It was her favorite, this routine they’d gotten into. They both walked Henry to the bus. She didn’t know why they hadn’t done it before, hadn’t thought of it before. Why, for so many years of his life it had been a game of give and take, stealing and sneaking and fighting over something that was so easy to share. But they had gotten here. And that’s what Regina loved.

Not the actual walk, although Storybrooke at this time of day was always a bit misty and birds would sing in the trees and the chill in the air never failed to wake her up. But no, what Regina loved most was what this walk meant for all of them.

The ages of struggles, what felt like centuries of arguments— they all led to this moment. And when she walked beside her son, Emma just to the right of him with an easy smile on her face, she was reminded of just how far they had all come. And she really couldn’t be happier.

Until, as they inevitably did, they reached the bus stop, and Henry had to leave. Some days he would turn to her first, and something would flutter in her heart that she wouldn’t be able to do this much longer.

Within the infinite stretch of the curse and everything that tumbled out so quickly after, time with Henry had always moved so relentlessly. And she wasn’t ready to give this up yet. Not when they had just made it work so well.

But she would kiss him goodbye nonetheless, being sure to look him in the eye and show him how much she loved him. Those were good days, the days where he turned to her first.

But her favorite days, those were the days where he chose Emma. Looked at his other mother and smiled as she kissed his forehead. Those were her favorite days, because moments later, he would turn to her. And when she kissed his forehead, she could barely taste mint chapstick lingering.

It was the closest she would ever get, she knew, but it was something. And she would take something. Anything.

She would take the quiet walks back to Main Street before they both went separate ways to their jobs. She would take the days that Emma offered to buy her coffee at Granny’s. She would take the days where they were deep in discussion about whatever issue Storybrooke was having this time, Emma seemingly forgetting that she had a job to get to and following Regina all the way up to her office.

And she would take the awkward days, too. The days where they walked so amicably until Emma’s shoulder accidentally brushed hers, or she tripped on a root or a rock and Regina’s fingers dug into her arm. Those days, Emma always got very quiet, and she would look at her shoes the rest of the way back with a practiced distance between them.

But Regina would take the quiet. She would take the awkward. She would take whatever tiny pieces of this woman she was allowed to, and never complain. And if that was all she got, for the rest of her life? Well then, she would count herself the luckiest woman in the world— in any world. Because having even a piece of Emma Swan was a blessing.

And if she went home some nights, the awkward nights, and cried herself to sleep over everything they could have been— everything she wanted so desperately it hurt— well then. That was her own problem. And she would let it all out in the privacy of her bedroom, wake up the next morning, place crimson armor on her lips, and do it all over again. Because despite everything, dropping Henry at the bus stop was still her favorite part of the day.

oh lord... where do we begin. let's start with me meddison/grey's anatomy wips.

so you were never a saint, and i loved in shades of wrong. this wip is currently in progress, two chapters on ao3 so far. basically my take on an angsty s2 meddison. they run into each other constantly at joe's bar and are very sad.

hollywood au. my meddison hollywood au in which meredith is unwillingly dragged into the spotlight after finding out her boyfriend is a. married, and b. famous. she gets a guest role on the same tv show as him and his wife. things spiral from there.

dead derek s4 au. basically what the title implies. a 'what if' scenario in which derek died in s4, and meredith and addison connect over shared grief.

tedstina fic. this wip is if after owen cheats on her, cristina shows up, drenched, at teddy's apartment all 'i didn't know where else to go.' there is lots of sad, gay, pining.

now... we move on to my swan queen wips. there are a lot, be prepared.

sad regina mills fic #1. a very angsty wip about regina's relationship with food, set during s1 of ouat. she's not dealing very well with henry hating her, and she turns to one of her coping mechanisms, which may or may not land her in the hospital.

sad regina mills fic #2. set after cora's death, little snippets of regina reflecting on her mother, and childhood. some hurt/comfort, also hurt/no comfort so.

say don't go song fic. regina reflecting on herself and emma in the middle of the night, with the dagger, after emma's sacrifice post s4 finale. (also regina really misses emma and doesn't know what to do with herself.

