A structure of Hiyoko survivor mod, currently:
-Would need an official English PC version of DR2 to work
-Sonia dies in Hiyoko's place, the rest of the cases remains (almost?) exactly the same
-Sonia's original role in the trials is split between Hiyoko and Souda
-Souda's crush on Sonia is reinterpreted from "obsessive creepy stalker" to "a teenage boy feeling normal for his age attraction and poorly trying to act like a macho on it to cover up his insecurity" instead. As a result of this and also Sonia's death, pretty much all mentions of the crush entirely disappear from chapter 4 onwards
-Sonia had died because Hiyoko had bullied her into fetching the mirror from music venue for the latter, despite the former inviting her to go there together. The realisation of the fact that she had caused another person's death is the blow that causes the dancer's superiority complex to start cracking
-Hiyoko spends the entire chapter 3 investigation and trial being stuck in a swimsuit because of her not being able to tie her own kimono sash. To her great surprise, no one mocks or sexually harasses her for it, which causes her paranoia to start cracking as well
-Before her execution, Mikan dares Hiyoko to try becoming a better person. "Listen here, you little shit. If you manage to do one truly irreplaceably useful thing for your classmates before you leave the island, I promise to abandon my Beloved in the Abyss and came back to become your personal servant poltergeist. But guess what? YOU WOULDN'T! AHA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"
-As a result of previous three points, Hiyoko starts chapter 4 way more humble and trying to amass control over her immature and bitchy parts. She still visibly feels all-consuming rage towards Nagito and Fuyuhiko, even though she tries to control it as well.
This is all really, really cool and I adore it.
May I offer some notes?
Regarding the second to last point of Mikan criticizing Hiyoko, I don’t quite think she’d do it like that even in her Despair form. The thing is, Mikan does like Hiyoko and only killed her in the original because Hiyoko was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not that Mikan wouldn’t have some ill will towards Hiyoko due to the bullying but it seemed that she was rather attached to her as well.
That being said, I like the idea of a devious Remnant Mikan criticizing Hiyoko at the end like she does to Nagito. So I don’t think she would do it quite as loudly as what you proposed. It would be a more insidious and quiet, singsong suggestion to Hiyoko that could really get under her skin. Think “is it because you don’t have anyone to love?” as she did to Nagito. She would make the same teasing jab to Hiyoko in a more quiet manner that only Hiyoko would understand, something that chills Hiyoko to the core.
That’s my only note. Everything else is quite perfect and I really love what you have!! I can’t wait to see more!

How much do you await from survivor Hiyoko mod? For better or worse, it seems to be the most noticeable not OC-based fangame we have right now.
My biggest concern with any kind of fan game or fan mod is always whether they'll ever reach a conclusion. I mean, how many fan games or fan videos have actually had *endings* and not been cancelled mid-stream by now? I believe the answer is "literally two - the Danganronpa Another games - and that's it"? There's been so many that've gotten dropped partway into their development/release that I've lost a lot of faith in this creative path. (And yes, I'm aware of the irony of ME saying this, the person with all the incomplete fanfics that've stood out there for a long while... ugh. The inner guilt it brings me is real.) But hey, if the person developing "Unforgiven" is still trucking along gradually, then props to them. I'll be interested in seeing how I feel when it's all said and done.
But for now, let's catch up on ALL the asks in my backlog related to the Survivor Hiyoko game mod!
Fuyuhiko may have been an awful person for the majority of Chapters 1-2, but by targeting Hiyoko he was trying to save the life of someone he'd always loved. So I kind of can get that, right? And choosing to target the person who's been a complete asshole towards damn near everybody, you could even argue he's performing an overkill version of a public service. :P The problem is that... well, surely he knew what him convincing them to vote for Saionji would mean for *literally everyone else*, right? It's not like he was going to JUST sacrifice the girl who was clearly an asshole to everybody around her. It wasn't even like he was just going to sacrifice her and HIMSELF — arguably two of the biggest douchenozzles on the island up to that point. No, he was gonna sacrifice 11 totally uninvolved people PLUS himself to give Peko a future. Even if we grant him Hiyoko (because she's awful and consistently sucks) and Komaeda (because he's Here to Cause Problems on Purpose) as freebies, that's still NINE INNOCENT PEOPLE getting killed because of his plan. Did he really think that was an even trade? Did he just not BELIEVE they'd really all die? Or was he just not thinking this through?
