"I'm competing for your attention again, aren't I?" w Art Donaldson 🙏
From the Domestic Bickering Prompt List
Sure thing!
Warnings: Established relationship, twice-divorced Art Donaldson, fluff, smooches
You've caught sight of him out of the corner of your eye two, maybe three times—but you've been so damn busy answering the usual questions that you've hardly had a chance to catch up with him. You're certain that he's been getting a healthy handful of them, too, along with a heap of sarcasm—
Will you have the ceremony on the court?
Will the bridal party be in tennis whites?
Third time's the charm, eh, Donaldson?
While you hadn't had any idea who Art was when you'd first met him, he'd been forthright with you about being twice divorced. He'd told you that his first wife had cheated on him, and his second wife had been a rebound.
"I wanna get married again," He'd admitted, "But I want this one to stick."
Now, you pass a nervous smile toward where Tashi Duncan and Patrick Zweig are in the corner of the party. They've been keeping to themselves for the most part, seeming to trade smiles and barbs between one another, and exchanged bland pleasantries with Art's family.
Art having such a close relationship with his ex-wife had unsettled you at first, but they had a child together. His bond with Patrick was just as obvious but admittedly a little more nebulous to you. But, they were important to Art, so you adjusted.
Patrick catches and holds your eye, raising his beer in a mock-toast and shooting you a wink. Tashi meets your gaze you next, her brow arched slightly as she gives you a nod. It's just enough and nearly too much all at once.
You're drawn into Art's mother's arm a moment later, giving you a squeeze as she coos over your engagement ring.
"You have to meet Alan and Edith—they're Art's godparents."
"Oh, I'd love to!"
--
"There you are."
You look up, doing a double-take at the sight of Art leaning in the doorway.
"Hey! Where did you put that bottle of wine that your mother brought?" You ask, scanning the crowded counter tops in Art's kitchen—well, it'll be your kitchen, too, once you're fully moved in.
"Can't that wait?"
"It must be in here somewhere."
"Honey."
"Can you check the dining room? Or—maybe we left it in the front hall?"
You hear Art sigh and expect to hear him leave, but when he doesn't budge, you turn your head to get a good look at him. His head is hanging, his thumb sliding over his left ring finger.
"...Art?"
"I'm competing for your attention again, aren't I?"
You purse your lips, rounding the counter toward him. When the two of you had begun dating, he hadn't been the only name on your dance card. When he'd told you that he wanted to be exclusive all of that had stopped, of course—but he'd made his dislike of sharing your attention very clear.
"You know it isn't the same," You remind him. "I'm not texting a Tinder fuckboy. I'm trying to find the gift that your mother very kindly brought us to make sure I stay on her good side."
"You don't need to worry about that. She loves you."
"I worry about it all the same."
"C'mere." Art reaches out, taking hold of your left hand and drawing you in. You smile as he raises it to his lips, pressing a kiss to the ring, and then to your knuckles. "You're right. I'm sorry. I'm just not used to having to chase you down for a kiss."
"Is that what that pout's about?" You lean in, pressing a tender kiss to his lips and grinning as he raises a hand to curl around your jaw.
"I wanna leave," Art murmurs.
"What?" You frown, drawing back to get a better look at him. "Why?"
"I'm sick of the party. I'm sick of this already," He thumbs your ring. "I wanna marry you tonight. Right now."
"Art!" You laugh, "Don't be ridiculous."
"I'm not kidding."
"You have to be. We haven't filed for a license yet—and we still have to arrange everything."
"We'll go to Vegas. If we leave right now, get tickets at the airport, we'll get there before the marriage license bureau closes. We can file online, on the way to the airport."
"...Art," You shake your head. "You're—Seriously?"
"Seriously." His eyes search yours. "I don't want to have to wait to call you my wife."
"We can't just leave everyone here."
"They're adults, they can see themselves out."
"It would be rude."
Art sighs, looking toward the busy patio. "Alright. We'll give everyone a very polite brush-off. And then can we fly to Vegas?"
"Won't your family be disappointed?"
"I don't care about that." He pauses, a wave of concern passing across his face. "Will you be disappointed?"
"What do you mean?"
"...I've done this a couple'a times. I can do without the big white wedding. But," His brows raise as he tips his head toward you, "If you want it, we'll have it."
You consider for a few moments, glancing toward the patio.
Tonight has been such a whirlwind. You've hardly had any time to catch a breath. The politics of wedding planning can be so nerve-wracking, and you'll have those little comments, those teases of third time's the charm hanging over your head. You'll have to invite Tashi and Patrick to the wedding, and where to seat them? With Art's other friends from the Academy? Will themed drinks be expected? Some hair-brained concoction called The Grand Slam, accompanied by a toothpick with a little tennis ball on the end?
