Does anyone else periodically rewatch the SWTOR short films for that sweet, sweet nostalgia? And also to see Darth Malgus looking more and more fucked up with every appearance.

"...now may be the only time!"
The first of my little film romance collection, with Theron and Sana from @storyknitter's medieval fantasy au stealing the scene! Absolutely love how this one came together!

@sealeneee‘s excellent post about the JKnight and JConsular’s companions cohabitating/hanging out tickled me so much that it galvanized me to 1) mentally write my JK & JC into each other’s stories 2) spend way, way too much time and effort bringing this mental image to life.

Rusk thinks it’s a cinematic masterpiece. Scourge just wanted to see what Republic propaganda looks like these days.
(He spent the entire time insisting it was asinine drivel, but he would not let Felix turn it off.)

SWTOR using a lot of the original star wars soundtrack kinda takes away the gravitas from their initial scenes.
They're mostly used and have the effect as intended in the movies, it's just.. I hear that and see myself running down the corridor of the Esseles, do you know what I mean?

Tagged by @abysskeeper yayyyyyyyyy
⟡ FAVE SHIPS ⟡
Also Trick x Tavon
Beatrice x Battler
Flynn x Nanashi
Satoko x Rika
Bruce Wayne x Weiss Schnee (yes i am serious)
Myn Donas x Kirney Slane
many others...impossible to list my fav ships
⟡ LAST SONG ⟡
Anyone's Ghost - The National
⟡ LAST FILM ⟡
Aquaman 2! I haven't seen the first one but I thought it was really fun. It felt like. It was made for women? Which is a weird thought to have during a film but I noticed the lack of male gaze and was sort of transfixed by that lack. The themes of the movie were fun and it was very eventful with tons of shit happening, which was a blast.
⟡ CURRENTLY READING ⟡
'The Adventures of Superman' the 1942 novel (1995 reprint version). I'm still just in the beginning parts but I really enjoyed its depiction of Krypton. It's wild to be reading the first superhero novel.
I also pulled out the FE Chess zine i have, but I haven't actually cracked it open yet. Both are in my 'active reading pile' on my nightstand :)
⟡ CURRENTLY CRAVING ⟡
a couch for my room so i can watch tv again
the ability to finish the third chapter of the dc fic i really want to post
the energy to fix the damage in the wall of my room and my bathroom (not major i just. dont. feel like it)
a nightwing poster.
more ops catalysts in swtor...
i would put a food here but i am just not a food motivated person so thats hard for me.
OK. Tagging just for funsies (do this if u want to): @roseofcards90 @shadeslayer @enterlameprofilename @yoursupremeruler @yarrayora @salamancialilypad @halsaph, and anyone else that wants to do this!

This episode had, in my opinion, the best fight choreography of anything star wars ever. It had a visceralness you don't usually see in star wars. The use of martial arts films stylization movements still felt grounded because of the Force. It has the sense of power and skill from prequel fights but more grounded. It reminds me a lot of the cinematics for SWTOR (although it's hard to convey being grounded and visceral when working with photorealistic cgi). Especially Qimir, this is the fighting of actual war. And you see how the Jedi are more flashy and have to bring themselves "down" to Qimir's level to fight him. Other than the disparity in combat skills, this is what fights should look like in the Old Republic. Which makes sense from the character's perspective of this being an ancient evil that was defeated nine centuries ago coming back to haunt them. But without the refinement of Dooku or Palpatine. This is the skills of front line Sith, not schemers.

