Out of all of the people The Ghost King Phantom expected to relate to, it definitely wasn’t the scrawny red headed photographer of the Daily Planet. Jimmy Olsen has gotten so many temporary superpowers over his time being Superman’s friend. Hell, he once gained a 4th dimensional being’s reality warping abilities when he was given said dimensional being’s powers during a fight. Sure there’s a dozen or so heroes with the same amount of powers he has, but none as suddenly granted to them as a all powerful god that can relate to a teenager.

The Erik Revelation ™

It's a stroke of genius, having us find out about Erik's homophobic, bullying activities at Hillerska at the same time as Wille does. The collective vision of Supportive Erik has been ground to dust for the fandom alongside it happening for Wille. It's a small taste of what it feels like for him.

The entirety of s3 e5 is Wille working through the shock of Erik being part of the fakeness of everything. His last shining beacon of truth, the one good thing about his family, the only reason to keep being part of it.

as an aroace person, i cannot tell you how immeasurably wonderful it feels to see canon ace alastor in the show. yes, i know it’s a one-off sentence of dialogue, but that’s so much more than other ace characters get. after waiting so many years and not wanting to get my hopes up because i’ve been let down before, i love this feeling of just like, yeah. we made it.

it’s not a lot right now but it doesn’t need to be. it’s there. in dialogue, on the screen. there’s so many places it could go in later seasons, and for now i’m just happy. i’m happy that this character i love so much is just like me. idk. representation matters

A cool story from the World Enders website ...

A Lord Huron fan who posts on the site under the name Anne-Sophie was at LH's recent show in Paris. Noodling around on Twitter the next day, she found a photo of the concert posted on Rock UR Life, a music "webzine" based in France.

There she was, unmistakably, in the front row.

She wrote: "You can see me in that photo, with my sign ... having my best life."

I enlarged the photo as well as I could. I think the sign says: "U SAVED MY LIFE." There must be a story there.

(Note to readers: Obviously I've been dealng with hackers lately. I try to delete the fake posts as quickly as I can, but they show up faster than I can take them down. Contrary to what the hack says, I have no "personal fan page," etc., etc. ... I'm sure most of you can spot the fakes.)

i love alien (1979). i love a science fiction movie that's actually interested in science. there are small things, like, the planet not having earth's atmosphere. and most obviously, the alien having a lifecycle that's not just a repaint of the human lifecycle is a so refreshing. most media not only makes aliens and other worldly creatures have our specific biologic lifecycle, they'll also have our culture's very specific gender stereotypes (looking at you DCAU).

it doesn't immediately break it for me, but it's hard making the same suspension of disbelieve again and again and again, no matter how realistic a sci-fi movie tries to be, especially when the alternative and options are endless and potentially much more interesting.

and i feel like that's the thing with a lot of bad media striving for "realism". it takes the story elements and troupes and assumptions that it feels is unrealistic, but doesn't actually replace it with reality, just it's own equally wrong, just not as common, assumptions, troupes, etc. alien is actually interested in how science can be applied to fiction to tell a story that feels otherworldly but still grounded.

also, we love a quarantine queen!
