burning fireworks into flowerworks (shine across that sky) - mlc wip, the elusive college au based on these headcanons lmaoo

open hand or closed fist would be fine - mlc wip, uhh darker than what i usually write, but exploring if lxy/sgd did happen and how it influences him? with other ppl? anyway, since it's wip wednesday, i'll share a snippet:

Li Xiangyi is fifteen and he remembers how he used to give little kisses to Shan Gudao, giggling like the child he was when his shixiong sneaked him candies. Quick pecks to a cheek that was starting to tickle his lips due to growing hairs, but Shan Gudao would smile in a way that reached his eyes. Those smiles were growing less frequent, but it made little Xiangyi’s heart soar whenever he saw them.

@eirenical s tags: YES #THIS #thank you for putting it into words #one of the things that always kills me about these two is that NO ONE puts llh off his stride the way sgd does #he takes everything as it comes no matter how wild and manages to adapt and still get what he wants with literally everyone else #up to and including the emperor of the whole country and accusations of treason #but one LOOK. one WORD. from sgd and llh falls apart #maybe it's because that hero worship was established and set so far back in his childhood that he doesn't even consciously remember it #it's just part of who he is. his base make up. before he was llh. before he was lxy even. #and so every interaction he has with sgd has the helpless desperate hero worship of the child he once was underpinning it #and he reacts accordingly #making himself small. losing all his formidable emotional control. retreating back into that childlike attitude... #from before it all went so horribly wrong #and that just DESTROYS ME ALWAYS #*sobs aggressively*

Ykw let's talk daohua/daoyi

there's so much I can talk about the framing of this shot, but something that stands out to me is how despite llh being 2-3 inches taller than sgd, in this scene sgd looks much broader, taller, and generally just larger than llh. I've mentioned how both times llh/lxy cries bc of sgd he looks much younger than usual, but even in general he's always appeared younger/more like a child in front of sgd, especially as lxy. Even in ep12 where him and dfs were in similar framing, their size difference didn't appear quite as stark as daohua, despite dfs being taller than llh.

Idk just something about how sgd has always been a bit of an exception to llh/lxy, how he's the only one who lxy acts like the teenager he was when he's with him, how he's the only one who can get llh to slide into rage and not just cold anger, how llh/lxy notices and analyses everything about everyone around him, yet blindly trusted sgd alone.
