Borrowers In The Apocalypse

So I had this idea specifically while thinking about The Last Of Us, but any zombie apocalypse story will do.

A few days after the initial outbreak, the existence of borrowers is revealed to the world. See, borrowers can get infected just like humans, and tiny zombies don’t care as much about staying out of sight. So humans discover tiny zombies, and soon after, tiny people.

However, this revelation is completely overshadowed by everything else going on in the middle of the apocalypse. Humans, quite literally, have bigger things to worry about.

And so over time, borrowers just kind of… assimilate themselves into the human quarantine zones. Obviously there are some bad humans who want to kill and cage borrowers, but a lot of humans are pretty on board with coexisting alongside tiny people. It’s not like they use up a ton of resources.

But here’s where things get interesting. You might think a zombie apocalypse would be super dangerous for borrowers, but they’re actually holding their own better than most of the humans. After all, the average borrower has way better survival skills than the average human. They’ve had to survive against impossible odds all their lives, whereas humans are just now having this problem.

And so we start to see interesting alliances start to form between borrowers and humans. Borrowers can teach humans everything they know about survival, in exchange for food and shelter. It’s a symbiotic relationship.

Now, when it comes to the zombies, borrowers are actually really good at staying out of sight. Most zombies never even think to look down. But tiny zombies are actually significantly more of a threat to a borrower… unless you have a human friend who can just squish them.

So yeah, a human and a borrower as a badass apocalypse duo.

I realized I never explained the Zombie Apocalypse CHNT Au so IM GONNA DO THAT!!

It all stepped from a slip up in the kitchen by Matthew. This weird green liquid was hidden in the food bc of a mistake in the recipe and whoever ate everything in the food that day either got turned to a zombie or all their skin melted from their body and killed them

Out of the 7 cabins, 5 of them fully "turned"

As for the counselors:

Sydney- He was too busy trying to heal the injured campers and counselors and was attacked by a crowd of the turned campers, he was overpowered and ended up being bitten. He eventually turned as well.

Jedidiah- He actually survived because of how distant he was from like. everyone. He doesn't know how to fire a gun since Lucille never taught him, but he can swing a bat!

Yvonne- Shes had her fair share of attacks, but luckily always got out unharmed because her sidekick Joshua either helped her out or distracted the herd long enough to allow her safe escape. Or jedidiah just smacked whichever single zombie was after her. She can also battle like a madman, so she defends herself pretty well when she's not injured.

Joshua- Unfortunately, being the cheese in a trap for yvonne, he had gotten bitten while helping her out of a situation. Being the idiot he is, he decided to hide that fact in hopes it'll take some stress off of the surviving group. Overtime, instead of turning, his flesh and organs decayed and melted.

Juniper- Him and Rowan work as a team. They defend and fight for each other, so he managed to survive during their duo fights. And he knows how to actually battle due to his knowledge on the hunt!

Rowan- He doesn't survive, unlike Juniper. While Juniper was busy fighting and defending Rowan, a zombie caught him from the back and just tore into him. He didnt turn or anything, he just got ate.

Salem- She's one of the only reasonable ones and survived due to her common sense and battle strength. and UNLIKE THE OTHER DUOS. her and Marisol make it out alive because they trust each other and work together perfectly

Marisol- Like i said, she survives with Salem because of their teamwork. and because she's SUPERRR STRONGG.

Soren- He tried to conduct the zombies and got bitten. He was the first to turn

Fennel- They ran off into the forest in hopes to get away from whatever was happening in camp but got lost and ended up dying from exhaustion, starvation, and just overall dire conditions

Warren- He's old.

Lucille- she survived because of her flamethrower and being a natural texan. She can actually shoot a gun unlike Jedidiah!

The elephant man just exists. like he's never found anywhere and no one can tell if he's dead or alive

T!Hershel has a MMesque timelining thing where it’s once chapter present one past. Past half centers around college age hershel and baby Emmy (I believe I decided that she’s 7-8?). Icon. She’s dyslexic and swears frequently. She has a cow plushie that she named Rachel (much to Leon’s distaste). There ends up being a coup later and I wonder what’ll happen to little baby Emmy who grew up in the nest when Hershel tries to take her and escape?

This started as a joke artwork, but I... I think I ended up accidentally creating a new AU after getting back into Organ Trail again.

(might make more sketches later on if I play more of the game and have them survive. Sadly Rue died midway in my first game 😔)

So I'm playing Fallout 4 and I know I've said it once before but I'm going to say it again. Star Trek Fallout Au.

While playing I kept thinking about who would be a vault dweller and I always come up with the same idea.

Bones comes from the vault.

