I have said this before but the Russell Brand story has put it in my mind again- I genuinely believe that the majority of men have sexually assaulted or at the least behaved inappropriately towards a woman before. I can't think of any other reason why so many of them are so paranoid about 'FaLsE aCcUsAtIoNs' which are very rare anyway.
Abuse accusations (and actual convictions) have very little impact on men's lives- Donald Trump, Johnny Depp, Kevin Spacey, Nick Kyrgios, Mason Greenwood, Cristiano Ronaldo etc etc. Sure some women on the internet might be angry at them, but in practice how have these men's lives been affected? If anything they have only gained more support from other disgusting men
Rape is often really hard to prove legally even when there is evidence, men do not get sent to jail just because a woman says 'I was raped'. And convictions are so low- if you haven't done anything wrong you have nothing to be afraid of, even if you have raped or assaulted a woman statistically you are very unlikely to face any actual consequences
And yet so many men claim to be terrified of these evil women who make up malicious lies about abuse. I think most of them have committed a crime like this at some point because look how many cases have had loads of evidence but the man still got away with it- why would you be so paranoid if you haven't done anything wrong?
(funny how all women have been or know a woman who has been sexually assaulted, but no men seem to know any abusers, even though all they all seem to know a man whose life was destroyed by a false allegation)

The Usual Suspects (1995), directed by Bryan Singer, is a masterfully crafted crime thriller known for its intricate plot and one of the most famous twists in cinematic history. The film revolves around five criminals—Dean Keaton (Gabriel Byrne), Michael McManus (Stephen Baldwin), Fred Fenster (Benicio del Toro), Todd Hockney (Kevin Pollak), and Verbal Kint (Kevin Spacey)—who are brought together for a lineup in New York. What begins as a simple job quickly spirals into a deadly heist orchestrated by the mysterious and feared crime lord, Keyser Söze.
Told primarily through the unreliable narration of Verbal Kint, the story unfolds in a series of flashbacks as he recounts the events to a police detective, explaining how the group became entangled in Söze’s web. As the narrative builds, the characters are manipulated into a final confrontation that leaves nearly everyone dead.
The film’s brilliance lies in its carefully constructed plot and its use of misdirection. Kevin Spacey’s portrayal of Verbal, a meek and seemingly harmless con man, earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. His performance is pivotal to the film’s jaw-dropping reveal, which leaves the audience questioning everything they thought they knew.
The Usual Suspects is celebrated for its sharp script, written by Christopher McQuarrie, and its atmospheric direction. The film’s unforgettable ending, where Keyser Söze’s identity is revealed, has become a defining moment in cinema, cementing the movie’s status as a modern classic and a masterclass in storytelling.

Why the menendez brothers support Amber Heard feel so important and how their experiences parallel each other. Part 2
Amber Heard was also met with ridiculed, harassment and people mocking her rape testimony on tiktok. Saying things like "what did Johnny Depp do wrong" and overusing the step on a bee audio.
Both Amber Heard and The Menendez Brothers were forced to relive their trauma and the media as well as the public saw this as one big joke because in their opinion, they deserve it for not being perfect victim.
The only positive and important thing is that many DV experts and organisations have come out in support of Amber Heard and The Menendez Brothers.
I also wanna point out how the Menendez Brothers believing Amber Heard and identifying with her because of their similar experience shows the hypocrisy when it comes to Johnny Depp supporters and many others.
The people who complain about how others ignore male victims, yet they only seem to say this when the topic is about a female victim or the abuser using DARVO on the victim, they are sending death threats to.
They were silent involving the trial involving male victims of Kevin spacey and even made fun of Richard Gadd when speaking out about his abuse. Yet, they are so vocal to support abusers like Johnny Depp and Marilyn Manson.
I hope that one day, the Menendez Brothers are set free, and I hope that Amber Heard does end up escaping that man and his cultish fans.