s6 regina is sad about emma getting married fic. has this been done before, yes. but i want to do it. anyway, buckle up, this one is very sad. our favorite lovable idiots fight, and make up, there are 'i miss you' texts, and lots of lesbian pining.

camelot hurt/comfort au. a little ficlet, (which could spiral into something bigger if i'm not careful,) in which emma seeks comfort from regina on a day when the voices are really loud. there's bed sharing and cuddles, and also hook is thrown into a tree.

the hanahaki au. um well... this is exactly as it sounds. set like 4b-ish. regina starts coughing up flowers one day, and it slowly gets worse until she's almost dead.

there's bed-sharing in this one. after a fight with her parents, emma shows up at regina's place. there are feelings, angst, and surprisingly maybe fluff.

the road-trip fic. uber driver x runaway bride. that's all i'll say.

neverland rewrite. except swanqueen, and mentions of torture. two hurt women heal together and find their son.

9. a ship that isn't your OTP but that you enjoy

Within Supergirl, I think I totally could've gotten into Kara/Lucy had Lucy stuck around longer. The dynamic there is really juicy and antagonistic, with Lucy being in the military and clearly distrustful of aliens, and god the repressed sexuality to boot.

Outside of Supergirl, definitely swanqueen. I didn't get gay vibes when watching the show, but when I was exposed to the ship, I realized that thematically it worked really well (I mean, a kid with 2 moms? Love is the most powerful form of magic, when Regina teaches Emma magic?). Sometimes I think I ought to rewatch with the ship in mind.

16. a tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate

That Kara never says anything about having kids, while Alex does.

It's immensely important to Kara that she fall in love - that's been a theme since season 1. She wants to find her perfect partner at a game night (and clearly I believe she found her 😌). But kids? Doesn't seem to interest her. She's excited to be a cool aunt, but never really talks about having them herself.

The reason this is important is because characters who don't want kids are usually portrayed as compassionless, cold, career-oriented. (And I can love those characters! Cristina from Grey's Anatomy was a fantastic character!) It's nice to have a character who is compassionate and warm as a person, who is a bit more normal about her career.

And it contrasts well with Alex. Because Alex is very disciplined in her job, and is a total hardass, and is a deeply committed mother. You'd expect them to be flipped, but the show quietly inverts the common trope ❤️

This isn't to say people can't headcanon Kara differently! But I think it's underappreciated on the show that a woman can be portrayed as endlessly kind and yet not a mother (and not planning to be one).

(For me, I HC Kara as not wanting kids, but feeling deeply guilty, because as the Last Daughter of Krypton, she has a duty to have them. Which makes Argo a different type of relief in season 3, knowing her people live on, and she doesn't have to feel that pressure.)

look. canonically, hook is a cishet man in a long-term relationship with a woman. so as fun as it is to hc them bi4bi, im afraid killian jones is just a boring straight man who probably wouldnt sleep with a man,,, ever. however, IN HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH A WOMAN, emma def pegs him sometimes(often)lmao. so no argument to be had.

6. which ship fans are the most annoying?

swanqueen and it's not even close. a lot of cs fans are pretty cringy, ill admit with my chest, they are, and i'll also admit that sq is a based ship in a lot of ways, even if i dont PERSONALLY like it, but the levels delusion and mental instability in certain sq circles....

25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing

i have two:

"emma's character got ruined in s6/by killian and it is reflected in her wardrobe" and then you look at season 6 and see that EVERYONE's wardrobe & makeup sucks, its just more apparent in emma. TEQ looks are terrible in season 6 and i will not be hearing anyone out, literally just look at her rouge. the guys barely have style so its tough to judge, but look at their terrible haircuts, look at belle's maternity wear

oh and idk if this is a complaint neccessarily but what really grinds my gears is when ppl dumb down ouat to 'that crazy fairytale show thats literally a soap opera'

About that hc about Henry thinking SwanQueen where a thing in season 3. Since I read that I have a scene in my head where Emma needed to talk to Regina really urgent so she had to take Henry with her because no one had time in that moment and he didn't wan to spent more time with Hook so she took him with her to Reginas office. She put him on the couch and they left him for a few minutes alone to discuss things and when he looks around the office he sees a baby photo of himself and Regina on her desk. And THAT was the moment where that wrong story took even more shape and Henry was totally convinced that Emma and Regina where a thing when he was a baby and that Emma left her because of her fear of commitment. The next day he bring it up at the breakfast table and Emma couldn't do something else but to agree. Because from that moment she was like "Yeah why not. It makes sense for the kid so it's ok." She also believed that this story would be a good alibi for him to spend time with Regina without them having to make anything difficult up.

