These are all completed. Some are multi chapter. Most have very little smut, if any at all, so if you like that kind of stuff, you’re on your own. AUs are included. If I felt the characterizations were too off, it’s not here. If grammar was unacceptable, it’s not on this list. All of these have Stephen as a main character. These are organized by word count and genre. I've tried to include a little bit of (almost) everything. If you have any suggestions, feel free to reblog with those.

“Arriving Somewhere (But Not Here)” by Imagined: [15817 words / Alternate Universe] “It wasn’t so bad,” Stephen says. “I thought you hated it there?” “Parts of it, maybe. Not everything.” Wong slowly nods. A lamp flickers above their heads; with a snap of his fingers, Stephen brightens it again. The yellowish light seems all the more pronounced for it, casting shadows over Wong’s face. “I don’t regret that I never got the invitation to Ilvermorny,” Wong says eventually. “I would’ve wanted one at the time, I think. But that is what the Sanctum is for. It catches those who fall through the cracks - the unwanted and unseen of the magical world. They would’ve taught me things that would take a lifetime to unlearn. I see that in you, too.” Or: When he is twelve, Stephen Strange gets an invitation letter to the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is only the start of a life spent studying and defying one kind of magic - the one that Stephen seems to belong to, and yet cannot make his own. That is, the road to becoming the Sorcerer Supreme is a long and meandering one.

“Survivors of the Wreck of Time” by amethyst-noir: [16199 words / Hurt/Comfort] Stephen had been in love with Tony Stark for so long, and through so many different timelines, that the feeling had become a fixed part of his being, something that was just there, fully intertwined with his very soul. Something that was treasured, something that gave him strength and comfort when he needed it, something he held close to his heart without even consciously being aware of it. (Sometimes a timeline has to bend and twist to make things that are supposed to be happen.)

“We’re Not In Kansas?” by Catxtopia: [17448 words / Alternate Universe] It was turning out to be a relatively lovely end to a hectic day. So naturally the universe had to throw a wrench in there somewhere. Said wrench came in the form of a strange flying object shooting out of the sky. (Or: Iron Man 3 AU, where Tony crash lands in Nebraska and meets a small town doctor by the name of Stephen Strange)

“If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” by twobettafish: [19290 words / Alternate Universe] Mystical threats always need to be dealt with, even if doing so requires Tony Stark's help. (Sometimes, though, those threats can be kind of stupid.)

Until Persephone wakes alone in a cave, surrounded by ash, smoke and sand, and Hades wakes alone in Kamar Taj, drenched in water and with blood on his sheets. Both alone. And as the Infinity Stones start popping up around them again, and the oddness of this cycle continues, they know that the reckoning is approaching, that the end is near. That the Mad Titan is once more at their door.

"Sometimes Goodbye is a Second Chance" by Aelaer: [37524 words / Canon Divergence] In 2018, the world almost ended. The world almost ended on a surprisingly frequent basis, Stephen had discovered in the last two years. But this time, this time the solution seemed just as bad as the problem itself with five years lost and so much suffering in the interim and the years after. So Stephen pushed himself farther than he ever had before to see if he could find something else: a solution that was less cruel, less harmful, less impacting to both Earth and the universe as a whole. He found it sometime after approximately 22.3 million futures.

“Stop-Loss” by twenty3: [41363 words / Canon Divergence] Tony Stark killed himself on a Monday morning. Peter Parker found his body. Stephen Strange was the first person he called. After the devastating loss, Stephen makes a decision. To use the time stone. To go back and fix things. To fix Tony before he can make the same choice to end his life. It doesn't work. So he tries again. And again. And again. It was his fault the world had lost him. It wasn't going to be his fault it stayed that way.

"A bargain with a dragon" by Mermaid_in_space: [46992 words / Alternate Universe] In a time of need, only one Tony Stark would be stupid enough to strike a bargain with a dragon, to ensure the future safety of his father's kingdom. “By the End of Today” by Imagined: [53835 words / Canon Divergence] For Stephen, Thursday doesn’t end. He is stuck reliving the same day and over again. This by itself is already something of an issue, especially with the Time Stone destroyed and well, and Stephen having little to no clue as to who is behind it, and why he’s the only one who can remember what is going on. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to destroy time loops. Surrounded by people unaware of the situation, Stephen has to navigate his friendships and feelings to hunt down the cause of the green light that keeps restarting the loop, and put an end to the endless Thursdays. It might’ve been a little less complicated, had Tony Stark not been connected to the time loop.

