I just watched "Total forgiveness", got very emotional, and it made me think.

In first "Survivor" Brennan eliminates Ally, but Ally doesn't hold a grudge and gives Brennan a bonus instead. He is shocked and says "But I voted them out! Why would they help me?", and Ally says "He's still my friend and that's more important". It just hit me: this is Ally after "Total forgiveness"!!! This is Ally after the game show that almost ruined their friendship with Grant.

The stakes in "Survivor" are much, much lower, there is no money, it really is just a game. Everybody understands it, Brennan understands it (like he said, his competitiveness is a public image, he's an actor, it's his job, and Brennan-hates-losing is a good public image for entertainment). But when your public persona is that intertwined with your real self, when your public coworkers are your real friends – it gets very complicated. And Ally knows how this very complicated connection can ruin something real for just a show (or, we could say, for money, but none of "Total forgiveness" could've happened if these two weren't actors). And they are not ready to do it again.

Maybe it was unconscious, it probably wasn't a direct connection in their head at the moment, I don't know. I have no idea if they are that good friends with Brennan. And I'm pretty sure Brennan wouldn't mind if Ally got at least a little bit pissed at him. But they don't. They make this little, really unprompted gesture, just to show: I'm not mad at you, we're still friends, and this is more important than any show.