I mean, you have to address all of Hiyoko's worst behavior, don't you? If you're intending for me to buy into Hiyoko getting some kind of redemption, you need to confront all the awful shit she's said and done head-on and TRY to make up for it. Even if that's... kind of impossible.
Well... we probably all have "problematic faves." I'm not sure why someone would EVER choose Saionji as their fave, but... I guess there must be some reason why someone would see promise in her. Perhaps the modder really buys into her specious "tragic backstory" FTEs, and they think those things deserve to be aired out among the rest of the group so that everyone can come to a better understanding of her mental issues... or something like that. I have no idea.
It seems I was too late to see this. They deleted it by the time I tried to follow this address. Which... sounds like it's probably for the best.
I finally hunted for and found their YouTube account thanks to you bringing this up! And as for Sonia... well, I guess she doesn't go through much growth during the game, if any. So she's probably easier to remove than someone like Fuyuhiko is... with the exception of the whole Gundham/Chapter 4 part. But she also deserves the death way less than either of them. :P

Wanna see a sad moment from survivor Hiyoko mod?
https://youtu.be/gmz6nu-bOfU
aww..
I like the fact that they tried to keep it consistent with the story where Hiyoko seems to have gone swimming so it’d make sense that she wouldn’t have been there for the monokuma announcements when Hajime and Fuyuhiko arrive.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR DECEMBER:
//Hey all.
//As we all know, it's coming to the end of the year, and we're approaching December time, which is usually the time of year where I start dishing out a bunch of special stuff for the followers.
//Regrettably, I still cannot give a guarantee when I'll be able to return to making the story, but I am trying my hardest to get my affairs in order so that we can come to that.
//One way or another, the story isn't over, regardless of how long it takes for us to get back to it. And the good news is that for December, I have a few really cool goodies for you. Both related to the blog, and otherwise, as well as a few announcements:
//Okay so for my first announcement, I kind of want to get the "bad news" out of the way first. And I use quotations, because hopefully, no one will mind too much.
//As some of you might have noticed, I kind of stopped uploading the birthday card posts for the characters, and in case it hasn't been clear, I've decided that I'm not going to be posting the birthday cards anymore.
//There are actually more than one reason for this. The primary one is it takes a lot out of me, more than you know, to keep track of everyone's birthdays, especially since we have 100+ characters, and I'm prone to uploading/reblogging the posts late, way after the birthday celebrations have happened. It's much easier for me to just stop posting the cards altogether, and getting stressed out about it.
//But another one is that up until now, I've always found a way to balance the dates out with the story, mainly through a lot of mcguffin bullshit that, not only would I much prefer not to do any more...I physically can't.
//Phase 3 has three arcs that happen at the exact same time as eachother, told from three different perspectives of three characters who will each take the limelight. I will not say who, but suffice to say it would not make a lot of sense for the birthdays to be spaced like months apart, when in-universe, these events are happening over the course of the same days.
//Let's say the arcs take me like...5 months to finish. During the time that I'm writing that arc, it would be Kyoko's birthday (October 6th), but by the time I'm finished, it's Hiyoko's birthday (March 9th). In universe, no time has passed at all, because these events are taking place within the same week.
//Yeah, not happening.
//And the last reason is because ultimately, I started doing the birthday cards to celebrate the characters and how far the series has come, but honestly? I think we can all agree that they add basically nothing to the story, and are just there to make the blog's page look prettier.
//With that being said, I hope all of you guys can wish my sister a happy birthday, because she turned 17 yesterday.
//Okay, with that out of the way, I want to reveal four big projects that I'm going to be working on around Christmas/New Years time that, hopefully, will tickle your fancy:
1 - NAEGIRI WEEK 2024
//A couple of you may remember that two years ago, I participated in Naegiri Week, which, like a lot of these ship weeks, is an event dedicated to a specific Danganronpa couple (Makoto and Kyoko in this case) where people will create art media for spaced over a week.
//In the past, I've participated in three of these events before, which were Naegiri Week, Momoharu Week, and Kazukoi Week (which was hosted by Mod Freezethunder) and those sprites are all available on @creepercraftsprites.
//I've always wanted to take part in Saimatsu Week, but I keep missing my chance to, and I didn't participate in Naegiri Week of last year, because I had a lot going on at the time, but I'm happy to say that I will be making a grand return to the event, and participating in 2024's Naegiri Week, which begins on December 23rd.
