I don’t know if a better quote could sum up why we needed the March and Rallies for Science that we had today, all over the world.

So, I started off today by wishing my stepdaughter a very Happy Birthday. I then proceeded to check in with social media to see what was happening in the world on Earth Day 2017, while watching the March for Science coverage on C-Span. It was the rally in Washington D.C..

After sharing a few posts about, and thinking about just how important I believe it to be, a nagging started in my mind. That it is one of the most important fights our world knows today, and I should do more too. With that in mind, I started looking up cities where the rally and marches were happening today, because I knew, with them being in all the major cities worldwide, I would probably be driving into Seattle for sure, which I imagine would have been way bigger and pretty awesome, but I found out they were doing one here in Tacoma, so I decided, in less than an hour after waking up, that I was going to practice what I preach and be the change I want to see in the world. Support the change I want to see in the world! And I would support locally, because I knew that, although the Seattle one would have been great, it already plenty of support.

It really is that god damn important, to me for sure, but should be to us all, especially since it is for us all, and our CHILDREN, AND OUR GRANDCHILDREN. I probably could have been content staying home and watching it on t.v., but it was definitely more gratifying getting out there with the other like-minded members of the community. We are in a fight that we shouldn’t even be fighting in the first place. Plus doing my part means BEING the change I want to see in the world, supporting a cause I believe in with my whole heart, and striving for a better world for our children and grandchildren to grow up in.

Because greedy people with agendas, such as big pharmaceutical companies, big oil companies, etc. send lobbyists to “persuade” our politicians, your representatives to vote down things like climate change, which for all intents and purposes, are based on facts. Facts found by 97% of the world’s leading scientific community to be real. Along with things like cutting federal funding in important research and development areas/fields deemed less important. Are you kidding me? Not one day goes by, I don’t think about the blinding and dumbing down of ‘muricans, who really should wake up on issues that may not directly affect them right now, but will, without a doubt affect every member of our grandchildren’s generation. Hell, that may be half the reason I feel so obligated to be on the right side of this issue. Think about it from a standpoint of compassion, from your heart.

For future generations, who, if you have to, are related directly to you. Picture them in the future struggling to save things we have destroyed. And for fuck’s sake vaccinate your children! Jesus Christ already. You can be smart about it. You can even do it slowly over a longer period of time if you want to, I get that, but fucking vaccinate your kids!!!!

I came home posted pics of the rally, watched the last episode of the second and last season of the Ranch on Netflix, which made me sad for several reasons, mainly because it makes me miss home, and then I napped. It was a good day, aside from the fact that there are people fighting against our own well-being, who deny scientific facts, which are facts and not up for debate, people who have only to gain (financially) by denying it and those who follow them blindly off into the sunset.

For those who remain neutral, “The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.” - Dante Alighieri. This is some of those times. You don’t ever have to feel obligated to get involved, but if in your heart, you know something to be wrong or unjust, and you don’t step up, or you don’t say something then, by default, you become part of the problem.

It’s odd, that as I get to the end of this entry, the dark, rainy and overcast sky just opened up for some very bright sunlight to shine down on us here! Science is everything, we would be lost without it today, and wouldn’t be as far had we never had it, because everything we know is, in one way or another, based in, for, around, and/or explained by science.

Because of science we can keep sharing the love and the laughter with those in the world around us, just sayin’.
