Near by, Megumi was panting holding her two pistols that was just shot after killing some random hunters. She was coated in blood as well with her eyes glowing with fangs exposed. As she was catching her breath, she blinks hearing two familiar shouts.

"H..Huh?" That's when she yelps being hugged tightly. "?!? V..Venom? S..Sloane? What a..are you two doing h..here?" she said concerned to see them worried and more when seeing the blood.

"A...and why is your mouth coated in blood? D..did something happen? Did you get hurt!?" she asked worried even if she was also wounded herself seeing the blood and a wound that was ignored.

Kitten: Theory of a "Hunter"

Spoilers for Hunter The Parenting

So Kitten. He is our happy lil Br*tish hunter. He also is always wearing ski goggles, a sweater, and full face covering. Even in the one flashback image we have of him. As always we must acknowledge the DNA this series pulls from: Kitten was the Captain General in TTS, this is why he uses a spear with a gun and a stake at the end in HTP, it's a guardian spear by way of hunter. It was a running gag in TTS that his helmet was never removed, even all of his other garments were. Side tangent, 1. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING 2. I hope desperately Lockwarden and Santodes return in HTP, because both of those characters were immaculate and we didn't get enough of them. Side tangent complete.

TTS acknowledgement aside, let us consider what Kitten might be. In the audiolog between Kitten and Big D, kitten seems to question the existence of some supernatural creatures, like the witch. Yet two of them he is unphased by them being mentioned: The vampires, which makes sense as the family is hunting vamps and Kitten has fought a vamp (important later). And the werewolves. This is the sticking point to me: Kitten not only is unphased about the existence of werewolves, he in fact says "wait hang on you know about werewolves" to Big D. Now that's a might curious, why wouldn't Big D, master-hunter and well known supernaturalist know about werewolves, and even more so, why would Kitten know and Big D not?

My theory is that Kitten IS a were creature. But not a wolf. In World of Darkness there are a few species of shapechangers like the werewolves. The wolves are the most common, but the other kinds know of each other's existence as well. I propose that Kitten is a werecat. Not only this, I suspect Kitten is a specific kind of werecat, a metis (can someone who knows more about WoD tell me is this is pronounced Met-iss, a made up word, or May-tea, a real word for a real world group of people who this does not necessarily apply to). A metis (in world of darkness, not the real world ethno-cultural group) is a shapechanger born to two shapechanger parents. When they are born they come out in their warform, the half-human-half-animal "hollywood monster" form. These shapechangers often have malformations of some variety, and this can include very obvious animal features even in human form. Say for example, cat ears and fur. I think Kitten wears his ski stuff, and has ears on his hood because he is a lil catboy under that hood. As a werecat he would be familiar with the shapechanger culture and practices, he'd know about other shapechangers (notice in the black shuck story at one point he says "and it is [black shuck]" not "and it PROBABLY is", maybe because he actually knows who black shuck is?), and he'd be supernaturally strong. Perhaps even strong enough to overcome a vampire that just fed. Kitten describes his encounter with the vamp at college, with maybe a Ventrue or Torreador vamp (I think Ventrue because he was charismatic but had a need for a violent feeding), while these clans aren't the normal muscle for the vamps, they are stronger than humans. Yet Kitten managed to beat this vampire, even though he was hopped up on blood. I think our lil cat boy was using his own supernatural strength. Another thing mentioned around this story is the tragedy that befell Kitten's parents, which left him with the house. If they are shapechangers, there is the potential that Kitten killed them during his first change, a not uncommon occurence in Garou families. There's also the possibility that his parents were killed in the war that all Garou are fighting, or because they broke the litany (werewolf mascarade) by having a metis child.

Now. Problems. Both Grimal and Markus have cannonically "broken that boy". Now is Kitten a "sorry babe, the ski mask stays ON during sex" type gamer? Or do Grimal and Markus both know? Not sure! Grimal could probably be convinced he was just REALLY into cosplay, I bet. And Markus may have known about Kitten being a cat from their childhood, depending when they first met.