“14,000,605 Pieces of a Soul” by CookieCloud: [57371 words / Hurt/Comfort] After the Snap has been reversed (and everyone survived), Tony's life isn't working out as planned. Things with Pepper are not going well and the Avengers are still split up. Also there is the small problem of Tony's judgement being clouded by the effect of Wanda's mind spell. At the same time, Stephen is struggling to come to terms with all of the futures he experienced in the time stone. And that's already without the spiritual effects they've had on him. But maybe, they can help each other.

"A Crown of Thorn and Shadows" by Golden_Asp: [58465 words / Alternate Universe] Anthony Stark, King of Blood and Darkness, ruler of the Unseelie court, did not expect to find Prince Stephen Strange of the Seelie chained up in his torture chamber, cold iron being driven into his hands. Stephen Strange, a Seelie healer, never dreamed of finding himself in the court of nightmares, being cared for by the king that the Seelie called a monster. They must work together to find the traitors in two Faerie courts that have not spoken in over six hundred years and reclaim Stephen's memories before the courts descend into war once more.

"Time After Time" by lantia4ever: [64186 words / Alternate Universe] Months after dealing with Dormammu, the Time Stone offers Stephen a deal – it will fix his hands so he can once again be a doctor. For a price. A balance. It's everything Stephen could ever wish for and the price is laughably insignificant - so he accepts. "...and dance by the light of the moon" by atypicalsnowman: [69972 words / Hurt/Comfort] Stephen was in trouble. Big trouble. The kind of trouble that even Tony with his nearly limitless resources couldn't get him out of. He's never been a praying man, but they need a miracle. He’s not sure about God, but Thor always said wonderful things about his mother. At this point, Stephen needs a goddess’ intervention, so Tony sends up a prayer and hopes. The good news is, Frigga hears Tony’s prayer and decides Stephen needs the help of a guardian angel. The bad news is the angel she sends is Loki.

"Looks Like Bending Time" by FriendlyNeighborhoodFangirls: [74899 words / Alternate Universe] The dawn sings in Stephen Strange’s ears when he is born. The dawn and the fields and the souls of his mother and father and the watch his sister buys him on his ninth birthday—it all sings, countless melodies written into the universe. There are songs and there is the boy, and there seems to be no way to separate one from the other. Stephen listens and pretends he cannot, and he lives in safety as a surgeon and a success. But he can only hide from the unknown for so long. The search for answers leads him into a dance of spies and realms and conspiracy, side-by-side and saving a man with a song like a falcon spreading its wings. There is a watch and a suit of impossible armor and a lurking serpent seeking power from the shadows. And always, there is the song. What is silence, really?

"Time-Lost" by Bravehardt, Foxglove_Fiction: [107078 / Alternate Universe] Reoccurring nightmares kept Tony up at night; dreams of those closest to him dying over and over again in an endless cycle - haunting him and depriving him of sleep. Reaching his breaking point, Tony consults Stephen to help rid himself of these nightmares. It seems as though Stephen might be closer to Tony than he initially thought - or hoped and the barriers between patient and doctor relationship are starting to blur. Neither of them could have predicted that some of the dreams they have both been subject to are more than simple dreams but possibly fragments of memories from a life long passed.

A basic guide to the relics, locations, books, and dimensions related to the Masters of the Mystic Arts. Sorted by Relics, Books, Locations, and Dimensions. Images of relics and books included.

Relics

Relics are objects imbued with magic too powerful for a sorcerer to sustain. By enchanting the relic, the strain is taken from the sorcerer and allows the magic to be safely used and wielded.

