I took the rigged animation of Star vs. the Forces of Evil for granted; it was very unique and somewhat different from typical hand-drawn animation, but in 2017 I realized that the Mercury Filmworks episodes looked even better than the later ones and since then yearn for Disney Television Animation to do more SvTFOE content with that particular studio.
Tumblr media
This is undoubtedly one of THE most beautiful pieces of rigged animation ever animated for a Flash cartoon.
This was Megan Ferguson’s last episode under the uncredited role of Lead Animation Supervisor at Mercury Filmworks, where the amazing Bob Jaques used to work.
Hey, @littledigits — Was this (or any of the animation on Star vs. the Forces of Evil Season 1) inspired by Bob Jaques???

I rewatched svtfoe (only season 1 for now). It's a completely different perspective the second time around, but now I'm giving you a list of crimes (or something like that) Star has committed. I'll admit I'm not an expert on law.
Not Earth: A fight in a shop (shop dimension?)
Earth:
- Does fighting with inhabitants of other planets count? Theoretically bringing fights (war?) to Earth
- Transforming a butterfly into some strange (dangerous? mutated?) creature that kidnapped a human
- Setting the school on fire and covering it with mewberty's goo
- Destruction of public and private property (signs, lamp posts, cars, club dojo, she turned some things into hands too)
- Turning a person into a troll without their permission
- Exposing people to the risk of losing their health or life (e.g. during a rugby game where she "mined the pitch"), (threatening Gustavo? that weird guy from Europe), (turning pirate waiters into smaller versions, i.e. shrinking them), (I also have it written down here that Oscar could have suffered because of Star's strange behavior, and Marco has experienced this many times)
- In the episode where it was Brittney's birthday, she turned a guy (at his request!) into a piñata, then left and people jumped the piñata, so involuntary manslaughter?
- Kidnapping of males without their consent, I don't want to go into whether there was also molestation
And that's just season 1. I have other characters written down as well, but I'd rather collect more and put it all in one post.

I always wanted to point it out but for reasons beyond my understanding I’m doing it only now.
Remember when in season 1 Toffee prepared a fancy meal table and even dressed up appropriately for it, but Star blasted him in the face when he started to speak to her?
In battle for mewni when he first met Moon, she laid down a whole meal space in front of him as she said “I wish to speak to the general”
Idk, it feels like Toffee thought that’s how mewman royal negotiations work and tried to arrange it with Star but he didn’t know she is a rebel princess who doesn’t listen to her mother. it’s kind of funny.

