Saint John Paul II, known as John Paul the Great, was born Karol Wojtyla in Poland and had an active happy youth. Yet before his 21st birthday, his whole family had died. He studied for the priesthood in secret during the Nazis and then Communism control of Poland. He was secretly ordained in 1946. For the next 20 years, he was a pastor, a professor, and a student himself. In 1978 Karol Wojtyla became the first non-Italian Pope of the Catholic Church. He traveled to over 100 countries, was a prolific writer, and was loved by youth worldwide. He survived an assassination attempt in 1981 and even forgave the assassin. Pope John Paul died of Parkinson’s disease and was the second longest reigning Pope.

Excerpts from "Silesian annals" by Joachim Curaeus of Freistadt (1532-1573) on participation of Serbian cavalry in war of Glogow succession where they took part as members of Black Army of Mathias Corvinus.
"Aqueduct channels were cut by the enemy and water intercepted. On the last day of the month Rascian horsemen came to the camp. That is why this war was called 'Rascian war' by people. [...] Tettauer sent 1000 Rascians from the camp in Swidnica to await movement of Bohemians."

1) "John Haugwitz who led Black Legion by order of the King rushed hastily from Hungary and united with Rascians led by Wilhelm of Tettau."
2) "Rascians were given the order to fight. Battle has started on 28th of July, on which day heat was intolerable."
3) "Cavalry of Silesia made first attack on enemy and was aided by Rascians. [...] Haugwitz did not expect enemy to yield so easily."

“Living inside the yellow fields” by Agnieszka Wieczorek (Poland). First place, Aerials.
“Inspired by yellow color I decided to take a photo with a drone showing an aerial perspective of a small settlement of the city of Swidnica, Poland, which was built in the middle of a field. In the spring months the buildings are surrounded by beautiful rapeseed fields.”
