Huge congratulations to our pal Gus Lopez and the entire team at the Star Wars Collectors Archive as they celebrate 30 years of archiving the galaxy and collating information from every corner of the globe. One of the very first Star Wars sites (and we speak as a site with roots reaching back to 1995) and the first of many collecting sites, the SWCA has developed from 1994 to becoming the premier hub for knowledge, information and detail that so many deep-dive collectors find invaluable. When I started the Star Wars Collectors Archive in 1994, the original idea was just to have a place to share images between friends who were fellow collectors. We had all grown up with Star Wars as kids and were nostalgic about tracking down toys we had missed or hadn’t saved in packaging. We were the first generation that was Internet-savvy, so had a powerful advantage in building our collecting knowledge over previous generations and were able to network with collectors around the world and make discoveries most people had not widely known. When we started, we never thought the Archive would have this impact on the community. We sometimes got complaints about not doing frequent enough updates, and we still get complaints about our outdated web designs, but we all have busy lives and never wanted this to be a chore and become one of those sites that needs to work 24x7 to give the latest news. We wanted to build high quality, timeless information out of a labor of love when we felt inspired. One of the things I get a kick out of is meeting people who were drawn to Star Wars collecting by the Archive. Over the years I have met so many collectors who told me that our website is what inspired them to become a Star Wars collector. The original concept was to build something by the community for the community, and I am thrilled that 30 years later, this is still the case! Congratulations again to the team, and here's to many more. [amazon box="1647225221"]

"[GEORGE] WANTED TO CREATE THE IDEA THAT JANGO FETT'S ARMOR BECAME THE EVOLUTION FOR THE STORMTROOPERS."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on concept art for phase I clone trooper armor and the armors genesis, the bounty hunter Jango Fett, artwork by design director Doug Chiang for "STAR WARS: Attack of the Clones," c. 1999. Lucasfilm Ltd.
AOTC/TRIVIA FACT: You can draw a line from Boba Fett’s helmet to the clone troopers.
OVERVIEW: "After completing work on the "STAR WARS: The Phantom Menace," art director Doug Chiang started "Clones" just a week after the prior movie’s release. It was a continuation of an exercise in world-building. “When we started working on the prequels,” he said, “the designs and the direction took me for a complete loop, because George wanted to try something new and establish a whole aesthetic guideline for the whole "STAR WARS" universe.”
This is evident in the clone trooper armor, which made its first appearance in the film. “This is really the fun of working with George,” Chiang explained. “He wanted to create the idea that Jango Fett’s armor became the evolution for the stormtroopers. So I literally took Jango Fett and his armor and basically kept the original design that Joe Johnston and Ralph McQuarrie did. Then we started to blend it towards the classic stormtrooper helmet that we saw in the original trilogy.” The initial “phase one” trooper in "Clones" shares a T-visor design with Jango and Boba Fett, whereas those in "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" more closely resemble the stormtroopers."

So are we getting new movie and TV trailers for tomorrow SW's celebration?
yes! we're definitely gonna get LOTS of new content this weekend!
tomorrow is the lucasfilm's studio showcase which is at 11am london time (that's like 3am pacific rip me 😭) and they'll show some teasers and trailers. last year, they showed a teaser for Mando S3 (although they didn't release it on youtube), the andor trailer (which they did release on youtube), I think they also did tales of the jedi?? and they talked about some of their new shows in pre-production. I went to this panel at swca last year and they also let us watch the first two episodes of kenobi!
there's also an andor panel that day, so maybe whatever they reveal will be during that time. then, there will be an ahsoka panel on saturday, so they'll probably drop the trailer for that. and there are lots of other panels so new content will be abundant for sure!
last year, they didn't livestream the main panels but they said they'll livestream "select" panels, so I would read this and keep youtube open if you're interested!

Thought I would bring a few photos over from twitter, too... but it was an absolute delight to see Ewan & Hayden on the Star Wars dot com stage at Star Wars Celebration today! We'll be remembering this for a long time.