My Top 25 Crossover Couples (Pt 2)
(Please click on picture for better quality)
It's finally finished! I've had this sitting in my PicsArt drafts for over four months, and that's why some of the other pictures are blurry because it's been rendered so many times, but there had to be changes made based on my mood!
Top 25 Crossover Couples (Blank) by Daniarts19 on DA.
(This will also be the last time that I'll use this template by Daniarts19 due to her disrespecting my DNI and breaking her promise about not saying mean/rude things to me.)
Loona (Helluva Boss) x Izuku (MHA) (Dekoona/MoonRabbit): My friend @amethystoceandespiser got me to ship them. I'm invested in their chemistry and emotional connection.
Sunita (ROTTMNT) x Tucker (Danny Phantom): My friend @amethystoceandespiser brought this ship to my attention and I love it!
Octavia (Helluva Boss) x Danny (DP) (Spectral Owl): This is the ship that started the friendship between me and @amethystoceandespiser and I love it! Their emotional connection and chemistry has my heart.
Jazz (Danny Phantom) x Raph (ROTTMNT) (Tough Cookie & Smart Cookie): This ship came to me after my friend and I made our Scott Pilgrim AU. They're both older siblings who just want the best for their younger siblings. They understand each other's pain.
Mayor Lionheart (Zootopia) x Anna (Frozen): My reasons for shipping Anna and Mayor Lionheart are explained in this post here.
Sparky (Atomic Betty) x Amethyst (Trollz) This ship came to me as a kid.
Buttercup (PPG) x Nergal Jr (TGAOB&M) I love Tomboy x Nerd dynamics, but it's even more interesting considering that Buttercup fights monsters for a living and Nergal Jr. is a monster-demon-demigod-nerd-boy, lol.
Lobster Claws (SVTFOE) x Bubbles (PPG) (BubbleClaws) This crackship is based on a joke between me and my sister @small-tragedies
Goo (FHFIF) x Blossom (PPG) (GooBloss/PinkGoo) This ship came to me when I was a kid, and I thought that they were cute together.
Alice (AMA/AMR) x P/Pinocchio (LOP) (Palice) I have to thank my friend, @frie-ice for getting me to ship them.
Violet (The Incredibles) x Varian (TTS/RTA) (Virian) I have to thank @virianhaven for getting me to ship them.
Lola Bunny (TLTS) x Minnie Mouse (Minola) I have @dawn64 to thank for getting me to ship them so hard.
Lucifer Morningstar x Poppy (DuckPop/PopStar/ApplePop) I have @hah-studios to thank for getting me to ship them. Watch this video here.
Rapunzel (Tangled) x Fred (BH6) (Fredpunzel/Rapzilla/Sunzilla) I have to thank @rapunzelcrossoverqueen for getting me to ship them.
Minerva Mink x Marvin Martian (Minervin/MartianMink) I have to thank @dawn64 for getting me to ship them.
Panini (Chowder) x Lincoln/Warren (Loud House): I had an idea based on the "White Hare" episode, where Lincoln has a dream about being a rabbit named Warren with 15 extra sisters but instead has an Alice in Wonderland-type adventure being transported to Marzipan City, and you can probably guess the rest.
Ami (Sailor Moon) x Sonic (Sonic X) (SonAmi, I guess, lol): Being a die-hard SonElise shipper, it's easy to assume that Sonic has a type~
Daisy Duck x Cruella (Cruaisy): I started shipping them years ago when I watched this Disney short called Electric Holiday. I've made a couple AUs where Daisy works for Cruella in the fashion industry, and they become close friends and lovers in a May-December relationship.
Tom (Tom & Jerry) x Bright Eyes (Pound Puppies Season 1): I like to headcanon that Tom and Bright Eyes are childhood friends to lovers. I explain it more in this post here.
Frank Wolff (Jungle Cruise) x Jack Sparrow (TPOTC) (SparrowWolf/WolfSparrow): I don't really ship characters from live-action movies and shows, but Disney Mirrorverse got me to ship these two goofballs.
Cinderella x Gojo (JJK) (Gojoella): Don't get me wrong. I love Sukuella, but I solely blame @peachudumplings for giving me Fairy-God-Gojo, and thus I ship Cinderella and Gojo too, lol.
Stitch (Lilo and Stitch) x Tinker Bell (Peter Pan): My reasons for crackshipping Stitch and Tinker Bell are explained in this post here.
Alice x Peter Pan (PanAlice): I've always shipped Peter Pan and Alice, but because of their Disney Mirrorverse counterparts, I shipped them harder.
Yuji Itadori (JJK) x Yuliy Jirov (Sirius the Jaeger) (YuYu): They have so much in common! That's all I'll say about these two for now~
Tiana x Nanami (Tianami): I have to thank @peachudumplings for getting me to ship them so hard. They're perfect for each other~
I am cringe and I am free!
Here is a link to my Top 25 Crossover Couples (Pt 1).

Hazel is probably gonna have fairy powers because of all the nuts we got from season 1, like her having pasta puberty, being chosen as the next godkid, becoming a fairy for a day, and having an anti fairy. Pretty sure dev is gonna be a fairy too but hazel will probably achieve it early because she’s more mature. Who knows maybe they’ll have special powers to defeat the final boss, maybe hazel needs to witness something painful and traumatizing in order to achieve it.
Also I think maybe Timmy was supposed to fulfill that destiny as well, maybe jorgen and the council saw it too secretly but saw how he used his wishes, but they secretly let him continue with his fairies and learn hoping it would change him but then they decided that maybe it was best to let him go or something and that’s why he didn’t get it. If hazel or dev find him, they’ll probably help him achieve it slowly and convincing the council that he deserves a second chance to be with his family and help them. Once he does, he’ll probably be more powerful and rare then the other fairies, and his wand will be stronger then any other normal fairy wand. After everything he fixed and the things he caused, to me it makes sense. Also I’m getting this idea because like in svtfoe, eclipsa never achieved using magic or becoming a butterfly, but she holds a lot of power and a lot more destructive too, she even became a butterfly while destroying the magic. Sure she might not have been able to use it much or know how to control but if she did then she would have been known for being the strongest queen in history. Anyway, this is just a theory not sure if it will happen cause the writers of fop new wish don’t seem to be the type to write that stuff but it would have been cool.