What's Oudette's story in your SWTOR universe? Any interesting facts that they are comfortable to share? Like how did they end up as a babe in a random storage crate?
Aaa omg I'm so flattered you're curious about Oudette!! :D 💙
So! Oudette (he/him) was raised by a dance troupe who found him as a baby (x). In adolescence and into adulthood, he had a long-running career with an Imperial majority-alien theater & dance company before a life-changing incident.
The Incident was a targeted attack on the company’s performers following a big show where very few escaped unscathed, if at all. During the attack, Oudette, despite lacking combat experience, confronted the attackers to protect his peers but was critically injured and left for dead (this is where he got his face scar).
Barely out of healing, Oudette began working on attempting to investigate/track down the attackers himself, fueled by a passion for justice and revenge for his peers. Events lead to him unofficially assisting Imperial Intelligence in their mission to identify the attackers (a rapidly growing force of anti-alien terrorists) and even helped interfere with one of the terrorists’ plans. Intelligence eventually approached him to offer an official role in helping them hopefully put on end to the growing threat.
Trivia:
He's a freelance commercial dancer; though originally specializing in ballet, he offers his skills to a variety of styles for a variety of purposes (theater, cabaret, film, concerts, etc). Imperial Intelligence assigns him to whatever gigs can potentially benefit a mission and assists him as necessary. Often, someone is assigned to accompany Oudette to act as his ‘bodyguard’ as both a cover and literally xD (he hasn’t been around long enough for advanced combat training and can be prone to finding trouble😔) ⋆
Many of his missions involve him performing or attending events like balls and galas, all for the sake of gathering intel. ⋆
He’s got a passion for fashion and is often seen wearing formal and extravagant outfits ⋆
Along with being an experienced dancer, Oudette also works as a singer and occasionally a model. He can often be seen doing song and/or dance performances at a cantina or cabaret. ⋆
Being a Cathar/Sathari hybrid, Oudette has many quirks inspired by both birds and cats xD Will expand on that sometime for sure ⋆
Oudette often casually refers to people with “darling” or “dear” as affectionate endearment terms ⋆
He has a feathery tail that can fan out like a peacock. He loves showing this off during performances haha 🪶 ⋆
Though he's always been a performer, Oudette desperately wants to become a good fighter, especially after The Incident. Despite the tragic circumstances at the time, he struggles with deep guilt for not being able to protect the other victims of the attack.

Continuing form this post.
2) Lily's clear bias for SWTOR and KOTOR II as "the only Star Wars media that matters" shows when she uses SWTOR and KOTOR II's method decoupling the light and dark side of the force from good and evil respectively as an example of "making Star Wars more interesting".
But Lily keeps forgetting a few little things:
Even in her beloved SWTOR AND KOTOR II the Sith are still portrayed as power-hungry fascists bent on committing galaxy-wide genocide against the Jedi. This is clearly seen in KOTOR II'S Kreia: a manipulative fascist and secret Sith Lord (as well as the game's primary villain) who constantly deceives the player character for her own ends!
The Sith code was NEVER meant to be this uplifting, altruistic "code of honor" but an absolute vow of the might-makes-right ideology! After all, it was inspired by Mein Kampf. Don't believe me? Ask David Gider, one of the lead writers/co-creator of the original KOTOR:
Tumblr media
Yes, the Sith Code was literally modelled after Nazi rhetoric.
What's this? "Palpatine wasn't evil because he was Sith, he was evil because he was a career-politician."
.....
.....
.....
No, Lily! Just no! Palpatine was Sith because he was evil! He embraced the dark side because he was evil! Don't you get it? On second thoughts, no you don't since in your mind: The films (except III, II and VII) and spin-offs (animated and live-action) don't count, all because they're not your precious edgelord, kill-'em-all power fantasies.
Whenever I see videos like this or fanfics like The Sith Resurgence, I don't see the work of someone who loves Star Wars but the work of someone who hates Star Wars.

