Modern AU: Blue Surana

Blue lived in an orphanage since she was a baby, so she doesn’t know who her parents are. When she was young the doctors diagnosed her with Autism Spectrum Disorder, high functioning. 

When she was 4 , she was adopted by an older couple, Greagoir and Irving. They provided her with good but somewhat strict and restricting care. They both passed away from natural causes soon after she finished high school. 

Blue did very well in most of her classes, excelling especially in maths and sciences. However, she had very few friends because of her facial in-expressiveness and flat, robot-like tone and behaviors. 

A childless friend of her fathers’, Duncan, took her in after highschool and helped pay for her undergrad schooling. He was killed in mysterious circumstances by members of the 5th Blight crime syndicate. Blue was very distressed with his passing. 

Blue has played the piano since she was 5 years old and is very good at it. She’s won awards at many recitals and competitions. 

Modern AU: Alyss Amell

Before she left their family when Alyss was young, Revka Amell wanted her daughter to be a nurse. Alyss didn’t have anything else she really wanted to do when she was older, so she just went ahead and did that. 

Her dad taught her to read at age 4 and since then she’s never stopped. Her favorites authors are Jane Austen, Sylvia Plath, C.S. Lewis, and Michael Crichton. Some of her favorite books by these authors are Pride and Prejudice (Austen), The Bell Jar (Plath) and Jurassic Park (Crichton).

Despite being timid in social situations she is great with talking to her young patients (she works in pediatrics) and is very calm in medical crisis (did a lot of Emergency Room rotations during her time in nursing school). She’s almost like a different person when she’s working in the hospital. 

But since she is indeed shy and socially-inhibited, on her days off she spends most of her time at home reading books and watching shows.

She grew up in a very religious family which, though not openly homophobic, was not supportive of the LGBT community. She couldn’t come out as bisexual to her friends till her last years of college. She still isn’t out yet to her father or siblings.

I was tagged by the awesome @motherofgriffins forever ago. The actual scale is beneath the cut, because just including my OCs alone made this way too long lol

Not all of the Awakening companions are included, because I haven’t finished it yet. Sebastian is not included, either, because I’ve only played vanilla DA2. Inquisition advisors are also excluded since this is only supposed to be for the companions.

This is also only based on first impressions, because I grew to love almost of my companions after getting to know them.

OC Romances - Dragon Age

Inspired by some posts I read on Cap’n Savvy’s blog over the weekend, I decided to indulge myself and do a similar post. I’ve only completed a handful of playthroughs, but have started a whole bunch of others with the intent of trying out different romances. @savvylittleminx, look what you started.

Putting this below a cut because, whoo boy, I have a lot of Dragon Age characters. I need to be stopped. Also, if you’re like me and walk into fandoms 3 hours late with Starbucks, then beware of minor spoilers.

Dragon Age: Origins

Veleda Amell & Zevran Arainai (Canon) - My first playthrough, but the last game in the trilogy I played. I wanted to play a mage since I already knew Amell and Hawke were related, but I was pretty open about which character I would ultimately romance. I was leaning towards Alistair until I met Zev, and my voice kink got the better of me haha I eventually grew to love the idea that both of them are kinda lonely until they get together, as well as Zev’s character development over the course of the game.

Orin Surana & Morrigan - I know Morrigan is a pretty complex character, and I did grow to love her, but a big part of her personality is that she is a bit prickly and blunt and does not take idiocy well. And so far, Orin is playing out to be a cocky little shithead, so I think he’s the most likely out of all of my Wardens to actually get along with her. However, the romantic sap in me will probably write it so that they eventually soften each other’s edges.

Aidan Tabris & Zevran Arainai/Aisling Tabris & Leliana - Basically, when I made my Tabris twins, I wanted to make it so that their agreement to marry their respective betrothed out of a sense of duty, but their Wardenship allows them to pursue the lives they genuinely wanted. And so, both of them are LGBTQ+ af, and I paired them up accordingly lol Plus, I wanted an excuse to romance Zev again, but with an elf.

Regan Cousland & Alistair Theirin - Even though my Cousland was trained in battle, and did enjoy it, all she really wanted to get married and settle down. After the Siege of Highever, she was honestly just desperate for any sort of kind word, so she immediately latched on to Alistair. And when his lineage came into play during the Landsmeet, she allowed herself to play politics once more, and ultimately secured the throne for the two of them.