He could have been a military doctor and soaked up medical knowledge like a sponge and he's quick to fix someone with nothing. He goes into the vault with Joanna (cause he jas her when the 💣 drops) and she gets taken away. So Bones goes after her and along the way, he meets the Enterprise crew. (Cryosleep?)

Jim: the Survivor/Leader

Spock: the half-mutant. His mother was a vault dweller and met his father.

Scotty: Inventor/Engineer he keeps the compound going and the lights on.

Chekov: the smart refugee who wants to help in any way he can

Uhura: Runs the radio and keeps communications going

Sulu: Dreams of flying but can't. He has a wicked green thumb.

If you were under eighteen, you were old enough to have known some of the worst horrors the earth could provide, but you still couldn’t get served in a damn Wetherspoons. When the Problem started, people barely took it seriously �� mostly because the older generations didn’t believe in it. When a majority of them fell victims to Ghost-Touch, they started to realise just how in danger they really were. Safe havens cropped up all over Britain, and many people tried to leave the country. It paid to be selfish in a world like this, and few could be trusted.

The ones with Talent had the best chance at survival. The ones that weren’t so afraid they locked themselves inside their houses the moment the sun began to creep down towards the horizon. The ones who could make a living by finding Sources and trading them for supplies that just weren’t common anymore.

Individually, no one ever really lasted very long after dark. So it was a good job they stumbled across each other when they did.

[AU in which the Problem started later and grew out of control more quickly. Merges apocalypse tropes with the Problem universe we already know.]

After Raccoon

A Canon divergent/sequel/au? Where the missile that destroyed the city was aimed just a little bit to the left. On purpose.

Maybe the Simmons family illuminati stuff comes into play where the direct coordinates are fudged a bit in the final order. So that Umbrella can continue its expirements in secret. Or maybe the government did it in order to use the now quarantined city as a testing ground. Developing their own bows or cures for them? Maybe later on the various organizations like the bsaa and blue umbrella send training squads there. A slightly better version of operation raccoon city, narratively speaking.

Following the Outbreak characters through the initial events? Seeing some of them we left behind? Solving a couple mysteries like what happened to x character after.

It feels very Dying Light where the city is in shambles and cut off from the rest of the world. And maybe later on or in between we can explore the rest of Arklay county, mountains, and raccoon forest. Maybe a Max Brooks style series of chain events/encounters that lead up to and after the end. Short stories about the first hikers to dissappear, the expirements done on them. Anthology about the mysterious cannibal murders and rabid animal attacks.

And then the aftermath. A scavenger city built on the ruins surrounding the smoldering crater. The teams sent in and the survivors trying to get out. Maybe air drops of potential 'cures' or new viruses. Tyrants forming, some of them half sentient or out of control.

A survivor trying to escape the city, then the county, then the mountains and forest. Grabbing weapons and building cars, exploring abandoned or still running umbrella facilities. Only to get nabbed in the end by umbrella/the government they've been dodging for so long.

I feel like there's a lot of potential in exploring what happens after the bomb. How the country outside is handling this open sore in the Midwest. Are there protests and riots and people breaking in without knowing about the undead hordes on the other side?

Do lickers climb the battlements of the walls at night, only to get beaten back by flamethrowers and turrets? How are the people who control the border trained, and what are they not allowed to know? Is there some elite special forces black ops type squad making sure nothing escapes?

Little survivor communities huddled around trash fires, trading company scripts for rations and bullets. Posting little messages to their internal network that's cutoff from the outside internet. Videos of adrenaline junkies smashing zombie heads for twitch streams. That feels sort of Dead Island 2, or a little Dead Rising. How would Frank West handle a t virus outbreak?

And of course, Hunk. The grim reaper. Maybe his new squad is going around doing clean up, trying to get cities back online, eradicating nests. Killing whatever mad scientists or their expirements are left in underground labs. How do they handle survivor groups begging for help? How calloused do you have to be about human lives and casualties? How do you handle a Tyrant that's sometimes just a young woman who can still cry and talk, but sometimes loses her mind and eats people?

I feel like there's a lot of potential for stories to tell in the aftermath. Yeah

🍓 the apocalypse AU

The day starts out normally. 

TK wakes up before the sun has risen and starts his morning chores, getting a bulk of it done before Nancy calls him for breakfast. While they all eat, they talk about the plan for the day. Paul and Carlos talk about how they’re going to check out the fence, again, and make sure they’ve found all of the weak spots and reinforce any that are still there. Mateo is going to make a supply run, heading to a town that they haven’t been to yet. Nancy decides that she’s going to tag along with him and make sure he comes back in one piece.

Nothing that they talk about is out of the ordinary, it’s almost the same thing they do every day, but TK still feels unsteady. There’s something in the air that makes TK feel like something is going to happen. After breakfast, he pulls Paul aside.
