"Dorys & Eli” review in Vents Magazine:
Dorys & Eli is a deeply engaging listen that doesn’t ask a lot from us in exchange for a treasure chest of evocative tones, rich textures and unforgettable melodies that will leave you wondering where this chilling band has been hiding all this time. There’s a few rough edges that could stand to be sanded down a little in future efforts, but by and large, I don’t know that you’re going to hear another acoustic-oriented album this spring that has as much soul and sublime emotion as this one does, and I say that knowing full-well just how many great LPs are due for release this month. Keep a close eye on Dracula as they move forward – I know that I definitely will.

Here’s a huge part of why I’ve been so quiet lately! It’s been life-affirming to watch all of this hard work come together and I’m so excited for you all to hear and experience what’s coming. To paraphrase John Waters it’s a joy to never have to work with assholes, and on the contrary I am grateful as hell for the mind-blowingly smart and talented people who are helping to make all of this happen. #Repost @sweatrecords ・・・ Thrilled today to announce our new in-house label: @sweatrecordsrecords!!! Read the article at the link in our bio and join us on Sunday, 8/26 at the shop for the label launch party! We’ve got some incredible vinyl releases in the pipelines and we can’t wait to share them with all of you 💜💜💜 More coming soon... #sweatrecordsrecords #miami

We’re thrilled to share this brand new single & video from RICHIE HELL, the first off of his upcoming full-length album on SRR. “No Hay Sol” features the technicolor psychedelic art of Francisca Oyhanarte (aka Mrs. HELL) animated by Kent Hernández.
“Slow burning ‘70s Molam music from Thailand with mantric percussion and afro-celestial choirs.” -RICHIE HELL

Incredibly grateful for another feature for Dracula in Alt.Latino’s weekly roundup!
Back in October, we featured Miami folk duo Dracula's first official single, a dreamy, mournful cover of Selena's "Como La Flor." On Friday, the duo released its first album, Dorys & Eli, 13 songs in English, Spanish and one in Japanese. Of all their adaptations of folk songs from across the English- and Spanish-speaking worlds, their rendition of the old Cuban trova ballad "Veinte Años" is one of my favorites. Every Cuban family loves this song.
Dracula remembers being invited to play at a nursing home once. The facilitators thought their renditions of these old songs might comfort some of their Alzheimer's and dementia patients. Dorys and Eli remember hesitating over this song, since it's about love that deteriorates over twenty years. "Si las cosas que uno quiere / se pudieran alcanzar / tú me quisieras lo mismo / que veinte años atrás," the song goes. The pair's version in particular swells and lingers with their joint harmonies over Eli's nylon guitar, making the already evocative song particularly compelling. Needless to say, they didn't play it.

Las Nubes “QSW” featured on NPR Alt.Latino’s songs of the week!
Two thirds of Las Nubes haven been behind the counter at Miami music institution Sweat Records for years. Born as Ale Campos' solo project SMVT (when her music was far heavier and doomier), Las Nubes is a fuzzy, feminist post-punk iteration of her roots in Miami hardcore. Now that the store has started its own label, the band is releasing its debut album, affectionately SMVT soon. The second single (after the great "Hellbag") off the bilingual album is in Spanish, and asks the question QSW, "¿Qué significa whack?"
For the video, the band asked friends, family and fans to send them clips that made them feel saudade, including one of a family of women singing ABBA's "Fernando." The intimacy of the lyrics, the fuzz, and the visuals contribute to the song's overwhelming atmosphere of being invited home. — Stefanie Fernández
