・You had been watching Victor from afar for a long time. Listening to the other's about how long he had been trapped in this hell.
・It broke your heart
・And what else could you do but approach him? Try and befriend him?
・It wasn't easy trying to be Victor's friend, he had a lot of walls up, a lot of trauma that had never been dealt with
・And you were quite angry that other people in the town treated him so badly. Where was their compassion?
・There would be plenty of times that Victor saves your life. He knows the terrain like the back of his hand, and would always be there when there's an emergency to make sure you're safe
・Knows your favourite things and tries to scavenge them for you
・If you lived at Colony House, you would stay in a room close to Victor. Through the day basically following him and asking questions about the place
・It took Victor a while to let you in; let his walls down and allow you to see the vulnerable parts of him
・Any time someone talks rudely to him, you're straight there - putting people in their place.
・No one messes with Victor anymore. No one.
・Victor didn't know what to do at first, usually he just ran away when someone got too aggressive (or got out his gun in extreme situations)
・Talking of his gun, he's used it to protect you as well...
"You come near them and I will pull the trigger."

Irreplaceable. (Kenny Liu x gn!reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: A cop arrived along with Tabitha, and she thinks she owns the place; you think it's time to teach her how to be humble.
Rating: T
Warnings: whole lotta cursing, canon-compliant violence, spoilers for S3E8 of From, survivor's guilt, mourning, Acosta slander, reader is jealous but for a good reason, mentions of blood, mentions of gun. Acosta is her own warning.
Word count: 2.15k

Tabitha was back.
She went through the tree, got into a lighthouse, went outside and wound up back in town. She was hurt - scared, you could see the way she looked around with wide eyes at every waking moment.
You talked to her once; it didn't go far, though, as Jim arrived a couple minutes after you finally got the poor woman alone, telling you whatever went on in their life wasn't any of your business.
You flipped him off.
"If you ever need to talk," you told Tabitha, eyes as gentle as possible. "I'm at the station."
Not only did Tabitha come back, she brought in Victor's father with her (by accident, she said. Of course.). Henry, he said his name was, was a gentle man through and through. You could see how much he cared about Victor - the way he tried his best to be patient and reconnect with his son.
He never berated the man, listened to whatever he said with the utmost patience and always tried to remain calm, although you're all only human - he panics a few times, too.
He went to the goddamn caves with Victor.
If that isn’t love, you don’t know what is.
Victor, your first friend in this hellspace; one of the four people you trusted with your life - the other three, obviously, were Boyd, Donna, and Kenny.
The man was a gentle, misunderstood soul. If anyone asked you who was the person who wanted to leave this place the most, out of everyone, Victor would be your answer. He was used to it, yes - but he didn't like the place.
He was tired.
You were tired.
That's why you tried to help him as much as possible.
(Victor told you how he tried to remember what happened with Christopher and the townspeople at the beginning, but it didn't work - he was going to see Sara.
"Does it have to be her? Do we have to do this?"
"Yes."
"Dude, c’mon. She-"
"I know. But it’s gonna get scary, and she’s the scariest person in town."
You blinked up at him. He blinked back.
You sighed.
"Fine. But I'm taking a knife with me.")
Yet, there was a third party who got in town with the two good parts; and, as all is never well in this place, the woman was an absolute menace.
Acosta was her name - surname? Who knows -, a policewoman who refused to change out of her uniform, going around asking people invasive shit and managing to piss you off more times than you can count by berating Boyd, of all people.
Her last stunt was to come up to the station as you were talking to the sheriff about the kinds of food you managed to find with the last group of people who went foraging, demanding him to give her gun back.
She did so without even acknowledging your presence, trading insults back and forth while you watched the scene, flabbergasted; Boyd, tired of her shit, actually gave it back to her without the ammunition (this is why you trusted him so much), and she walked out of the station, without as much as a glance towards you.
"Am I invisible?"
Boyd sighed. "To her? Most people are."
And then - there went your last straw.