//And some of my stories even take place within the universes of my fanfics and content, including Survivor and Phantom Thieves of Hope. So stay tuned for when that drops, and you'll get to see me and a bunch of my fellow artists showing off what we've got to people for the sake of this adorable lucky student and his gorgeous detective wife.
//Speaking of which:
2 - PHANTOM THIEVES OF HOPE: CHRISTMAS CAPER
//Yeah, Phantom Thieves of Hope is getting a Christmas Special.
//Why?
//I felt like it. Fuck off and let me do my thing, lol.
//In all seriousness, my thought process behind this was that for a long time, I had considered maybe making spinoff chapters/fics for Phantom Thieves of Hope. But unlike Survivor where I usually have an excuse to do that, PToH's story is mostly consistently paced, and I don't really want to break that normally.
//But I've been thinking about what ideas I could explore in a potential crossover fic like PToH, and the kinds of interactions the characters could have.
//Phantom Thieves of Hope has always tried to prioritize the human aspects of the Danganronpa characters beyond the wacky cartoonish setting that they're placed in. Despite the horrors around them, many of them rarely get a chance to show a real down-to-earth moment as a person instead of a crazy character, and that's a lot of what PToH is about, beyond the kickass Phantom Thief fighting.
//So to sum it up, Christmas Caper is a three-part bonus story for my crossover fic, revolving around the Phantom Thieves having some Christmas fun together, and I will be posting those during the buildup to Christmas; so from December 21st to December 23rd, the same day Naegiri Week starts.
//I know that PToH and Survivor are different series, but I have realized I have an overlapping audience with both fanbases, so I figured if I'm going to announce it, I'm going to announce it here.
//I will also be announcing it this Friday for my AO3 audience when I release the next chapter.
//Now we actually get into the juicy stuff.
3 - DANGAN-CEMBER
//This is something that I'm hoping to do for the foreseeable future, and it's probably the biggest announcement that I have for this holiday season.
//To keep things brief, this is directly inspired by Team Four Star's DBCember series. For those who don't know what that is, from 2014 until 2021, KaiserNeko, Lanipator, and Takahata101 performed a yearly series called DBcember each December. In this segment, they discuss the DragonBall series in Advent Calendar mode for the first twenty-four days of December.
//With me loving my rankings, I wanted to try doing something similar this year related to the blog, to give me more of a reason to. And honestly, I have some ideas that aren't even related to Danganronpa, just to me in general.
//Earlier this year, I posted my ranking of all the Danganronpa titles featured on the blog, which would have had enough to go on, but I only came up with the idea after that, which kind of wasted it.
//So for this event, Dangan-cember will take place between the 1st of December to the 24th where I will upload one post every day as part of a top 24 ranking of some kind, going in depth on its placement, why I like/dislike it, or whatever the hell else the list entails. Christmas Day will reveal my Number 1.
//I debated it for a while, and eventually, I decided that for this year, my ranking would be...
TOP 24 DANGANRONPA CLASS TRIALS.
//Back in the day while I was still on Reddit, I did this ranking then, but my not only have my opinions changed a bit, but for this ranking, I will be including the Class trials from the Another series as well (DRA1 and SDRA2).
//And while I have already done the ranking itself in advance, this turned out to not be as easy as it feels, and I feel like talking about it might be harder.
//Unlike the rest of my rankings, I will be dedicating one post each to all of these placements, which should hopefully give me a chance to talk about them in as much detail as possible. I don't intend to do this for all my rankings; just my end of year ones like this.
//So hopefully that'll be exciting. Funny how I'm more than happy to write written essays about Danganronpa unlike anything else I need to write essays for.
//But with that all said, we have one more:
4 - DECK THE HALLS FOR A BIRTHDAY PARTY ARC
//And of course, the last thing to announce for the end of the year is our traditional "Christmas Arc."
//If you've been around the blog for a while now, you'll know that once a year, for the 12 Days of Christmas ranging from December 24th to January 5th, we have special bonus arcs for the story, mainly revolving around the characters interacting and having moments of emotional bonding and depth, centered around the end of the year and Christmas time.
//Or, alternatively, just some community events we do for fun.
//The arcs in question for these last few years have been:
The 12 Days of Christmas
The 12 Nights of Christmas
Canzanilla Cafe
Warriors of Other Worlds (Danganronpa Survivor X Death Battle)
//And yes, before anyone says it, I know that that WoOW didn't actually happen during Christmas, but that was largely because of delays on my part, and had I stuck to a consistent schedule, it would have done. The point is we do these fun little event arcs every year, if we can help it.
