My quick overview of Money in the Bank! Overall, it was a pretty good show. 7/10⭐
‼️MITB 2023 SPOILERS AHEAD‼️
So happy that Iyo won the women's match. Love her 💜 Zoey was my sleeper pick to 2 win but I don't quite think she's ready yet. Trish is making her better every week tho. Iyo and Bayley are gonna have some drama now. I know it! The handcuff spot ending was great! I loved the creativity. Zelina showed out with that Code Red from the top of the ladder. And all the ladies where serving this their gear. As they should.
Gunther kicked Riddles ass, as he should. The match was good and Gunther looked great as always. Drew coming back was the highlight of that segment. He and Gunther are gonna kick the crap out of one another soon. And I honestly see Drew as the one to dethrone Gunther. Perhaps with some help from The Brawling Brutes again since Vinci and Kaiser are still a factor.
Surprise ! John Cena showed up and hinted that Mania may be in London in the future. My Aussie husband Grayson showed up and he and Cena had a good promo battle. Possible Cena/Grayson match in the future?? Because I'd love to see that when Grayson's leg is good to go. Grayson had a killer shirt on as always. That's one more to add to my wardrobe when I've got money.
Finn and Seth put on a banger match. Kinda wished it was Demon! Finn tho. Judgment Day is so clearly gonna break up soon and I am all for it. Finn needs to be free of the shit Rhea and Dom have going on. So does Damian. Personally, I think that Finn should start tagging with JD McDonagh and Damian should get a singles run.
Not a huge Cody fan but he kicked Dom's annoying ass so yay Cody! The match was okay. I've always found Cody kinda eh. And Dom's character with Rhea is just annoying.
Didn't really care for the tag match until Shayna pulled a GOATED move and smacked Rhonda up. Hopefully this either means Rhonda is gonna be gone for a while or Shayna is gonna give her the work in a full match/fued. Also, I'm happy for Liv getting the belt back. Don't really care for Raquel 🫠
Bloodline Civil War was a great match! Jimmy and Jey both showed out and proved that Roman is slowly becoming irrelevant. Loved seeing my man Solo kick ass! (even if it was his bro's ass😭) That's my man and I can't wait for him to drop Roman and get back on the same page with his bros. Romans's time on top is coming to an end and I can't wait for him to drop the belts. I'm a shield stan for life. But that man has become so bland both with his promos and his in-ring work. It's time for someone else to have the belt and be on top. I 100% think that Jey should be the one to dethrone him. Poetic Justice if you will.
The men's ladder match was 🔥🔥🔥. Shoutout to my man Ricochet for putting Logan through that table with that amazing spot. Shinsuke and Butch both looked really solid in the match. Hopefully, they'll let Shin get more screen time. (also let Pat come back. I miss him jamming out to Shin's music) Logan was okay in the match. His ring work is getting better. He works well as a heel and I loved the boys all ganging up on him. (not a Logan hater. Just thought it was funny) Damian did solid work. He was my sleeper pick and I didn't mind him winning. Though my husband LA Knight should HAVE WON THE MATCH!! Triple H will be hearing from my therapist. Papa Trip hinted after the show that Knight is gonna get a push soon because of all the attention he's getting. I can see him going after Austin's US championship since Theory's run is dry as hell and it's about time he dropped the belt.
Extra random thoughts.
Wade Barrett looked fine as fuck in that pink blazer. I'm obsessed and in love 😍
The Sami and Kevin segment was great. Love my chaotic BFFs
Rhea needs to drop the title already. Cuz girl ain't doing shit with the locker room.