There's press coverage to be had, too. Art may not be playing right now, but that doesn't mean he isn't news. You're not ready for those cameras, the questions, the months of speculation about your dress, about Tashi's attendance—
You look up at Art, resting your hand on his chest.
"I'm going to find the bottle of wine that your mom brought. We're going to finish this party like we planned...And pack when everyone leaves. We'll go to Vegas tomorrow."
The grin that breaks across Art's face is so bright and beautiful that you have no doubt you made the right decision. The crushing force of his kiss nearly bowls you into the opposite side of the door frame.
"I love you," He murmurs.
"I know, baby. I love you, too."

Seeing the Maddie gif just reminded of all the wasted potential and storylines they could have had with Tommy and the bucktommy relationship. Because let's face it, for all of the mains it's the same storyline over and over again - we're not learning anything new about them. But then here we have a character who we sort of already know, who they've teased us with a bit of his history and it was like finally! A chance for something new! We could have learned more about his family, maybe see how Buck reacts meeting his father and then having to deal with his homophobic reaction to him, the man he loves and their relationship. He clearly sounded like he didn't have a lot of close friends/family/support outside of Buck - we could have explored that, have Buck be there for his man and show him how, you have me and the 118. We never got to see the whole "dating a fellow first responder and the challenges that come with that" - we've seen Buck in the hospital so many times, it would have been interesting to see Tommy in that hospital bed and Buck having to deal with the one being by the bedside for once, worrying about someone he loves, maybe making him fully appreciate everything his family had gone through in the past when HE was the one injured (like all the effort Maddie went into to look after him). We could have had Tommy and Eddie bonding over war stories - was Tommy discharged due to DADT? If so, we could have had conversations with Karen, who also was affected by that. Hell, if they were gonna do the stupid "he was engaged to Abby for two years" story, have Chim and Hen be like, dude, you were working with us all that time, how did we not KNOW (that story still makes no sense - he never mentioned her name to them? Because if he did, surely it would have clicked when they met her in S1 "oh, you're Tommy's Abby". But Tim acknowledged he retconned their relationship from an ex-boyfriend to ex-fiances so he clearly doesn't care.)
But most of all, despite being together for SIX MONTHS, we never saw Tommy and Maddie interact. Maddie was clearly excited for Buck ("tell me about the hot pilot"), she's married to Tommy's old friend, there was the perfect opportunity to see them start to bond over family dinner or something. We've never seen Maddie really click with any of Buck's LI's before, so it would have been nice to see Buck's whole world start to come together. And it could have led to family orientated stories for Buck for once - we always assume he wants kids because he says he loves kids and we see that with Chris, Jee etc. There could have been discussions for the first time about Buck's future - does he see himself getting married, having kids (and ugh, so annoyed that the first time Buck mentions the possibility of getting married is 30 seconds before his heart is crushed).
And that's not even going into the small things I wanted to see on-screen. I knew we were never gonna get anything too intimate - 911 is a bit prudish, they don't really do sex scenes, especially not since the first season, and hell, all their other main couples barely kiss as it is. But things like holding hands as they're walking down the street, talking about their day while making dinner together, waking up in bed together - small little domestic things that show how their relationship is developing. SHOW it developing. (Because while the snippets they showed of their relationship showed that they were growing more comfortable as a couple, a lot of that development happened off screen.)
This was the first time in a long time, maybe ever, that we saw Buck truly happy (that man was GLOWING, even covered in boils). For the first time, we could have seen his story GROW, instead of doing the same lather, rinse, repeat that has happened in all his relationships (Buck falls for someone, goes too hard too fast, they abandon him, he doesn't bother fighting for the relationship). We could have finally had a sprinkling of new storylines (Tommy wasn't a main, we obviously weren't going to get a hell of a lot, but if Karen can have her own stories/backstories, so could he). All that down the drain for what, Buck 1.0 again? Him jumping back on that hamster wheel of "find new love interest, it goes nowhere, he's single again". It's boring, and this show is on its 8th season - not only has this been played out for too long, who knows how much longer the show is gonna last. If it only goes until say season 10, that would have been two and a half seasons worth of seeing Buck be able to grow, get the love he always wanted (hell, maybe even get engaged, finish the series with a wedding implying he gets his happily ever after). Buck is only one member of an ensemble cast - they can't focus on him every episode, so two years is plenty of time to draw out only a handful of fresh stories. After 8 season, keeping him perpetually single for this long only works if he's always been played as like Joey off Friends - someone who is happy playing the dating game, not looking to go anywhere. Except Buck has been shown to be looking for love all this time - he doesn't want that single life (he doesnt want to "explore" Tim - screwing random men and women isnt going to help him find that love he's always wanted, especially when he already had it). But instead, they take it away from him AGAIN, and now they're back to square one. Sigh.