And now think about the reaction of everyone in the town!!!

zelena & emma bromance.

it takes her a little while to get over the whole killing neal thing, but the more time they’re forced to spend together in family function-settings they realize how well they get along. both had crappy childhoods/abandoned by their parents, scrappy and hotheaded well into young adulthood, sometimes do harmless but chaotic things just because. zelena and emma are the pair that would pregame shots in the bathroom and go on the walk on thanksgiving and come back trashed because they couldn’t deal with snow otherwise. emma introduces zelena to late 90s/early 2000s teen movies (mean girls, 10 things i hate about you, clueless, etc) and zelena starts acting like a socialite from downtown la and wears sunglasses indoors. she puts robin in a basket and carries her around like she’s a purse dog and will only communicate with a purple flip phone she bedazzled herself. zelena gets emma drunk one night and convinces her to be turned into a flying monkey so she can feel what flying is like. emma notices that zelena put pot into the brownie mix mary margaret left out and doesn’t say anything, letting everyone get absolutely trashed while zelena sits back cackling at the havoc she’s wrought. regina is always furious with the both of them but still cooks enough for both of them to have leftovers when they inevitably wander over to the mansion. they fight over who gets the good spare bedroom every time they both spend the night.

emma/zelena bromance is my favorite concept (yes im rereading island of lesbros by coalitiongirl again)

first of all, for activities they do together i'm just gonna subtly link this hc list about emma and regina doing crafts because honestly it all still stands

for some different ones though:

due to both of their busy jobs, most of the free time emma and regina have as a couple is pretty domestic - it would be boring, but after the lives they've lived, that kind of boring is really, really nice. getting in from work to cook dinner together, joking with henry, sharing a glass of wine and watching netflix before bed...

(i do think the swan mills family have to have a roster of who gets to pick what they watch every night though, bc these bitches will Not agree)

on the weekends, they'll often go for walks as a family, either along the seafront or hiking in the woods and they'll just talk and decompress from the week. emma always brings a bunch of snacks in her bag, and sometimes she and henry will get carried away having fake sword fights with big sticks they find. regina thinks this is ridiculous but Endures it and secretly does find it entertaining (sometimes she'll use a little subtle magic to either put a stop to it or help one of them win). then it's home for a home-cooked family lunch.

they're both open to trying new things though, especially activities the other one loves. i firmly headcanon that after things settle down, regina starts going to the stables and horseriding again as a hobby, and once or twice emma comes along to better understand her wife and just see what all the fuss is about. she's definitely Not Great at it, and pretty clumsy on horseback, but she likes the animals and she loves seeing how relaxed and free regina is there.

usually emma just plays henry's video games with him, but a few times they drag regina into it - who is less than impressed but secretly starts to enjoy it - and then at some point both emma and regina's competitive streaks kick in to the point henry will hear them playing and goading each other long after he's gone to his room

they also really prioritise their relationship as it develops, because they had such a stressful and unconventional start (lol) and their work lives are fairly intense.

like, emma's never really been one for proper dates or romantic gestures but she knows how much regina appreciates and values them so she goes ALL OUT and she ends up really enjoying it. and so little traditions get established - they make sure to have date night once a week at least. usually it's pretty simple, dinner out at a nice restaurant or even just Granny's, but they both make sure to dress up and sometimes one will buy flowers or a bottle of wine.

as for big spoon/little spoon, you are 50000% Right.

most of the time, emma is the big spoon. they both just feel more comfortable and natural that way and i agree, regina feels so safe when she's wrapped up in emma's arms - they both always have an amazing sleep when they fall asleep this way.