okay so this is going to be 100% ocs but right now
My Sith Warrior Kalarros and @darth-bagel's smuggler/crimelord Sylvas. look it's basically just canon at this point, I love these two, I love their relationship. it could be argued that it's not really romantic, they're both married to other people and have a few other relationships (all consensually to be clear, they're not having an affair they're both very poly). Sylvas's husband was actually the one who originally set them up for some bdsm shenanigans (because honestly the only reason Kalarros isn't a pro dom is it's never occurred to him to charge for it, and said husband is also a Sith who'd considered Kalarros a friend for years prior to that and trusted him to look after Sylvas and treat them well) and they clicked spectacularly and developed a strong bond over the years. At this point they're so entwined with each other's stories that I've pretty much abandoned my original canon for Kalarros because it's just vastly improved with Sylvas in it lol. they've stuck by each other through some rough times on both sides and consider each other much more than casual play partners by now.
Khatte and another of Bagel's ocs, their bounty hunter Liz. honestly these two are just a lot of fun and kind of happened by accident, we had minimal involvement in this they just decided to develop a mutual crush and now Khatte has firmly entered his femdom era. it honestly wouldn't have worked pre Alliance era, Liz has zero tolerance for his bullshit and Khatte is significantly better at keeping his bullshit in check with some legitimate therapy under his belt. It's fairly casual but probably one of the healthiest relationships he's ever had just because he knows she won't settle for less and he likes her enough to meet those standards. what can I say, Khatte's type is people who could kill him and Liz's type (at least when it comes to men) is "extremely competent but also kind of pathetic" so of course they saw each other and instantly had to fuck.
taking an abrupt turn from SWTOR into BG3, my Durge (or half of my Durge) Ryldimar and @elaphaemourra's Tav Dragonfly. listen I did not particularly even like Durge as a concept until these two happened. [SPOILERS REDACTED I FUCKED UP SOME PEOPLE I TAGGED HAVEN'T PLAYED DURGE YET]
First Ship
I'm honestly not sure? technically this might also be ocs, because I was writing original fiction before I ever got into fandom spaces and even then I've never really actively shipped canon characters from other media that much (I passively ship a lot of things but I don't get that invested yknow?). so it's probably Talon and Iadra, my gryphons from a fantasy thing I started writing in high school and have been continuously developing for the last fifteen years or so. Talon is actually half gryphon, in this world gryphons are shapeshifters and are capable of both assuming a humanoid form and interbreeding with that planet's closest human analog (and also humans, theoretically, though I'm unclear on whether any of them have gotten to earth and tested that, the worldbuilding kind of got away from me and it's a beautiful mess now). gryphons bond for life the way a lot of predatory birds do and these two are completely devoted to each other, and also they have the fun aesthetic element of Talon being about 1/3 Iadra's size when she's in gryphonic form (due to an Incident™, he lost one of his wings years ago and it caused him to be stuck between forms, so he mainly looks like a slightly feathery Guy with a singular wing. about what you'd expect of an oc I made in high school but I love him okay).
Last Song
uuuh the Ken Theriot cover of The Witch of the Westmereland I think.
Currently Reading
honestly I have not been doing a lot of reading lately (been meaning to get back to it but yknow) but I'm in the middle of The Black Gryphon by Mercedes Lackey
Last Film
OG Star Wars, couple days ago my internet went out and that was one of three movies I happen to have on my hard drive (take a wild guess what the other two are)
Currently Craving
Salmon chirashi. I literally always want any iteration of raw salmon combined with sushi rice. fortunately I'm refilling my meds in a few days (to be clear the meds are unrelated to my love of salmon, there just happens to be a really good sushi place within a block of my pharmacy so I get chirashi whenever I need to pick something up)