Asuka V Iyo outta be 🔥🔥

WWE Backlash 2023 - Predictions
It's been a while since I've done one of these, and I'd like to say I'm rusty but is it possible to rusty from predicitons? I can't remember the last time I made a predictions post, but that doesn't mean I haven't been keeping up wtih WWE. I believe the last time I did a predictions post was for Elimination Chamber a few years ago. I meant to do this for Wrestlemania, but I didn't get to so why not do it for their next pay per view Backlash. Taking place in Puerto Rico, WWE's Backlash looks to have seven big matches taking place so lets look at them and make some predictions. These are in no paticular order (Source) Matt Riddle, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso) (with Paul Heyman) - Roman Reigns hasn't been all that impressed with the results of the Uso's matches and I believe what Solo was ordered to do but couldn't was to attack the Uso's. Luckily for The Uso's, Matt Riddle stepped in and got in Solo's way. I believe that tonight The Bloodine will lose and Solo not only will attack them as retrobution, but this coming Friday on Smackdown Roman will address the situation stating it had to be done to put them back in line. The Uso's need to be reminded what they represent and what is expected of them. Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar - There has been this rumor going around that Cody Rhodes is recreating his fathers Hard Times story line and I really like it so I'm going to pick it up and say yes that's what they're doing. Brock isn't known for going for a long time in a match and Cody is pretty agile, so this may go for 10 minutes with a lot of pauses. Brock will do a lot of suplexes and slams, but you'll see him circle the ring and get his breath. Don't get excited if Cody makes a run for a minute or two, it will quickly be squashed by Brock and then he'll pin Cody for the win https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9py4aMK3aIU Rhea Ripley (with Dominik Mysterio) vs. Zelina Vega (with Rey Mysterio) - Usually you can tell what a match result will be by the result of the last time the wrestlers met. History has shown that if a wrestler wins on RAW or Smackdown before a pay per view, usually referred to as a go home show, they will lose at the pay per view. Rhea Ripley didn't technically win, Dom won against Rey and I don't think they'd strip the title from Rhea this soon after she won it at Wrestlemania. Zelina Vegas is in her home town, but I don't think that'll matter in this case. Rhea will win with the assistance of Dominik. Seth "Freakin" Rollins vs. Omos (with MVP) - This match came out of nowhere with no real reason for it to happen, except minor bragging rights. There's no title on the line and since I think Seth will win his tournament and head to Night of Champions to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship they'll let Omos win this match. Austin Theory vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Bronson Reed - This seems like a mixed bag of thrown together wrestlers that brings no interest is watching the match the way you would the others. This match is your bathroom break match and I think Austin Thoery will let Bobby and Bronson take eachother out so he can get an easy pin and win Bianca Belair vs. Iyo Sky (with Bayley and Dakota Kai) - I see cracks in Damage Control, but not to the point of breaking up at this moment. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez made an appearance to help Bianca on Smackdown so we know they're there, and they'll make another appearance at the pay per view sparking a storyline where Bayley and Dakota challenge them at Night of Champions for their Tag Team Championships. Bianca will win this one. Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest - I have come around a lot on Damian Priest and I really want him to get a push and get thrown in to a good story line. Bad Bunny, like Zelina Vega, is a hometown hero but in this case I think Bad Bunny will win. Both wrestlers can handle a decent length match and a street fight. It would be silly not to say that outside interactions will happen, because they will. The Judgement Day will come to Damian's side and then the LWO will come out. Bad Bunny will end up getting the pin and winning. Read the full article

So, what would everyone think of the two rumble matches last night? Anyone happy with the results? Mad? Had a favorite part/least favorite part?
I was actually going to write a series of ‘tweets’ for some friends who enjoy WWE and Descendants so I’m reallllllllyyyyyy glad you asked.
Sheamus vs Chad Gable (I refuse to dignify the stupid storyline that called him ‘Shorty G’) -
@MalGuillory - Okay, yeah. Kinda shoulda seen this coming on the pre-show. Not a bad start! At least it wasn’t the girls or the tags this time -_-
@LiLonnie - YES! Welcome back Sheamus! I’m sorry, Shorty, I love you too.
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - Meh. Slow start but not bad.
@JayRasheed - When’s The Bar coming back?@CarlosDeville replied - @Cesaro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH4Y1ZUUx2g
@BenBonhomme - Not a bad start! Welcome back, Sheamus!
Andrade vs Humberto Carrillo -
@CrownPrincessRuby - Ahhh! I don’t know who to cheer for! Someone help!@PrincessAnxelin replied - Seriously, she’s making the ‘computer overheating whirring’ noise.
@BenBonhomme - Awww! I thought Humberto had him. Next time for sure!
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - Was kinda hoping Zelina’d turn on Andrade. Oh well.@CrownPrincessRuby replied - BITE YOUR TONGUE. Zelina and Andrade are so good together!@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa replied - Zelina Vega’s good on her own too. It’s a waste for her to stay with him if they’re not mixed tagging.
@LiLonnie - That was a good match! Bummer for Humberto, but I’m happy for Andrade.
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - Wait. Both matches were title-less. IS WWE LEARNING HOW TO BOOK PRE-SHOWS?!?? #ItsAMiracle@HarryHook replied - They must be reading your twitter, Captain. Seems more likely.
Roman vs Corbin -
@BenBonhomme - EXCELLENT start to the Rumble! Well done Roman Reigns!
@PrincessAudreyVictore - #ThankYouRoman for having the grace, determination and LEADERSHIP a true King offers.
