"Valentine's Day art collection (sort of)"

Happy Valentine's Day! Here are the pen traced versions of my two favorite gay hedgehogs, and here are my TMNT Mutant Mayhem first two couples with my ocs. (I would've drawn Miffy and Reagan art, but I haven't drawn their bases just yet, I'm so sorry about that.)

So anyway, I have a short little story for these three. But since we all know how the first top part goes, I'm going for the bonus Sonadow.

"Nose to Nose" - Sonic grabbed Shadow quickly in a flash by his arms, making the dark hedgehog yelped in surprise. Suddenly, his nose touched the speedy blue hedgehog's nose. Still surprised by this, Shadow is speechless by this, which makes Sonic smile.

"Oh, come on, Shads. Don't act like you never wanted a nose to nose," Sonic said coyly.

"I don't. But just to humor you, I'll go along," Shadow said with a smirk on his face.

The hedgehogs then rubbed their noses together, making their hearts soar.

"I love you, faker," Shadow said.

"I love you, too, Shadow," Sonic said happily.

Shadow chuckled. "I love you more."

"I know you do."

"Alinardo adorkable kiss selfie" - "Come on, Leo! Let's take a selfie together!" Lea called out to Leo from peaking her head through the curtain into his and his brothers' bedroom after finishing cleaning up his twin katana blades with a rag.

He smiled as he put his blades in the corner of his space. "Okay, we'll go and take some with my phone," he said as he stepped out of the room.

"Yay!" Lea cheered. She watched Leo take out his cell phone from his belt, open up a camera app, and gesture the girl to come. She placed her hand onto his shoulder and prepared to smile for the camera. Just then, Lea pulled Leo closer to her face and began to kiss him on the cheek. Blushing, the leader in blue smiles for the camera with his adorkable smile as he takes the photo.

After the photo was taken, Lea took the phone and took a look at it with a smile. "Aw, Leo! We look so cute together! You especially look so cute with that smile."

Still blushing and smiling, Leo has a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "Y-you think I have a cute smile?"

"I don't think, I know," the human replied.

The mutant turtle couldn't help but grinned widely.

"Hey, think you can send me this photo to my phone?" Lea asked as she gave Leo back his phone. "I want to save it and use it for my home wallpaper."

"Sure. I'd would love to," Leo said warmly.

"Susietello surprise kiss selfie" - Susie was studying on the dining table in the Turtles' lair when Donnie was approaching towards her. "Hey, Sue. Want to take a selfie with me?" Donnie asked as he took out his phone.

"Well, I'm a little busy at the moment, but I guess I can relax my brain for a bit," the human friend said as she closed her textbook and set it aside.

They both walked towards the opening of the lair, and Donnie had his camera ready. Meanwhile, Sue was planning how to make this selfie photo more memorable as she was fixing her pastel green hair and her glasses.

"Okay, ready?" the purple clad turtle asked.

"Ready," Sue answered.

The two get close together with the timer set. As Donnie smiled for the camera, he felt a hand on his head and a small kiss on his side of his head. It was Sue, and his facial expression changed from a photogenic smile to a surprised one. The camera clicked, and they both took a look at the photo. Donnie's heart was fluttering when he saw the proof of Sue kissing him.

"Uh, did-did you just?..." he stammered timidly.

"Yeah, I did. I thought this photo would be nice instead of our usual peace signs and making silly faces each time we take selfies," Sue smiled warmly. "Sorry about that."

Donnie couldn't help but blush at this. He smiled back to her. "No. This is perfect. I love it. Thank you for that. I really mean it."

"You're welcome, D. Anything for my best mutant turtle friend ever."

They shared smiles towards each other and began to head back to the lair. Donnie couldn't stop thinking of Sue's actions to the camera. He didn't expect that to happen, but it did. He was surprised, but he was happy that his human crush kissed him. Wish it would be on the lips, though, but oh well. There's always next time.

Bonus Snippet: Wild Child

I don't feel as good about this one as the first two, but I really wanted to showcase how feral Cassie can be.

cw for ingested blood, but not like in a graphic or cannibalistic way.

­­­­­­­­­Cassie’s favorite place in camp was the overturned vending machine. She used to sleep behind it, eons ago, where no one could find her. But now she liked to sit on top and lean against Orev and eat her bag of jojos. The other kids had taken to sitting with her because she told the wildest stories. She wasn’t sure if they believed her or not, so she tried to add extra details because they all definitely happened (more or less).

Ella and Drake weren’t here tonight, still off crying somewhere about almost being killed. Cassie didn’t really blame them—if she thought about it, she got it. She’d been scared the first few times. But it got so boring to deal with each new friend’s fear at first. She’d never been killed yet. She’d never even really been hurt. It was fine.

Every other kid gathered around, though, desperate to know what she’d faced and survived now, only ten minutes from their home. Uncle Kris was busy today, but whoever went out remembered her love of potatoes and brought her back a steaming bag when the other kids got candy and chips.

Orev’s body was warm and solid muscle behind her, holding her up, reminding her she was safe and home and protected. She wiggled herself deeper into his curled form and snatched out the first potato, stuffing it into her mouth as she began. “We were just walking along—”

“What is wrong with you?” Yelped one of the other girls. Emily? Susanna? Something dull. Cassie remembered her, though, because she was always yelping judgments at something.

“What, you want like a list, or?” She was proud of the joke. She’d seen it online, but it usually made people smile.