My Headcanon Star Wars Timeline
This might also double as a "Star Wars: A Beginner's Guide," so if you want, you can also use this as a reference for Star Wars stories you can pick up if you want to get into the franchise; but ultimately, this is not the main point of this post.
Pretty much all Pre-BBY Legends stories: How the Sith and Jedi came to be, how lightsabers were created, the first wars, how everything started out as a high-fantasy before it evolved into proper sci-fi, the fleshing out of the midi-chlorians as entities in Star Wars... it's all so damn fascinating.
KOTOR - KORTOR II: SITH LORDS - SWTOR: The Knights Of The Old Republic games, and it's unofficial third entry in the form of 'Star Wars: The Old Republic,' are stories that take place in an even LONGER time ago in the same galaxy that's far, far away. The first game talks about Revan, the second talks about 'The Exhile' and the third game has both characters be greater-scope forces in the background that influence the events of the game.
The Prequel Trilogy: I never had a problem with these movies. I grew up playing the LEGO games, so I guess it never registered to me that these were bad. But I love the prequels.
The Clone Wars 2003: Unpopular opinion, but this is way better than Clone Wars 2008; no offense to anyone who loves the 3D Show, but the 2003 cartoon is a flashy and high-octane series that NEVER stopped and it had an appealing art/animation style. More importantly, the characters here are far more faithful to their film counterparts than 2008!CW. Plus, Grieveous was a straight BADASS in this show.
Republic Commando (both the book & the game): The book is generally a good read, but the game is basically "What if Star Wars made a Halo game?"
Revenge Of The Sith - Junior Novelization: While RotS is a good movie, the book is... it's just so much better. It goes in-depth into Anakin's descent into complete madness, properly fleshing out his paranoia and his trust in Palpatine; it makes everything he's gone through in the film more believable.
Jedi Fallen Order, Force Unleashed, Force Unleashed II, Jedi Suvivor: These four games, all taking place in-between episodes III and IV, are two sides of the same coin. Both are epic hack-n'-slash games where you play as a lightsaber-wielding force-user. But that's where their similarities end, the Force Unleashed games are power-fantasy games where you are so unbelievably powerful that you can do just about anything; the Jedi games are a more traditional journey from zero-to-hero where you start out weak and the gameplay requires a bit of legitimate skill to properly master.
The Han Solo Books: The REAL origin story of Han Solo. Born of a family of thieves, Han joined the Imperial Navy because he wanted to fly. He meets Chewy and loses his job. Other goofy stuff ensues.
Rogue One: Didn't think a movie that was based ONE LINE IN THE OPENING SCRAWL OF THE FIRST MOVIE was gonna be as good as it was, but here we are.
The Radio-Drama version of the Original Trilogy: I love the movies, but I love the radio-drama adaptation WAY more; as it expands upon and fleshes out the things in the films that left me scratching my head, it has more context to a lot of it's scenes AND it has a bunch of other extra scenes that weren't in the movies that make listening to the radio-drama a fresh experience.
The Mandalorian (seasons 1 and 2): I haven't seen season 3 (I'm sure it slaps, though), but I think this is an awesome sequel show to the original trilogy.
The Courtship Of Princess Leia: I just— this book is so damn funny, I can't wrap my head around it. (Plus, I love Han and Leia as a couple).
The (original) Thrawn Trilogy & Dark Empire: While I'm well-aware that the Thrawn books are pretty much loved by many a Star Wars fan, Dark Empire (I've noticed) is a lot more contested... but I love the Dark Empire SO MUCH. I love the idea of the World-Devastators and Luke turning Dark is awesome.
All of the Post-BBY Books from the Legends continuity: Mara Jade, the Solo kids (Jacen, Jaina and Anakin) and Ben Skywalker are such cool characters that I'm actually depressed that they get de-canonized.
Star Wars Legacy: Cade Skywalker is a very interesting character, as he's a Skywalker who became a hedonistic criminal who doesn't want the burden of responsibility weighing on him by proxy of being a Skywalker, the Empire is actually kind of chill, and everything that we all thought we knew about Star Wars gets flipped on it's head. Legacy, in my mind at least, is an interesting way to end the story of Star Wars.