//And for this year, we actually have something a little different. The arc will retain its typical character interactions and enjoyment that the previous Christmas arcs had, but unlike them, this arc, titled "Deck the Halls for a Birthday Party," will have a consistent storyline throughout it.
//Canzanilla Cafe kind of had a story with Kuripa helping Maya set up shop, but it was still very much them interacting with a random strew of characters and being good baristas and bartenders. But for this one, there's a certain group of characters it revolves around, and a plot that takes shape throughout the sequence.
//What is that plot? Well, I'm glad you asked. Let me tell you.
//This arc is the first Christmas that the Future Foundation have been able to gather for following the Factory incident, and the defeat of Organization Zetsubou. But more importantly for Class 78, this is the perfect chance to celebrate the triumphant return of Mukuro Ikusaba, who they thought was lost to them.
//Reinforced when they remember that December 24th, Christmas Day, is also her birthday.
//To reaffirm their friendship, show appreciation for what she has done for them, and to officially welcome her back to the family, the class, led primarily by Makoto and Sayaka, work with their peers and classmates to throw Mukuro a huge Birthday/Christmas surprise party, while doing whatever they can to prevent Mukuro from catching wind of it.
//Hilarity ensues.
//In summary, it is just one of those everything-has-to-be-perfect party stories where the DR1 class get to show off their bond and how much they all mean to each other. Something that, ironically, they don't do as much as the DR2 and V3 cast do. Not just in Survivor, but in the main series and in general. They have strong chemistry, but it's never really explored.
//This arc is also mainly about Mukuro, now having completed her character arcs from Phase 1 and 2, where she now realizes that she has a place in the world free from Junko's influence, and a lot of this story is about her exploring it and trying to find her place within it.
//Featuring a lot of fun little cameo appearances to boot.
//That should be about everything, so in conclusion, here is my December timeline:
December 1st - December 24th: Dangancember December 21st - December 23rd: PToH: Christmas Caper December 23rd - December 30th: Naegiri Week 2024 December 24th - January 5th: Deck the Halls for a Birthday Party Arc
//And that's all folks.

Opinion on Unforgiven (survivor Hiyoko mod for DR2) ?

First off, given what happened with Mod Freeze, I don’t blame you for worrying about the Hiyokers coming after you. But it also made me realise that a lot of ask blogs, including ours, really like to subject Hiyoko to horrible fates. Never out of hatred, but it’s an interesting coincidence that she either dies, gets suicidal depression, or otherwise.
Secondly, one of the most difficult parts about these blogs I find is filtering out what counts as character hate, and what is said for the sake of the story. I know I normally don’t talk about my blog when I send asks here, but with Survivor specifically, I remember a few years back when there was one particular anon who really hated Kaede, called her out on every minor thing and verbally abused her regardless of whether what she did was good or bad, and then started rounding on me for pairing her with Shuichi. Which sucked ass.
But it’s different when that stuff is directed towards a character like Tsumugi or Kuripa for instance. Tsumugi gets hate asks ALL the time, but of COURSE she does; she’s a VILLAIN. And as for Kuripa, it’s always a What The Hell Hero situation with him. So even if some asks can be harsh, they are warranted.
So it’s hard to maintain your standards when it comes to these things. I don’t know if this is specifically an issue that I struggle with, but it’s important to filter out the generally abusive askers so they don’t bother you later down the line and you can deal with them swiftly.
//Yeah, you really need to curate what asks you get because that can lead to you helping to foster a particular type of audience. You let people do wild things, they'll be more inclined to do so because that's now accepted.
//Red from OSP put this well when she said that, by showcasing insecurity in your work and choosing to undercut the emotional beats in your story with humor because you worry people will mock you, you actually alienate people who were actually invested and draw in those who are comfortable mocking you. You've made it clear that you are unwilling to take what you're making seriously and thus the audience is told they shouldn't take it seriously either.
//Conversely, you have this problem with extreme investment among some fans who will relate very strongly to a character or a work who will be very sensitive to criticism. This has very little, relatively-speaking, to do with what you have to say and is instead a knee-jerk reaction because they interpret criticism of a thing they like as a criticism of themselves as well.
