I need to get some thoughts off my chest about WWE. Feel free to comment! I don’t have anyone to chat with about wrestling! I’ll go back to my regularly scheduled fanfics.

-The IWC is exhausting.

-Drew McIntyre does not need a character pivot to attack the Bloodline. Not everything needs this grand backstory. He’s attacking them because of what they did to him. It’s perfectly fine.

-It’s exhausting how the Bloodline gets their ass kicked weekly while Roman never comes out to save any of them during this feud with Drew. It’s a major downside of Roman never actually wrestling on TV.

-The Judgement Day moving to feud with Wyatt 6 (if rumors are true) would not be Liv lowering herself. Wrestlers cannot be in the main event/top storylines all the time. It will not hurt her. She feuds w Wyatt 6 for a month or two. Then comes back into the IC/US title hunt or Championship. It will be fine. If done right (probably won’t be) both sides will move on to be fine.

-The Wyatt 6 should have 100% feuded with Judgement Day upon their debut.

-Liv and Rhea should have ended their feud at Bad Blood. Full stop. The name was in the title.

-same with Damian and Finn.

-Same with Roman and Solo. Though I will allow them to carry on to Survivor Series, but no further.

-With Drew inserting himself in Bloodline business, why are they still trying to push Solo? He’s coming across as a tantrum throwing younger sibling demanding “look at me!” While the Bloodline’s attention has turned to Drew.

-It’s perfectly acceptable for wrestlers to actually wrestle on TV and not just PLEs. They don’t have to wrestle every week, but it would do wonders for feuds if matches actually happened instead of promos and jawing.

-Raw on Netflix is gonna be some grand first episode and then revert back to Raw as it always is.

-Jey Uso and Drew McIntrye should have happened tonight like it used to be. Get attacked in the opening of the show? Match is scheduled that night. Not next week.

-STOP CHANGING ENTRANCE MUSIC!

-Rhea was always going to get the title back. It’s the story. She vacated it for injury. The story ends with her getting it back.

-KO should win the title at Royal Rumble but Cody should win it back at Elimination Chamber. If he doesn’t, that feud needs to stop.

-it’s okay for belts to change hands on Raw/SD. Once upon a time, the belts changed hands at house (live) shows.

-It’s okay for belts to change hands after a month. Even if they go back to the other person. Again. It helps the feud. It doesn’t make the reign bad.

-Matches on TV don’t always need to have a story or push an agenda. They can just wrestle.

-The Rock puts fans in the stands, will get a major pop, but ultimately wrestling does not need him and it’s extremely irritating that he pops in for no reason other than almost an “I’m bored”.

-Any match The Rock is in, does not need a title. The Rock v Roman (of that ever happens with a closing window) does not need a belt. They have The Head of The Table title.

-Wrestling does not need Roman either. (They have recovered from losing Cena, HHH, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Hogan, etc.) He will forever sell merch and be a top seller no doubt, but the shows will be fine

-The draft needs to happen the week after Wrestlemania. Feuds end at the titular event. Hold the draft the following Monday and Friday and actually change up the rosters.

-STOP PUTTING THE TOP GUYS IN THE SAME FUED! (Looking at you Seth, Drew, Punk, Roman, Sami, Jey…) Jey can still be in the IC title picture. Bloodline can be a side quest. Shit man. That’s why people are tired of seeing Gunther v Damian. But what can they do?? There is no one else.

-please don’t give the/a belt to Charlotte immediately upon returning.

-Same with Becky. Let her feud with Liv since she made those few comments about retiring her. Again. No belt is needed.

-injuries/depleted roster really hurt the Raw’s women’s division and they never tried to jump those hurdles. That’s what caused Liv and Rhea to drag on. There was nothing else. It could have been handled differently. (Though still stand by it ending at Bad Blood.)

-We don’t need long title runs to solidify a reign. Not everyone can be billed as unbeatable (Goldberg, Lesner, Roman and not Gunther). Book them well for 2 months and it could be a great reign as one that hits a year.