@JayRasheed - I love Corbin, but as soon as he opened that dog food, he had that coming. Good job, Big Dog.
@CarlosDeville - That’s what you GET for messing with the bloodline!
@LiLonnie - YEAH! Great job Roman! The Usos coming to help had me T.T
@MalGuillory - #WelcomeToTheRumble
@4HeartsEvie - Maybe now Corbin can get a new crown? Please? My work email’s in my description. I’LL DO IT FOR FREE.@Evie’sManagerDoug replied - Please don’t do it for free.
@PrincessAnxellin - I still think Corbin should’ve won. *shrug*@CrownPrinceChad replied - You and me both.
Women’s Rumble -
@MalGuillory - Alright! Let’s get this party started!
@LiLonnie - Already??? Oh well.
@LiLonnie - OMG OMG Molly Holly, okay, I take it back. @MalGuillory replied - Hey, chill! You’re not allowed to die tonight!@LiLonnie replied - Bold of you to assume Asuka vs Becky isn’t gonna kill me but okay.
@4HeartsEvie - I see we’ve reached the ‘Lonnie freaking out about the Legends’ portion of the show.@JayRasheed replied - Seriously. I’ve learned about 99% of the legends I know about from her freaking out.
@PrincessAudreyVictore - #ESTofNXT let’s go!
@PrincessAudreyVictore - Oh no! Mercedes Martinez is here! Who am I supposed to cheer for now?@LiLonnie replied - I love them all. Feel my pain. @PrincessAudreyVictore replied - You love all wrestlers. You just have that ‘I just hope both teams have fun’ sign. :P
@JaneCollingwood - I love Lana’s gear! So pretty!
@CarlosDeville - GO LANA!
@MalGuillory - Oh, Liv, what did they do to you? T . T #Travesty
@CarlosDeville - YEAH! NAOMI!
@CrownPrincessRuby - YES! Welcome back Glow Queen! #Naomi
@CarlosDeville - GET THEM NAOMI
@JaneCollingwood - Oh, yay! Welcome back, Naomi!
@MalGuillory - I…seriously? Santina Marella? What?@LiLonnie replied - Long story, bad joke, tell you later.
@PrincessAudreyVictore - We could have had Sasha in the 29th slot. #JustSaying.
@WhatmynameUmaThalassa - Seriously? I’d say ‘keep Santina Marella in 2009 where it belongs’ but…it didn’t.@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - The only good thing about this is Beth’s ‘I know where I’m hiding the body’ face.
@MalGuillory - Seriously? No Nia, No Ruby, barely any Liv, Sarah or Tamina? I’m disappointed. Fire & Desire never do though.
@PrincessAudreyVictore - #BowDownToTheQueen
@LiLonnie - She did it! Charlotte Flair did it! @LiLonnie - I just remembered she said she wanted to win the Rumble for her brother. BRB, crying again.
@MadMaddy - As if it were ever in doubt! #Bowdowntothequeen
@JaneCollingwood - Yay, Charlotte! Good job!
@BenBonhomme - Excellent work from all the WWE’s women. They should be very proud of their roster.@4HeartsEvie replied - They should be! And yet…@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa replied - Hey! That’s my line!
@4HeartsEvie - I could not possibly be prouder of Charlotte Flair. Well done. I wish the Bellas could be back but since they can’t.
@CrownPrinceChad - Excellent work from Charlotte.
@JadeRasheed - *gay panic*
Bayley vs Lacey -
@JaneCollingwood - I know she’s my favourite wrestler, but I don’t like evil Bayley. I miss the old one.@CarlosDeville replied - We all do. It’s okay.
@MalGuillory - Huh. Kinda thought they’d have Lacey win. She’s been getting pushed and Bayley….hasn’t.
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - Bayley needed that win. Point blank.
@PrincessAudreyVictore - Good. She’ll still have the belt for Sasha when she gets back.
@CrownPrincessRuby - I feel bad for Lacey’s daughter but great work, Bayley!@PrincessAudreyVictore replied - I love Lacey Evans, but I have a feeling Bayley won’t keep her belt much longer… *eyes emoji*
@BenBonhomme - That’s too bad. I was kind of rooting for Lacey this time. Oh well.
@CrownPrinceChad - Boooooooooreeeeeed.
Bray Wyatt vs Daniel Bryan -
@FreddieFacilier - YESSSS. Let’s go Fiend already!
@CeliaFacilier - YES, GET HIM WYATT!