I am begging you, watch Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.
This show is so slept on, but lemme tell you - it’s good. The show has a plethora of good racial, queer and neurodivergent representation, and it’s just good.
Legit none of the main characters are white. We have Kipo, the main, who is half-Black and half-Korean (ignore her pink skin) and her crew Benson and Wolf, who are both Black. Benson’s love interest is Latino/Asian. In fact, if I’m correct, the most important white character in the entire show is the main antagonist for season 3.  Edit: why the hell did I write black twice.
(Spoilers in this paragraph) A side character, Asher, who is in seasons 2 and 3, is canonically non-binary. I can’t remember if their pronouns are used in-show, but the creator confirmed it on Twitter. On top of this, Benson’s love interest I mentioned? Yeah, his name is Troy, and he’s canonically pansexual. On top of this, Benson actively comes out in an episode where Kipo asks him out; “I like you as a friend...because...I’m gay!” Very sweet episode.
While there are no canonical neurodivergent characters, Kipo is heavily adhd-coded. Wolf has clear trauma from her “family” and the abuse she went through. The show tackles racism (in a way), abandonment, betrayal, found family and healed trauma from families.
Now the plot. The story is a refreshingly original tale of Kipo, a girl that lived in an underground city her whole life. This is because “the surface” has become overrun by “mutes”, animals that have doubled, tripled, quadrupled or plus in size. They can also think, talk and scheme - and they hate humans. However, when Kipo is thrown to the surface with no hope of getting back home, she has to work with what she’s got - which is a small but angry Wolf and a flaky but loyal Benson. And a whole lot of mutes that would like her head on a stick.
Last thing - the cast is actually pretty star-studded. Kipo is played by Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko Miyashiro, The Boys - Glimmer, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power - Katana, Suicide Squad). Seasons 1 and 2 antagonist Scarlamange is played by Dan Stevens (Matthew Crawley, Downtime Abbey - The Beast, Beauty and the Beast - Alexander Lemtov, Eurovision; the story of Fire Saga). And Dave is played by comedian Deon Cole, who was also in Black-ish at a point. Edit: probably the biggest name, at least to me, is the side character Lemieux, portrayed by Grey Griffin (Azula - Avatar, The Last Airbender, Moon and Jackie - SVTFOE, Ice Queen - Adventure Time, Masha - The Owl House, and many more).
Honestly, this show is so good. Please please please give it a shot. If you like Amphibia, The Owl House, Hilda or SPOP, watch it.
Okay final edit I promise: The soundtrack fuckin slaps. Apologies to everyone in the tags pointing out that I missed it

Saw someone who apparently really really hated the new direction Link Click season 2 took, to the point they felt like it ruined season 1 in a way that hurt and so on, and I am not here to attack a solely subjective opinion nor to say that Link Click is perfect. But this belief that season 2 was too different from season 1 did get me thinking, because...
Huh. The biggest criticism people had for season 1 was that the main characters outside of Cheng Xiaoshi (Lu Guang and Qiao Ling) were underdeveloped and/or the origins of their powers were unexplained. People freaking out over season 2 means people care more about these characters now. So it's just interesting in that regard. :ooo
I can't comment on this narratively yet, although I have seen people disagree that this goes against the themes of the show (I actually think it could lead to a really intriguing thematic breakdown, since Lu Guang seems so on top of things in season 1, but he isn't in season 2).
Basically, it already leads to a conversation about grief and regret and letting go. Season 1 very explicitly tells you to do these things, to the point of spelling them out repeatedly. Season 2 and beyond will likely implicitly explore these things, even if they directly state something else.
Contradictory themes can still be meaningful; the world is contradictory, so if we see a series challenge itself with a seemingly different set of themes (at first glance), it doesn't automatically mean it's a bad thing. I can see how it may feel like a sellout, but Link Click explores such complex ideas that there's still lots of themes we can enjoy even in the new direction the show is taking—especially when looking at things about moving on and letting go and being human (which we now know Lu Guang is. He isn't the more "perfect" time diver we saw in season 1). And this does begin to unravel the mysteries set up by season 1, and based on the fandom growth, a lot of fans do like it—which, again, I think this indicates an interesting turn of events.
Because the fact is that before season 2, Link Click has always been praised for its narrative but not really its characters. Now, despite the criticism against season 2, it's being praised for both. If nothing else…
We can see more to these characters now, beyond just Cheng Xiaoshi's pain. Now we see Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi's childhood, Lu Guang's pain, Cheng Xiaoshi's growth, and how they're not only just a group of friends, but a family.
And given the trend of episodic shows turning more narrative-driven, from Gravity Falls to Steven Universe to SVtFoE to Amphibia and more (even in donghua, we have Scissor Seven and The Legend of Luo Xiaohei and even God Troubles Me basically doing this too)… I think a lot of people do want to tell deep, emotionally-connected stories, and if fandom has proven anything, it's that connecting to the characters are crucial. So at the very least, season 2 has achieved that!

