not to be fandomy but the image of a corrupted merlin set to this song has been haunting me for actual MONTHS
something something somebody with incredible power and a good heart who has been exhausted by others manipulating and taking advantage of him... something something arthur having a hasty reaction to merlin revealing his magic, causing merlin to run to morgana who was a friend to him, once... something something morgana, who has been filled with her own source of bitterness, feeding into merlin's complexes and manipulating him to her side... something something during a dramatic moment morgana realizing that arthur has opened his heart to magic and is willing to negotiate and work with her, running back to her brother's side... something something merlin having already been turned into a pawn by morgause and the other powerful sorcerers on morgana's side...