Eye of Agamotto- The amulet holding the Time Stone, meant to contain it. Created by Agamotto, the first Sorcerer Supreme and founder of the Masters of the Mystic Arts. Appears to have been used by all The Ancient Ones/Sorcerers Supreme. Allows whoever wears it to control the power of the Time Stone and loop, manipulate, reverse, fast forward, and see the future. A spell was placed upon the amulet that protected the Stone from theft, even in the event of Stephen Strange's death. Used by The Ancient One and Doctor Stephen Strange. Resides in the globe room of Kamar-Taj when not in use. After End Game, Stephen Strange continues to wear the empty amulet, as the Time Stone was destroyed by Thanos following the Snap.

Cloak of Levitation- A bright red cloaked of unknown origins that is described as 'a fickle thing'. It does not appear to choose masters easily and was kept in a display case in the New York Sanctum when not on use. Its case was broken open by Kaecilius throwing Stephen Strange through it during the Battle of the New York Sanctum. It intervened when Kaecilius tried to kill Strange, and proceeded to save his life. The relic is now in the possession of Stephen Strange. Was damaged by the Scarlet Witch in the Battle of Kamar-Taj and was repaired by 838 Christine Palmer with a patch of blue fabric.

Staff of the Living Tribunal- A staff imbued with magic. The specific capabilities of the magic are unknown in the MCU. It can be used as a quarterstaff or segmented into a whip-like weapon with fiery energy. It is used by and currently in the possession of Karl Mordo.

Daggers of Daveroth- Strange-looking daggers kept in a holder within the New York Sanctum. Abilities, enchantments, and uses unknown. Knocked over by Thor in Thor: Ragnarök.

Wand of Watoomb- A long club-like relic kept by the Masters of the Mystic Arts. It is able to absorb, redirect, and amplify magic. The end features a carving of horned heads, the eyes of which glow when used. The rest of the wand is wrapped in brown leather. Wielded by Wong in the Battle of the Hong Kong Sanctum.

Crimson Bands of Cyttorak- A contraption of metal forged in Babylon, 900s BC. They are stored on a wall in the upper floor of the New York Sanctum. They have the ability to bind and gag whoever is encased by them. Used by Stephen Strange and the Cloak of Levitation to bind Kaecilius during the Battle of the New York Sanctum; he latter escaped them through unknown means. It is also the name of the spell Stephen Strange used to ensnare Thanos with multiple times on Titan.

Vaulting Boots of Valtorr- Enchanted boots that allow the wearer to jump and leap through the air at unusual heights and walk on air. They nullify the adverse effects of impact, allowing 'flight' and safe landings. They emit orange sparks when it use, and produce small magical platforms beneath the soles with each step. Currently in the possession of Karl Mordo.

Sling Ring- The most basic and important part of a Master of the Mystic Arts' arsenal. It allows the channeling of dimension energy to create a portal to any place the user wishes, including, it seems, other dimensions. Most commonly used for transportation from one location to the next, and size of the portal that is produced varies depending on the casting of the user. It is the only known way to exit the Mirror Dimension. Also called slingy(ies).

Space-Time Shard/Space Shard- Transparent weapons crafted from energy of the Dark Dimension wielded by Kaecilius and the Zealots. They are used as blade, and explode into dark bursts upon impacts with a non-human target when thrown. Kaecilius murdered Daniel Drumm and Lucian Aster badly injured Stephen Strange with one during the Battle of the New York Sanctum. Kaecilius later used one to murder The Ancient One in the Battle of the Mirror Dimension.

Brazier of Bom'Galiath- A large brazier that glows brightly with magic kept in the New York Sanctum. It enhances spells cast over it, near it. It was used by Stephen Strange against Kaecilius in the Battle of the New York Sanctum. Not knowing how to use it, Stephen used it as a club.

The Sands of Nisanti- Sands kept in a glass container capable of rendering targets unconscious and stop them from using magic. It is unclear if their mere presence allows this, or if grains of the Sands must be consumed in some manner. Used by 838 Baron Karl Mordo to incapacitate Stephen Strange and America Chavez, and used by 838 Christine Palmer to create magic-proof prisons and handcuffs. Kept in the New York Sanctum

The Cauldron of the Cosmos- A large, enchanted cauldron kept in the New York Sanctum. Uses and capabilities unknown in the MCU.

Books

Books containing spells and knowledge of magic. Some are kept in the masters' library of Kamar-Taj or The Ancient One's private collection, forbidden to be used by students and masters without the permission of Sorcerer Supreme or the librarian.