//This is patently ridiculous because meaningful criticism doesn't come from a place of hate but a genuine desire to see something improve, and by reacting negatively to any perceived criticism, you only prove harsh criticism justified. Some go so far as to interpret it all as a concentrated hate campaign by those jealous of how great this character, work or person actually is.
//These people are absolutely delusional and so toxic that it's really not worth engaging with them.
//I personally made the mistake of not curating asks early on, and it created a pretty toxic environment at times. Like, people have given me credit for having so many chill anons, but that's because I block all the really nasty ones ^^;
//There was a time actual fascists were trying to sneak number messages and slogans into their asks, and I had to learn to notice those. It became very obvious when I deleted one, an anon asked where it went, I explained that I understood what it meant, and then they went off on a paranoid racist tirade.
//Fascists are really the biggest, most fragile special snowflakes out there, and they won't even pretend to be chill when you prod them : P
//The bottom line is that, as a blog-runner, you have to be conscientious of the environment you want to create for yourself and your followers, and I wanted one where people could feel safe to express their opinions without fear of retaliation, and where hate and character-bashing are unwelcome. And sometimes it really is better to just ignore asks from truly toxic people and pretend they don't exist, otherwise they'll try and get you to recognize them.

Jesus Christ, is there something in the water lately? First you get people screeching at you over Hiyoko, and now this anon's being rude and insulting about the Danganronpa V3 survivors. It's like there's something about this fandom that seems to drive people crazy. If it makes you feel better, mod, this anon is still firmly 100% on your side.
The Hiyoko ones were relatively understandable because of the way I was writing her. Where this topic of the V3 survivors even come from?! Because I said I didn’t like how Shuichi was the protagonist instead of Kaede? Because I like Shuichi! What is going on and why is it happening to me???

Maker of the survivor Hiyoko mod for the DR2 there! I wanna to say that in my mod I had... somewhat tried to alleviate the problem of "anyone could have became the killer in Mikan's place, and it wouldn't have impacted the plot afterwards" with... seeing Mikan becoming a monster really fucking Hiyoko up (along with a handful of other things), and fucking her up not necessarily into the pure "redemption" side.
I don't know if Hiyoko surviving 2-3 would really affect her mindset or behavior all that much. If anything, living to see what Mikan became would probably be taken as vindication of her past bullying. I could more easily see her triumphantly gloating that everyone can see the "nasty pigshit" for what she is, than see her challenging any of her beliefs over it.
I also don't know if I'd be comfortable seeing Hiyoko live to dance on Mikan's grave - whether it gave her character development or not. I brought up Byakuya and Toko as a point of comparison earlier; For the same reason, I'd be pretty upset if Toko died at some point and Byakuya got to spend a bunch of time gloating about how trash she was and how glad he is that she's dead. OR, for that matter, if Byakuya was killed and Toko got to live. Their whole dynamic is fucky.
In horror, with exceptions made for the monster itself, abusers should rarely outlive their victims. There's a reason DR1 killed off Celeste right alongside Hifumi. Without the catharsis of the abuser's death, the tragedy of the victim's death is left unsatisfying. It just comes off like the bully won.

This anon is making a survivor Hiyoko mod for DR2 (because it makes me very happy, okay?). Is there any pitfall in writing her you would have advised me to avoid?
oh man i know im an asshole sometimes but truly dont let me make you feel bad for wanting other survivors 😭😭😭 i like tragedy! its my favorite genre. something about the inevitability of death and how characters dont get complete arcs is really satisfying to me
its why i dont think chihiro should've survived! she was going to get a good arc about getting stronger and learning to accept herself but she never gets that, her story ends bludgeoned by mondo.
with hiyoko i see it similarly to chihiro. had she survived? yeah she probably would've had a really nice and satisfying story with fuyuhiko and learning to love and forgive, but that's the tragedy of hiyoko! she doesn't get that. she dies before its able to happen. its cathartic, its tragic.
now to ur original question, i would say to understand that dr is a tragedy. if ur gonna save hiyoko, whose gonna die instead of her? how are you going to make it make it narrative sense? what is the purpose of hiyoko surviving? what does her living do to the story, and how does it change the stories of those around her that were affected by her death in canon? (mainly thinking fuyuhiko here)

First, Austa, please take a look at my favorite working scene in Hiyoko survivor mod so far:
https://youtu.be/v3Vc0lbGBZ4
(pls ignore graphic glitches and formatting errors. It has passable writing and doesn't crash the game, the rest can be fixed later!)
