So, i have to tell this is great wine. This is a dark red. The Banished 2016. This is an Australian red blend, which grapes are #shiraz and #grenache. Is an excelent price/quality wine. Pairs delicious with #bbq.

Im a huge fan of reds, so i can easily recommend this one!

2017 Update:

Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with things since I first started this page. As you can see from the initial pictures, our back yard project was very new and the plantings were just getting started. I will post an updated picture looking up at the back of the house to show you what growth we have experienced in 1 year.

As for the vineyard, by the end of last year, I was very disappointed as 15 of my initial plantings were dead, dead, dead.

During the winter I agonized about going back to the original supplier to purchase replacement plants. I really didn’t want to do that as they had not been very responsive about replacing a couple of Syraz plants that never “woke” up last Spring. Their distinct impression I was given that it was my fault so I really didn’t think they would be all that accommodating replacing another 15 plants.

So around February of 2017, my wife and I were shopping at Richards Nursery just South of Carefree Highway on the I-17. They had potted grape plants in. I decided to give the potted plants a try instead of the bare root plants I had originally put in my vineyard.

8 out of the 9 Barbara plants that I had put in, died. I purchased 9 Cabernet Sauvignon plants from Richards to replace that row (moved the living Barbara plant to a different row.

In addition to the 8 Barbara dead plants, I had 2 Syraz (the plants that were replaced already) and 5 Grenache plants that were also dead.

I needed 15 total new plants so I got 6 Syraz plants to replace the Grenache that died from Richards.

Success. It is now the middle of August and all my plants have made it through the hot summer and have grown wonderfully. After being so discouraged last year, I am now quite bullish. All but 3 plants are up and tied to the cordon wire at 56″ and have spread out in both directions to the adjacent plant 6′ away.

This composition of my vineyard has changed to the following:

9 Cabernet Sauvignon

9 Syraz

2 Mourvedre

1 Barbara

10 Grenache