The Book of Cagliostro- A book kept in The Ancient One's private collection in the masters' library in Kamar-Taj. It is filled with dark rituals and spells, including a ritual to contact Dormammu in the Dark Dimension. It also includes rituals of how to steal power from the Dark Dimension and extend one's life. Contains instructions and explanations on the power of time, the Time Stone, and the Eye of Agamotto. All the warnings come after the spells. The rituals to contact Dormammu were stolen by Kaecilius and kept in a leather folder and these rituals, at least, are written in Nelvayu (according to the initial trailer and deleted content, the pages then fall into the possession of Karl Mordo after the Battle of Hong Kong).

The Book of Vishanti- A legendary book thought by most to be a myth. The knowledge of its existence is a closely-guarded secret of the Sorcerers Supreme. It is hidden in the Gap Junction. It is the anti-thesis of the Darkhold and resistant to its magic, the spells contained within its pages granting whoever uses it the ability to defeat their enemy. Destroyed by the Scarlet Witch.

The Darkhold/The Books of Sins/The Book of Spells/The Book of the Damned- A book of spells containing written versions of dark magic originally created by Chthon. It is filled with dark, corrosive, corrupted magic. Causes obsession and possessiveness in the holder, along with amplifying their fears and desires to the point they can be driven to insanity. The spells contained within include spells for dreamwalking and controlling the souls of the damned. Used by Agatha Harkins, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Stephen Strange, 838 Stephen Strange, and Sinister Strange. One copy was destroyed by Sara Wolfe in Kamar-Taj at the sacrifice of her own life. Those who use its magic are inflicted with pure black staining the fingers, traveling further down the more they use it. In Stephen Strange and his variants, the corruption manifests as a Third Eye.

The Book of the Invisible Sun, Astronomia Nova, Codex Imperium, The Key of Solomon, The Book of Cagliostro, Maxim's Primer, Vedic Classical Sanskrit- Various books kept in the library of Kamar-Taj. Their uses and contents are unknown.

Locations

Kamar-Taj- The headquarters of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, located in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is separated from the rest of the city and contains temples, training grounds, and various buildings where the residents reside. The basement of the library contains a magical globe used to keep watch over threats to the Earth, and doorways to all the Sanctums.

The Sanctums are buildings built by the Masters of the Mystic Arts at the intersections of cosmic and dimensional energy. Their construction was ordered by Agamotto, the first Sorcerer Supreme, in these places of power. Great cities sprouted around them. Together, they generate a protective shield around the Earth. In turn, the Masters of the Mystic Arts protect the Sanctums.

The New York Sanctum- A large, old mansion located at 177A Bleeker Street, Greenwich Village, New York City. It, like its sisters, help provide a magical bearer against magical, supernatural, and otherworldly threats to Earth. During the Battle of Manhattan, it was guarded by The Ancient One. At some following point, Daniel Drumm was named master, and was killed by Kaecilius defending it. Stephen Strange succeeded him. Following the Snap, Wong took over as the master. Vast stores of relics are kept inside, along with a magical prison in the basement. A Rotunda of Doors leads to various locations, such as a desert, jungle, forest, mountain range, and ocean, all changed by a turn of a knob.

The London Sanctum- A Sanctum located in London. It was destroyed by Kaecilius and his Zealots, only to later be rebuilt. One master, Sol Rama, was killed while running to Kamar-Taj for aid. It also contains many relics inside.

The Hong Kong Sanctum- A Sanctum located in Hong Kong. It was the target of Kaecilius and his Zealots in an attempt to allow Dormammu to take over the Earth. While it was initially destroyed and their plan a success, it was returned to its undestroyed state by Stephen Strange reversing time. It contains stores of relics. The only known master is Tina Minoru.

Dimensions

Various dimensions roughly adjacent to our own. Not to be confused with the Multiverse, different universes, or different planets.