(forgive me for Going Off with this but they're actually big cuddlers. they're not too physically affectionate in public, but at home, well.

henry jokes that they're sickening but he secretly likes it, because it's a reminder of how much his family truly love each other.

regina is actually so physically affectionate, she loves being touched and held and playing with emma's hair. if they're on the couch together, she Will end up with her head on emma's shoulder or sitting in her lap . emma actually loves this about her, even if she teases her for it - it makes her feel so loved, and she feels honoured to be shown a side of regina that no one else gets.)

My friend, @wishedmeawayagain and I have always had this swanqueen thing stuck in our heads and I just have to talk about it. Imagine this: season one, Regina and Emma have like a tentative relationship that develops into more, but just as it does the curse is broken and they're forced apart. CS and OQ happen, but in season five Killian stays dead. Regina and Emma both understand eachother bc they've both just lost someone incredibly important to them. The relationship they had builds again into love. Imagine it was a SQ wedding. That the Evil Queen's happy ending was the child of the two people she hated but now loves like family. It would've been so beautiful and it breaks my heart that that opportunity was missed. The show couldve been so much deeper with that added layer.

Also!!! They could've had Hope. Hope was the HC name of the SQ baby for like ever and in still pissed that CS got it not gonna lie.

A year ago, me and a friend created a comolete timeline where we did a "rewrite" of the show in which we discussed the relationship between Emma and Regina put all our favourite hc in (and we fixed that Rumple x Evil Queen Story line!!!) and in which SwanQueen became canon at the end. We were so excited when we create it and I am still in love with every single idea to fill the plot wholes.

And till today it's still just a timeline with many bullet points.

christmas in storybrooke

- the town absolutely goes all out for christmas, we're talking lights on main street and multiple celebrations at granny's starting the day after thanksgiving

- snow and charming go absolutely insane in the loft, with two separate christmas trees, tinsel and little santa statues littered everywhere. once baby neal comes around they start leaving out cookies and milk "for santa," and one year they even pretended that santa landed on their roof (it took a lot of convincing to get emma to agree to dress up in the santa suit)

- emma never really cared that much for christmas, so she doesn't do much decorating for her own place. there's one of those fake tabletop trees with a little plastic star in her dining room and that's really it

- emma and snow get into arguments about whether or not diehard is a christmas movie (it definitely is) every year. david and henry have somehow managed to avoid getting roped into the conversation, just nodding their heads aggressively once they're finally with one of the women to get them to stop talking about diehard because for the love of the gods snow can't we just put on miracle on 34th street and no david we can't because our daughter is a treasonous christmas heathen and she needs to be educated on christmas spirit

- despite this consistent argument though they always manage to have a good time during the holidays, and they tend to go a little too hard spoil the everloving fuck out of emma and henry and neal to make up for lost time

- regina goes for a classier christmas celebration, sticking with the black and white theme of the rest of her house for her seasonal decor. she waits until december 1st every year to put everything up, but always goes for a real tree that touches her ceiling because of course she does.

- if you think she didn't make christmas the most magical time of the year for henry when he was a kid you are absolutely wrong. even when he was a baby she would go on walks with him during the first snow of the year, and they only missed 2 years (the year the curse broke and the missing year) but rest assured she made up for it.

- regina keeps a picture in her wallet that graham took of her and henry when he was 6, they were making apple pies in the kitchen listening to one of her old christmas records and henry got flour on her skirt. he was scared she was gonna be upset with him because she'd just had it dry-cleaned, but she just put flour in his hair and went back to baking like nothing happened, which of course ended in a massive flour fight and the picture is her holding henry, their foreheads touching and massive smiles on both of their faces

- once the charming/mills/gold clan finally settled, no more villains left to fight, it was decided that they would all have dinner together on christmas day (they're all almost certain it's just so that henry could see everyone together but they don't mind)

- they tend to have said christmas dinner at regina's home, since it's the biggest of all the possible meeting spots between them and as much of a fuss as regina puts up, she secretly loves cooking and baking and putting on a show for snow to prove that she's got the best-decorated house out of all of them