Hi!! If you don't mind me asking how did you get into wrestling/how do you keep up with it? Every time I see you post about it I'm reminded of my interest in it but severe lack of knowledge

hi!! i don't mind at all!! so, my answer here may not be too helpful, because i didn't decide to get into wrestling myself.

i've been watching since the day i was born (like no joke, i got here, forty minutes later smackdown came on and my parents had it on in the hospital room). for my entire life, i've been watching WWE with my parents. some of my earliest memories involve it, having it on in the background, asking questions, connecting with my mum and dad through their excitement at getting to give me answers.

the past few months have been the first time in my twenty-two years of existence that i've ever had to watch raw/sd without them, and that's only bc my parents' schedules have changed, and they aren't home in the evenings. (but even now, i'm still not watching alone, bc i accidentally got my best friend tiana @heartbreakfeelsogood into it, too, and we're having the time of our LIVES.)

but, even though i didn't get into it, the interest was just Given To Me, i do still have some advice for you if you wanna start watching (and i'm using WWE as my general example here, bc it's the biggest wrestling promotion in the world, and it's the one i watch most):

• wrestling isn't actually wrestling:

the match outcomes in pro wrestling are pre-determined, because it's not meant to be a legitimate competition; it's a vehicle for storytelling. it's a tv show about a wrestling show, closer to live theatre or a soap opera. it is still a sport, and the wrestlers are incredibly skilled athletes, and if something looks like it hurt really bad, It Fucking Did. but, they're fictional characters that exist halfway in their own universe and halfway in ours, who experience time at the same speed we do. you can watch them learn, grow, and change, in real time, for years, even decades.

wrestling is fake, and that causes people to brush it off as stupid. but wrestling being fake is exactly why it's good.

• there is no beginning, and there is no end:

wrestling never ends. ever. literally ever. monday night raw has aired every single week, without fail, since january of 1993. like it just never fucking stops.

because of that, there's no good place to start as a new fan. you just gotta dive in headfirst. WWE programming/commentary is very accommodating to new viewers, they take time to replay important segments you may have missed, and explain past events so you have context for what you're watching. anything else, google and youtube. if you wanna dig into wrestling history, there are some great video essayists on youtube who delve into it; my personal favourite is wrestling bios.

in the US, raw's on mondays @ 8pm EST on USA, and smackdown's on fridays @ 8pm EST on FOX. there's other wwe programming on thru the week, too, and all of it is also available on peacock. in canada, i have sportsnet for watching live, and the wwe network as well. if you're in another country, look it up and check. (i can give you my streaming site if you DM me, too, if you're respectably interested in 🏴‍☠️, but bear in mind that ripping WWE shit is Weirdly Fucking Tricky sometimes, bc capitalism is a prison.)

• pick one promotion, go from there:

there is so much fucking wrestling, it's super overwhelming, you genuinely cannot watch it all. WWE, AEW, NJPW, Impact, WOW, the list goes on and on and on and on. pick one company to start, branch out later if it piques your interest.

if you want sparknotes on shows you missed/shows from promotions you don't keep up with, there are a million review channels on youtube to recap them. i do that personally to know what's happening in AEW, bc i don't watch their stuff week-to-week. i like whatculture wrestling's ups and downs series, the host simon is incredibly positive and fun-loving, and it's great.

• remember it is not that serious, and a lot of the internet wrestling community doesn't know what fun is:

wrestling makes people mad sometimes. fans who are really deep into it/the backstage stuff, called marks/smarks, are the most fickle, bitchy group of people on the fucking planet. if you wanna interact with other wrestling fans, on any social media, just remember that you're allowed to have your opinions and they're allowed to have theirs, and just because they say a match/story/whatever is shitty doesn't mean it actually is. wrestling fans love complaining more than they love wrestling itself.

it's just like any other fandom; step in, look around, find your friends, hang out with them and don't bother with the bullshit. if wrestling's pissing you off more than it is entertaining you, you can take a break from it. it's just a show!

if you wanna watch, just start. you'll pick it all up as you go. i think it's the coolest form of storytelling there is, and i think you'll have fun. BE FREE!

I just keep thinking about Roman being all paranoid because he finds out Sami and Jey have been secretly meeting up and he's like you think you're smart. That you can fool me? That I cwouldn't know you guys are meeting up. Everyone is like 👀 like oh shit he knows, then he's like, "This is why im at the top I get a wiff of you trying to overthrow me. I'm 10 steps ahead of you. Then everyone is like ???? Because Roman is thinking 🤜👊🤛 and it was 🌈🌈 all along.

IF ONLY WWE was actually consistent in the way they acknowledge the 4th wall, we might hope to see the Jey and Sami secret meetings get brought up in the story and I feel like that was definitely the plan at some point - Paul kept mentioning "watching the show at home" and even VERY pointedly teased that he (and by proxy Roman) knew about the "I acknowledge you" meeting when he told Jimmy there were things you could see at home that you couldn't see being there live. He also stated in a later episode of SD that Jimmy had been instructed by Roman to stay home and watch the show on TV (and this was another episode where Sami and Jey met backstage).