There’s so much i agree with here! They’ve tried to cram soooo many storylines into each episode that there’s no room to breathe. Everything feels stunted and half-assed. Tim said they didn’t want to ignore everything that happened at the end of 7, wanted to pick it back up, but they spent these first few episodes either destroying the storylines they built on, or ending them so abruptly it doesn’t feel satisfying. Nothing feels connected anymore. In early seasons you’d have them all working together on certain major storylines, but I’d doesn’t really feel like that happens now outside of calls. And the calls are so quick (besides the damn plane) that you don’t really connect with that either.
It would have been nice to see tommy and buck develop more, nice to see him involved with the group instead of just Eddie, nice to see them keep their word and try to make this love interest different from the rest. They did none of that.

Japanese QL Corner
People continue to misbehave with the shows being generously provided via fan sub, which means we might have to jump through more hoops or be forced to wait awhile to finish them soon. The good news is that one of them has been picked up for international distribution by Netflix, so we will eventually see it all one way or another! For this week, we still got our two fan subbed shows, with the last one airing weekly on Gaga.
Smells Like Green Spirit
This week we explored comphet, as all of our gay characters lived or relived failed experiences attempting to be attracted to women. Perhaps not the specific gay experience you had on your bingo card for this show, but certainly one many queer people go through. I appreciated that despite featuring an episode about gay boys puking when confronted with sex with girls, the story didn't villainize the girls at all. Fuji is a terrifyingly competent and confident queen and she bounced back from Mishima's rejection with no problem (and with a sapphic twist??). Instead this served as both another way for Mishima and Kirino to bond, and to show Yanagida still dealing with the same thing at an older age. I'm not entirely sure yet what the show is trying to say by putting Yanagida and Mishima on parallel tracks this episode, but I am paying attention. Meanwhile, Yumeno continues to hover around being both viciously homophobic and overly interested in Mishima at the same time. I don't love this romance set up, but it's definitely coming so I am bracing for it.
Love is Like a Poison
I LOVE THIS SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. It continues to be both smart and funny as hell, and the character and relationship dynamics are cooking with gas. Here at the halfway point, both men have realized they've fallen in love with someone they shouldn't have, and seem stumped as hell about what to do with that. I love love love that Shiba fell for a scammer even knowing he's a scammer, and Haruto fell for his mark when he had no intention of taking this man seriously. I just want them to figure out how to make this work so they can live happily ever after investigating fraud, doing domestic chores, talking to their succulents and having lots of hot sex.
Chaser Game W 2
This week Fuyu's terrible mother was dispatched with surprising swiftness when Fuyu kinda out of nowhere developed a backbone. Okay, I guess! But before that, Yeoreum got to shoot her shot with Itsuki, who inexplicably turned her down after one drunken night. There truly is no accounting for taste. It seems that Yeoreum is not yet admitting defeat, so we'll get to see her again next week, yay!

Broadchurch ramble 3
So, I've been thinking, the friendship(or maybe more?) between Daisy and Chloe is soooooo cuteeeeee!! But sadly, we didn't get enough in the show...
And tbh I also believe Alec, Ellie and Beth are sharing some bonds as well (not just the single parent thing ofc).
Look at them in S3, especially between Beth and Alec, they were clearly not strangers to each other like they used to be in S1. Maybe not that close yet, like Ellie with Beth or Ellie with Alec, but there's a good chance they will become great friends and even family. Not only because their daughters' relationship, but also their own similarities. They had both experienced painful losses and long periods of darkness and pain. But all of these horrors made them stronger, they're always fighters and they never give in. Surely the better they get to know each other, the more they will respect each other, they just need some time.
In my Broadchurch headcanon, Hardys, Millers and Latimers will become a family. Family of choice. They understand each other, respect each other and ofc, love each other. Also have some domestic routines, like Alec babysits boys when others go out for a girls night, Daisy asks Ellie and Beth for help with some girl stuff like shopping advice, Tom asks Alec to teach him how to shave...They won't hesitate to help each other, or even, defend for/protect others when needed.
They've been through so much shit, all of them. So yeah, let's give them sooo much love they really deserve, but didn't get in the show.
We need domestic fluff and comfort.

Hi! I haven't been able to emotionally prepare to watch the Yellowjackets s2 finale, but even without having seen it I'm having so many thoughts.