But! This lets me talk more about garou society as evidence for Kitten being a cat. In shapechanger society, a metis is often hidden from the public until they can control their form, so as to not give the game away on werewolves being real. Maybe Kitten was isolated as a child, making it harder for him to interact with other kids when he did eventually get his form *more* under control. Maybe in the time before he was allowed in public, he became a true gamer. Maybe Markus was one of the few kids weird enough to hang out with him. Maybe those lack of social skills brought him closer to Grimal when they first met, two strange weirdos with similar experiences (please Alfabusa don't make Grimal the ghoul, I don't want her to get Arcanum'd)

Also! The werecats have some characteristics in their culture that might explain why our lil cat friend isn't just vibing with the other werecats. Some of the Bastet (Bastet means werecat, Keikaku means plan) are VERY curious lil fellas. They seek out hidden knowledge and talk to other garou clans to learn their secrets all the time. Maybe Kitten became a hunter because of his in-built desire to be a gatherer of lore. This would also explain how he knows all these stories, and finds secrets in games. He just HAS to know these things. This would further explain why he is SO upset about being blacklisted, he wants desperately to be able to study and learn, but has been cut off.

In brief, I believe Kitten is a werecat and his lil sweater ears are not just a fetish thing. He joined the arcanum/our hunters because it's a great way to sate his innate curiosity.

Now something to consider, as many of us know, curiosity does have a certain reputation regarding cats...

You’ve grown up with the Winchester family. John and Mary Winchester were always the parents you never knew. You’ve been raised most of your life by your grandmother after your parents died from a fatal car accident when you were only three in a half years old. Since then, you lived with your grandma. After she passed away and left you her cabin in one of the more rural areas of Wichita, you did ok making it through life alongside the Winchester brothers, Dean and Sam.

After the incident with the yellow eyed demon that claimed Mary’s life, spinning John into a dimension of vengeance and mania, he dragged Dean, Sam, and eventually you all around the United States hunting for the entity that murdered his wife. Sam having only been an infant when this happened didn’t know his mother as well as you and Dean did. You remember Mary fondly, and respected John without question.

You shared a special bond with Dean and Sam’s parents because they were fully aware that you came from a long blood line of witches. The Winchester boys, however, did not know. Due to Mary’s family being a family of ‘Hunters’ of the supernatural, she befriended your grandmother and several witch covens also building a rapport with the hunting community. Your grandma often counseled hunters and helped prevent many deaths amongst them while searching for paranormal threats. 

Your grandmother having been a Priestess of an ancient coven since early adulthood, she educated you on the most sophisticated crafts while she was alive. After Mary was killed by the demon, John saw you to be a valuable resource, and brought you along for the hunt of the creature along with Sam and Dean as he desperately sought to avenge Mary.

As the years passed, the three of you growing into young adults, Sam went off to college not before getting into a heated argument with his father, John, about leaving the ‘family business.’ You and Dean, on the other hand, remained at John’s side until one day, John went on a hunt alone, and didn’t return. Against your better counsel, Dean traveled to Stanford University to rope Sam back into the hunting game to help find their dad. Sam refused to help at first, until his steady girlfriend, Jessica, met the same demise as his mother, Mary, filling Sam with that familiar rage as his father. Sam decided to leave school to search for his father with you and Dean, and from there, the rest is history.

The three of you having bested the Croatoan Virus, hellhounds, the super demon Lilith, The Apocalypse, The Four Horsemen, The Archangel revolt, vampires, wicked witches, Leviathans, zombies, demon possessions, hexes, curses, and evil spirits. Not to mention each of you dying and making deals with demons about a hundred times between the three of you.

After about a collective twenty-four years of hunting shenanigans with the Winchesters, their family friend and veteran hunter, Bobby Singer, let it slip you were a witch to Sam and Dean. Not too long after John Winchester’s untimely death in 2006.

“What did you just say?” Dean dared Bobby to repeat.

Bobby rolled his eyes at Dean. “Look, don’t get your panties all in a twist, Dean. Your father brought Y/N along on hunts because he knew she could help. He figured it would be best you two didn’t know because you were little tots together and didn’t want to spoil that bond.” Bobby explained.

“Yeah, well a lot of good that did.” Dean shot back.

“Dean,” Sam spoke up, “maybe dad had a good reason- “

“Oh, now you want to defend dad’s life choices? When all you ever did was question and resent the man?” Dean interrupted.

Sam continued, “All I’m saying, Dean, is that mom had her reasons keeping it a secret, so dad was just honoring her choice.”

Dean scoffed sarcastically.

You walked back into the room after unloading the Impala. They all turned to face you. You stopped in your tracks awkwardly.

“Um, everything ok, guys?” You asked.

“Yeah, everything except that you’re the ‘Wicked Witch of the West.’” Dean barked.

You hung your head with a sigh of defeat. Sam rolled his eyes and looked at Dean with his teeth clenched.