@ArabellaUnderTheSea - COME ON DBRY! You’ve fought this clown before!
@MalGuillory - Yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhh, kinda saw that coming.
@FreddieFacilier - Was that a heel look I saw on DBry? Because yes please.
@Celia - The Fiend won! The Fiend won! I’m so happy!
@BenBonhomme - WHO is going to stop the Fiend? We’re gonna need the Big Dog aren’t we?@PrincessAudreyVictore replied - We ALWAYS need the Big Dog, thank you.
@Evie’sManagerDoug - If the Fiend’s going down, it’ll be at Mania. @JayRasheed replied - I agree. It’s too early.@CarlosDeville replied - Too EARLY? He only bothers to defend the belt at Pay-per-views. We don’t need two Bork Lasers here. @LiLonnie replied - That’s not entirely true.@CarlosDeville replied - It is on tv.@FreddieFacilier replied - Look, WWE needs a new horror character with Taker gone. Let me have this!@CarlosDeville replied - Okay, fair. I just wish he defended more.
Becky vs Asuka -
@LiLonnie - I’m dead. RIP me. Cremate me and put my ashes in the family temple. Cause of death - Asuka and Becky Lynch.@MalGuillory replied - She’s lying down on the floor and hasn’t moved for ten minutes. I think she’s really dead this time.@JayRasheed replied - RIP Lonnie I guess.@CrownPrinceChad replied - Does this mean the captaincy is open?@4HeartsEvie replied - RIP.
@JayRasheed - #She’sTheMan
@JaneCollingwood - Awww! I wanted Asuka to win! Becky’s on a roll though. She looked great.
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - DAMN. Smacked the mist right out of her mouth!@HarryHook replied - Match of the night for sure!
@CrownPrincessRuby - What a match! I’m officially retiring now. There’s no point in staying, that was so good.@PrincessAnxellin replied - Uh, what about OUR TITLES???@CrownPrincessRuby replied - Oh, right. Retirement postponed. @BenBonhomme replied - Should I cancel your cake?@CrownPrincessRuby replied - Absolutely not! Anytime’s a good time for cake!
@MalGuillory - That kick to the face though. I *felt* that one.@4HeartsEvie replied - So did I!
@4HeartsEvie - They were both so pretty! I love their gear.
@JadeRasheed - *gay panics harder*@JayRasheed - She’s not joking. Her exact words right next to me - “Holy CRAP am I ever gay.”
@PrincessAudreyVictore - Well done ladies! Now, can you please stop killing my friend??? #RIPLonnie
@BenBonhomme - What a match! This was worth the wait!
Men’s Rumble -
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - Watch them just feed the roster to Bork Laser.@GilGaston replied - I hope not! D: Will Lesnar be okay?@HarryHook replied - Gil…
@LiLonnie - I will not have words to describe how annoyed I will be if the point of this match is to feed the Rumble to Lesnar.
@JayRasheed - Damn. Even Mysterio and Kofi????@CarlosDeville - I WISH I was surprised.
@CrownPrincessRuby - THE DISRESPECT THE WWE KEEPS GIVING REY MYSTERIO DISGUSTS ME. FUCK. OFF. WITH THAT NOISE.@PrincessAnxellin replied - She just gave off the most swear words I have EVER heard her say in my living room. Aunt Cass would have a heart attack.
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - Yup. Women’s Rumble wins again. 3-0. Sorry guys, maybe next year booking won’t be a dick.
@HarryHook - FUCK YEAH MCINTYRE!
@CrownPrincessRuby - MCINTYRE AND RICOCHET JUST DID *THAT*
@CrownPrinceAziz - HA! Don’t sleep on Ricochet!
@PrincessAudreyVictore - FINALLY they got him out of there!@4HeartsEvie replied - Just in time for the last half too.
@MalGuillory - Holy shit will the guys get to actually wrestle??? Stay tuned.
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - So now that Lesnar’s 15 man long dick sucking’s over, we can start the RUMBLE! Finally!
@GilGaston - Brock Lesnar is SO COOL. I wish I could dominate like that. He tossed over like 15 guys!@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa replied - I like you better the way you are.@GilGaston replied - :D
@JayRasheed - GOOD. Now let’s goooooooo!
@LiLonnie - OMG.@LiLonnie - OMG. @LiLonnie - I cAN’t@LiLonnie - I caN’t beLieve
@JayRasheed - Okay, so, Lonnie just burst into tears so I’m guessing this Edge guy’s important?