I struggle to articulate how I feel about Natalie dying. I can feel in my heart though a way I've felt before when I start to fall out of love with a story. When I have this idea of what this story is about but then it turns out it wasn't what I thought it was.
I'm not sure whether I personally can say with any kind of confidence the decision to kill Natalie is a bad writing choice because I think what's a bad choice depends on what you think the story is about.
I think where they've lost me is that I thought this was an ensemble character study of these surviving women and the question of whether they can every integrate back into society now that their wildness has been set free. They're maenads forced to come back to their domestic lives.
I may have had a more I guess feminist view on this show than maybe it ever intended to go there. I thought this was a show about these fierce, complicated women who were able to escape the social confines in the wilderness and while now they are physically safe, feel alienated and numb. And the challenge isn't so much a survival question as it is on where they fit into the world now. In the wilderness, they probably would've eaten each other until there was nothing left. In society, they feel purposeless, alienated and disconnected. So the challenge for the adults is how to reconcile these two points. How to not devolve into mad self-destruction but also how to give their wildness room to run.
Want to know what my ideal ending was? I was hoping for a bittersweet conclusion where the women resign themselves to never being able to fit into society again and they return to the wilderness BUT this time instead of Lottie leading them, it's Natalie. That's what I thought the white moose meant, an omen that was only shown to Natalie but one that was ignored in the teen timeline as Lottie took power. And as a Mistynat person as well what would be interesting about this is that it would mean Misty was the first true believer in Natalie as queen. Someone called Misty the personification of the wilderness so that would explain why, despite Lottie being queen, it is Nat who has Misty's ultimate devotion. So in the adult timeline their fates would be unknown but at least in a way they're free now and they've chosen their trauma bond with each other over 'safer', 'healthier' options that don't feel as real and meaningful. (Also would love if Callie joined them because they bring more maenads with them)
I'm sharing this with you because I've appreciated your thoughts because they've helped me process some of my feelings over this story that I love so much, but now I'm not sure how to feel about. And also I wondered if my take on this show resonates with you because the biggest thing this is doing my head in is that I feel like I've read this story completely wrong?? And it breaks my heart to think that I did.
Anyway I love your writing and your thoughts and sorry it was so long but just wanted to say I appreciate you in this fandom <3
Thank you so much for this message, and I completely agree with 100% of what you've said here. It absolutely resonates with me, and you've identified what my biggest problem is: where season two ended up is not the show I felt I was watching in season one. I had the exact same read on it that you did, and while we could both be projecting/overestimating how feminist it truly was, I felt like the building blocks were so firmly there. I guess I was drawn to both the potential of what it could be, and the fact that it truly seemed like it was going in that direction.
I love your ideal ending for the show, and I think - even if it wasn't what we would have gotten - based on season one, it was a believable direction for the show to go. After season two, it's impossible. And I feel the same way, wondering how I could have read this show so wrong. I really don't think we did, based on the first season. But I guess if we did, it's at least the two of us in this together!
I'm so so glad that what I've written about the episode has helped you process. Screaming about it was one of the only things that helped me, and I'm still upset days later, to be honest.
I think it just hurts to have to mourn both a great character and a great show; both the show and Natalie sparked something in me that I hadn't had for a long time, and I just feel defeated about it. I know what you mean about the feeling of falling out of love with a story. That's so what this is, and that Karyn Kusama interview really put the nail in the coffin for me that this is not the show I thought we were getting. And that I have no interest in watching women suffer until they die, without offering any kind of depth beyond that. I wanted dark and complex, but I didn't want completely hopeless.
Thank you for this message, and I appreciate you being in this fandom, too! I'm so glad we can at least feel this way together ❤️
#reply#ask#mollrat101#if/when you watch the finale feel free to message me if you need to vent or discuss - i'm glad you can prepare a little going into it#but i'm sure it will still be rough#❤️#yellowjackets spoilers

It is Moriarthree week (?? I guess?) and because my inbox is so quiet lately, I have to think of ideas for my own content (how rude), and I think I can make today's prompt (????) into a meta idea.
Sibling Bonding! Let's go.
Let's go, in fact, all the way back to chapter two, when Albert takes time off work to help Louis and Albert move into their manor in Durham. Albert does not live there and I'm not sure he's ever actually even there after his little brothers are all moved in; most of the plot takes place in London, where he canonically lives, and it's mentioned he sees William (and accordingly, Louis) maybe once or twice a month (in The Final Problem). And yet, despite there not being any real plans to carry out their murder plot from Durham, or any actual intention yet of starting their plot in earnest, Albert comes and helps them move in because that's the brotherly thing to do!