“Dean…” Bobby scolded harshly.

“What, Bobby? Am I just supposed to pretend like she didn’t lie to us this whole time? That she had every opportunity to tell us the truth and decided not to?” Dean went on not taking his resentful stare off you.

Dean never felt a deeper sense of betrayal. It was already difficult for him to trust anyone, let alone having trust someone who was a close and dear friend to the Winchester family.

Was he and Sam not approachable? Hell, even Bobby knew. Why wouldn’t dad tell them about what you really were?

Dean had so many questions swirling in his head.

“Dean?” Sam broke the silence in the room.

Dean shook his head and looked at his little brother.

“I need a drink. I need drinks.” Dean finally responded, stomping out the front door of Bobby’s house.

You finally look up at Sam. He met your gaze with an apologetic expression.

“Sam…I’m sorry.” You whispered.

Sam tilted his head at you compassionately, at a complete loss for words, then walked out of the room after his brother not before placing a comforting squeeze on your shoulder as he passed you.

You sighed loudly massaging your eyelids with your fingers attempting to tame the headache this soap opera just created.

Bobby walked over to you and pat you on the back.

“Don’t you worry about Dean, Y/N. He’s thrown his fits with Sam for lesser things. He’ll get over it.” He assured.

“I don’t know, Bobby. For Dean to find out he was deceived into working with someone who is the exact thing he hunts? He’s really big on trust and of course he’s going to forgive Sam. I’m not his brother, Bobby.” You argued.

Bobby shook his head smirking, “Trust me, he’ll get past this. You may not be his brother, but you sure as hell are an object of his affection.” He hinted.

You snapped a look of confusion at him. “Excuse me?” You managed to ask.

Bobby chuckled at you.

“Just give the man his time to process what he just found out. He’ll come around.” He reassured.

You raise an eyebrow at him, skeptical at his vagueness, but nodded anyway. Bobby never steered you wrong, so you trust his sentiments on the Winchester brothers.

If supernatural as well, Thatch is a werewolf and Izou... Perhaps a witch?

Anyway, point is that they absolutely expect Seductress Of The Night when they run into her house to take shelter in a storm. They know the rumors, even if they don't believe it. Mostly because of the lack of dead bodies in the nearby area.

Turns out, she just got diagnosed with anemia and gets infusions monthly. It would be hilarious if she didn't even realize she was a vampire, her doctor covering it up as part of a blind study to see if vampires NEED to feed traditionally or if other solutions would work fine. Maybe as an attempt to drag vampires into the modern day life. Or she's like, half, so she's only a bit sensitive to the sun and some things like garlic. And she's unaware of the half status, having been raised nocturnal all her life.

So she's just a very poorly socialized weirdo living in a very nice house in the middle of nowhere convinced she's simply a night owl.

For the hunter version, they don't want to burst that bubble cause then they'd be obligated to take her out. Supernatural they're toeing around it trying to figure out how to tell her that the supernatural even exists to begin with. And they've got a deadline cause Thatch can't hide his transformations for shit. Why would that be a problem?

Eh, maybe they've been asked to bodyguard her as she's a key part of research to rehabilitate vampires and lessen symptoms that cause them to not integrate well in society. Not many half vampires running around perfectly willing to be medical studies for their 'anemia'. In the hunter version, it's accident and they're suddenly very interested in making sure no one else kills her either since it would mean they would no longer have kill on sight orders for vampires.

Idk, there's a lot of fun to be had with this one.

Hunting was in her blood. Hunting to keep others safe was in her blood. However, she always felt it was like a heavy burden given she was both blessed and cursed. Megumi Hayashi was focused on finding another hidden threat within town but giving her situation, she was trying to pinpoint her next move.

True, Aki finished the mission and completed it with no issue. But their was the problem of one thing that makes her act with struggle;

Blood.

She was trying to find a way to do better with her bloodlust. Her other self that desires the need for consuming fresh blood. However, she didn't want to harm anyone for that. From that it just results in her either switching from reality to her own sub conscious. As her other self 'feeds' in order to keep that hunger down.

She was trying to keep herself hidden due to the many watchful eyes lingering in town. Her hands gripping against the cloak around her body, the hood hiding her head.

Aki felt..distracted. Or maybe it's due to her trying to regain her focus. It was hard to do that because of the heavy smell of copper burning her nose yet she's used to it.

'Just finish the mission and leave. That's all I had to do and yet I drained the target dry. I don't know if I'll be safe to even continue around here given so people might notice it.'