@MalGuillory - Uh, anyone want to explain why Lonnie won’t stop crying?@MalGuillory - WAIT. That’s the guy who had the same injury Paige did!@MalGuillory - AWESOME. Welcome back, Edge!
@BenBonhomme - Amazing! Welcome back, Edge!
@PrincessAudreyVictore - I don’t think I can tweet anymore, Lonnie’s digging her nails in my arm to every time something happens to Edge.
@LiLonnie - BE CAREFUL WITH HIS NECK OMG
@JayRasheed - Aw yeah! Bring on the Big Dog!
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - Sorry, Rollins, you deserved that ass kicking.@CarlosDeville replied - For real.
@JayRasheed - Double spears! Nice!
@LiLonnie - *incoherent wrestling fan screaming*
@HarryHook - I repeat - FUCK YEAH MCINTYRE@WhatsmynamedUmaThalassa retweeted this.
@JayRasheed - Oh come on. Big Dog should’ve had that covered.@PrincessAudreyVictore replied - I can only assume booking wanted someone new. Too bad. @PrincessAudreyVictore replied - I got my hopes up when the crowd was behind Roman.@JayRasheed replied - There’s always next year. He’ll get them then.
@WhatsmynameUmaThalassa - A+ McIntyre. Match started slow, but it ended just right.
@LiLonnie - Good job, Drew McIntyre! No complaints from me.
@BenBonhomme - That was an awesome show! Well deserved, McIntyre. Well deserved wins all around.

Welcome to Money In The Bank PPV Weekend!
Originally set for Baltimore, the PPV will be fought over two venues – the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida and the MITB matches from WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.
BEST. MATCH. CONCEPT. EVER! #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/3JQoNVnJHu
— WWE on FOX (@WWEonFOX) May 9, 2020
For the first time ever, both the men’s and women’s match will be fought at the same time. Plus, instead of happening in the ring, they’ll start at the bottom of the WWE HQ and fight all the way to the roof where the two briefcases will be hung over to acquire.
It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. Sure, they’ll be surprises along the way with other Superstars hidden around the HQ. No, I don’t think we’ll see anyone thrown off the roof as King Corbin suggested. But, it’ll be fun.
The MITB matches will be the stars. Expect Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins to be a stand-out match to with some chaos to keep the feud going.
As of Saturday morning, here’s the card:
Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match: AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Aleister Black, Rey Mysterio, Otis, King Corbin
Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Asuka, Carmella, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans
WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins
Universal Championship Match: Braun Strowman vs. The Fiend/Bray Wyatt
Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Bayley vs. Tamina
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Fatal Four-Way Match: The New Day vs. The Miz & John Morrison vs. The Forgotten Sons vs. Lucha House Party
Jeff Hardy vs. Cesaro (kick-off)
R-Truth vs. MVP
Possible add – RAW Tag Team Championship: The Street Profits vs. The Viking Raiders
Predictions:
Men’s MITB – Aleister Black (2nd choice: AJ Styles)
Women’s MITB – Lacey Evans (2nd choice: Shayna Baszler)
WWE Championship – Drew McIntyre
Universal Championship – Braun Strowman
SmackDown Women’s Championship – Bayley
SmackDown Tag Team Championship – The Forgotten Sons
Sheamus interferes in Hardy match for DQ
Somehow R-Truth beats Rob Gronkowski for 24/7 Title
Star of the week:
𝖋𝖆𝖑𝖑 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖕𝖗𝖆𝖞. The end is here. #WWENXT @WWEKarrionKross @Lady_Scarlett13 pic.twitter.com/705SWI4MsK
— WWE (@WWE) May 7, 2020
Karrion Kross and Scarlett – While we are all looking for something different in this pandemic wrestling environment, KK and Scarlett gave it to us with an unbelievable entrance! Complete with smoke, singing and vivaciousness from Scarlett, it all exceeded expectations and led as a wonderful precursor to Kross’ dominance over Leon Ruff in his debut match. That’s they way you make new superstars get over and look strong!
RAW
RESULTS
Last Chance Money In The Bank Ladder Qualifying Match: AJ Styles defeated Humberto Carillo, Austin Theory, Angel Garza, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Akira Tozawa and Titus O”Neil
Shane Thorne & Brendan Vink defeated Ricochet & Cedric Alexander
Non-Title RAW Tag Team Title Match: The Viking Raiders defeated The Street Profits
Non-Title NXT Women’s Championship Match: Charlotte Flair defeated Liv Morgan
Non-Title WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre defeated Buddy Murphy
This week’s RAW just felt like I went on and on. With it being the “go-home” show for the MITB PPV Sunday, you would think there would be more of an urgency too it, but there wasn’t. Not that it was a bad show, it just felt like it dragged a bit.
