💫Swap AU Details💫

- Unlike SAMS Moon, Eclipse is VERY affectionate towards Lunar for no discernable reason

- Star keeps his hat draped over his shoulder to keep it out of the way while working

- Sun has a strawberry squishmallow called "Strawbaby" and he gets very upset if anyone touches it. Only him and a select few people (Space, Lunar and Taurus) are allowed to touch it

- Taurus is meant to be a mix of SAMS Castor and Pollux's personalities. He's very serious when it comes to training Sun or other astral stuff, but most of the time, he's very chill and playful and loves to learn about earth stuff

- Jack can spin his rays and does it frequently as a stim

- Sun is likened to strawberry lemonade or strawberries in general due to his colour scheme, but he actually does love strawberries (especially dipped in nutella)

- Sun is more scared of Pollux than Castor (but he is still scared of both)

- Bonnie never got fixed or an upgrade (he never wanted to)

- Space usually gets invited to girls' nights with Roxy and Golden Freddy (they say he acts like a girl anyway)

- Eclipse is a very heavy drinker

- Moon has a crush on Space (NOT because I ship Eclipse and Earth, that's just how Moon is)

INTO THE LAKE WITH YOU, MUD CHILD

My part of a retroactive art trade with @anxiousapplepie ! "Retroactive" because I was already drawing this before we agreed to make it part of a trade, heheh. December 2nd edit: BEHOLD!... THEIR HALF OF THE TRADE... Eleven whole pages of trade!! Go read it go read it go read it

I read this post about their Role!Swap AU, and, like, multiverse shenanigans? Check. Characters goofing off and having fun? Check. Several opportunities for slapstick humor? Check. Conclusion: I really wanted to draw it. Physical comedy is my specialty. :p

This thing is kinda all over the place composition wise (looking at you, relative sizes of speech bubbles) because there is Too Much going on in these panels and I Did Not plan ahead of time, lmao. This was supposed to be doodlier than it ended up being, so as a growing pain it's a funny jumble of consistency. One of these days I'll be able to doodle without getting carried away. 😂

More rambling and close-ups under the cut

This interaction in particular is what nudged me over the edge to draw this whole thing. I don't know what Fighter Mirabelle's malfunction is when it comes to the Siffrins, but it lets me make Sif the butt of a joke again, so yeehaw! His hat being catapulted out of frame made me laugh when I was thinking of what to do with the composition-complicating hat in question.

Also my personal take is Siffrin is 100% having the time of their life here. Making new(?) friends? Being involved in a fun group activity? Well worth inhaling some puddle water and having to go jump in The Lake to wash the mud off later.

Bonnie being so furious they changed art styles wasn't in my original plan, but I'm so glad I thought of it on a whim because it made me laugh Every Time I looked at their face. 😂

Time taken on this whole thing was 42 hours and 50 minutes. AND. I KNOW THAT SOUNDS BAD. IF YOU KNOW I'M TRYING TO SPEED UP MY ART PROCESS. But this project gets a special pass. This was the farthest out of my art comfort zone I've been in a while! 13 (mostly) full-body characters at various complicated angles, 2 backgrounds, learning to use CSP's perspective rulers, effects I'm not used to like water splashes, etc etc. I made progress on speeding up sketching & line art as well! Some of the lines you see are just extremely cleaned up sketch. I was able to let myself fudge things more too. For example, Mira's dress is a very "dude just trust me" simplification because I don't know how the clothes folds would work at that angle. ^^;;

So while there's still a handful of things I'm not happy with, it's worth it for the learning experience and perfectionism-busting progress! Also for the sake of drawing silliness, of course.

Oh, lastly; the KO sprite is the one from in-game, so it was made by insertdisc5 and not me.

siffrin (researcher)

- first one i did

- he has stars in their eyes!! though one is much easier to see than the other

- remember that one idea about sif using their prosthetic to blind people? i think his special friendquest attack would be smth similar. light blast that stuns an opponent for a turn like that one sasasaap sadness

- if everyone else is stunned he doesn't have to worry about being the slowest in the party. or getting hit when they aren't in their shell/cloak.