Just as you arrived at the diner, ready to give your boyfriend a tight, much needed hug, you caught sight of a blonde ponytail and blue uniform.
"Oh, hell no."
You swung open the inner door, and walked up to the stools just as Kenny poured hot water into a mug.
"Yeah, they… they do that sometimes." He said, as the jukebox played by itself (again.).
Acosta looked at him - really looked at him. “Is that something else you get comfortable with?” A pause. “Look, thanks for the tea.”
He looked down at the mug. “Uh, you didn't even...”
She stood up, body almost colliding with yours. “Excuse me.”
And then, Kenny looked up, eyes locking with yours. He brightened up immediately - his smile widened, and he put the pot back in its place, just to beckon you over with his free hands.
"Good morning, my love." You said, ducking under the opening to the back of the counter. When you straightened up, your boyfriend was already by your side, arms wrapped around your shoulders, drinking in your presence.
The blonde turned around, now staring at you, with furrowed brows and a scowl on her face.
“Mornin’.” He swooped down, lips connecting with yours in a chaste kiss. A sigh left your body, arms encasing around his shoulders, and you heard a scoff sound from behind, followed by the door opening and closing.
You stayed there for a couple of minutes, in each other’s arms, just enjoying the peace and quiet – the rarest thing to happen when in town. You nosed at Kenny’s throat and he inhaled deeply, red creeping up the side of his neck.
“I missed you.” You whispered. He stayed silent for a few seconds, squeezing you tighter.
“You saw me last night.”
You could hear the smile in his voice; this is it, you thought. This is a good change.
Kenny was hurting.
Kenny was mourning.
But the town – the people, didn’t give him the time he needed to go through this, so the best thing you could do to not see him fade away was stay by his side and not let him wither.
(You missed Tian-Chen, too.
She treated you like her own. She loved you, and you loved her.
She told you to stay with Jade and Victor that night.
You shouldn’t have.)
“It’s a few hours too much, still.” You replied, grinning.
Kenny let go of the embrace first, in favor of throwing away the – now – cold tea. "You're veeeery cheesy."
"This is how you love me, anyways."
"Yeah." He sighed, leaning back onto the counter, arms open again. He didn't need to ask - you gladly embraced him, arms around his waist this time, as he leaned down and hid his face near your collarbone.
"I do."
You stayed there for God knows how long, fingers carding through Kenny's soft, thick hair; humming a song you knew he loved, whispering about how your mornings went, and the dreams you had.
You both had given up on the house after Tian-Chen passed away, and Jim permeated the place with his presence (although you knew he meant no harm, the place was suffocating). Kenny moved into colony house, while you stayed at the station with Boyd. Victor would have no qualms about you moving there with him, seeing as he had the safest room in that place, but Henry was there with him, and you didn't mean to intrude.
The both of you left the diner together, hand-in-hand, ready to face the day ahead.
Shortly after, Boyd assigned you with the task of helping him around - there were more people now, and he could use some help figuring shit out. Ellis was panicking - something happened with Fatima -, and the man wanted to help his kid, so you left to do some of his own chores.
Night came.
You slept in the "archive room", a little nook used to store boxes in the station; Boyd had helped you get a bed in there, and that was good enough. There was one little window on the upper side of the room, and, even though you kept it tightly shut (you nailed it, as a precaution), the whispers and giggles still seeped into the space and made it harder for you to sleep.
The sun rose with a golden hue. The orange glow shone through the clear glass, straight onto your face; with a groan, you rose up from the mattress, stretching as your body slowly woke up.
Another day where you got up, did your shit and hoped for the best - except this time, there wasn't even any hope to begin with.
"Tillie's dead." Boyd told you as you got to colony house, a few minutes after him. "We don't know who did it, but it wasn't a creature."
Ellis fidgeted beside his dad; it looked like he wanted to say something, but held himself back.
"You okay, Ellis?" You asked, with furrowed brows. "Is Fatima okay?"
Ellis inhaled sharply. Boyd glanced at him, and back at you.