- emma's always the first one to show up, toting with her wine and whiskey because after the first year of dinner when she showed up with burnt cookies and extremely lumpy mashed potates regina barred her from ever bringing food again (even though she definitely ate all of the cookies emma brought)

- the charming clan shows up next, bringing with them a metric fuck-ton of food that snow's spent the last 3 days preparing, and handing off baby neal to regina because as soon as he's in the house he's toddling around looking for her and shouting "up gina" once he sees her, and who is she to deny this adorable little baby the uppies he wants (plus when they're all together she seems to be the only one that can calm him down, giving him the smile she only gives to henry and occasionally emma when she's had enough to drink because she's got the biggest soft spot for children)

- zelena shows up with baby robin, and despite her differences with the rest of the family in the past she makes tea and sits down with snow, sharing baby stories and laughing as emma, david, and henry fight over who gets to be waluigi in mario kart (regina now has both children in the kitchen with her, sneaking them bites of her apple turnover filling while she finishes up dinner)

- gold and belle are the last to arrive with baby gideon, and for as cold as gold normally is he's always the one to bring gifts for the kids (and even some for the adults) as well as more alcohol, because for a full family event there definitely needs to be alcohol

- so they all sit down at the dining room table, an old christmas record playing and children practically climbing over the table as everyone tries to get a taste of the food that's been laid out before them. snow insists on making a toast before letting any of them eat, raving on about hope and family and emma is the one to stop her, begging them to dig in already, and david agrees, and soon enough everyone is filling their plates and stuffing their mouths

- it goes well for a while, until zelena makes a comment about how gold has "really made his way through the family, eh?" and snow chokes on the food she'd been chewing, and when david gets up to help her he hits the table and knocks regina's wine into her lap, which makes emma laugh, which makes henry laugh, which makes the little trio start laughing, and all the while belle is red-faced with her head in her hands, and gold is struggling to even look at the rest of the table, while zelena is howling with laughter and shouting "merry christmas!"

- (emma's now patting down regina with a napkin, as the mayor is muttering some insult about her father, and emma is stuttering through an apology for laughing, because "oh you're so getting punished for this later, miss swan" and emma. is both excited and terrified)

- and as henry looks around and the mess around him, of adults and children all laughing in each other's company despite the strangeness of their circumstances, and he can't help but smile, because this is his family, and he is home

“Miss Swan, we are about to go into a meeting to discuss allocation of town funds; are you sure convincing me to go drinking with you tonight is the best idea? Or do you wish to have the same broken coffee pot at the station?”

Emma shut her mouth, raising her hands in defeat as her and the Mayor walked together towards the monthly City Council meeting they had scheduled. Emma absolutely hated these things, having to sit for hours in a room as people she didn’t even recognize talked about “town issues” that were frankly bullshit, but it gave her a reason to listen to Regina yell at skeezy old men, which was always nice.

“I’m just saying,” the blonde began again as they rounded the corner, holding the door open for Regina as she walked past, “it wouldn’t hurt to live a little. Granny already offered to watch Henry for the night anyways.” As she started again behind Regina, she had to force herself to stop focusing on the smell of Regina’s perfume wafting towards her. Who even smells like apples and lavender?

“Oh, yes, because I so love the idea of that old wolf watching our son while we down drinks at the Rabbit Hole,” Regina snarked, but Emma knew her voice lacked the bite it did when she was really against something. “Tell you what,” she stopped abruptly, Emma nearly running into her. “If you can convince Leroy and the dwarves to fix those clogged pipes off of Main Street, I’ll consider getting one drink with you and your insipid friends.” Somehow, in the time Regina had started talking, she’d backed Emma into the nearest wall; the two were so close that Emma could practically feel the other woman’s breath on her cheek.

The blonde inhaled sharply, eyes flicking around Regina’s features. “And what if I don’t?” A challenge, clear as day, and Regina quirked a brow.

“Well, then, my dear, you get to fix the pipes all by yourself,” Regina smirked, walking away and leaving Emma dumbstruck against the wall.