Not this time.

“You didn’t wash the blood off?” Looking around, Cassie saw the other kids with similar horrified looks. She glanced down at her hands, which were smeared, very slightly, with wildling blood. Orev had taken a full bite out of one of their legs. It had been awesome.

“What? It’s not blood like ours.” All the really young kids here were human. “It just tastes a little salty.”

Their looks got worse. Was this the part where they decided she was Too Much instead of Cool and Edgy? Because she usually hit that part eventually.

Tag Nine People You'd Like To Get To Know Better

FAVOURITE COLOUR(s): Dark, rich purples and reds. Greens: British racing, chartreuse. Bottle greens and browns. Black and white contrasts. Glasz eyes are the most beautiful on Earth. Love a check or tartan pattern. I paint all my miniatures in cold blue/bronze or warm purple/brass contrast unless physically prevented from doing so.

FAVOURITE FLAVOUR(s): Rock salt and woodsmoke and paprika in a thin batter. Rich thick curry sauce - warm and textured, not hot-like-burning. Whole milk and sour cream. Fresh carrots and tomatoes - just chomp those fuckers down. Sourdough and soft cheese. Tea with an undertone of citrus or an abundance of honey. Mulled apples. Dirty chai. And above all, peppermint.

FAVOURITE MUSIC: Tradgoth and post punk (basslines you can slink to), trip hop (take me somewhere far away), post rock soundscapes (the more elegiac the better), prog (but more the Pink Floyd pomp rock than wildly experimental stuff), anything Jim Jarmusch or Polly Jean Harvey ever touch, sad country and sleazy swamp rocks. Music for people who want to crawl into a swamp, cop off, and drown each other.

FAVOURITE MOVIE(s): Franklyn. Withnail & I. Only Lovers Left Alive. I detest busy plotting and spectacle and run on vibes. But also, because sometimes I'm From The Nineties And Also British, Guy Ritchie's entire oeuvre. Sin City has a nice vibe even though it's a nasty piece of work. Possession (1981) and Nosferatu (1979) - I'll watch Isabelle Adjani in anything. Or Eva Green. Give me pale, deathless, insane women.

FAVOURITE BOOK(s): UGH! Anything by Terry Pratchett. S T Gibson's vampire stories. Anything by Susanna Clarke. Earthsea. The first four books of Anno Dracula. Anything by Laura Shepherd-Robinson. Alis Hawkins' Oxford novels. Seth Dickenson's Masquerade and Tamsyn Muir's Locked Tomb. The Wolf Hall trilogy. Sherlock Holmes and weird post-Holmes stuff from Obverse. T. S. Eliot, William Blake, Edgar Allen Poe, Sylvia Plath, and a raft of contemporary Welsh poets - Cath Drake, Katherine Stansfield, Christopher Meredith. If I had a guilty pleasure, Black Library novels (John French, Matt Farrer and Aaron Dembksi-Bowden) would be it.

FAVOURITE SERIES(es): Doctor Who, Lock, Stock..., The Biederbeck Trilogy, What We Do In The Shadows, LA By Night, The Thick of It and... Taskmaster. Taskmaster is my religion. I like seeing the Bit all comics do get tested to destruction. And podcasts: Poorhammer, the 40K Badcast. I get my hobby chat fix from those.

"Surprise Hajidere Hug"

My Susietello art I have finally finished as my final art of 2023 before 2024. Sorry I took a little while. A little trial and error with their poses with the previous page since I goofed up a little, but I have managed to draw them without any mistakes on this new page.

Donnie and Susie may be science geeks, but they both have a lot in common; they love K-pop music and anime, and they join the computer science club together. Donnie also has an interest in astronomy because it's Sue's true passion to be an astronomer when she grows up.

Donnie has completely fallen in love with Susie the moment he sets his eyes on her. Even though she's plus sized, he stated that she is the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. Despite what his peers said about Sue with the false rumors laid down upon her, Donnie refuses to believe the rumors and wants to get to know her and be friends with her. Sue is happy, yet surprised but grateful, that someone who is like her and wanted to be her friend despite what her bully and her peers say about her. As their friendship grew, so were their romantic feelings towards each other.

I wanted to thank my friend on Instagram for helping me with Susie's color pallets months ago. I hope y'all like this and more art is coming to 2024.💜💚🟣🟢

I have wanted to change things around, but I was stymied on how to accomplish what was in my head.  Then Simplesite was sold to a new company and I struggled adding content in a reasonable format. With help, I now have my own dedicated site called Marjays Reading Blog. Luckily, I found Emma (https://emmaleebates.com/)!  She has been so helpful and made my visions work AND has been able to translate all the steps into my language.  I highly recommend her awesomeness.

When looking at the site, first up, after the blog, are the newest of the reviews.  After that are the great interviews by Elise and lastly are the guest reviews.  I hope that helps everyone see and find what they are interested in reading.  I am so happy with the result, I hope you are as well.  There is also a menu across the top that brings to each category as well.  

Elise’s Interviews are much more accessible and easily found as are the guest reviews.  This week she sent in a great interview with Susan May Warren and her book named A Sundown.  Elise also sent in a review of a book called Still Waters by Sara Driscoll.  Elise also sent in a book review Murder at Black Oaks a couple of weeks ago that somehow didn’t get to the right place, so it ended up at the top of the list!
