I swear the charts for my testosterone shot is wrong. The shot itself felt way too wrong and 1ml of reandron does not seem enough for 12 whole weeks but they're telling me it's fine. Am I going insane??
#am I going insane?#the sustanon shot was also 1ml for only 3 weeks#every other shot took ages to do and this was done in like 2 seconds#i felt nothing im concerned

I feel like it's important to add that with nebido (the 8-12 weekly injection) it's expected to be more painful depending on a variety of factors. If the vial is warmed up in your hands first and then injected slowly it should just be kind of uncomfortable (and can leave the area slightly bruised just because of the volume) but if not warmed up or injected more quickly it can vary from a little tender to feeling like it burns as its injected. My nurses tend to do it on the quicker side which is helpful for my needle anxiety but does tend to feel pretty painful - its important to note that the pain SHOULD NOT last for more than a minute or so after the shot, if it does you need to speak with your nurse or gp. It is fairly normal for the muscle to be a bit tender because of the viscosity and volume but if it's to the point where it hurts to move or walk you need to tell them. It might feel a little bruised when touched but any swelling, redness, or itching is an immediate sign to talk to your doctor about other options.
I figured that this was worth mentioning just because when I had my first shot done I thought that all forms of injections would only feel like an immediate pinch so I panicked and didn't know what to do, only to find out that sometimes nebido shots just suck and other times they're just more of a dull ache.
PSA for trans men, trans mascs, and enbies on T:
Your injections should AT WORST feel like a hard pinch if you hit a vein on accident. It should NOT sting the whole time, itch, be tender for more than a day, and should not cause significant bruising.
I was not told this when I started, and missed that I was allergic to my shots for the first 2 months I was on T. There is more than one type of oil, and the type of T they prescribe most often is more likely to have allergic reactions. You should not have to suffer more just to get your boy juice. You can also gain allergies over time, so if you start experiencing these symptoms, check in with your doctor!
#hope this wasnt derailing but nebido shots are just like. a game of chance. gotta have all the right factors in play.#would love to be on sustanon or cypionate but im unable to self administer and im at high risk of nerve damage (even a blood test has caused#it in the past) so i dont want to have to make the trek to my doctors weekly

after recently gaining access to my medical records, i am mystified to discover that instead of recording my regular t-shot as "sustanon injection, intramuscular" (as is standard), the doctor i saw last week chose to record it as "problem: gender. history: ongoing."

Third month on T, baby!
Folks, I'm beginning my third month on testosterone!!! So far so good!
Monday I went to the hospital for my shot and they couldn't give it to me because it was out of stock. So they told me to wait and call them later in the week.
From what I heard from my fellow trans bros, this is not the first time a shortage of testosterone enanthate has happened and it can last weeks. So I went to a drugstore and bought an alternative (Sustanon), and did the shot myself.
I hope this is the only time I have to do this (doubt it), but this is the reason why I don't want to get rid of my ovaries. There could be a time when Testosterone is not available at all for different reasons, and I need hormones to have healthy bones.
Anyway, Update on the changes:
I am very pleased to inform you all that there are BRAND NEW HAIRS on MY FACE! They are like five thin short hairs in my chin that were definitively not there before and I am very happy about it. You have to get really close to see them but they are there!
I already had light fuzzy hairs in my upper lip but now they have darkened. The same happened with the hairs in my tummy.
I have many pimples in the back of my neck and upper back.
I have gained weight. And I think it is no muscle, I am a little bit fatter.
Everything else (libido, strength, energy levels etc) is just the same.
My period hasn't come, but PMS sure did. Went a little bit neurotic for a week and then I realized it was the week before my period usually comes. So there is that.
I will post next week to tell you how the Sustanon feels like in comparison to enanthate.

Hi, thanks for the blog it's really helpful!
I've went through the answers but I didn't really find one that covers my situation fully - I just started T and after a self administered shot 1.5 weeks ago I still have a slight lump in the place of injection (tho I think it's getting better idk). I know that I probably did the shot pretty poorly due to the nerves, but I wanna check out if anything I did after maybe worsened it. Should I try to massage the spot and/or apply heat? Should I try to move the body part more to get the blood flowing? Also heard someone saying that intramuscular could be administered into places with a lot of fatty tissue (butt/stomach), so does anybody know which one hurts worse/gives a worse lump afterwards?
Anyway thanks in advance!
Hi Anon,
Thanks for the appreciation :).
Getting a lump after injecting T is very normal, this is nothing to worry about and even when administered by medical professionals, you will be left with a lump. Sustanon usually leaves a smaller lump, while Nebido can leave an egg size lump. You can gently massage the area or apply heat for the pain, but leaving it to disperse itself is totally fine.
In terms of Sustanon, this is a smaller injection and can be injected in the thigh, upper arm, bottom and stomach.
Nebido is a much larger injection and usually recommended to be administered slowly into fatty areas like the bottom and thighs. Nebido is also a thicker liquid than Sustanon so can take much longer to disperse, thus resulting in a bigger lump. Additionally, most UK GPs will not allow their patients to self inject Nebido (some do), so unless you have the approval of your Dr and have been shown how to, do not attempt to self inject Nebido without medical supervision.
It is important with any regular injections, that you alternate sites. So if you choose your bum, do one in the right bum cheek and then the next the left cheek and keep alternating. This helps to avoid muscle wastage and damage of repeated injection in the same site. Some Drs don’t think this is an issue, while other recommend this. So my advice is err on the side of caution and prevent possible damage by alternating sites.
If you are self injecting, your GP, nurse or sometimes the GIC should have shown you how to inject and where is best, as well as discussing the complications and risks of poor injection administering.
Do not attempt to inject yourself without the proper training and medical supervision.