One thing that has been a downer is the constant 50-50 booking from week-to-week. Take for instance, the team of Ricochet and Cedric Alexander. They look really good one week and then get beat the next. This week, they lost to Shane Thorne & Brendan Vink, a team they beat last week and honestly, a team that they shouldn’t be losing to on TV if they are going to be real contenders to The Street Profits. The same can be said for the tag team champs, who lost, predictably, a non-title match to The Viking Raiders which you would think sets up a championship match at the PPV.
I’m all for teams and individuals looked good and getting a victory from time to time, but you’re not helping make the teams you need to be strong look strong. It doesn’t make sense making everyone happy with wins on TV. Getting them on LIVE events is one thing (not that there are any of those these days), but on TV where most of your people see them is another.
No one knows how far she'll go…@YaOnlyLivvOnce is giving it her ALL in this showdown with @WWENXT #WomensChampion @MsCharlotteWWE! #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/Q0OP9KA4R9
— WWE Universe (@WWEUniverse) May 5, 2020
What we did LOVE this week was Charlotte Flair vs. Liv Morgan. Giving Morgan a chance to shine over three segments with a promo and a really good match with the NXT Women’s Champion does wonders for her. No, she shouldn’t have one and I’m glad she didn’t, but it will help build her character for a later point and time.
The field is complete.@AJStylesOrg @reymysterio @WWEAleister @WWEDanielBryan @BaronCorbinWWE and @otiswwe will do battle in the Men's #MITB Ladder Match! #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/7y2PoN1gFa
— WWE (@WWE) May 5, 2020
The gauntlet match was what it was. AJ Styles coming back to earn the final spot in the MITB Men’s Match wasn’t that unexpected but helps the PPV with another solid contender. I thought the WWE missed a chance to have some fun though. Having Bobby Lashley DQ’d was laughable to begin with. But, by having Austin Theory and Angel Garza as part of the match, why not have them face-off to provide some angst and tension within the group? It would’ve been better than what we got, which was predictability. Zelina Vega’s reaction only would’ve been priceless!
The animosity is at a whole new level between #WWEChampion @DMcIntyreWWE and @WWERollins on the road to #MITB! #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/ruVOu5g5uu

Nice build-up for Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins. Still don’t understand having interviews in the ring in front of no one, but they make even less sense when Charley Caruso doesn’t say anything for long stretches. Just make a production piece of it, those work better.
Overall, the WWE has to think of ways to attract more viewers as the 1.6 million viewers they got Monday night was another historic low.
NXT
RESULTS
Johnny Gargano defeated Dominik Dijakovic
Interim NXT Cruiserweight Tournament Match: Akira Tozawa defeated Jack Gallagher
Chelsea Green defeated Xia Li
Karrion Kross defeated Leon Ruff
NXT Women’s Championship Match: Io Shirai defeated Charlotte Flair by DQ – Flair retains title
Interim NXT Cruiserweight Tournament Match: Kushida defeated Jake Atlas
Cameron Grimes defeated Denzel Dejournette
NXT Championship Match: Adam Cole defeated The Velveteen Dream
Holy Karrion Kross and Scarlett! Now, THAT’S HOW YOU MAKE AN ENTRANCE!
Tick. Tock. Apocolypse. With the hype and the build-up, the duo still make a debut that was something different and exciting to watch! By far, the best thing on Wednesday night!
Johnny Gargano and Dominik Dijakovic gave us a strong, physical opener. NXT’s first couple (for the moment) swerved their way to victory with a Candice LeRae distraction to help her husband get the victory. Where Gargano’s next feud is coming from is a mystery at the moment but he and the Poison Pixie are making things interesting nonetheless.
We got expected wins from Mr. Winning Wednesday night Akira Tozawa (as opposed to his alter ego Mr. Losing Monday night) and Kushida in the interim NXT Cruiserweight matches. Both go 2-0 in the tourney and currently, both on top of their respective blocks. The tournament has been good with some of the best wrestling matches of the week. I wonder if they’ve made up their minds about Drake Maverick though.
Who will be Finn Balor’s attacker? We still don’t know, but we do know that Cameron Grimes didn’t do himself any favors by saying he could beat Balor up and will get decimated next week.

