshot instead and it was better for that choice than it ever could have been if I'd struggled on.

🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?

Hard to say. I get immmense satisfaction in finishing a fic. Sharing it is nervewracking, but if a few people kudos I'm thrilled. We all want validation on some level. 10 kudos and I stop worrying!

🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?

Genres aren't so much a problem for me, I'm up for most things. Some are easier than others, like angst and whump and fluff, but there's nothing I think of as a struggle. The things I struggle with a more grammatical than thematic.

💥 How do you feel about criticism?

I get asked that a lot so I wrote a thing on my AO3 page.

Most of the "concrit" I've had has been bigotry, and I'm sure everyone already knows my tolerence for that. If something's posted, I'm pretty much done with it, except when I go back and reread it after posting and find a dozen typos that did not exist in my final draft!

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? All of my fics tend to have happy endings! I like to tie everything up in a little bow and only recently have I been learning some open-ended restraint. My personal favourite is DWOHT when Euphemia finally gets her (first) grandkid. I found it very amusing since she'd been hounding them for so long!

Do you get hate on fics? Not on a regular basis! I've had some gentle and invited criticism when I played @annabtg brave game. Do you write smut. If so, what kind? YES!!!! I am THE SMUT FAIRY!! Most of my fics have smut and I've written a few plotless porn fics as well. As for what kind...mostly vanilla and tame SO FAR! I should really write something more kinky.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Nope! I'm not interested in crossovers. Unlikely I will ever write one! I certainly like to base Lily and James in situations from other universes, but don't want Lily and James to interact with the characters.

Have you ever had a fic translated? I have not! There's one regular commenter who leaves all her thoughts in Spanish and I adore that because I get to practice, but that's about as close as I've come LOL!

Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Yes! It's both an enjoyable and exhausting process for me (mostly enjoyable because I keep coming back for more LOL)! My first was with @charmsandtealeaves (Stripped Back To Basics). I'm currently writing with @wearingaberetinparis 👀 Her brain works at an insane pace, but as I am a mere mortal you'll have to wait until my semester finishes before there's any chance of us publishing! 😂

What are your writing weaknesses? Proofreading LOL! Drawing things out! Putting my characters through too much pain! I'm going to be so much better at it after my collab with @wearingaberetinparis because she's an actual angst genius!

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? Meh...I suppose if it makes sense, but I'd probably only bother with a language I know, otherwise, it would be quite tedious and out of place.

I have posted 21 works, though I very recently deleted one of them because I had initially put it up as an Evil Author Day offering and it's been reshaped enough since then that I felt it was time to let the old version go. Plus, I'd initially meant for it to be part one of a three-part arc, and that arc has since changed to feature a different pairing entirely, so...

I'm a "one at a time" kind of writer, so right now, only Teen Wolf. In the past, under a few separate names, I've written for BtVS and Angel, HP, KH, SPN, Heroes, and I was just getting started on Inception when I had to take a break from writing.

Do you respond to comments?

Every single one of them. It may take me months to do so, but every comment brings me joy, and some of my most treasured fandom moments/connections have come from comment interactions.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't think I have a fic that ends in angst. At the moment, Wish You Were Here might fit this bill because I've only posted the first chapter and it's about avoiding dealing with the unexpected death of a loved one. There was one I wrote for Heroes, back in the day, that was solely about Peter burning his mother alive, so yeah, that probably qualifies--it's not on AO3, though.

Do you get hate on fics?

Not so much hate, no, but every once in a while a comment might criticize a character's actions or make suggestions on how they personally would've written a scene, etc. Any outright hate I've ever received for my fics has come from a site other than AO3.

Do you write smut?

Almost exclusively. Nearly every time I'm drafting out a fic for Teen Wolf, particularly when it's Sterek, I'll have a "then sex if there's time for it" note, and Derek barges in with that determined "I'll make time" face, so...

Craziest crossover:

So... uh... the entire reason I started writing fanfic again was because I got smacked in the face with a crossover/fusion idea for Teen Wolf and Skyrim. Other than that, Teen Wolf and Fallout, Teen Wolf and Inception, Teen Wolf and Supernatural...

Once, years ago. It wasn't the entire fic, but it was a sizeable chunk of one, and the names had been changed for the "author's" chosen pairing/fandom, but apparently they liked my wording so much that they didn't feel the need to come up with their own.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes indeedy. Co-writing is one of my absolute favorite ways of writing. Co-creativity is my jam, the energy feeds me. I've written KH fic with @caseyvalhalla, and I've cowritten Teen Wolf fic with my not!wife, Anna. It is my hope to continue to do so with other people, should our visions/writing styles align. I've got one fic in particular that I think at this point is going to need a co-writer so I don't lose focus.

All time favourite ship?

Sterek. I adore many other ships, some of them hold a special place in my heart and I will always come back to read them, but Sterek is the one that gripped me over a decade ago and hasn't let me go since. Like @oldefashioned said, I think it's because I love the characters individually as much as I love them together.

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I still haven't actually verged into "doubt I ever will" territory yet, but two WIPs that have been begging to be finished for a while now are Wish You Were Here (Kingdom Hearts) and Light Up as If You Have a Choice (Dragon Age: Origins).

What are your writing strengths?

I don't know. Dialogue? Establishing a setting? That answer might require a survey from other people who actually bother to read my fics.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Not being able to move on until I have a scene "perfect." If I'm stuck on getting from Point A to Point B, I am mentally incapable of jumping ahead to Point C--it is Point B or Point Bust.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I tend to avoid it if the translation starts to read too much like an index, or like I'm writing a conversation twice over. However, if the other language is vital to the narrative (i.e. a character says something in a language they know the other person won't understand, etc.) then yes, I write it in that language, rather than something like, "'blah blah,' he said in Polish."

Depending on the fandom, Freaks and Fools was a Kingdom Hearts fic I co-wrote, and more recently, I'd have to say my favorite Teen Wolf fic to write is a toss-up between You Gotta Promise Not to Stop When I Say When and My Echo, My Shadow, and Me. Promise because it is just me writing myself via Stiles, wishing I had a Derek; Echo because I'd wanted to write an alternate version of season 3a for a while, and I finally got to do it, thanks to the Sterek Reverse Bang.