What do you think? Was it more funny or "Oh my God... Poor Hiyoko" (© Hajime) to you?
Holy crap! My hats off to you, I heard all of that in Hiyoko’s voice completely. That was so good!!!
Hiyoko, don’t attack and body shame…Hiyoko! XD
My favorite part is her calling Monokuma “toy maker’s error”. She knows she can do a better insult, but she’s so shocked!
You’re doing the lords work for Hiyoko fans everywhere! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everyone, look at this! It’s amazing! You truly know how to write that Hiyoko dialogue, anon!!!

As a proud Hiyoko fan, I wanna say that trying to talk about us as a single homogenous group, as previous anon did, is just stupid. We are all very different people. Even in relation to our waifu Hiyoko... Among us there are people who ship her with Souda or Hajime and people who see her as strictly lesbian and think that shipping her with men is gross; people who think that she is a misunderstood victim (while Mikan is a manipulative predator who deliberately provokes emotionally vulnerable people into "bullying" her so everyone would feel sorry for her, Mikan; so it's Mikan who is a real abuser and Hiyoko who is a real victim) and people who do love and embrace her as a bully and a bitch; people who think of her as a wasted potential and are enthusiastic for the Unforgiven (survivor Hiyoko mod) and people who think that her death actually fits her character and the general mood of Danganronpa; people who think of her as a very serious and tragic character and wallow in dozens of angsty fanworks about her cruel controlling family and Mahiru's death and people who are in the Hiyoko fandom only for the "banana hair", "you nasty pigbarf!", "is he getting gayer with every day?", "I can never hope to understand gamers" and other funny memes. We are all very different, and trying to swipe us all in one basket is... bad. So please, don't take the previous anon seriously.
NOTE: This is in response to this previous Ask.
First off, thank you for being brave enough to reach out to someone who you know really hates your fav, lol. And being so kind about it in the process. I hope my own reaction to her, and even my uh... forthcoming (in this very response) extremely negative reaction to one specific perspective you described (we'll come back to that)... I just hope those kinds of things don't prevent you from reading/contributing in the future. I appreciate the chance to be exposed to this whole other world. At the same time, you have every right to blacklist and block my "anti-hiyoko saionji" tag. Can't remotely blame you if you do so for your own mental health.
With that out of the way, let me dig in.
I definitely appreciate that there's a wide variety of takes on the character within the fans that dig her. I would really expect that to be the case; it's why I was so skeptical in the first part of my response to that previous Ask that you're reacting/responding to. And like I said in that response, we really shouldn't all be one hive mind, even among those who agree with us. Our variances and differences in thinking are fundamental aspects of being human.
Also, I think the line is "Is it me, or is he getting gayer with age?" if I'm not mistaken... which I might be. But I freely admit that either way, it's a wonderful goddamn line. A highlight from the DR3 dub. And I believe it's exclusively in said dub, too. As someone who sees official localizations as being just as valid versions of canon as the original language publications, I appreciate small touches of character that might be sprinkled into a new translation when they're done well. This is one such time. It might be my single favorite Hiyoko moment in any version of any DR release!
Though on the flip side, I have no idea what's so delightful about repeatedly calling someone "nasty pig barf." :P
SO. With all that said, I'm sorry, but there's ONE take on the character that anon just described which I just... oh my god. YEAH. Wut. We gotta talk about it.
I just... was absolutely BOWLED OVER in shock and horror by this perspective. Legit, you knocked me on my ass by exposing me to this angle:
Among us there are people [...] who think that [Hiyoko] is a misunderstood victim (while Mikan is a manipulative predator who deliberately provokes emotionally vulnerable people into "bullying" her so everyone would feel sorry for her, Mikan; so it's Mikan who is a real abuser and Hiyoko who is a real victim)
Deadass serious question here:
What the FUCK? That is... that's... what is it?... it's just..... what in the everloving FUCK is this?!?!
That is, in all seriousness, some "she was dressed slutty so she was asking for it"-level logic right there. That's legitimately what it reads as to me. Like, thinking that Mikan "deliberately provokes emotionally vulnerable people into bullying her"??? Okay, so she does this by, uh... 1) Crying a lot and apologizing profusely any time she thinks she's maybe offended someone? 2) Referencing that she's been sexually abused or treated as subhuman in the past? 3) Being covered in bandages due to unknown causes that range from "excessive clumsiness" to "self-harm" to "physical beatings"?