The red ribbon awareness campaign started in the spring of 1991 when costume designer Marc Happel attended a Manhattan meeting of the Visual AIDS artist caucus. He had an idea for an awareness symbol they’d been searching for. He proposed the red-ribbon design you see above. He said he took inspiration from yellow ribbons he’d seen tied around trees to honor servicemen. The artist caucus loved Happel’s idea and ran with it. Local businesses donated supplies. Cutting, folding, and pinning soon went into overdrive at ribbon bees” — like quilting bees, only designed to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. Within a few weeks, the ribbons were often spotted on NYC streets, though few people knew what they meant.
Then Daisy Eagan, the 11-year-old star of The Secret Garden, accepted the show’s first award, best featured actress. And she was wearing a red ribbon! Kevin Spacey also wore a ribbon. So did Penn and Teller. By the end of the show, almost every celebrity who walked onstage had worn a prominent red ribbon, though no one told viewers why — possibly because the network threatened to cut audio if anyone talked about AIDS. That mystery-marketing tactic was probably unintentional, but it couldn’t have been more powerful if professionals had planned it. By the end of the next day, the whole nation was buzzing. Why had all those famous actors worn identical ribbons? Why didn’t they talk about them? What’s going on? Answers came fast as celebrities and AIDS activists gave interviews to local and national media. To paraphrase: “HIV/AIDS is a humanitarian crisis killing our friends and neighbors. We as a nation are not doing nearly enough. We wear the red ribbon to call for greater love and more action. We ask you, all of you watching, to wear the ribbon too.” The nation responded, and not just in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Yes, from the Oscars and People’s Choice Awards to beauty pageants and town halls, red ribbons became de rigueur fashion, but the ribbons weren’t just for celebrities. I flew home to visit family in a conservative state in 1994, surprised to see flight attendants, baggage handlers, bartenders, grocery-store cashiers, and even one cab driver wearing little red ribbons on their chests. I didn’t yet grasp why they were important. Grief had traumatized me. Important activism had focused me. I didn’t look up to see the bigger picture: Americans everywhere were wearing their consciences over their hearts. People who had been members of silent majorities were speaking up in daily public solidarity. Maybe they didn’t know much about HIV/AIDS. Maybe they would never do more than say, “We wear the red ribbon to call for greater love and more action.” But by making that silent daily statement, they normalized support, caring, and hope. They said no to hate and fear.
A wonderful history and a contemporary call to action from my buddy James Finn. Until very recently, I have been cynical about symbolic, sometimes "performative" gestures like these. Like a younger James, I was cynical because I'd seen so many people profess to carry certain values but then not live up to them. That's changing for me now.

So many people who supported Johnny Depp and cried about how people need to believe male victims ALSO supported Kevin Spacey and didn’t believe his male victims… they only care about “male victims” if there is a woman they can hate on. Heard experienced a global, widespread misogynistic smear campaign but people shitting on her aren’t seen as misogynistic because it was socially acceptable to shit on her. There is so much more vitriol aimed at “abusive women” (who tend to be women who are falsely accused of abuse due to DARVO) than actual abusive men, really makes you think.
for real. the depp heard trial was a fucking phenomenon, virtually inescapable. i was sitting through an hour of my art teacher and classmates giving their takes on the trial and armchair diagnosing heard with bipolar on the daily. the worlds most publicized domestic abuse trial and it was because people thought their male fave was being abused by a manipulative bitch. cant stand anyone who says male victims are listened to less than female ones when there was a solid few months of the media cycle entirely dedicated to shitting on female abuse survivors

It was good that they replaced Kevin Spacey in All the Money in the World but it left people with the impression that you can just do that with any upcoming movie when All the Money in the World was a happy accident. Spacey was playing a supporting role who mostly talks to people in rooms, but also the director had been forced to cast Spacey and was entirely prepared to ditch him for his first choice. They could reshoot his scenes in just ten days, unlike a lead role, especially in a movie full of special effects like The Flash
Also Army of the Dead, which did manage to replace Chris D'Elia, but that also wasn't a lead role and required Tig Notaro to act opposite nobody on a greenscreen. It's not workable to do at scale

Charles is a piece of shit. He’s been friends with jimmy saville, is financially supporting Andrew and now is supporting Kevin spacey. The man clearly sides with sex offenders and pedophiles. He can rot in hell with them as far as I care.
He has no morals whatsoever
And send tweet.
I honestly did think his days of being that way were long over and naively did believe he actually cared about throwing that unfortunate DNA connection out of Windsor too but that's not it at all. He would fall face first on hot coals if it were up to me.