I like what they’re doing with Charlotte Flair. By taking on some new names on both RAW and NXT it almost has the feel of her father, Ric Flair traveling to the territories each week to take on the local top stars. Like her Dad, she makes them look good, gets the win most times and keeps the title. All good for business. This week, with a DQ loss to Io Shirai, it keeps a potential rematch alive and with Rhea Ripley’s return, sets up a nice three-person dynamic for a bit between the trio.
Love kept them together.
@AdamColePro retains his #NXTChampionship… and that boys and girls, that's UNDISPUTED. #WWENXT #AndStill pic.twitter.com/IWqSB8g58V
— WWE (@WWE) May 7, 2020
The NXT Championship Match between Adam Cole and The Velveteen Dream fell a little flat to me. I expected more from these two but it just didn’t click. Cole extends his historic NXT Championship reign (340 days on Wednesday) but the match really didn’t do much for me and needed the expected run-in from The Undisputed Era. The Velveteen Dream’s run at Cole hasn’t been all that memorable. Maybe it’s the lack of crowd to give it some emotion and feedback, but it just hasn’t worked. Who’s next for Cole, maybe NXT North American Champ Keith Lee? That I wouldn’t mind seeing. There’s history there.
SMACKDOWN
RESULTS
Sonya Deville defeated Mandy Rose
The Miz & John Morrison & The Forgotten Sons defeated The New Day & Lucha House Party
Tamina & Lacey Evans defeated Bayley & Sasha Banks
King Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro defeated Daniel Bryan, Drew Gulak & Otis
The go-home show to the MITB PPV was all about the set-up with a showcase on three tag-team matches. Before we get to those, let’s talk about the non-in ring stuff.
"Come back home." – @WWEBrayWyatt "I am home." – @BraunStrowman #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/41gLp7gWFF
— WWE on FOX (@WWEonFOX) May 9, 2020
Braun Strowman’s face-to-face with Bray Wyatt fell kind of flat. It was nice to see Wyatt in person, but it was the same ol’ you started with me and I want your belt back-and-forth. Nothing new here to make me want to be invested in the storyline.
As expected, Jeff Hardy returned to SmackDown and as expected, Sheamus confronted him. That was pretty good stuff between the two veterans. We should expect that match to be added to the MITB PPV this weekend.
That trash talk from @SonyaDevilleWWE tho' #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/GzjkPyGUoH
— WWE on FOX (@WWEonFOX) May 9, 2020
I thought the best part of the show was the opener between Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. Letting these go at it no only with the physical style in (and out of) the ring, but with the banter while they do it, this was very good to watch. I hope they keep it up.
As for the tag team matches, we got some very good action. Really enjoyed the 8-man match between those fighting for the SmackDown tag team championship Sunday. Plus, it was good that that The Miz & John Morrison got some street crede back with a win. Still, with some tensions with The Forgotten Sons, it sets up for an exciting match for The New Day to defend the titles.
The women’s tag match went pretty much according to schedule with Tamina looking like a contender for Bayley’s SmackDown Championship, although it’s very unlikely she’ll beat Bayley.
Can King @BaronCorbinWWE become the first Superstar to win King of the Ring and #MITB in the same calendar year? #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/BWkch7qYwB
— WWE on FOX (@WWEonFOX) May 9, 2020
In the main event, the heels got over as King Corbin ended up atop the ladder to end the night. We, of course, in McMahon comedic style, got Otis breaking a ladder as he tried to climb it. I don’t expect either Corbin or Otis to be at the heights on Sunday either.
And oh yeah, the Hacker is still watching us. Payback is coming!
Parting shots:
With the Country starting to open up more and more things, I expect the wrestling world to push the envelope. But, here in the Northeast, they’re already canceling things through Labor Day. One of the things to fall by the wayside will be SummerSlam in Boston. State officials have already said no large gatherings before September 7th. So, expect an alternative plan there for the WWE. Maybe we’ll get it back in Boston next year.
It was nice to see Roman Reigns address that he’s not at the WWE events due to making sure his new kids are healthy. I applaud him for that. Making sure your family is safe is always first priority. I wish the WWE would just address the situation honestly on TV as well.