"She's fine." The young man replied, nodding his head. "Aside from the nausea, and the, uh. The other stuff."
The ultrasound issue.
"Oh. Make sure she's safe, okay?" You said, nodding at the sheriff. "'m going in."
Boyd shook his head no.
"Wait here, please. Kenny and Acosta are inside, questioning the folks."
A burning feeling made its way up the back of your neck, up to your cheeks and forehead - although it was commonly associated with red, you knew what this was: green.
Jealousy.
Now, you wouldn't consider yourself a jealous person in any way, no; but the lingering glances, the manner in which she scoffed with no shame at your affection, how she thought she was the crispiest fucking fry of the batch?
Oh, fuck no.
Boyd and Ellis rushed away while you steeped in your own anger. Not long after, you heard two sets of footsteps walk out of the house, and there they actually were - your boyfriend, and the blue-uniform menace.
Kenny had a troubled look on his face while Acosta - what the fuck was her name, again? - yapped away with no regard to his feelings; obviously, no one would walk on eggshells here when it came to other people's feelings, but this was too much.
"Was what that guy said about Sara and your dad true?"
Enough is enough.
"It's not that simple."
You trailed off behind the duo, your own brows furrowed and fists tightly closed as you breathed in and out slowly.
Do not fight her. Do not throw fists. Do not. Refrain.
"Okay, you didn't think it was worth mentioning the girl that already murdered two people?"
"Look, it's just, uh, she's different now, and Boyd trusts her."
"Who gives a shit what Boyd thinks, okay?"
"Hey!"
They stopped at your shout, turning around. Turns out you were closer than it seemed; four steps were all it took for you to walk up to her stupid face and swing a fist straight to her jaw.
Kenny yelped, rushing to your side as Acosta doubled over, hand cradling her face; wild, blue eyes stared into your own as she straightened up, raising her own fists. Your boyfriend tried to step in, but you walked around, pushing him behind your own body.
"Come on, hit me." You said, ready for a blow. She hesitated, and then - you spoke up. "You're walking around like you own this place. As if you're mightier than anyone who has been stuck here."
Kenny moved, but you lifted up your hand, placing it on his chest. "Hun, please. Sit this one out."
Acosta scoffed. You faced her, seeing the way she looked between you and Kenny.
"Yeah, we met here. Yes, we fell in love here, we got together here. Yes, this has become our routine. Do you think we wanted to be here? You think we chose to stay?" Her eyes softened. "No, we don't. But we're trying our fucking best to stay alive and sane, because that way, we can think and figure out how to escape."
Your fists shook, angry tears threatening to fall.
"You have no idea what it feels like to witness the people we love wither away and get lured in by those fucks by night. So, at least, try to be a little more considerate of these people's feelings, won't you?"
Kenny took one of your closed fists in his own hand, slowly opening it and lacing your fingers together.
"That way, you might be able to actually help someone." You finished, staring at her bruising jaw. "Sorry I punched you."
Acosta swallowed deeply, glancing between yourself and Kenny.
"I never thought about that." She said, eyes finally settling on your own. "I understand. Apology accepted."
Kenny squeezed your hand, leaning down to whisper in your ear.
"Well, that's better than nothing."
You held in a snort, bumping your shoulders together.
"Are you going to come with us?" She asked, tilting her head towards the forest.
You nodded your head. "Yeah. What did you guys find out?"
Just as she opened her mouth to answer, a shrill yell echoed through the place.
"Help!"
Ethan.
Everyone looked towards the boy, as Kenny rushed to ask him what happened.
Acosta looked at you, and nodded; the both of you ran, and you sure fucking hoped this was the beginning of a good teamwork.

・Kristi was doing the best she could, Marielle was too. But there was still too much going on for them to handle by themselves
・That's when you asked if they could teach you i.e., have you shadow them, learn from their mistakes and achievements.
・Both were happy to educate you, the pressure easing off of them. Although they would never admit it...
・Randall had moved into the makeshift hospital with you, both of you taking the up space downstairs.