Moviez:
INHERENT VICE (2014): Excellent Paul Thomas Anderson adaptation of the 2008 Thomas Pynchon novel, a '70s hippie-stoner riff on Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe, starring Joachim Phoenix as pothead P.I. Doc Sportello, who is drawn into a complex scheme involving his ex-girlfriend Shasta (Katherine Waterston) and her missing real estate mogul boyfriend (Eric Roberts). Long and leisurely paced, retaining most of the novel's convoluted plot and a good deal of Pynchon's deadpan humor, INHERENT VICE is not nearly as bleak as the detective films of the era in which it's set (e.g., Robert Altman and Leigh Brackett's cruel 1973 adaptation of Chandler's THE LONG GOODBYE, to which both versions of VICE are often compared), but Anderson plays reasonably fair with the mystery, and, like the novel, treads a pleasingly considered line between the doomed romanticism of the genre's hard-boiled antecedents and wistful nostalgia for the dreams of a mostly vanished era. It's also one of Phoenix's career-best performances (although his gruesome muttonchops aren't easy to stomach), with a strong supporting cast (including Josh Brolin, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro, and Martin Short), and Anderson makes the inspired decision to translate big chunks of the novel's third-person prose to a voiceover by Joanna Newsom (as Doc's hippie friend Sortilège). CONTAINS LESBIANS? In passing, courtesy of the ever-delightful Hong Chau. VERDICT: Extremely satisfying if you can tune into its particular wavelength — the only PTA film to date that I actually enjoy.
L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (1997): Glossy but annoyingly defanged Curtis Hanson adaptation of the hardboiled James Ellroy novel, about a battle of wills between three LAPD detectives — twitchy thug Bud White (Russell Crowe), slick hustler Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey), and brittle college boy Edmund Exley (Guy Pearce) — surrounding a high-profile robbery/homicide and its politically charged aftermath in 1953 Los Angeles. Highly acclaimed at the time, the film hasn't aged well: It's well-cast and well-acted, and it still looks great, but Hanson and Brian Helgeland's script excises about half of the novel's sprawling, squalid plot (sometimes neatly, sometimes not) and eventually squanders too much credibility trying to contrive a facile good-guys-vs.-bad-guys resolution, culminating in a preposterous new ending that ties everything up in a neat bow in ways the novel pointedly does not. (Ellroy has since disowned the film, although it's still better than the disastrous Brian De Palma adaptation of Ellroy's THE BLACK DAHLIA a decade later.) CONTAINS LESBIANS? Only fleetingly. VERDICT: Scaling down the novel's scope and nastiness isn't always a bad thing, but it sacrifices far too much moral complexity in the process.
LAST EXMAS (2024): Cute but very slight lesbian romcom about two former high school girlfriends (Elena Milo and Shaeane Jimenez), who are drawn together again when they both return to their small hometown for Christmas 10 years after their breakup. Appealing leads compensate some for the lulls in the sitcomish script and the frequent overacting of costar Raven Maducdoc, as a gossipy busybody the protagonists knew in high school. CONTAINS LESBIANS? Prominently! VERDICT: Never really departs from formula, but pleasant gay background noise for those who can't resist a seasonal glass of eggnog.