The Mirror Dimension- A dimension (presumably) crafted by the Master of the Mystic Arts. It is ever present but undetected. The real world is not affected by what happens inside it. The Masters of the Mystic Arts use the Mirror Dimension to safely train, surveil threats and situations, and to sometimes contain threats. The only known way to exit is by Sling Ring. The dimension distorts the surroundings and appears as different facets of broken mirrors, making it often hard to tell where a threat is located. Matter and space can be bent in it, and it amplifies dark magic, also revealing the hidden symbols on the foreheads of those who have used rituals to draw power from the Dark Dimension. Portals inside are easily opened, appearing as a wall of broken glass, and can be thrown down on enemies to trap them quickly.

The Dark Dimension- This is where Dormammu dwells. It is a dimension beyond time. It is filled with dark power and magic, and is filled with the remains of planets and universes that have been conquered and devoured by Dormammu. It is unsettling in appearance, filled with floating orbs of blues, greens, pinks, and purples, all connected by odd strands. There is no apparent light source, and the sky is dark and dotted with more of the orbs and strands. It will come down like a storm when swallowing a planet. The Mindless Ones, slaves of Dormmamu, also reside here.

The Astral Dimension- The spirit dimension, accessible by astral projecting oneself. It is one of many astral dimensions. It coexists directly alongside the real world, much like the Mirror Dimension. Unlike the Mirror Dimension, what happens inside can effect the real world. A soul can be attacked, injured, and killed like in the real world, resulting in permanent death. A person may choose to enter this dimension, or be forced onto it by a strike to the chest via a sorcerer. Time can also be slowed temporarily, and windows opened into the real world. Magical books appear to also have a form in this dimension.

The Actiniaria Dimension- It is a harshly lit dimension filled with yellowish clouds and dark orange orbs dotted with protrusions of pulsing yellow and green. These orbs explode into violent geysers of orange-gold or green-yellow sparks and send out waves of the same color across the clouds. The explosions do not appear to cause any harm.

The Flowering Incense Dimension- Not much is known about this dimension. It was briefly visited by Stephen Strange when The Ancient One sent him on a journey through the multiverse. It resembles incense smoke blooming from the inside out, constantly reforming and folding in on itself. Patterns of smoke, dust, and matter are visible within it.

The Mandelibus Dimension- A disturbing dimension that at first glance takes on the appearance of a rocky tunnel network. The only known appearance was actually broken, shifting statues stacked together, all bearing the likeness of Stephen Strange. These then grew into a mass of hands that ensnared him, only for more hands to sprout from his fingertips, which in turn sprouted more hands, and so on. A vast image of Stephen then appeared, and he was sucked through the eye, exiting the dimension. It is an ever-shifting reality.

The Grass Jelly Dimension- A fractal dimension that is entered through a mirror-like tunnel. The surroundings are green-blue space with faceted objects of various shades and sizes with brilliant colors visible inside floating through it.

About the requirements:

- Only 616 adult ships were chosen. No objects or monsters. Some were based off my personal preference, others by works made by fans (popular or not).

- Obviously, most are not canon. This is just for fun.

Summary: You and your friend, Ritchie, are scavengers. You live in a seaside city with a stronghold on the shores called Serenia. You are a scavenger and work with Ritchie. You have a keen eye for details and known to find rare artifacts. You enjoy the shores of Serenia but the city depresses you. You long to leave the city and hope one day you can. You had heard stories about Stephen and wondered what happened to him. As for Mordo, his presence is unnerving.

Jacob Anderson as Ritchie:

Your best friend and fellow scavenger. He is your biggest support and has been with you from the start. You two hang out outside of the jobs you pick up. He is known to be daring and fun loving. Ritchie doesn’t know much about Stephen but knows to stay clear of Mordo.

Natasha Lyonne as Lydia:

One of your closest friends and fellow scavengers. Her expertise is disguises and information. When Dimitri got arrested, she disguised herself as a guard just to make fun of him. She picks up jobs here and there. She has never gone to the Forbidden Island but knows it’s bad news. Lydia had only heard rumors about Stephen but doesn’t believe them.

Edward Norton as Dimitri:

A con man and prisoner in Serenia City. He was arrested by Mordo for stealing his ancient sword and for trespassing on the Forbidden Island. He worked with Lydia before he was arrested. Lydia despises him and mocks him every chance she can for making such a stupid mistake. He is the only onw known to venture far into the island. Dimitri had only encountered Stephen through passing.