・Most nights you would go over your notes, as Randall lay on his back, the beds pushed together so that it created a (measley) double.
・There is a lot of banter/light teasing in your relationship:
Randall: "Ya know, if you keep fixing me so well, I might start thinking I'm invincible." You: "Just wait until I start charging you for my services."
・Randall memorises herbs that can be used for helping others and goes out to find them for you
・No one would believe how thoughtful Randall truly is. But when he cares for someone, when he loves someone ... god, there is nothing he wouldn't do. No where he wouldn't go.
・Because you sleep technically in the basement, you both made it as cosy as possible. Tying up flowers and herbs - hanging them on every wall.
・Candles, drawings (asked Ellis to make a really nice one on a large canvas).
・Even though he finds it a tad boring, he would still help you with your own learning by quizzing you. It actually helped him learn a bit too.
・Randall knows you prioritise other people over your own well-being. Forgetting to eat and drink water - he has to remind you every day.
・And by reminding you, he really finds out where you are and gives you a snack and some water. Leading you to roll your eyes, lightly smack his chest and then give him the biggest kiss.

Fourth time is the charm. (Kenny Liu x f!reader)
Summary: Three times Kenny almost said "I love you" to his housemate, and the one time he did.
Word count: 2060
Request: no, my mind was just screaming this at me as i read manga at one in the morning
Rating: T
Warnings: spoilers for season 1 and 2 of From, canon compliant violence, blood mentions, swearing, use of (Y/N).
Tumblr media
• When you barely made it to Colony House when the Matthew's got in town.
A loud popping sound echoed outside now, and the truck skidded to a stop.
“The fuck was that?!” Ellis’ voice screamed, startled.
Kenny got out of the vehicle, just as the younger man jumped from the back.
“Are you fucking kidding me? You laid out the fucking nails on the road?!”
The men started to argue, and (Y/N) opened the truck’s door. The sky was getting dark… and a water droplet hit her cheek.
“Fucking stop it!” She yelled, and both her friends startled. “They’re out.”
Ellis cursed under his breath, and struggled to get the passed-out man from the back of the vehicle along with Kenny.
“Tabitha, Julie!” Father Khatri rushed to get the newcomers out of the truck, and (Y/N) got a switchblade out of her pocket. “We have to run. Don’t stop, don’t look back, no matter what you see or hear!”
The group ran up the hill to Colony house then, as Ellis gave his word that Donna would open the door for them.
As he and father Khatri dragged the man up, (Y/N) led the way with Julie and Tabitha on her tail, and Kenny beside them. Heavy rain hit all of them, and the sky was the darkest color they had ever seen. Dark figures loomed by the edge of the forest, but they paid no mind to that.
More urgent matters at hand.
Julie and Tabitha were the first ones to get there, knocking desperately at the door; Kenny was right behind them, and (Y/N) skidded to a stop in front of the man, getting into a fighting stance as she saw the figures got closer. Father Khatri joined the newcomers at the incessant knocking, while Ellis supported the high-as-a-kite man.
“Open the door!” They yelled, but no one answered.
Julie turned around, by (Y/N)’s side, just as the figures approached. The teen stared at a young-looking man, who called her name in a calm manner. The woman pulled her back by the collar of her shirt, and Kenny finally sprang into action – fired his gun, and shot the thing right in the shoulder.
It did nothing.
“Fuck off!” Yelled (Y/N), with a manic glint in her wide eyes. She charged the short distance at the man, ignored the ‘No, don’t-’ her friend started to say, and leaped with both legs directed at the monster.
The thing fell on its back, knocking off a few of its siblings along with it – to say they were surprised was, well. An underestimation.
The door finally swung open, and the newcomers hurried in first, followed by Ellis and Father Khatri carrying the other man. Kenny pulled (Y/N) back up with a single, desperate movement, and they both stumbled inside just as Donna closed the door.