SvtFoE Rhombulus Rewrite (Pt. 6)
Tumblr media
Hey, it’s been a while since you saw my face-
All jokes aside, sorry for being gone for so long. In my defense, I was in college, then I had seasonal depression which made it hard to do much of anything creative-wise. This is admittedly one of my favorite fan projects, so I always feel bad about not updating it. But I have managed to get back into it again (finally) and wanted to release one of the easier parts to do. (@bawfulio @sagesilentfire tagging you since you guys have been following this AU since the beginning and have been waiting the longest for an update)
Anyways, Monsters and Mewmans, Crystals and Chimeras, welcome back to my Rhombulus Rewrite! Check out this post if you have no clue what the heck I’m talking about or you want to read the previous parts. As I said in Part 4, this part will be one of the two possible ends I have to this AU. Ya’ll can choose which one you prefer. This one is called the “Closest to Canon Ending” and is also sad. It will not focus on the problems with the ending as a whole and shall instead be more about fixing Rhombulus’ part. I’ll admit, though I prefer the second ending as a finale, I’m pretty proud of this one as well, as it has some stuff I’m pretty proud of writing wise. I did make myself sad though, so there’s that.
Closest to Canon Ending (AKA Ending 1):
- This ending is kinda if I switched Rhombulus and Hekapoo’s parts, but Rhombulus had a more proper and fitting redemption. Also, it might make some character choices make more sense.
- So, the first big changes happen in “Ready, Aim, Fire”. We overhear Rhombulus arguing with Hekapoo and Omni about how to handle the Mina situation, saying that even though they may not like it, they need to protect Eclipsa and her family since it’s the right thing to do and they can’t let Mina take over.
- This is when Hekapoo reveals that they have been backing Mina the whole time, which horrifies Rhombulus. He says that he is disappointed in them, and will go out to support Eclipsa and co, even if he has to fight Hekapoo and Omni. He then runs outside.
- We don’t see what happened to Rhombulus until “The Right Way,” where he jumps into the battle as things are looking dire. We get some pretty cool action stuff from him, which should be fun.
- He even helps out various monsters, using his crystals to protect them. It brings his arc full circle, showing him go from someone who fights monsters to someone who protects them like he would protect any other innocent civilian. It’s a good moment for him.
- But unfortunately, Rhombulus gets seriously hurt by the Solarian Blade multiple times, and since he and the rest of the MHC are basically monsters, the blades actually work on them. I think it’ll be the most shocking (and plot convenient) if Rhombulus loses his tails, as they are his main weapons and method of self defense.
- He’ll manage to play it off like he is fine, but will need help soon. Maybe he’ll convince them that he probably won’t die. He might not even realize the blades work so well on him, especially since his magic is making him more asymptomatic. He’s good at hiding how bad he is doing, mainly because he is still able to walk and run and other stuff. But he can’t fight and needs to sit down a lot, so he won’t be able to do much during the Moon reveal.
- Instead of that horrible first kiss scene between Star and Marco, I have decided to give them a platonic love scene in a way, since I want the ending to not seem too random but still keep things platonic.
- Star is clearly upset and overwhelmed by everything, even though she might not be able to express it properly. She eventually tensely says that she’s going to do [insert helpful yet distracting task], and Marco offers to help her. She agrees, and while they’re working, Marco says that he knows something is bothering her, and she can talk about it if she wants.
- Star confesses that she’s been feeling extremely alone and scared lately. Multiple of her friends are severely hurt and could easily die, and she can’t do anything about it. She fought so hard and is trying to stay strong, and even despite all that, she feels like she’s failed at keeping people safe.
