As the actual Theta Delta symbol isn't something that can be added within the text of a display names or bios on Twitter and the like, but Greek letters are, people on social media have substituted the components of the Theta Delta for the symbol itself.

We don't recall ever seeing it on any other social media prior to it taking off on Twitter a few years ago. If the use of the Greek letters in-text like this has been used before in place of the Theta Delta, at the very least it didn't become widespread until some years ago on Twitter.

It basically is just used as a visual signifier that the person using them is therian (or otherkin as the septagram does not have an acceptable in-text symbol equivalent).

This question might be better directed at my partner system House of Chimeras (@liongoatsnake), who wrote and published Symbols Found In The Alterhuman & Related Communities. I'm afraid that while I know about the theta-delta's general history, I'm actually not very well-informed of the history behind "ΘΔ" separately as a character set used by the therian community. I want to say it was started by Ember (@synanthropic) on Twitter in late 2019 or early 2020 (the earliest use of it I can find on Twitter through its search bar is here, when a polytherian mentioned it in a reply to a suspended account, and I know Ember's account was suspended sometime during the Naia debacle in 2019-2021, which makes me feel like I'm right about this timeline?), but beyond that, I'm afraid I don't know enough to say much on it besides things that are already obvious (i.e. that people shouldn't combine the symbol with known hate symbols/movements). If there's a major controversy connected to "ΘΔ," then I am entirely unaware of it and have no knowledge of such. Sorry anon!

I know you don’t get into specifics a ton, but I’m curious if you think it would be possible for Louis to have a solo career that positively engages an LGBTQ fanbase, while he still remains closeted. You’ve talked a lot about the challenges that Louis faces with this so I’d love to hear whether you think it’s something at all realistic for him, and if so, what it would look like. This is a huge ask, I realize this but we discuss the challenges so much I’d love to discuss possibilities too. (1)

This is yet another comparison to harry, but his team has been able to do this pretty effectively, with the rainbow flags, and the innuendo and behaviour displayed by Harry himself on stage and in interviews, while still pushing articles about his gf and having said gf appear at his shows and in more low key settings. Louis is a whole other ball of wax of course, but I would love a conversation about whether there’s a strategy that could work for him without outing him (2)

Well (and perhaps if you’ve been reading my blog you know what I’m going to say) he is wearing a polari hoodie and putting pink triangles in his video.   I think it is interesting to think of different ways of engaging with gay culture.  Harry’s rainbows are so mainstream that they’re not outting and Louis’ symbols are so obscure they’re not outting (I don’t mean to repeat myself - but that is partly the point of gay culture - to have a wide range of different symbosl that can be both full of meaning and not meaningful at the same time).

As explicitly engaging with an LGBTQ fanbase - I think it’s really messy.  It comes back to the central contradiction of Louis’ closet - because he’s so much more easily read as gay, he has to stay much further away from gay things. 

In addition Louis’ LGBTQ fanbase (like Louis’ fanbase as a whole) are Larries. And partly because the way Louis’ read and mostly because of years of manging the way Louis is read, there’s much less space around him in general.

I’m sure anything is possible with time and careful image management. But there’s so much messy about marketing Louis I think it’ll be a while before it’s anything like a priority (or rather it’ll only be solved alongside a lot of other things).

Lavinia: Maroon, mostly because it's just very appealing to her, but symbolically it's a very dark and aggressive color like her (uwu so edgy).

Collin: He likes green, mostly because it's calming and neutral, much like him.

Korabell: She likes blues and golds, and this is a good time to talk about the little color palette motif in my Kar'havelian stories. So basically, in Collin, Lavinia, Primeveire, and Korabell's stories, they're all connected by an other world called Kar'havel, and a lil motif I like to put in, since I imagine them in a visual medium, is our world is more associated with warm colors, and Kar'havel is associated with cool colors. So when ever something has cool colors, it's probably related to Kar'havel. New drinking game, take a shot every time I say cool, warm, palette, or color.

Primeveire and Korabell both have pretty cool colored designs because they both have the strongest connections to it, since they both have half Kar'havelian descent, though Korabell initially has more warm colors because she was raised so separately from Kar'havel and exclusively on earth, but once she's started to loose her connection to earth, her design changes where it's more cool colored with only a bit of warm. Whereas Primeveire has cool colors right from the get go, because her story takes place right after her mother's death, thus severing her tie to our world, and is about to become much more surrounded by her Kar'havelian heritage.

Collin and his family, exclusively him and his mother, with a few of his sisters, have cooler palettes to, you guessed it, show Kar'havelian descent, but Lavinia has a palette of what should be warm colors toned down and cooler than normal to show that even though she has Kar'havelian heritage, it has been sort of bred out, and so now her access to the innate magical abilities Kar'havelians are born with is very little, leaving her with her only power, psychometry. Honestly I just need to make a big post talking about Kar'havel and all that.

Primeveire: She likes greens. Symbolically because it's a very warm and homely color, much like her, though throughout her story she wears purple and blacks, since she's in mourning, and it symboslizes the Kar'havelian aspect like I said before.

Lilias: She likes greens and browns, mostly because she's a druid, so she has a great connection to the earth.

Betty: Oranges and cream, they make her seem young, but also just a bit mature for her age.