She did look at her fingers seeing the dark spots from the target's blood but Megumi shook her head to continue along. She had to get out of this town before someone finds her.

Simon gathered all of his materials for the meeting, taking care to make sure that he forgot nothing before leaving his home. A book of notes and various other things, he went through the list in his head. He had heard rumors of a curious creature, a humanoid consumer of the Blood wandering the streets , and the scholar knew he had to act quickly before they left the town altogether.

Yes, he would have to brave the roads during the Hunt, but he had faith in his abilities with a dagger to get to the location in one piece.

Satisfied, he grabbed his things and went out onto the street. Wandering for some time through the dim and lamp-lit alleyways, Simon eventually came upon a small figure.

Was this the one? Surely this couldn’t be right…

From the shadows he watched them, staying silent in his curiosity.

He killed everyone who was part of it and then adopted her, defecting from the Calaveras and started his own hunting organization. MY DARLING GIRL WILL SOON RETURN FOR SEASON 2!!!!! Once again keep your eyes on @sagasofthesunlessreach for those details but please enjoy the rebroadcast of S1 for her introduction 8') 

Um so yeah I love her a lot! And at the top, a huge shout-outs to Zach for inviting me to play in the campaign even though I was (and still am) the pathfinder baby of the group, and being patient as I fumbled through learning how to play on stream. Not nerve-wracking at all. 

Elżbieta is an Investigator that I gave the "Bounty Hunter" background to in order to flavor it as she was sort of like a Witcher, someone who hunted supernatural creatures because no one else would (or could). You know what they say about a vampire, right? Its greatest enemy is a dhampir! Aka a half-vampire. 

(Not-spoiler alert, Elżbieta is a dhampir). (Worst kept secret, but it's one of those things where all the players were in on it so it was hard to make it feel like a secret, you know?) 

Her father is a bum-ass vampire who has gone and fucked off (her words)! She doesn't know where he is! Her mom sure as hell isn't telling her! So she's using her monster-hunting background and investigative know-how to hunt him down. Does she find any clues about him? Well, I'm going to have to suggest you listen to find out ;) 

For her physical appearance, I had just finished watching Netflix's Shadow & Bone and Daisy Head as Genya was just BIGGEST INSPO. In a lot of Slavic folk-culture (and beyond, tbh, but I was pulling from a lot of Slav culture), red-hair is indicative of demonic lineage and they were considered witches or devils etc. And she's got flame-red hair, which she would try to keep as inconspicuous as possible, hiding it beneath a broad-brimmed hat. Pair that with a paler than usual (for a land with no natural sunlight) skin, and, well, she has perfectly normal teeth and blood why do you keep staring at her like that? 

Mechanically, the first time I built her in 2021 it was before both the guns and gears and the book of the dead contents were released for Pathfinder, so I relied some on 'ghost hunter' dedication and haunt lore, which didn't quite fit the setting (it was useful Once), and had her start to take feats from rogue dedication at the end. But since it's an in-universe year between the two campaigns and I have these two new books to play with, I'm able to instead give her the "undead slayer" dedication which is MUCH more her speed for flavor and give her gunslinger dedication at later level! Which is specifically that she bothers Sorren to teach her how to use guns better because she picked up a musket in session 1 of the campaign and tbh didn't go back (Elżbieta voice "is this how you flirt????"). I think I used the nightstick once? I super wanted her to have a firearm but didn't know it could be a thing (and it was a roughshod thing at that) but now! Officially able to use gunslinger abilities. 

She came into this campaign as a "lone wolf" of sorts because well, she's a dhampir and doesn't trust like that. She wanted to find her dad and kick his ass. But now things have shifted slightly and she's looking to take down the bad guy with the power of friendship and this gun she found. But more seriously, she's interested in creating a space for half-bloods like her (or just generally non-humans in similar circumstances). And if that involves taking down the bad guy then so be it. They're the ones that are helping perpetuate the stigma against people like her! 

Her glow-up for S2 is going to be no hat and wearing her hair in a ponytail. Look at her go, not being afraid her defining features anymore!

Also a tidbit headcanon but mostly reminder that Clark is prickly by default. he starts prickly and just gets WORSE if you're someone he thinks deserves the negativity.

HOWEVER, he will by default be softer with service workers. Teachers, paramedics. People he can clearly tell have good intentions or otherwise put up with lots of shit. Law enforcement and hunters are treated like tools, objects for him to use when he wants to take a more 'clean' or off hands approach to getting someone or something off the streets. And I won't lie when I say he kind of enjoys when either of the sort frantically try and track him through his convoluted crime trail.