The next several minutes were a mess. Julie and Tabitha had to be tied up, as Donna didn’t know what they could do in a shocked state, and Kenny tried to intervene, but it was of no use; Ellis argued with someone by the side, and Father Khatri tried to sit the passed-out man by himself. Now, the deputy’s anger was directed at his reckless housemate.
“I told you not to do it!” Kenny screamed at his friend, who breathed heavily.
“It was coming on fast.” She answered, with a deep scowl. “Was I supposed to watch it come and disembowel you?”
“You were supposed to not dropkick it on the chest! You could have died!”
“Well, I did!” (Y/N) shouted back, clenching her fists. “And I’m still alive! Even if I died, what’s it matter to you?!”
“You idiot, I-”
“She did what?” Someone whispered by the side, and Donna just pulled the younger woman by the arm.
“And you two, stop fucking arguing!”
• When you made him tea after he caught a cold.
Kenny had caught a nasty cold, and his persistent coughing echoed through the otherwise quiet room. He was feeling miserable, wrapped in a blanket on the couch, when he heard soft steps coming from the kitchen. Startled, he looked up to see (Y/N) walking in with a warm smile on her face.
"Hey there, Mr. Cough-a-Lot," (Y/N) teased gently, setting down a tray with a steaming cup of tea on the coffee table. "I brought you something to help you feel better."
The deputy’s eyes lit up with a mix of surprise and gratitude as he looked at her. "You didn't have to do that, you know." he managed to say between coughs.
"I know." she replied, sitting down next to him. "But you've been working so hard, and you need to take care of yourself. Besides, I've got some secret tea-making skills that can work wonders."
Kenny couldn't help but smile, even though his throat felt sore. "Secret tea-making skills, huh? Well, I'm curious to see how magical this tea can be."
(Y/N) laughed softly, and her eyes sparkled with warmth. She handed him the cup, and he took a cautious sip. The soothing warmth of the tea seemed to melt away some of his discomfort.
"Wow, this is incredible," he admitted, looking at her in admiration. "Thank you, (Y/N). You're like my personal remedy fairy."
Blushing slightly, she nudged him playfully. "Remedy fairy? I'll take that as a compliment. But seriously, you need to rest and drink plenty of fluids. I'll be here to make sure you're okay, as auntie Tian-Chen is at the diner."
Her words made Kenny's heart flutter. It wasn't just the tea that was making him feel better; it was the care and concern in (Y/N)'s eyes that warmed his soul.
As the evening went on, she stayed by his side, chatting and laughing softly to keep his spirits up. His cough began to subside, and he felt a sense of comfort he hadn't experienced in a long time. He realized that, despite feeling under the weather, having (Y/N) there was the best medicine he could ask for.
In that moment, as he looked at his housemate, he felt an overwhelming surge of affection. He wanted to tell her how much he appreciated her kindness, her humor, and her presence. He wanted to say the three magic words, but the fear held him back once again.
Could he really allow himself to fall in love with someone in this situation?
Instead, he reached out and gently touched her hand, giving her a grateful smile that spoke volumes.
• When you defended him from the nasty looks after he broke Sara’s snowman.
As the snowman figurine smashed to pieces on the wall, a few bystanders started to murmur and cast judgmental glares at Kenny.
To someone that arrived after the whole incident, it must have looked like this man was abusing his position of power – the deputy, of course! -, but they didn’t know the weight of his past, the burden he carried because of this woman. They didn't realize the pain that had resurfaced in that moment.
(Y/N), however, stood her ground, defending her friend. "You all don't understand," she said, her voice firm yet gentle. "Kenny is a good person, and he's been carrying a lot on his shoulders. There's a lot more to this story than you know."
Some of the people softened their expressions, sensing the sincerity in (Y/N)'s words.
Another bystander, a kind-hearted older man, spoke up. "Maybe it's best if we all take a step back and give these young folks some space.”
Gradually, people started to disperse, leaving Kenny, (Y/N), and Sara standing in the aftermath of the broken figurine.
Sara sighed, tears falling down her cheeks. "I’m sorry," she said to Kenny, her voice softened by understanding. "I’m truly sorry."