I got tagged by the lovely @crownedinmarigolds! Thank you so much mate!! I'm absolutely charmed 🥰
Now my rat bastard spouse stole most of my tagging options on their post so to not double-tag I will add:
@skaerdir, @klaciate, @tzimizce and @vamp-orwave!!
If anyone who sees this wants to be an honourary tagee, then go for it XD
For those who don't know - Hi I am Alex! (He/They) and I'm a writer and an English immigrant to the USA!
3 ships: oh mate all of these are OCxOC with @c-n-i-d-a-r-i-a-n
Victor and Gloria – A Nos and his unbound Ghoulfriend. Making your touchstone one of your mission Ghouls is dangerous af but live fast love hard, lads.
Jeff and Lamb – Another of Vic's unbound Ghouls and the Thin Blood Nos that joined the Warren. Disgustingly fucking cute injected into the den of the rejected and disgruntled.
Ventan/Taakur Rig and Rozanin Rig – My and Daz's SWTOR PCs respectively. A Chiss Cipher Agent that ends up having to go hide with his Mandalorian hireling with her Clan and Roz's unrequited love becomes hella requited and suddenly Ventan/Cipher Five-now-Taakur has step kids??
I love it so much.
first ship: Oh god this takes me back to being little. Probably a Sonic one??
Shadow and Rouge if I had to take a guess??
last song: Temptation by Sean Paul! A proper bop
But honestly massive shout out to the second Nostalgia Synthwave mix by Odysseus on youtube
youtube
This thing keeps me sane, and has all the songs marked! – that opening one, Realign by Cerulean, can usually just melt my brain into peace whenever I hear it
last film: Snatch – Like VTMB it's a problematic fave that oozes style and characterisation throughout. Watched it as prep for a Setite I'm going to play in a V5 game >:D
currently reading: Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan as part of genre research. Finished The Vampyre recently too! Really I should pick AC up today, I've been working hard on my editing and outlining of my own pieces and neglecting the reading part of the craft for a few weeks >.>;
currently craving: So I'm drinking far less booze to save money whilst I'm out of work trying to get some Proper Writing done. So when I hit a good worthy milestone I'm getting a bottle of whiskey and I am ready.
fav color: Green! Sometimes purple!
relationship status: Maaarriiied to @c-n-i-d-a-r-i-a-n
last google search: I had to double check the spelling of Taakur for the ship section, so it was 'mandoa' :')
and before that I'm pretty use I searched Scryfall last night to go look at MTG cards even though I have no one to play with right now :'D (at least it's saving me money >.>)
current obsessions: Was tempted to add my own work here but I'll tag that on the very end XD
There's a lot of fandoms I don't leave – World of Darkness and Warhammer 40k predominantly as settings I always have another angle I want to see explored in!
I do however have the Magic the Gathering bug, even though I haven't really played in years and years now – but card interaction as a generation for narrative has always kind of captivated me? Like there's a couple big mean Ogre cards that make Rats more dangerous, but due to the way the systems work they also empower the Ratfolk of Kamigawa, the Nezumi, as they count as 'Rat' cards still. So big Ogre spellcasters improving Rat people as part of a contained bit of narrative kind of fascinates me as a concept.
Plus each deck presupposes a Planeswalker character who's casting those spells – and I was always intrigued by that notion and so most of my OCs are representative of decks I played (or wanted to :P) and then in turn each Planeswalker needs a Plane to come from, probably from a still existing culture on that Plane too, and so it can kind of wonderfully reverberate inspiration.
Like how every VTM Kindred OC presupposes a Sire!
BONUS ALEX SECTION
So if you want to get to know me, let me tell you about what writing I'm working on/have made recently.
Out now!
The Mutilation of Finley Reid
A short story of masculine horror, about a young man by the name of Finley who suffers in the pursuit of having his place as a man affirmed by his peers.
The world of Torranham Nights is an anachronistic reflection of England set in the coastal city state of Torranham, drawing from contemporary culture and folklore as well as the legends and reality of the cultures that came before – without being fetishistic about it like a lot of stories will.
Handle It
A short retail horror, about working the cash register of a butcher's counter, and the customer who orders increasing amounts of ground beef...
Inspired by my own work in a same spot, anyone who's done service work should get a kick out of this – plus it's free and only takes 20 minutes to read! XD
On the way!
Defector – name subject to change
A short story of grief, shame, suicidal ideation, alcoholism, and community. On the moon.
A Special Recon mech pilot, “Crash”, from Earth has defected to the Moon rebels, and now lives in Magnolia City, rotting away in her tiny apartment. Then the Provisional Government sends one of its elite commanders, a former enemy of Crash's, to pull her out.
Elhart: Arrival
The first of a short story fantasy anthology about a city of refugees at the edge of time and space, hiding from the end of the multi-planar universe. A super soldier has washed up with a near-fatal headwound and no memory, and she must learn to live in a far more peaceful world than the one her instincts suggest she came from. But who was she? And can she earn the trust of people who fear her potential to kill?
Neon Sun
A novel! Cyberpunk Vampires! If we're mutuals you can come ask about this but I'm not ready to share things too publicly for this one yet, but the outlining has gone beautifully in my opinion, and the worldbuilding is singing.
Speartip
I'm making a TTRPG!! It's a Powered by the Apocalypse engine game, about serving as the primary field agents of a faction of people who need your support and protection. Because if you're going to be a hero, who are you doing it for if not your kin?
Setting agnostic as hell, excluding some implicit need for magic in the class moves – I'm prepping to playtest this in sci-fi and fantasy settings to see how well my mechanics hold up in both swords and firearms based stories. Plus I'm going to explore a variety of perspectives of what the faction can be – from ethnic groups, to gangs, to guilds, to neighbourhoods.
I'm VERY excited about all this!!