I will say that later it's not totally clear when this chapter takes place. If he's just moving to Durham, it would make sense for Liam to be 17 and just having gotten his professorship. And it might make sense for Albert to help…literal children move in. But they don't actually look that young in any other respect, William actually appears in that chapter to have already had his job while living…elsewhere? (Sir, it is a multi-hour train ride from London to Durham; what is happening?). And it would require an extra time skip that's not indicated and it would fuck up the years.
So we're just going to have to assume they've actually known each other for 14 years already and the timeline is just a bit of mess yet again.
It's been 13 years since we last saw them, and things have changed. Albert has really been fully integrated into the sibling trio by then. So this chapter has to do a lot of work. Since their relationship is so critical to and such a huge emotional component of the story, it needs to be established very early. And I actually think the way it's done here is significantly more effective than massive exposition. It's just some small details, the careful interactions and inside jokes and the well-oiled reactions to each other's habits. There's not much heavy exposition. We find out more about their middling years together later, with Jack and even Milverton.
But in chapter two, we see this wealth of years between them in small details and not stories. We see Albert's overly detailed map, which William is just politely exasperated about and knew to expect. We hear Louis talk about Albert's fastidiousness as common knowledge among the brothers, a sign they've lived closely together for a long time, since Albert's bio family never seemed to pick up on it. We hear about Albert having made his excuses to the military to give his brothers a hand and see where they're going to be living. We see them comfortable, with sleeves rolled up, working together on domestic tasks before they work together on murderous tasks again. They work together even on something as simple as cleaning as an effective team.
But those little details, shown right up front, kind of establish the same thing as William liking the Fibonacci sequence and Shakespeare do. They actually show the lived in relationship instead of telling us what it is. They give us small details to find cute and which aren't overwhelming when actual plot is supposed to be happening. A lot of those details upfront grow into something else later.
And, apparently, Louis even hates grapefruit, but eats it for their plan. Cute.

I absolutely loved the Christmas fic! I loved the interactions with Y/N and the detectives, I can feel the love between them and it is all very wholesome and perfect for a fic like this. The interactions with Gregory were adorable! Although i did feel a bit worried about papa Freddy getting mad at Y/N for teaching Gregory how to pick locks, im sure he wont find out if Y/N teaches him how to hide the fact too hehe
I was wondering when we get to see Michael again, so i was very glad to see his reappearance! Also the domesticness of showing your lover (or well, lovers) to your family was very cute and i loved every second of it. It was also nice seeing Michael interact with Marionette because to me, it sorta ressembled how Michael also learned how to move past his trauma and be happy with the companionship of a close friend. A direct parallel to Y/N and their situation almost
And of course, I cant finish this comment without mentioning my man Eclipse. Damn, even beyond the grave he still manages to shake my heart in some way or another. The fact he has a tombstone feels very cute, yet, very sad considering all the atrocities he's comitted. The fact his gravestone highlights the fact he was a brother first and formost killed me and made me cry a bit because yeah. He was an unhinged asshole who owned a Mafia and whatnot, but in the end, he was still a brother and he was still their brother despite everything that happened in the end. And something about that just makes me tear up a bunch. Maybe its the reminder that Clip wasnt always a terrible badguy, maybe its the reminder that he always couldve had a potential redemption arc if he just did it. Or maybe its the reminder that his brothers always loved him and remembered him as the kind, caring, protective older brother who was willing to risk himself if it meant giving them both a good future, even when it was clear that their brother was going off into the deep end. They just wanted their brother man
Anyways. Sorry about getting emotional at the end- the Christmas spirit always made me feel a lot more sentimental than usual. But i just wanted you to know that I love your writing and that these characters have been living rent free in my head for months now- (not that im bothered by it of course) and that i just wanted to give an in depth analysis on something i cherished deeply for once. I hope you have a Merry Christmas (or a Happy Holidays in case you dont celebrate Christmas). Cheers!
(Btw, i also wanted to ask where Sun and Moon got all the cash to donate to Michael's shelter. Im not sure whether a Detective's salary can afford what sounds like a lot of cash)
Thank you for reading! Ahaha, I am eating up every line here! I'm glad it was sweet and cute, and ahhh, even emotional! You hit the nail right on the head. They just wanted their brother ;-;
Michael has healed a lot with Charlie's help. They've saved each other a lot over the years, just like how the detectives and Y/N have each other's back. It's a strong bond ♥
That makes my night! Thank you so much for the analysis and ahhh, that's a huge compliment and I cherish it so much ♥ Merry Christmas!
So it was actually Y/N who donated the cash! Not Sun and Moon. Sorry that it's not clear! Their, uh, vigilante 'salary' is more than enough to handle that hehe
#sleuth jesters#reading analysis just scratches that itch in my brain#white coat#compliments that make me cry (out of joy)

Hi luv. I wanted to ask you what some of your favourite ships have been throughout the years? And what was it about them or their dynamic that drew you in?
