Ninej superheroes?

- Inej still goes by Wraith. But now she can truly become shadow, melting between darkness and light with the ease of a dancer (or a trained acrobat). For the first couple of years that she was active, she worked anonymously, not even leaving a calling card until Intrepid Rookie Reporter™ Jesper Fahey managed to snap a photo of her in costume and came up with the name.

- Nina enters the picture about a year after this, although she has a much more public profile. Literally; she makes several social media pages for Heartrender. She Snapchats her nighttime patrols of Ketterdam. Her Twitter and Instagram have even more followers than her alterego, well-known dessert recipe blogger sweetswitch. And this isn’t even going into her fanbase on Tumblr.

- Everything about Nina’s MO is a lot flashier than Inej’s, from her costume to her fighting style. At first, Inej hates her. She was doing just fine on her own without this 5′10 hurricane of red spandex with impractically-placed heart cutouts whose powers apparently let her snap a would-be kidnapper’s arm in half from ten feet away. Inej must find out everything about her.

- On an entirely unrelated note, that girl who comes in almost every day to the all-day breakfast restaurant that Inej waits tables at sure is cute. Inej latte-arts a request for her phone number. Nina loves it and her.

- They get to know each other over ice cream and make it halfway through a movie before both receiving individual texts from Jesper (he’s been trying to orchestrate a team-up for months). Cue them both having to ad-lib excuses for why they have to go Right Now (”that was... my dog. he just died” “oh that’s fine I have to pick up my niece who I completely forgot until just now was coming into town from the train station”

- But of course they run into each other fifteen minutes later at the bank robbery that’s going down, except Nina is still wearing the same lipstick from their date and Inej doesn’t miss details like that (she totally wasn’t staring at Nina’s mouth, learning that it’s possible to be jealous of an ice cream cream. Totally not). “Oh,” Inej thinks. “Oh my God. Oh my God fuck.”