Nah. IMO there's no planet in the multiverse where it'd be cool to interpret any of that as "predatory" behavior. Not if you want to be viewed as a serious person and not some kind of predator-apologist clown, anyway. Nor is there any world where I believe someone can be "manipulated" into bullying someone via this sort of Mikan-esque behavior... unless, of course, that person is already inclined towards being an abuser. I mean, if it's that easy to get "manipulated" into being so vicious and cruel? Then you were just looking for an excuse.
On the flip side, if you wanted to "manipulate" ME into bullying someone? You'd have to thoroughly convince me that the target victim is a white supremacist or some shit like that. No amount of crying or injuries or references to past trauma will ever get you anything other than sympathy and empathy from me. I don't have a secret switch that flips me into an abuser once someone acts like they're 'too much' of a victim, or.... whatever the hell this is trying to imply.
In summation: No no no. That's a "fuck NO" for me. Ultimate bad take.
Though I'm gonna go ahead and assume this description can't be one that Anon subscribes to themselves. Because I absolutely CAN'T with that POV.

A literal developer of the survivor Hiyoko mod for DR2 here. You have my blessing for not having Hiyoko in your universe. People who don't love her are bad at writing her anyways, from my experience, so that would be for everyone's good, even.
Thanks. Looking back, I think it was a great decision not to have Hiyoko in this blog, not only because of the fucked up state of this world but also because she would not do much, even if she was there. So in many ways, this is a blessing.

That implication that Hiyoko in the survivor mod is going to call out for dead Mahiru to "help her" each time she can't control herself under a serious stress... is just... T_T Imagine it happening during the class trial... Souda is confused, Hajime feels a mix of distress and pity at this sight, and Fuyuhiko... same as Hajime, but also with some guilt added in... It's just...
I want you to draw a little art of this.
Ah it really is heartbreaking to see HIyoko cope with Mahiru's passing isn't it? I'll be honest it was almost a little hard for me to see her break down like that. Hiyoko's been through so much but at least the silver lining is that she gets the chance to work through it and see everyone until the end this time!
I apologize for taking a while to respond. I was trying to work up the courage to draw your request but I think I may have to let this one go for the time being. Drawing someone young crying out for their love one is something that hits a little too close to home at the moment given a relative of mine's passing earlier last month. I didn't really think it affected me all the much until I sat down and attempted to sketch something then just...froze. Ah I guess it sorta happens when you least expect it. But I do so love this mod! Getting to see HIyoko grow and continue to be sassy is always such a treat ^-^ thank you so much for showing it to me!!

Rpg Anon: Feel like Kaz and Hiro should be moved down a bit cuz they scare easily. I know you put the survivors up there in rankings but meh. Also why Hiyoko and Izuru down there so pitifully?
//Kazuichi and Yasuhiro are up there because they survived their Killing Games and in the end chose to stand up to Despair. Hiro even survived two of them, technically.
//Yeah, they're cowards, but to give them both credit, think about how much mental stress they endure and how easy it would be to just snap and go crazy for guys like them at any given point, and they just...don't.
//You've also got to consider that in Survivor, they both got locked up for several months and treated like shit in Zetsubou base; Kaz even being down an arm, and yet they still made it out mentally in one piece.
//Hiyoko is down there because I feel like she's a different kind of coward. One who kind of acts like she's on top but fumbles when she topples, like she does in DR3, but honestly, I do think I'll move her up a tier because I gave it some more thought and remembered that in DR3 Chapter 3, she did try her best to change and take control of the situation, to a certain degree of success. And she was able to power through and even accept Fuyuhiko somewhat despite what happened with Mahiru.
//So yeah, I guess I didn't give Hiyoko enough credit.
//The reason why Izuru is bottom tier is because him falling to Despair is the EXACT REASON WHY THE DR STORYLINE EVEN HAPPENED! Junko made him fall into Despair and work alongside her, and legit all she had to do was show him a few people dying.
//Izuru in Survivor is obviously different, but the whole premise of how he fell into Despair is the fact that the allure of how unexpected people can act when they are in Despair is one of the few things that excites him, since neither he, nor Junko can predict it. So realistically, the reason he has such low resistance to Despair is because he LETS HIMSELF fall to it ON PURPOSE just so he can see what happens.
