Had fun last night getting started on a promotional video for the studio. We started with the piano and it will end up being a fully produced instrumental! The video will show bits of the creative process mixed with some B roll of the studio! I figured I would get my creative camera juices flowing for today’s video shoot at @coastaldayzbrewery across the street from the studio! I learned that operating a Camera it’s just like riding a bike. When I’m creating original music from scratch in the studio with instrumentalists. I tend not to come up with a big plan on how to prepare for the session. I like to just get in the studio and start throwing ideas around. Impromptu! For some reason there’s just something so adventurous about it! I feel that I tend to get better results. In my experience if you do too much planning as far as what kind of detailed musicianship you want. People tend to struggle and try to stay on a particular path. I don’t think there should be a particular path. You just make what you make and it comes out how it comes out. It’s a natural organic process. And it’s glorious! Of course there are times when you need to plan.... when adding to an existing song. But when starting with nothing. From scratch. With free reign over the studio. So when I arrived at the studio yesterday evening after being gone the entire day. I was happy to find that this guy right here @timothyheardmusic had gotten hours of vocal tuning done! He also managed to lay down a bunch of track enhancing trumpet parts to compliment the trombone parts from the previous day! Then we spent the evening stacking staccato parts on the chorus to finish it off!
