When a man could not sleep, he often distracted himself. In Xander’s case, this meant measured steps in an equally measured perimeter. With hopes, of course, that if he lost a ceaselessly wandering mind in careful observation of his surroundings he could finally rest.

But perhaps his watch was too careful. Maybe he was too cautious,  too paranoid. In his opinion, however, that could not be.

“Who goes there?” He asked to rather innocuous surroundings, “You would do best to show yourself, coward.”

“H-hah, I don’t think neither of my parents knew half the things I got up to, if not all of them, so I guess I’ll just take this as something that Sir Mycen doesn’t know about. Or, at least, I’d… hope.” With a nervous glance strewn about, he coughs into his left hand and tries to square his shoulders.

“One time, while he was out of the village, I decided it was about time I cooked for myself, all by myself. I didn’t want to keep relying on supervision and all, right? Since I was growing older and had to be a man of my own! Or… so I thought—” Laughing at the antics of his younger self, Alm can only offer a shrug. “I was almost eight at the time— I think it was when Mycen got back that Celica… arrived abruptly into my life, too.”

“So I, uh… grabbed what I could to make a simple stew, right? At least, it looked easy to make it and I had helped plenty on cutting vegetables and the meat for it before! With… supervision, of course.” Oh boy, that wasn’t even the mischievous part…

“And I, uh, I didn’t want to get water from the well, and at the time I was under the impression that the wine bottles Mycen kept were… his water, right? It’s what he called it, so… I…” … Tried to make stew with wine.

“… it didn’t end well.”

Goodness... Daedra was unsure what the reasoning, but the gods seemed to have deemed this quite the eventful day. Hearing Caeldori’s retainer at her door, the Queen rushed from her seat to answer his call. Saizo rarely addressed her unless she prompted the exchange, which meant if he was coming first...

Opening the door, Daedra glanced outside to see him standing alone, looking rather dreadful. True, his expression said little through the normal mask he wore, but to her, something seemed... off. 

“Saizo, what’s wrong?” she asked in worry, deciding to get right to the meat of things. “What’s the trouble?”

“So uh, I heard you’re guy around here with the stuff l’m looking for.” Mark said in a quiet voice as he sidled up to the ninja. “I got some stuff you might be interested too.” Lyn was just watching the scene with moderate interest, this was just Mark being Mark to her. But when he opened up his robes to show the ninja his hidden sweets stash she just had to facepalm at the silliness of the whole situation.

“Mark, you did not just drag me all the way into a far flung corner of the castle just to trade snacks did you?” She asked shaking her head.

“What if I did?” Mark said sticking his tongue out at her before turning back to the ninja. “Asugi I heard your name was possibly, anything you see strike your fancy?”