Kenny huffed, grateful for (Y/N)'s presence in that difficult moment. "Let’s leave." he whispered.
(Y/N) nodded, wrapping her arm around his shoulders. "Come on, Kenny. Let’s go home.” she said, guiding him away from the scene, leaving behind the broken porcelain and the guilt-ridden girl.
• When you come back to him after Reggie almost shot you.
Tian-Chen dropped a plate on the sink as (Y/N) entered the diner, blood dripping down through the fingers that clutched her arm, and forming a crimson trail on the floor.
“Kenny!” The older woman shouted, rushing to (Y/N)’s side, and making her sit on the chair by the door. “Hand off.”
“It’s fine, I,” She hissed as Tian-Chen pulled her hand down, eyes narrowed in what she could recognize as incredulity. “Okay, it’s not fine, but it’s also not- ah- not that bad!”
Kenny finally came out of the kitchen then, brows furrowed as he saw the blood on the floor. His eyes followed the trail, and the image of his housemate hissing as his mom looked at the wound on her arm got his brain into full panic mode. “What the hell happened?”
(Y/N) looked up at the frantic male, opening her mouth to respond, but Tian-Chen was quicker, saying something to her son in their native language; she hurried off to the kitchen right after. Kenny's heart pounded as he rushed to (Y/N)'s side, his concern for her overpowering everything else. He knelt down beside her and gently took her injured arm, examining the graze. "You got grazed by a bullet?" he asked, his voice filled with worry. “Who did this?”
"Yeah, it's not as bad as it looks." She nodded, wincing as he touched the wound. “Reggie got a hold of a shotgun, but Boyd got to him before he could kill more people.”
Tian-Chen returned from the kitchen with a first aid kit and handed it to Kenny. "Patch it up, son." she said, giving him an encouraging smile before heading back to the sink to clean up the broken plate.
As Kenny carefully tended to his housemate’s wound, he couldn't help but feel a rush of emotions. Seeing her hurt, knowing how close she came to real danger, made him think about all the times he had wanted to tell her what he felt; he wanted to protect her, be there for her, and never let anything harm her again.
"You really scared me." he admitted softly, his eyes locked on hers. "I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you."
(Y/N) reached out and gently cupped his cheek, her touch bringing comfort to his anxious heart. "I'm okay now, Kenny." she reassured him. "And I'm glad you're here with me."
Unable to hold back any longer, Kenny let his feelings pour out. "I love you, (Y/N)," he confessed, voice trembling. "I've loved you for so long, and- I can't keep it to myself any longer. I can’t bear to keep lying to myself and to you, and-"
(Y/N)'s eyes widened in surprise, but a soft smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "Kenny, I love you too," she whispered, her voice filled with affection. "I've been scared to say it, but I love you."
With a mix of tenderness and longing, Kenny leaned in, his hand gently cupping (Y/N)'s cheek as their lips drew closer. His touch was feather-light, as if he were afraid she might disappear if he held her too tightly.
Her breath hitched in anticipation as she closed her eyes, heart racing in her chest. She could feel their breaths mingling, and the soft brush of his lips against hers sent a shiver down her spine.
Their lips met in a soft, lingering kiss. It spoke volumes; filled with unspoken promises and the unyielding devotion they felt for each other. Time seemed to stand still as they lost themselves in the moment, savoring the sweetness of their connection.
Kenny's lips were gentle and tender, moving against (Y/N)'s with a slow, deliberate pace. Her hand found its way to Kenny's shoulder, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss.
Their bodies pressed together, and the world around them faded away. It was just the two of them, wrapped in each other's embrace, seeking solace and strength in each other.
As they finally pulled back, they gazed into each other's eyes. The moment was charged with a newfound sense of intimacy.
"I love you, (Y/N)." Kenny whispered, his voice filled with sincerity.
"I love you too, Kenny." (Y/N) replied, her voice soft and full of affection.
Then, Tian-Chen’s voice echoed from the kitchen. “No grandkids yet!”