Christian Bale as Lord Cassian:

Lord of Serenia City. He is a kind and stern leader. He listens the advice of Mordo but often dismisses it as he feels it’s too harsh. His people love him but his close confidants feel he is too soft. Cassian was one of the last to see Sorcerer Supreme Stephen Strange. Since Stephen’s disappearance he took note of the Forbidden Island and warned his people not to go there.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange:

Once Sorcerer Supreme now disappeared from the face of the Earth. Stephen was once called upon to help with the supernatural. He was known as a peace keeper and many build memorials to honor him. When he disappeared the world was shocked. His last known location was Serenia City.

Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor/K'uk'ulkan:

King of Talokan and known to his people as K'uk'ulkan. He keeps a careful watch of any new inhabitants near the ocean. He had a few interactions with Lord Cassian at Serenia and deemed him not to be a threat however, he is suspicious of Mordo as magic is not something he favors. He is aware of the Forbidden Island and warns hi people not to go there.

Benedict Wong as Wong:

Long time friend of Stephen and assisted him on many missions. After Stephen’s disappearance he stayed in Kamar Tajj and took on the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme. He fought, defeated, and banished Karl Mordo from Kamar Tajj. He mourned the loss of his friend and holds back his anger for him. He has suspicion that Mordo is responsible for Stephen’s disappearance.

Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo/Chancellor Mordo:

Enemy of Stephen Strange and now chancellor for Lord Cassian at Serenia. His magic has now been limited, forcing him to stay in the town while he plots his revenge. He keeps an eye on the Forbidden Island and anyone who dares to go there. He arrests anyone that goes to the island.

The Owl Sanctum

A crossover between The Owl House and Doctor Strange (2016) SYNOPSIS: The magic of Doctor Strange and The Owl House collide in The Owl Sanctum, and at the center of the story is the teenage foster brother of self-assured teen Luz Noceda, Stephen Strange, whose life changed forever after a horrific car accident robbed him of his mother and the use of his hands.

When Stephen and Luz accidentally stumbled through a portal to the magical realm of the Boiling Isles, their lives began to change for the good as the foster siblings find themselves in a world where magic, witches, and demons are real! There, they meet Edalyn “The Owl Lady” Clawthorne, the most respected, feared, and powerful witch on the Boiling Isles; and her small, furry sidekick, King, as they stay with them at the Owl Sanctum.

Luz wanted to become a witch, so Eda agrees to take her in as her apprentice, but Stephen doesn’t want to learn magic beyond healing his hands for he has to retain his childhood dreams to become an Earth surgeon as he had gone through every magical treatment imaginable and every college-level textbook for any hope of a magical remedy that can heal his hands and his nerve damage.

But Stephen quickly learns that he was born with magical abilities because he has the heart of a witch with a magic bile sac and later discovers the journal of the Ancient One, a powerful Sorcerer Supreme from long ago who left behind a series of clues which lead to the most ancient and powerful artifacts she left behind all across the Boiling Isles to ensure that converging dark forces and mystical threats can’t get their hands on them.

With Eda’s teachings, King’s encouragement, the Ancient One’s journal as a guide, and the help of new friends Clea, Wong, Amity, Willow, and Gus, Stephen and Luz are well on their way to find the most sacred of magical relics of the Ancient One – such as the Book of Vishanti, the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak that acts as the antithesis of the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, a box set of Sling Rings, the Wand of Watoomb, the Cloak of Levitation, the Mirror Scroll, Dragonfang, and even the Eye of Agamotto, created by the father of the mystic arts, the mighty Agamotto – and battle against unseen forces of Agatha Harkness, Baron Karl Mordo, Emperor Belos, Nightmare, Mephisto, Dormammu of the Dark Dimension, the Imperator, Umar, and even…Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch!

Despite how much they drive each other nuts, Luz and Stephen still genuinely love each other and always have each other’s backs.

The Owl Sanctum explores and follows the narrative of what would happen if the events of The Owl House (2020-2023) occurred differently with the inclusion of the mystical world of Doctor Strange – including Stephen Strange, Clea, Wong, The Ancient One, the Dark Dimension, Scarlet Witch, the title of Sorcerer Supreme and much more.
