They had dated for about a year after Cassie came back from law school in America. 

Before she came back to Japan, it was obvious to everyone Seto missed her. 

Their arguing was in a way flirting with each other. How could he say ‘I care about you’, especially when he was defensive about it. 

Perhaps he could have waited another year to propose, but they knew each other since they were teenagers. Either way, he couldn’t go on a day without her, and he reached into the drawer for the engagement ring. 

Downside was, he was going to be related to Tristan, considering that he and Cassie were fourth cousins. 

At least they weren’t first cousins.

At least she wasn’t related to Joey, out of all of Yugi’s posse. 

He could afford anything at the drop of a hat, and they say three months salary for a ring solidified the engagement before the marriage. 

Cassie was from a wealthy family as well through her Grandfather Syaron, so it wasn’t like his world was new to her. Finances aside, their emotional commitment to each other had never been stronger. 

Hong Kong was her favourite place in the world, and so they went there for the weekend. Cassie also went to Hong Kong to see relatives and spent a lot of her childhood there.

What a great place to propose at. 

Cassie stretched as she leaned on her boyfriend. “I’m so glad I got out of the office. The latest case we’re on has us up against the walls, so I really needed a breather.” 

She was on the minor branch at the law firm, so it wasn’t like the case was going to be fully on hold when she was away for the weekend. If anything happened, someone else could take her place until she came back. 

He leaned back into her as they watched the bay. The city looked so amazing at night as the lights lit up in the evening. 

“I’m glad to have you in my life, Cass…” he began. 

She glanced up at her boyfriend. “I’m glad to have you in my life, as well.” 

They have faced evil together. Seen so many things together, a lot of it strange. If he had to face the existence of magic and all the unusual things in the world, there was no one else better than Cassie. 

Yugi and the rest of his friends kept on trying to include him, despite his constant rejections to be apart of their posse. It wasn’t until much later, they both learned he and Atem were past life cousins. 

Past lives couldn’t be true, but if half the things he saw in his lifetime existed, what else could be true. 

“I know at times, I haven’t made it easy, especially before we got together.” 

She looked to the ground. Chuckling. “You could say that again.” 

He was amazed by her patience, everything he put her through. He wasn’t the easiest guy to get along with. Somedays, there were times he didn’t deserve her. Though she was still beside him after all this time. 

She was the only one who saw through all of him. 

He slowly got on one knee and opened the box that was inside his pocket. 

“Will you marry me?” 

It was the longest moment in his life. 

Slowly, tears were in her eyes. “Yes… Yes, I will marry you, Seto.”

Once the ring was on her finger, they hugged each other. 

He was going to spend the rest of his life with this woman, and there was no way he was going to let her down.

So after I made the family tree of my OC, I see it is very long and complicated, hehe.

So here is my fic for you all to get what it's about.

Mild repeat of the author's note on there, but this idea is very special to me. Had it since I was a kid around... 2003, 2004? So writing this all out means so much to me.

Don't know how to explain this, but my OC is Sakura and Syaron's granddaughter.

So like Madison's last name is Taylor in the English dub (Cardcaptors). Tristian is also a Taylor, so why not make them related. Madison is Tristan's grandmother. When I imagined everything, somehow, I made Madison and Tristian their same respective ages when they had a scene together.

In the Japanese version, Sakura and Madison are second cousins.

That would make Tristian and my OC Cassie fourth cousins.

Mild spoilers, or something, since canon/oc pairings aren't exactly everyone's cup of tea. Cassie gets with Kaiba, so in a way that makes Kaiba related to Tristian once they are married.

Kaiba and Joey wouldn't like that, especially Tristian. Can imagine Kaiba dreading the fact that he was going to have Tristian as a distant in-law, but he'd be like "at least you're not my first cousin-in-law. Fourth is basically nothing, like you and the rest of your friends are."

I suppose as Cassie and Kaiba dated, her softening influence, just as how her Grandmother Sakura smoothed out Grandfather Syaron when they were kids, just smoothed Kaiba as well.

(Also mentioned it in another post on here.)

I never realized this as a kid, but Cassie basically emulated her grandparents' example of marriage. Cassie is Sakura and Kaiba is Syaron. Forgot the Japanese word for the rough guy with the heart of gold is. If I tried to spell it out, I'd butcher it and make it even more confusing. Starts with a 'D'.

Anyways that's all I have for now...!
