Y’all are aware we probably have to keep it in the top 10 overall into at least the 19th right? One business day after initial intended marketed advertised release supposedly. Then we should be good unless Mark says otherwise.

Hey, folks! Prolific independent production company Cotton Candy Flavor Media, LLC. is currently working on its first ever animated film! It’s called “Get Yeast To It”, and it’s a surreal existential dark comedy about a version of the afterlife where humans are judged by cells of yeast based on whether or not they ever ate bread. We’re currently running a crowdfunding campaign for the project so that we can raise the money we need to achieve our yeasty dreams, which is no small feat for indie artists in the midst of this truly shitty time for the animation industry as a whole. If you all could like, share, and donate to the campaign at the link below, it would go a long way in helping us plucky creators succeed— and you could have the opportunity to receive an unpackaged potato in the mail, which we know is really tempting for a lot of you. Thanks, everybody, and let’s get bread-y to rumbleeeeeeee!!

I am so unreasonably angry at that book anon. Honestly, I think it's the double standard. People can be on here blogging all day about the new blockbuster movie and buying Marvel merch or whatever, and it's just good fun, but this is the second time that I got anon hate for... saying that I liked a book written by a small queer author??
Like, you can't have it both ways. You want marginalized creators to have a voice in our culture, you need to uplift their work if they say something you think is worth hearing. And it's not even as if the books in question were high literature or anything. In fact, they are rather trashy. But one is a series that has a lesbian gain superpowers through her gender reassignment surgery (Transistor, Heart of Heroes #2) and the other has got an intersex spaceship captain in a gay marriage (The Repossessed, Heinlein's Finches #4), which at least is different. It's interesting.
But God forbid I actually suggest that you buy either of these books! Or that the author in question a) publish their book on Amazon (despite it paying better and them probably not having too much energy to deal with multiple different platforms, with them being an indie author who does not make a living from their books), or b) promote their ongoing sale on their own Tumblr blog (where else would they promote it?? Also, for the record, that sale was not on Amazon).
Like, what are you even suggesting as an alternative?? These books are not going to be sold in a bookshop. The only way for those poor people to get their work read it by a) promoting it on social media, or b) people suggesting it to each other. Which is what I'm doing. If you want free art, there is more than enough out there. Fanworks are free, short films on YouTube are free, old works that have fallen into the Public Domain are free, heck, you can find a lot of old works on YouTube or the Internet Archive that simply nobody cares about enough to take them down even though they are copyrighted. You don't have to look at the books I'm blogging about! Also, the post that sparked all this? Was the author of The Repossessed giving their book away for free on Kindle for a limited time.... If you are so strongly against paying authors, the book was literally free.
Just, eurgh.

when i see people going around complaining about the media they consume 9 times out of 10 i’m thinking “please please get into more independently produced work” esp when it’s things like mass media trends or corporate interests or things that seem like they’re made for sanitized mainstream interests like yes those are all annoying but yk what has less of those… yk what has the marginalized focus and the earnestness and the experimentation that you say you want… that’s right. it’s art made by random nobodies

Wanna see an indie film I’m in? Dependent’s Day is a romcom about her taking him as a dependent on her taxes and hilarity ensuing.
It’s on Amazon, free if you’ve got Amazon Prime (in the US) and waiting for you to watch it: https://bit.ly/primedd
