I would like to kill Studio Ghibli pronunciation discourse. The Japanese name of the studio is スタジオジブリ or “Sutajio Jiburi”, pronounced with a “j” sound. It’s named after an Italian airplane, the ghibli, pronounced with a hard “g” sound; this is the name used in English: “Studio Ghibli”.
You aren’t “pronouncing it wrong” by saying Ghibli with a hard G any more than you’re pronouncing it wrong by saying “studio” instead of “sutajio”, nor are you “pronouncing it wrong” by saying Ghibli with a soft g/j sound: words change pronunciation as they pass from one language to another because the native speakers use the sounds that make sense to them. Ghibli changed to jiburi (despite being more accurately transliterated as ギブリ or “giburi”) when it passed from Italian to Japanese just like قبلي or “qibliyy” changed to ghibli when it passed from Arabic to Italian; there’s no reason the pronunciation wouldn’t change passing from either Italian or Japanese to English as well to fit what makes sense to us.
Just use what makes sense to you.
#I personally prefer to pronounce it with a hard ‘g’ like in ‘ghost’ since that makes the most sense to me#imo if it was supposed to be pronounced like the japanese name over the italian one it would have used the japanese romaji spelling#and it’s probably still anglicized the way I say it but it’s what makes sense with the sounds those letters intuitively make in English#but it’s fine the other way too#studio ghibli#english#language#japanese#italian#ghibli

What is that with Ghibli food that makes it so appealing?
Cuz there's no way I would eat a bowl of ramen in real world, it doesn't look that good for me at all
But I'm literally drooling over ALL those food...
that isn't even real?!?
Like, that's Just a tomato...
Why does it look so good?!?
And that...
I have no idea what is that, but I know I would give all my money to eat something that good looking
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

I’m learning more about Japanese grammar rules! に, へ , 和/ はand の.
SI was bored today so I decided to use duolingo to practice, and I decided to research some stuff by myself.
I will be using the phrase from duolingo as a base:
八時に学校へ行きます
hachi ni gakou-e ikimasu
I go to school at 8 o’clock
I looked up the meanings of に and へ because I didn’t know how they fit into the sentence.
I found this http://www.punipunijapan.com/japanese-particle-ni-e/ resouce (which looks pretty good and aimed at kids so basically me, a noob lmao
Ni and He (e) can be exchanged to mean ‘to’ e.g.
Uchi Ni Kaerimasu 【 うちに帰ります】( I’m going TO home)
also learnt how to use の and 和, I think you use 和 the same way you use ‘guo’ in Cantonese to indicate that the sentence is about a specific thing/person, but guo is also used like の to indicate that something belongs to someone else, so it’s kind of complicated LOL.
I tried a sentence out:
あなたのかばんはかわいい!!
Anata no kaban wa kawaii ! !
Your bag is cute ! !
For another example, I’m gonna use studio ghibli:
using の :
スタジオジブリ の - means Studio Ghibli’s
so you could use it to say ‘ I love studio ghibli’s animations’ - which would be
スタジオジブリの アニメーションは大好きです。
Sutajio Jiburi no animesyon wa daisuki desu.
の - ‘s
和 ‐ indicating the previous thing is the thing you’re talking about ( e.g. If you say ‘I want your hat’ , wa would come after hat because it’s the main point of conversation).

Joe Hisaishi 'My Neighbor Totoro: Image Album' Tokuma / TJJA-10014 The image album for the painfully endearing Studio Ghibli classic, My Neighbor Totoro. What's an image album you ask? It's a kind of companion piece common in Japanese media, designed to flesh out its subject. Here composer Joe Hisaishi was tasked with "making songs which children really want and can sing out loud with their mouth widely opened". The result is 11 songs that capture the beautiful child-like energy of the film. Includes 16-page booklet of all the melody scores. This is the first time this has been available on vinyl. @normanrecs @ghibli_official #MyNeighborTotoro #TonariNoTotoro #となりのトトロ #StudioGhibli #Kabushiki gaisha Sutajio Jiburi #株式会社スタジオジブリ #MyLatestVinyl https://www.instagram.com/p/BqIoRt2nCNs/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=und2t4ov8a0o