- i spent a good while just trying to figure out their expression

- astronomy name? light pun name? flash of genius?? supernova?

mirabelle (fighter)

- mira is about to kill a man, or maybe a strong sadness. good for her

- i spent a while just trying to figure out how to pose her

- i think she'd either get a giant paper-type attack (to make up for a lack of paper a V) or a really big self-buff. maybe a giant paper attack that gives her an attack buff afterwards

- isabeau in canon has a lot of support moves but considering mira's party (housemaiden siffrin traveller bonnie) i think she should be more of a dps. researcher!isa can still be a support

- oh or!!! maybe she heals herself/the party some of the damage she deals.

isabeau (chef)

- may or may not have referenced the sasasaap true ending a bit

- i think the cut-in would appear whenever he runs in to take some damage for someone else

- after friendquests he might be able to counterattack? probably for more damage than bonnie could

- there would probably also be a change for when isabeau's hp is low

- somehow his cut-in ended up the smallest

- imagine if you will: cook!isabeau running in the way of the king trying to grab housemaiden!bonnie during the kingquest end

odile (traveller)

- JUST ATTACK BABYYYYY

- massive paper type move that gives no jackpot points. king will die instantly

- grabbed the way she holds her book in the jackpot

- took the longest to draw her hands i had to take a picture reference

- journal has a blank cover

bonnie (housemaiden)

- i thought it would be funny for bonnie to run across the screen every time instead of getting a formal cut-in but i did consider the formal cut-in briefly

- i think bonnie's special friendquest skill would be a really good revive all/heal all because of memory of promise in canon

- also there is no way bonnie isn't getting stressed from being a kid on a pretty much doomed mission (without the loops)

- wonder how many times bonnie's heard pity from people. including the party!! this child is the saviour of vaugarde

- at least if they work hard enough no one else will get hurt!!!

Traveler Isabeau Is SO SO SO SO Cool!!

If I may, can I ask his dynamic with the rest of the party? Or what roles the rest of the party have?

YES YOU MAY!!! also thank you teehee hope these are interesting enough cause I will say Traveler!Isabeau is pretty similar to canon Isa imo.

So first off Mirabelle and Isabeau, who at first kinda bumbled around each other due to Isa's resting bodyguard face and scary appearance. After a week though, Mira could see he's a good guy and they bonded over their shared love for books! (Isa often read while on the sea). Oh also Mirabelle is the Researcher!

Siffrin (who is the fighter now) is very quiet at first but had to stifle his laughter at Isabeau's antics the longer they were traveling together. They both are not proud of their career's and find themselves quietly bonding over their violent histories.

Odile (Chef now) and Isabeau are pretty close to the canon dynamic with Isabeau playfully getting on Odile's nerves a lotttt. This Odile is a little more petty and will trade blows with Isa often (though its all in good fun).

Bonnie (housemaiden) and Isabeau are also very close to canon, they are very very sibling coded and maybe the biggest difference is this Isabeau a bit more violently protective of them.

Drops the world's weirdest WIP teaser and does not elaboration.

Okay some explanation: I'm workin' on this thing based on @anxiousapplepie's Role!Swap AU, and I'm trying to be zoomy about it because it'll take an eternity otherwise (I gotta draw 13 characters total, help). So I thumbnailed Fighter!Odile's pose without thinking too hard on it.

Then much later, my brain connected a dot and the gotdang Friday night meme started to haunt me. It's not the exact pose, but the vibes are right. So I broke my usual "no posting WIPs because it ruins the surprise" policy to get this out of my system.

It holds me accountable to finish this eventually at least, since it mmmight get interrupted by the ISaT Gift Exchange? You know how it is with stale WIPs, they can be hard to pick back up sometimes.