ember!!! or nikki!!!! although honestly i love them all so much that i wouldn’t be mad if any of them won
I LOVE HOW ROUNDED OUT THIS IS, we are ALL love nxt’s women’s division!!! i agree that any of them could win and i’d be thrilled, it’s gonna be SO SO SO FUN im so so excited!!!!!!! i’m personally rooting for ember but whoever wins is gonna have an amazing reign...i’d absolutely love to see peyton win and have a dual-reign with billie!!! that would be so so so much fun!!!
pirate queen kairi would be super duper cool too though...i’d love to see ember go for the title then, she works so hard for it and it would be a really cool clash of aesthetics? ember gets so intense and so desperate and so furious, while kairi is theatric and fun but so focused and composed under pressure and not afraid to get melodramatic, too, god, MAN that would be a neat feud
NIKKI WOULD BE A COOL CHAMP TOO, i know she liked a tweet defending the idea, though, that she’s a tag champion under the freebird rules, and also she should get a chance to defend the tag titles under those rules, and i FEEL it, but like. i would LOVE to see her as champion...she’d be an absolute disaster and we’d all love it
LIKE!!!!!! IM SO SO SO EXCITED mariam yr right takeover is gonna be SO GOOD, i know youre going to see survivor series Live And In Person and idk how that might affect yr feelings on it, but takeover is...like...LLIIIIIKE...IM STOKED...andrade and zelina v drew is gonna KICK MY GAY ASS...velveteen v aleister is gonna KICK MY GAY ASS.........the WOMENS TITLE MATCH IS GONNA KICK MY GAY ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#tozawas#reinmeka#jenkinsbarry#IM SO EXCITED FOR TAKEOVER FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#having the consistent 5 match format is really nice imo? its very clean and controlled and every match means something#and gets the time it deserves and it's NEAT#i kinda wish we got to see like...conclusions to 205 feuds on takeovers? like#the cw division used to show up on nxt occasionally and i miss that a bit just because#as you know...i loooOOooOooOoOOoOOove me some cruiserweights#and like it would be cool to see the ends of feuds get a time and a platform to shine with a crowd that is#r...relatively more supportive of Non Main Roster competitors? it might be optimistic thinking but lmao i try#like!!! imagine if drew v akira ended in a no dq match at takeover? i LOVE how anything can happen on a regular ep of 205#and every storyline on 205 tends to get the spotlight it deserves but also 205 doesnt really GET a spotlight?#they dont get special ppvs or events and as much as i love their feud ending stipulation matches they are kinda treated like...#Just Another Day#and i love them but also i just!!! I WANT EVERYONE TO SEE THEM and fr 205 to get attention and appreciation like it deserves#and also i DO wanna see drew and akira having a deathmatch at nxt takeover LISTEN I DONT THINK IM ASKING FOR MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#IS IT SO WRONG TO ASK THAT AKIRA SENTON DREW THROUGH 3 PANES OF GLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ‘NXT Takeover: Philadelphia’ Media Call w/ Triple H (Full Audio)
Johnny Gargano has gone from a struggling singles career to one victory away from becoming the NXT Champion. Johnny Wrestling’s NXT underdog story will reach its dramatic climax tonight at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia when he challenges Andrade “Cien” Almas for the NXT Championship.
Considering Gargano represents NXT’s version of Rocky Balboa, a true underdog who has come out of nowhere to find himself in a huge title showdown, there may not be a better city to host this matchup than Philadelphia, the city that was famously the backdrop for the “Rocky” movie franchise.
Gargano was never even supposed to be involved in the series of matches to determine Almas’ challenger in the first place. Yet, after learning of an injury to Velveteen Dream, General Manager William Regal inserted the talented Gargano into the fray. The former NXT Tag Team Champion — who had stumbled mightily since transitioning to singles competition — went on to defeat the highly acclaimed Kassius Ohno in a Qualifying Match before overcoming Killian Dain, Aleister Black and Lars Sullivan in a No. 1 Contender’s Fatal 4-Way Match. That’s a Knockout Artist, two monsters and a previously undefeated Superstar, for those keeping count. Gargano even went on to defeat Velveteen Dream on the Jan. 24 episode of NXT after he put his NXT Title Match opportunity on the line.
Before Gargano can claim the NXT Title, he must defeat the red-hot Almas, a Superstar who has similarly gone from a struggling singles career to the top of NXT. Almas’ career resurgence can be traced in part to the arrival of his business manager Zelina Vega, who has helped El Idolo focus and, at times, even offered a helping hand.
This title match won’t be the first time these two competitors have met, with Gargano coming out on the losing side in their previous two battles. However, both clashes included timely interference from Vega. Will Almas’ fiery manager make her presence felt in this title contest? And if so, can Gargano not only overcome the extremely dangerous Almas, but also Vega’s distractions to become the new NXT Champion?
See who prevails in this storied showodwn for the NXT Championship when Andrade “Cien” Almas and Johnny Gargano battle at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia tonight at 8 ET/5 PT, exclusively on the award-winning WWE Network.