- Marco says that she is the reason less people have been hurt, and that everyone chose to fight and stand up against Mina, knowing the risk they would be in. It’s not her fault this happened. He then assures her that no matter what, they will always be best friends, and he’ll be there for her no matter what.
- Pretend we’ve also had a lot more great friendship moments between them this season, so that the show clearly shows their dynamic as important to the plot.
- Anyways, back to everything else. This rewrite is called the Rhombulus Rewrite after all.
- “Pizza Party” will be renamed “Where the Blame Lies,” and instead of the MHC having a pizza party, we will see Hekapoo and Omni arguing over whether or not they made the right choice, and if they should go after Rhombulus. It’s a very short, tense scene, where Hekapoo believes that Rhombulus is wrong, but they should still go look for him to talk, and Omni believes that Rhombulus is “too far gone.”
- They decide to split up, with Hekapoo choosing to go after Rhombulus, and Omni choosing to do his own thing.
- Meanwhile, Rhombulus ends up fleeing with Star and co, pretending that he is fine, until he ends up collapsing while they are running. Mina declares Rhombulus a traitor, and attacks him, causing yet another major blow to his body, where many of the other scars have already spread far.
- As Eclipsa and Marco help him up and try to support him, Mina declares her plan to wipe out all monsters and monster-supporters. The group tries to escape, but are soon surrounded. Mina goes in for the kill, but a portal opens up under Star, Marco, Eclipsa, Moon, and Rhombulus, whisking them away. They find themselves in the middle of a forest, saved by Hekapoo.
- This is where “Tavern at the End of the Multiverse” starts. Hekapoo is horrified at Rhombulus’ condition, and after picking him up, she says that she knows a place where all of them can hide. And so she takes them to the Tavern at the End of the Multiverse. This space is also a bit of a safe zone for all different types of people, and has some private rooms if needed.
- Hekapoo takes Rhombulus into one of them to see if she can help him somehow. Star argues with Moon, but they are interrupted by Hekapoo, who says that she needs them to come over to where Rhombulus is. He’s in terrible condition, with the wounds having fully spread all over him.
- It’s a really sad scene, especially when he begins telling Hekapoo that he can see Lekmet, and they are going to be reunited soon. Hekapoo is extremely distraught and basically in denial, while Rhombulus is basically accepting what is happening.
- He tells Hekapoo not to worry too much about it, and that their time is close to ending anyways, he just wishes he could have seen everyone win. He tells Star to do better than those who came before her, and that she will be able to fix the world. Then, my boy dies.
- While I still don’t like the whole “destroy all magic” plotline, I thought that something like this would be cool in helping explain the rationale for a few characters. In Star’s case, this is a bit of a breaking point for her. This is where she begins to have her “I hate magic” moment, because she just lost a close friend due to the damage magic can cause when in the wrong hands.
- And Hekapoo being chill with Star destroying magic makes a lot more sense. She too just lost someone important to her, basically her favorite sibling, and is in a more apathetic state. Hekapoo is mad and sees that the MHC has fallen down a bad path that has slowly destroyed them. Her attitude is less chill and carefree and more angry and resentful.
For Ending 1, I don’t really have any other changes, because all I really wanted to do for this ending is the scene where Rhombulus dies, so that’s the end of that. I think Ending 2 will be a much better ending as a whole, but I thought of Ending 1 first, and kind of liked aspects of it. It’s very bittersweet, and I wanted to make a version that stays faithful to the OG.
However, the OG is also terrible, so I decided to make another version anyways, especially since I wanted a version where Rhombulus can live. Stay tuned for Ending 2, which will hopefully be coming soon! Or at least, a special post before that giving extra context for Ending 2 (spoilers, I reworked Mina a bit).
Thanks for all your support, and I hope you like what I have in store, since I’ve been working on Ending 2 for a while now. Hopefully this will keep you company in the meantime.