NEXT OF KIN (1982): Well-crafted if deliberately paced Australian horror-thriller about a young woman named Linda Stevens (Jackie Kerin) inheriting the small nursing home on her estranged mother's rural estate, which might be haunted. Has definite overtones of THE SHINING with a soupçon of PSYCHO, with strong atmosphere and a very '80s synth score by Klaus Schulze of Tangerine Dream, although the understated story withholds any real action until nearly the end, and the explosive finale (which loops back around to the opening scene) lacks a certain final punch. Kerin is very good — she's nearly the whole show — as is John Jarratt as Linda's hunky lunkhead ex-boyfriend, who's hoping for another shot. CONTAINS LESBIANS? No. VERDICT: Doesn't quite live up to its lofty modern critical standing, but an interesting, effective slow-burn thriller. CW for sexual assault near the end.
Teevee:
ANGELYNE (2022): Smugly malicious, fictionalized five-part pseudo-documentary about self-made Los Angeles celebrity Angelyne (here played by Emmy Rossum), whose cryptic self-promoting billboards and pink Corvettes were L.A. local color for years. There are several ways one could potentially approach Angelyne as a phenomenon, from a commentary on celebrities becoming famous for being famous to just leaning into her fantastical internal narrative like a Francesca Lia Block novel, but the show is mostly a mean-spirited, self-conscious period piece whose main object is to sneer contemptuously at self-deluded losers à la Paul Thomas Anderson's repulsive BOOGIE NIGHTS. There are occasional flashes of visual inspiration, like the "Galaxina" sequence in Ep. 3 and the fantasy sequences in the finale, but nothing in the story ever really justifies the nastiness of the narrative approach, which I found almost as off-putting as Rossum's lead performance, an unsympathetic caricature that becomes particularly indefensible in the final episode, dealing with Angelyne's generational trauma as the daughter of Holocaust survivors. CONTAINS LESBIANS? No. VERDICT: No matter how full of shit the real Angelyne might be, she's done nothing to deserve this sneering hatchet job.
THE FIRM (2012): Terrible one-season TV spinoff of the John Grisham legal thriller, with attorney Mitch McDeere (Josh Lucas) and his too-loyal wife Abby (Molly Parker) trying to rebuild their lives 10 years after bringing down Mitch's mobbed-up previous firm, only to find they've made some even more dangerous enemies. The first three-fourths of the season, with Martin Donovan and Tricia Helfer (of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) as villains, is unbearably stupid and frequently offensive, and Mitch might well be the least competent TV defense lawyer in the entire history of the medium. The final half-dozen episodes, which shift focus to the mob catching up with Mitch, are better, but still not very good. Josh Lucas is a hopelessly uncharismatic lead, a real millstone around the show's neck; Callum Keith Rennie has charisma, but is hopelessly miscast as Mitch's ex-con brother/investigator, and Juliette Lewis is completely wasted as Mitch's sassy secretary. CONTAINS LESBIANS? No. VERDICT: Decidedly infirm. CW for an upsetting sequence in Ep. 14 where Abby is kidnapped and tortured.