Hey there, lovely! Oh wow, great question/s...let me rev my mental engine and see what memories come sputtering out...
I'm assuming you mean the slashy-goodness pairings, rather than the het ones?
Assuming that's the case, as far as the dynamics and what draws me in...there's a noticeable trend with the pairings I like, though I'm not sure if it's required exactly, but seems to be how the slashy-cards fall...which is the whole old as dirt 'enemies to friends' (and in my headspace, lovers) trope. Oorah, I do love a good 180 on all that super-charged energy. I also happen to be a diehard sucker for warriors/cops/soldiers -- this, undoubtedly, is the biggest draw for me.
Yeah, warrior trope (in its myriad forms) is my hands-down favourite. It's what I write and what I enjoy watching/reading. Most of the m/m pairings I like have the dynamic of wit/banter, opposites colliding (though not always), strong male energy (effeminate guys not my thing), equal footing (not a big fan of the top/bottom, uke/seme dynamic, though I can roll with it if both characters stand strong in their male energy no matter who's 'on top'). I also appreciate a bigger picture sense of urgency, depth, or story, that draws the characters together rather than a domestic or fluffy kind of setting (absolutely nothing wrong with either of those, just not my cuppa chai if that's all there is to it).
In no particular order of preference...
Scott/Stonebridge (Strikeback): warriors/soldiers...Yank and Brit. SAS and Delta. Hell and Yes. Mercy, I'm a puddle on the floor. Great combo.
Jorian (Almost Human): cop and robo-cop! Fascinating concept of an android with empathy/emotions partnered with an anti-robot detective. All up in there with this ship. Layered, funny, great chemistry. Was so gutted they discontinued the show after only one season *cries*
Destiel (Supernatural) -- Ooooh, now this Titanic vessel comes with a big caveat insofar as my kinda ships go. I'm predisposed towards what I like to call the pre-Castrated version of Cas (you see what I did there? (^_~ ) Yes, I'm a muppet), where he doesn't allow himself to be treated like such a bloody doormat. Take Cas outta the 'lost puppy that constantly shits the self-esteem rug' persona and thrust him back into his more 'you-should-show-me-some-respect’ warrior energy and I'm aaalllll over that. Doesn't mean he has to lose his fun and endearing quirkiness, or even his devoted attitude towards Dean...but the whole I'll-be-your-punching-bag passiveness for an eons old entity (a 'warrior of god', no less) just rubs me wrong. Ridiculous how epic this pairing would've been if it made canon (though I supposed it kind of did...was legit, albeit unrequited...as far as we know and can assume.)
Rickyl (Walking Dead): cop and...er...outlaw? ;) Loved so much about their dynamic and the depth of their bond. The way they read each other. There's something animal in it at times. They've been through some hella bad shit together.
Sterek (Teen Wolf): ha. Jokes. Now this one is certainly somewhat of a curveball for me, but I couldn't help it, given the brilliant way Dylan O'Brien played to this ship. Not my usual go-to for several reasons, but it tickled me and was good fun.
Thanks for the ASK, Anon! <3 Hope these gave you some indication. The last one is a bit tongue in cheek. I'm sure there are other pairings that just aren't springing to mind and I'll probably kick myself later for it. Either way, these bring back fangirl memories ^_^

The Destiel Folder: Season 5
[Season 4 here]
Episode 1:
Dean is visibly upset about Cas' death, especially at (6:07), and Zachariah notices. From here on, we have a progressive worse reaction from Dean to each of Castiel's deaths
Dean calls Cas a 'friend', again sounding very upset (8:20)
We also get a parallel between Dean and Sam: "I learned that from my friend Cas, you son of a bitch!" and "I learned that from Ruby." (9:10) ICWAW, this parallel would implicate romantic subtext
Cas comes back, bringing top energy onto Zachariah, and Dean just... checks him out (32:43) [this is a frequent thing by the way, I'm on S10 right now, it is]
Episode 2:
I'm so fuckin sorry but I'm laughing too hard at this: D"God" C"Yes" D"God" C"Yes!" (4:09) guys, don't sex-talk in front of Sam and Bobby
"I rebelled, and I did it, all of it, for you." (4:54)
Dean gives in to Cas' top energy "Dean, give it to me." (5:53) shit, guys, enough sex-talk
Episode 3:
The 'personal space scene'. Dean, love, if someone is in your personal bubble, and you don't want them there, you don't stand there for 10 seconds while flicking your gaze from their eyes to their lips TWICE (6:04) ICWAW, these scene would be read as full of sexual tension
Dean here compares himself and Cas to Thelma & Louise, from a movie with HELLA lesbian subtext. And the way he looks at Cas for 7 seconds, tongue between his teeth and just... this fucking look (7:37)
You don't look at friends that way. You don't.