5 years ago I drew Star Butterfly overreacting to The Salty Barnacle’s captain a la Bugs Bunny in the Merry Melodies short “Hair-Raising Hare” for National Drawing Day.
Not typical of Star’s behavior; I know, but... I like it. I like it.

watching a svtfoe ranking list and as someone who sorta just stopped watching consistently after the season 1 finale and just loosely kept up with plot important stuff afterwards, im kinda shocked at how the show premised on “weird little alien teen girl has to learn how to use magic and things get sillay!!!” shifted so quickly to “this girl needs to just stop using magic all the time lmao shes so immature”
like girl thats why i was watching. just let my girl cook!!!

svtfoe finale was absolutely MESSY as hell but like. so much of the criticism i see just feels wrong..
putting it under a cut bcz this post ended up being longer than i expected, spoilers obv / svtfoe critical stuff still even if i am defending it
like "star merged two worlds causing total chaos just so she could see her boyfriend of like 3 hours" is something ive seen and that just isnt. really how it happened??
like, no.. star didnt know the two worlds would merge, like ive seen a lot of criticism of her and the finale being "star merged the worlds" but put it as if she Knowingly merged them. She didn't.
Also I've seen the "boyfriend for like one day" comment used to explain why her actions were so rash but it completely overlooks the previous relationship they had??? like they were best friends for 2 years, they spent every single day together for months at a time. They just started dating, yeah, but using that as a reason to why she shouldn't have tried to stay with him is stupid because it makes it sound like she just met him.
also, if anything them just dating could make it make More sense depending on how you interpret it. She's been crushing on this guy for 2 years and the second they get together she has to never see him again? she has to be stuck on a world she JUST wanted to get away from for a bit? a world she wanted to stop needing to hold together, a world that is going to be even more in shambles now? with a mother who just betrayed her???? ofc shes gonna wanna go to earth
like yeah, destroying the magic was an incredibly irrational decision but sometimes it feels overblown, like blaming her for things that just were not in her control. Like I dont get why people make Star sound worse than she is because like, she did some pretty shitty things already??? why do you have to make up stuff to be mad at the character for bro theres enough that actually happened..
i wish this finale was better written, i do genuinely think it had the potential to be a great and solid story. especially the destroying the magic stuff!! i think if the show built up to the concept of the multiverse being better without magic then that could have been great! instead they have the toffee storyline which was incredible for seasons 1-2-the beginning of s3 and it just ... gets dropped?? like they barely brought him up in season 4?
i want this show to get a reboot someday where the writers actually consider the overarching story better, i really think theres some great stuff that could be done with the destroying the magic plotline if it was built up and executed better.

So I see this storyboard panel going about a lot lately as supposed proof Marco Diaz was meant to be trans. Which look, yes, this was the official storyboard panel but it is from the Season 4 episode of SVTFOE entitled “Ransomgram”. The crew of SVTFOE addressed the trans Marco theory at a CalArts panel during Season 3 where they expressed that;
1. Marco was intended to be a cis male character with feminine interests.
2. They were happy trans people could see themselves in Marco.
3. They would try not to disprove the theory.
The chances are, at most this storyboard panel was the crew just throwing the trans Marco side of the fandom a little bit of evidence for their theory but given what we know, it remains doubtful the plan was to make it canon. This particular episode was directed by Sabrina Cotugno who is trans masc themself (although they came out after the show) and would on occasion interact with the trans Marco tag on Tumblr.
Something I’m not sure of, is whether this colouring was intended for the final episode. It definitely didn’t make the final cut and I have asked Sabrina about this but haven’t received a response. I am remembering something about Sabrina though.
So back during Gravity Falls, there was an episode that featured Cupid which Sabrina Cotugno was a storyboard artist on. The pendant for the necklace, which Sabrina drew was the trans symbol. Disney changed this so it was an overlapping male and female symbol.
The above panel would serve as a pretty glaring confirmation of Marco being trans, especially with the already existent theory. While trans Marco wasn’t intended to be canon, I think it is pretty safe to assume that Disney may have censored the above storyboard based on past behaviour and what this colour choice would insinuate.
@marcodiazisatransgirl, thoughts?