Ranalle Mahariel & Tamlen -  Non-canon romance because I apparently hate myself, and it’s not like this implied romance is tragic enough as is.

Milah Brosca & Alistair Theirin - Alistair is my other favorite romance for DAO, and I think his adorkable nature is what Milah needs. She’s prickly and defensive, and she deserves some goodness in her life. Plus, I wanted to play an Alistair romance where they stay Wardens together.

Rosalind Aeducan & Gorim Saelac - More non-canon romances, but that’s because I just don’t see Rosalind getting together with anyone else once she leaves Orzammar.

Dragon Age II

Sylvia Hawke & Fenris (Canon) - I was starting to flirt with Anders, but @battlefox‘s insistence (read: “get your own bf, the apostate is mine”), I decided to give Fenris a chance. This is another example of my voice kink getting the better of me, but also an example that I love the broken characters. Despite the fact that this ended up being a rivalmance (Sylvia’s a mage), I do love the fact that he gets to learn that not all mages are the same. I also learned today that is possible to get a friendship-based romance while still being pro-mage, and I may just have to replay DA2 just for the sake of doing this, because while I loved the romance, I hated the implication that it was potentially unhealthy for the two of them.

Katherine Hawke & Anders - After completing my first playthrough, I decided I wanted still try out this romance. Katherine is very loyal/protective of her sister, and Anders soon falls in the same category. This playthrough will see the both of them alive and well, because this particular Hawke is very much a “fuck the Chantry” kind of person.

Reona Hawke & Isabela - An excuse to be gay rogues together, and for Hawke to live an exciting life as joint pirate queens with her beloved after the end of the game.

Diana Hawke & Merrill - An excuse to have cute blood mage gfs.

Aileen Hawke & Sebastian Vael - I don’t really know what to expect out of this romance, because I’ve only played the vanilla game up to this point, but I want to give all the romances a try. I just know that this will be my only warrior class Hawke.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Elera Lavellan & Solas (Canon) - I basically told myself that I would refrain from romancing Cullen on my first playthrough of DAI, so I was content to settle with anyone else. And while Solas annoyed me with his anti-Dalish sentiments, my voice kink once again got the best of me. (How could I not, in this case? Solas is voiced by the beautiful man that plays Ianto Jones.) But now I am in Solavellan hell, and I don’t know what to do.

Enansal Lavellan & Cullen Rutherford - Since I’d finally finished a non-Cullen romance, I had to go back and finally romance him. The Commander reminds me a little bit of my fiancé, so this romance has a special place in my heart. Also, voice kink, once more.

Sarel Lavellan & Dorian Pavus - I’m a bit biased towards Pavellan, so I made a Lavellan to throw into this romance.

Desta Lavellan & The Iron Bull - A redhead for Bull :P

Sulahn Lavellan & Cremisius “Krem” Aclassi - A non-canon romance that I love exploring through fic. I just really want to give Krem a gf, or at least someone who loves him and doesn’t see him as anything but him.

Eldrian Trevelyan and Cassandra Pentaghast - This is basically an experimental playthrough for me, because I am playing a human mage and will specialize as a Knight-Enchanter, neither of which I have tried with any of my other Inquisitors. I’m also kind of drawn to the dynamic of a man falling head-over-heels for a badass woman, because he is so enamored by the fact that she could bench him xD

Esme Trevelyan & Cullen Rutherford - I really wanted to give the Cullevelyan romance a try, since I usually see a lot of Cullavellan. I also wanted to try my hand at having an Inquisitor that sided with the Templars instead of the mages, and I was so glad I finally got to see the other side of DAI.

Elizabeth Trevelyan & Josephine Montiylet - I wanted to romance Josie (fucking voice kink again), but I wanted it to be more gay :P

Hana Cadash & “Blackwall” - I honestly just fell into shipping Cadash/Blackwall because of some artists I follow on Tumblr, so I naturally had to follow suit xD

Havva Adaar & Sera - It took me a while to warm up to Sera as a character, especially since my Canon Quizzie doesn’t really get along with her too well. So, I wanted to see what happened when you actually befriended her/romanced her, and I think her romance is one of the sweetest out of all of them.

Asera Adaar & Cullen Rutherford - In other news, Cullen is my favorite DAI romance lol I also wanted to try a Qunari mage out, so even though this isn’t an actual option in-game, I still ship it.