"I need your help, because you're the only one who'll help me. Please". (7:58) Cas trusts Dean will help him while no other would, and he is right... also Dean keeps glancing at his lips
The way Dean fixs Cas' tie and collar, so domestic. (10:34) [This will parallel in 10x05 when Dean messes up musical!Castiel's tie for it to be a legit costume.] Also, the whole police station scene is full of Old married couple moments
"There are two things that I know for certain. One, Bert and Ernie are gay." And then they were voted best chemestry couple like Bert and Ernie. Just saying. (16:23) "Two, you are not gonna die a virgin. Not on my watch... let's go."... and Cas just follows Dean like nothing, but later on...
... Cas is beyond terrified at the idea of being intimate with a woman (11:24),
tho he followed Dean with no problem. ... Did... did he think Dean was making an offer?
He chugs down a beer in fear, poor baby
And he is so jumpy I'm dying
Dean admits Cas is the only one who has made him laugh for real in years (20:58), also, shoulder hug, and Cas, who was on the verge of tears a moment earlier, is smiling and comfortable now.
"Don't look at me, it was his idea." (26:57) the look Cas gives Dean, they're so fucking #MARRIED
"Today you're my little bitch." "... What he said!" Dean is impressed and amused by Cas' smugness (and top energy) (31:55) Basically "Well, mark me down as scared and horny!"
Dean understands how Cas feels, and wants to help. He says he feels good with him "I've had more fun with you in the past 24h that I've had with Sam in years... and you're not that much fun." (36:06) Dean doesn't want to be alone, didn't want Cas to leave.
Episode 4:
Dean sounds and looks like a teenager on the phone with their crush, teasing Cas while smiling softly (1:22). Also "I'll just... wait here then." (2:15)
Even as a mortal, Cas stuck with Dean through the apocalypse, living in pain, chugging down drugs, but never leaving Dean's side. Being his second during hunts. Having only each other
And this Cas can recognize this Dean is not his own only by glancing at him for a moment (... by looking at his dick?!) (18:37)
Dean is stunned and concerned about apocalypse!Cas and how his life turned out
Apocalypse!Cas sits like Dean. Aww, they've been rubbing off on each other [yeah, I bet] (22:27)
"I like past you!" and that smile. So sweet and nostalgic (25:35)
This whole scene (23:48). They are so #MARRIED
Dean is concerned about Cas doing drugs, being basically depressed and living like shit (28:03)
Cas saves Dean again. "We had an appointment." "...Don't ever change." and the way they stare at each other (38:49) look at those smiles and how longingly Cas looks at Dean
Episode 8:
Not a destiel moment, but Dean is totally BI: (12:04); "Sure" (12:42); "What makes Dr Sexy, SEXY, is that he wears cowboy boots!" (12:57); and Dean loves cowboys, just saying
Is... is Dean thinking about Cas being pretty? And about the fact that a creepy guy just called his angel 'pretty'? (20:26)
First thing Dean requests Gabe does is to bring Cas back, threatening him
Episode 9:
Dean reacting to Damien and Barnes being a couple is... LOL (36:27) and after that (38:40), he is on his own, fiddling with his keys, smiling to himself. And when Sam asks if he is okay, he responds "Yeah, you know? I think I'm good." while still smiling to himself. Is he happy about an queer man portraying him, about seeing himself in a confident, openly queer man in a relationship? What else could it be?
Episode 13:
Dean gets more and more worried when Cas gets/is hurt (9:45)(38:02). Also, he got Cas a honeymoon suite. Wow. How sweet.
Episode 14:
The phone call scene. The stares, the tension... look at this shit (10:00)
Dean, stop checking out Cas. You're working. But seriously, look at him. He likes his roughness. AND AGAIN WITH THE LIPS STARING (11:02)
Dean and Cas, after being touched by a cherub, stand shoulder-to-shoulder close to each other, in front of a bi-coloured window (13:26-13:33) I MEAN- Also, Dean, you're staring at a naked man's dong... just saying (13:33-13:36)... stop that, be a professional
Is this the first wink Dean gives at Cas? (14:37) for real? With a cherub in the room? Wow.