to add to this: even if you don't have itching/swelling symptoms (consistently), your t shots also shouldnt hurt for more than a day or so. i spent 2 years suffering CONSIDERABLE muscle pain for up to a week after injection. as in, i would have a limp and my leg would occasionally give out from the level of stiffness and soreness for a few days post injection. i was convinced this was just a result of the needle going in (its a fairly large needle tbf), and while i experienced itching/swelling a few times in the first year, it was negligible and usually didnt occur at all. but i recently ended up switching to a different testosterone formula and let me tell you:
muscle soreness for days after a t injection is not normal!!!
since switching from sustanon (a mix of 4 different testosterone esters in an oil solution containing peanut oil) to nebido (only testosterone undecanoate in tea seed oil), my muscle pain is gone. the day after injection i can walk normally and i get extremely mild stiffness by comparison, if any. the extreme muscle pain i got before was NOT, in fact, caused by the needle, but likely the weird mix of oils used in sustanon. i haven't been tested for it but it's very likely i'm allergic to some component.
tldr: even if you don't have itching or swelling you also shouldnt hurt like hell days after your t shot. you may still be allergic and you should try a different formula of testosterone.
PSA FOR TESTOSTERONE USERS!!
if you’re getting a lump/itchiness at the injection site, TELL YOUR DOCTOR!! you could be the 1 in 20 people who’s allergic to the most widely used formula of testosterone. how do i know this? turns out i’m 1 in 20 people! (the doctor gets very disappointed in you when you describe an allergic reaction as “probably normal, right?”)
there are other formulas out there! you don’t have to be itchy! who knew! (clearly not me)
EDIT: basically, tell your doctor ALL of your symptoms. even if they seem normal. you never know.

TANNER’S PROGRESS REPORT: JANUARY 9TH 2023 (MON)
Hot damn it has been a good day for art.
So, I cracked the NSFW Patreon exclusive open fully expecting to get the flats slapped onto it today, only to find that the detailing on the lineart wasn't done. Like, at all. I hadn't even started it, it turns out. I was decently annoyed with my past self, as you'd imagine I probably would be, but I got the detailing done, and I pressed on and got the flat colours on as well. All of them, even! SFW and NSFW portions both! It took me many, many hours but it has been one (1) day out of the four I've got before the piece needs to go up on the Patreon and all that's left to do is the shading! I can take my time doing that now and then probably still have time to get the mid-month piece done before the weekend, too!
(This might have something to do with the fact that I bit the bullet and took a vyvanse today just to see if I'd react as badly as I did the first time after it wore off. It did not shift me into the same hyper-competent Vyvanse State™ as it did the first time I took it, but it helped. Furthermore, it should be out of my system by a good three hours by now and we've had precisely zero issues. Good news!)
Tomorrow I'm getting my first shot of my new HRT. I'm really hoping it'll fix my shit, I genuinely don't think the sustanon has ever been right for me but others with similar problems to mine have reported doing better on nebido, so we'll see where we are in three months or so. With a bit of luck, it'll be what we need. ( b ._.)b
Fingers crossed, I guess!

Listen being trans is great we get to break the rules of gender yada yada yada but I get so angry when people talk about it like its a choice or when people claim that making allowances for trans people when it comes to shit like sports and bathrooms is gonna make cis shit heads pretend to be trans and go as far as medically transitioning for... Idk. Clout? Reasons? Like??????? Do you think this is a fucking GAME, Karen? Do you think I endure this shit for FUN?
#Switched to sustanon for my T shots it's 2x as much as I was taking before and it fucking hurts and I am being a big whiny baby about it#Keep having to remind myself that the end result is worth it because folks I do not do well with medical shit#My crippling needlephobia vs my gender dysphoria are having such a war right now it is A Time#Trans#May speaks

5 Month Update!
Well, hello again. Updates have been less frequent because the changes have been as well.
So far:.
One (1) chin hair is terminal. Absolute thick dude there. The otherw surrouding it are still fuzzy.
I shaved my fuzztache, and waiting for it to grow back.
I think this time period is not coming! Yay! (Edit: Never mind, it came the very next day).
Voice hit a plateau since month 3.
I started using minoxidil 5% to help grow sideburns.
So far it's been two enantate shots and 3 sustanon.

When I get my Nebido shots it hurts a lot. I've only had two but it feels like my entire butt cheek is being burnt and the pain only slowly goes away after a couple of days. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi Anon,
This is very normal for Nebido injections. Nebido is a thicker substance, requiring a thicker needle, so is more painful than Sustanon. Pain with both Nebido and Sustanon can last a a number of days.
Some guys get used to the pain, while others feel that Nebido is too painful and opt for either Sustanon or testogel.
If you have any worries about your reaction to Nebido, have a chat with your GP and they will be able to put your mind at ease.
