A fantastic turn out on this less than ideal, and a bit wet and rainy, Suva morning for Suva Marathon Club Saturday Social Run. Congratulations to all those who took part! Running is the easiest and best form of exercise.

Route was along the seawall same as always along the Suva seawall boardwalk to the 2500m mark and the Maritime School and back!

With only one day remaining to register for the Munro Leys Suva Challenge 2019, over 30 teams are raring to take part in the half marathon and a mixed team marathon.

Race Director, Gina Houng Lee said the community event scheduled for Saturday May 4, 2019 is inclusive and is open to everyone. We encourage everyone to participate, from local and international runners, corporate groups to families and individuals. “ We already have expressions of interests from serious and fun runners including participants with disabilities. We are encouraging more participants to register, as we will have a safe course with full road closure. Our marshals and volunteers will be briefed to ensure support throughout the morning.,” she said.

Francis Chung, our first person with disabilities athlete who crossed the full marathon line in 2014 will also be taking part.

Felicity Ali, a sign language expert will also be present on the day to assist with sign interpret the prize giving ceremony, which will be held at the ground floor, Albert Park Pavilion.

Yeshnil Karan, the two time gold medalist from the recent school athletics meet will also be participating.

For those who want to change the racecourse into a mini fashion show, you can come with your fancy dress and walk away with the best-dressed prize.

The course will be along the Nasese seawall and Thurston Gardens. Participants can come and walk in the fun run/walk doing a 5km or a 10km distance.

The women and men’s half marathon (22km) starts at 6.00am and the mixed team marathon starts at 7am.