(16:16) "Where did he go?" "I belive you upset him." Look at Cas during this scene. #MARRIED
Cas asks Dean where his Famine-induced-hunger is, why he seems unaffected by it... and Dean stares at Cas, then the burger he is holding, then back at him, like he has everything he could want right there, in his Baby (29:22)
Episode 16:
... I'm sorry, but... did Cas really have to MOAN Dean's name to get his attention? (5:24)
I believe this is the first time we ever hear Dean say the words "I love you" (14:38-28:09), and he is saying them to Sam. The only other time we hear him say it is to his mother in 12x22. And the only other person he was supposed to say those words to was, in fact, Cas in 8x17. Let that sink in.
"You son of a bitch." Dean's been rubbing off on Cas, and this is not the only line he has picked up from Dean (38:29)
Episode 17:
This is such a sweet scene. Cas is showing himself weak once again, and Dean sympathises with him, reassures him, confides in him. How sweet. (30:17) ICWAW, this would be seen as a romantic bonding moment
Episode 18:
Cas legit looks like an angry wife. Look how pissed he is at Dean (6:19) #MARRIED
This is such a #MARRIED scene, with Cas being pissy at Dean "being a coward". Also "Yeah, you know what? Blow me, Cas!" and his look after that, like "Does... does he actually want me to?" (13:22)
and this is not the last 'sexual invitation' Dean makes Cas. In fact, minutes later...
"Cas, not for nothing, but, the last person who looked at me like that... I got laid. *wink*" ... just... that (17:53). ICWAW, people would believe this was flirtatious, SHAMELESS, teasing
Look at that FULL TOP MODE tho
"I gave everything for you, and this is what you give to me?" (25:28) Cas is not just angry at Dean for giving up on the plan, but for giving up on life, on them. "So you could surrender to them?" (25:17) not "So you can let them win". It could've been phrased that way, but this is not about the angels winning. It's about Dean giving up on them. Cas is 'cause Dean would be selfishly leaving them
Cas starts taking off his tie and... Dean just stares (31:46). Moments later, we find out Cas totally took his shirt off in front of the boys to make the banishing simbol on his chest, and by the way Dean was STARING when it was only a tie, I bet he either gawked or averted his eyes. Either way, GAY
Cas prefers to die rather than watch Dean fail and die himself (31:55) Also, Sam still thinks of Dean as a hero who can do no wrong, while Cas recognizes his flaws and weaknesses. He knows Dean
Zachariah grabs Dean by the collar and gets in his face. Dean does nothing but flinch a little, mantaining his strong appearance. He only submits and looks overwhelmed when Cas does it (37:50)
Episode 19:
Cas is priority to Dean over Adam. He's more family to him than his actual blood (5:29)
Episode 21:
Cas is basically human, bloody, hurt, powerless and weak. First thing he does? Reach out for Dean (3:16)
Cas is still weak and powerless, and took a bus for miles, just to get back to Dean (12:35)
Episode 22:
Moments before basically going and kill himself, Dean focuses on Cas instead of Bobby, his father figure (24:35)
Cas is on the verge of tears at the thought of Dean dying (25:20)
We know Cas can heal without having to touch the body, but we always see him reach for contact with Dean (35:52) [That's why in S15, it hurts to see Cas not touching Dean while healing him. It feels unnatural]
Dean loves cowboys, and associates Cas to a sheriff. Cas, knowing that, smiles softly at the idea(37:30). Also, Dean obviously doesn't want Cas to leave, and tears up when he does

You're different from them and that's okay but also aren't you you're too different? It's the champion and the two best other trainers of galar and they're rowdy and cool and they like to big dares and dangerous action and you're a farmboy. That's okay and everything but the gap's kind of big and doesn't that get you worried?
❦ "Well, of course we're different! I'd hope we're different; how lonely would it be if we were the same? If we were all mirrors of the same ideas, the world would be an awfully empty place. I get to see things from their eyes sometimes and it's exciting; asking them about their journeys or even just listening to the way they are together makes you feel a bit of that little blaze they've been born with." "It's a wonderful thing and I'm grateful every day that I can be around to listen and learn from them!"
"I know what you mean though; it's hard to see reasons for which people like Lee, Rai, and Piers would be all too keen on spending so much time with me. But then I remember something important..."
"It's hard for someone to notice how wonderful they are when that's their every day life."
"I might not always feel special to myself, but that happens to everyone. And sure, sometimes there's that little nagging doubt that I might be a bit too domestic, a bit of a bore. But if I were someone they didn't like being with, they'd not be here, now would they? Making a bond with someone is a two way street and it's important to remember that the people reaching out for you really do like you, even if you can't always know why."
"So... if you're scared of the gap, try to remember that, alright? There are people reaching out for you and sure, it's a little scary, but they'll be there to help you cross if you just have a little faith in yourself."