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever get a payoff on this aspect, since the timing now feels a bit off to make this reveal. HOWEVER, now that Roman is back (THANK GOD), I trust that the quality of the story might pick up again and who knows, maybe loose threads/plot holes like these will get addressed - the latest segment of Smackdown was a good start and I hope that soon enough we are having memorable moments every other week again!

I've been going through your posts(not in a creepy way I promise), and I have to ask. Do you really think WWE wasn't trying to push AEW down when they decided NXT should be live on TV the same night as Dynamite?

Meant to answer this earlier but needed my laptop. First, creepy doesn't cross my mind when someone likes or comments on a post from a long time ago. Algorithms are weird so posts can pop up for someone randomly. Usually I just think, cool my old posts are still getting traction to some people.

I don't know when NXT came on the Network for everyone, but here it's always been Wednesdays. So NXT on Wednesdays was already a normal thing for me. It doesn't matter that the show wasn't live at the time, that was their night to me. Do I think they were lying when they said an NXT TV deal was always the plan? No, I don't. Because logically, that's what was next. Do I think AEW's announcement pushed them to go live before they were ready? Yes, but as I've said many, many times these are businesses. They're not making decisions with their hearts, they're making them with their heads.

I think when NXT started signing so many Indie wrestlers, people forgot that they still have a large part of their roster in NXT and in the PC who are new to wrestling. They're learning how to wrestler, then they're learning how to wrestle in front of a crowd with dark matches, then they need to learn how to wrestle for the cameras and work for the TV audience. The next step, and yes I do believe this was in the works honestly and not reactionary, is to learn to wrestle live in front of the crowd AND the TV audience where there is no redos if you screw up a big spot. If they never learn that, they'll never be ready to be called up to RAW or SD.

TLDR; development is key and NXT going live should have always been the plan even if it wasn't before AEW. It's also why AEW need an alternate plan to replace Dark and Dark Evolution. They took away my main place I get to see Kip and Penelope and I'm bitter about that.

I told you guys that this Wrestlemania is a romance novel…. WM 36 - In the middle of a worldwide pandemic, while the whole world was shut down, we turned it the hell up. WWE was the only form of entertainment. I flew from California to Florida every single week to put on weekly television shows (sometimes 3 different shows) in a small arena in front of ZERO people. I was the champion. And I successfully defended that title in a fatal 5 way at WM 36, then watched it “live” weeks later in my own living room. What a feeling. I’m so proud of that match for so many reasons. Never before, never again. I’ll never forget it….. WM 37 - Coming off possibly the greatest year of my career (so far), the longest reigning SD women’s champion in history. And at the first show back in front of real people, the WWE fans, I found myself without a match at the biggest show of the year. The sheep of the WWE universe didn’t take that lightly, and so I crashed the damn show. I stood up to Hulk Hogan, I crashed the commentary desk, and then I got thrown down the damn ramp and rolled for about 100 yards. Thank God Bianca and Sasha main evented that year to make history, or else I would’ve kept rolling all the way back home. Embarrassed and ashamed. Never again. I’ll never forget that feeling… WM 38 - Out with an injury for almost a year. Everything from WM 37 was still boiling inside me. For the 3rd year in a row I was missing out on performing in front of 70,000 people. I flew myself out to Dallas for WM because I couldn’t miss my best friends make history again - the bigger picture. I’ll never regret showing up for my people. Walking around backstage and seeing everyone again wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be until I got a text from Dakota Kai asking how I was doing. She said she knew the feeling of being out with an injury during the biggest weekend of the year so she wanted to see how I was holding up. That’s when the emotions hit. I’ll never forget that realization. WM 39 - I’m in love with the journey I’ve been on. There is absolutely NOTHING in this world like this place. I’ve felt everything…confusion, disappointment, hopeless, but above all…LOVE. I love this. Love isn’t always happy, love isn’t always kind. It’s not rainbows and butterflies and smiles and flowers. We get let down in love. We even let ourselves down in love. We’re sometimes alone in love. But damn is it all worth it to just hold on to that love. A pandemic, a let down, an injury, cannot stop my loveeeee. All of these things brought us to TOMORROW. I get to walk into Wrestlemania in front of 75,000+ people alongside two women that have walked similar paths, have felt similar feelings…..and we’re going to thank our 2 childhood heroes for inspiring us to get to this point in our lives where we can now kick their ass out of OUR RING FOR GOOD AND THEY CAN TAKE THAT IDIOT WHO THINKS HER SH*T DON’T STINK WITH THEM!!!!!!!! Ain’t nothin more romantic than that. I know, I will never forget this.