Nope, sorry, not believing this is a situationship in order to hide charmie. I'm done. Bigger actors with more prestige than Timothee like George Takei and Ian MckEllen have come out of the closet in times more dangerous to the lgbt+ community and not only have they not lose any power inside the industry, but also have become beloved queer icons inside the entertainment industry. And even seeing controversial icons, look at Kevin Spacey, a creep but a gay creep that got two Oscars for best actor. Someone can be gay and still be an Icon inside of Hollywood. Unfortunately Timothee is either straight and has worse taste in women than Armie does, or he's queer and never is gonna come out nor validate any same sex relationship bc he values money and clout more than people and their feelings.
Hope yall the best to keep rooting for the non existent relationship between gold digger timmy and trauma survivor armie and also the best to keep supporting him after he becomes a permanent feature in KUWTK. I'm fucking done with charmie, with him and with a this bullshit.
I haven't said any of this or I am pushing charmie or not charmie situation or belief. Any of us has its own brain. I OBSERVE and I publish almost all the asks that I receveid leaving out the dnp asks or the offensive asks. Dude anon is dear to me and so I always gladly publish him ❤
These videos don't diminish the love I have for him or Armie when the photos of Portofino came out either if they are together or not sorry if you can't endure this

Have you watched the Aquaman movie? How much of Mera’s scenes were cut do you think, also I heard people were jeering at the screen whenever Amber’s face popped up. All this bs but you know they’ll be lining up for the next Kevin Spacey movie 🙄
I haven't seen it, but from what I've heard, Mera gets injured in a fight scene pretty early on and she's out of commission for most of the movie. And according to what I've read, the movie really suffers as a result. In the first one, it's pretty clear Heard's a far stronger actor than Momoa (she was SO GOOD in Gully and The Stand), and she was able to carry him in their scenes, and he kinda flounders without her to work with. I think I'm going to wait until it's available on streaming and watch it then, I don't think I can stomach being in a room full of d*pp supporters jeering her :(
But I do know that Amber herself said she was really proud to play Mera and she fought to stay in the franchise, so I think if you want to support her you should watch it, as well as In the Fire. And for what it's worth, Dolph Lundgren spoke up for her during the trial. I've also noticed that while she did unfollow Momoa and Wan, she still follows Yahya Abdul Mateen (who has a bigger role in the sequel), who was leaving nice comments on her insta before the trial, so I'm inclined to think that he at least treated her kindly behind the scenes.
My hope is that she gets roles in Spanish cinema and her career rebounds overseas.

Have you sorted the Hogwarts Legacy companions at all?? I checked your master list and couldn’t find anything but I’m not sure if I’m just being blind 💀😂
So here's the thing.
(And your ask is super nice and in absolute good-faith, it's just also a good way of getting into this stuff.)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is not Joss Whedon. House of Cards is not Kevin Spacey. But Harry Potter kinda is JK Rowling. She has an astounding and honestly pretty unique amount of both creative control and ownership over that property. The only other person I can think of who's even in the same category is George Lucas... before he sold it to Disney, obviously.
And JKR has written about how she interprets the royalty checks she gets as kind of tacit approval from the world, which makes sense because she's been also very public about how she spends those royalty checks to support anti-trans campaigners and legislation.
But. But. I get wanting to engage with the property. I mean, obviously. I'm going to tag this 'sortinghatchats.' The parent system is clearly HP, and the point of changing the terminology was never disguising that, it was more supposed to communicate that I am not engaging with the work or its creator uncritically. I think it's worked pretty well. I've gotten maybe one piece of anon hate calling me a terf? That's not bad.
I'm a teacher, and the place I work attracts a *lot* of LGBT students. Trans and non-binary especially. And they're interested in Harry Potter. They read a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction. They want to talk to me about Harry Potter, and about JK Rowling. I don't see this property fading away any time soon.
And like. I was a fan. I waited until midnight in a bookstore to get books 4, 5, 6 and 7. My Sibyl Trelawney came in second at the book 7 costume contest. Which was fine because the girl who won did the most perfect Hermione you've ever seen, and spent the whole time handing out SPEW badges and knitting house elf clothing.
Recently, I'm finding myself wanting to unpack this property as an adult. Maybe understand some of the biases I didn't pick up as a kid, maybe do right by some of my favorite characters. Because there's good stuff in there. How much was on accident versus on purpose, how much is the fandom interpreting the text in a specific way, how much is the films smoothing over issues... and creating different issues... I would like to work all that out.
And actually, when I started writing some Harry Potter fanfiction over the holidays, it came pouring out, and it felt *good.* Clearly I've got a lot of *stuff* that I want to examine and *put somewhere,* and for me, writing (ships that JKR doesn't like) was a fun and ethical way to do that. Maybe I'll even post it with a nice disclaimer.
So that's me. Fanfiction, fan side-projects, fan merch. I guess the argument against that would be "free advertising," but like - HP has so much just - actual advertising - and I'd like it if people who still wanted to engage with the property had somewhere else to go. So no Hogwarts Legacy for me, no Fantastic Beasts films, or HBO miniseries, or even Cormoran Strike books. (and people don't talk about this enough - but a big aspect of that series is essentially JKR writing a non-magic AU where she ships herself with Mad-Eye Moody. I have no idea what to do with this information, but now you have it too.)
I could see myself writing more about JKR or Harry Potter, once I've turned it over more in my mind and feel like I have something useful and new to say. But as it is, this is a snapshot of where I am.