There are certain supernatural creatures he's softer with by default: shifters, demigods, nephil, witches & warlocks, anything that shares that half & half aesthetic with him. He's more prickly than default with some as well: vampires, demons, other cambion, angels. Ghosts he finds vexing if only because he's impatient and often times they're very fractured beings.

Sci-fi wise he's soft with androids, replicants, clones, etc. Like VERY soft.

humans, vampire, witches alike, any waking creature who couldn't escape themselves became crushed under the weight as the day unfolded. as sun came to rest bodies began to pile up. so many unable to carry the burden of their very worst deeds and the failure to confront them.

it would have been a success if half the bodies hadn't been human ones.

the goal had been replication of a powerful curse designed by one of the very most powerful witches of all time....but regular witches wielded nothing even close to her substantial skill. not to mention, a conduit was needed. the original curse had used brotherhood of the five members, haunting their killer until their own success came about in the form of tooth for a tooth. lacking such thing, this version of the spell had rested on the individual's mind ---- but one's own mind didn't share that same vendetta as a hunter out for retribution....and for those who lacked guilt? who lacked doubt? who lacked remorse? a display of past failures didn't break them. for many, it incited wrath more then anything else.

among the weakest of minds were human minds. once the curse itself had been perfected it latched onto all in it's proximity, the choice of selection no longer an option. so many humans didn't harbor that oh-so-helpful grey morality that governed the supernatural, and were burdened with guilt for so much as stepping on ant. needless to say, many minds couldn't take the potent reminder of suffering they incurred...

the rate of death in a single day was expediential.

any success was far outweighed by loss, and thus, the initiative's experiment came to an end.

To clear up some confusion surrounding Vergil and his family...

Vergil Reignhart - A dhampir that is 102 years old, he’s Cameron’s nephew. A hunter, a very damn good at his job, for someone who is half vampire he’s tangled with all kinds of supernatural threats, his half vampire nature has seen him tangle with the likes of wendigos and other dangerous creatures. He’s a bit of a broody shoot first ask later, who has a decent circle of friends but still throws up walls faster than you can break them down, he’s not as bad as he used to be but he’s not an open book, you really have to make an effort to get that to happen. 

Cameron Reignhart - Vergil’s uncle and has a two centuries and some change on his nephew. He’s a hunter, it’s in the family, he became a vampire shortly before his 30th birthday, he’s an old soul, despite finally getting use to the modern world, he still has a lot of personality from the Victorian Era from which he thrived, he’s bit of a flirt as well, and somewhat dimwitted about modern day things like computers. He has access to a Daylight Ring [yes I borrowed the concept from Vampire Diaries but it’s not as common a thing as it is in that universe]. He has a daughter who is half vampire half human who is going on three years old. Honestly he could literally charm his way out of MOST situations. 

Raven Sullivan - Vergil’s daughter, it’s complicated with her. Her father is half vampire, and her mother is a full blooded witch. When Raven was born she had traces of human, vampire and witch in her blood, but her mother’s prejudice nature against vampires made her use very dark magic to remove every trace of vampire from her daughter, leaving her just half human and half witch, which actually made her more proficient and powerful in magic, but its speculated that not every trace of vampire blood was eradicated from her DNA. Raven harbors a bit of both her parent’s personalities, she’s strong willed and stubborn like her father, and has the ‘don’t try me bitch’ mentality from her mother, despite this she has a very kind heart but very little patience for stupidity and childish antics.

I was thinking about that one ancestor of Danny who was a witch hunter or something, and I read a couple fanfincs where the Fenton family has a legacy of being supernatural hunters of any sort.

So I thought what if certain Fentons through the family history (maybe skipping some generations, maybe more than one in other generations) became ghosts with powers based on the area of paranormal hunting they were obsessed with after they died, and their attachment to their heritage made them able to find each other and form a closely knitted group that celebrated the passions they were ridiculed for in life and ruthlessly protected their ghostly territory from challengers and invaders together.

But unfortunately, their prejudices from life carried on to their afterlife despite them being ghosts themselves (like how alternate-timeline-Jack was half ghost but also hated ghosts), so they prefer to stay in their territory, and it's very difficult to get in their good graces.

Some headcannons i like to think about them:

John Fentonightingale (the witch hunter) is one of them and Undergrowth has beef with him (he despises John's affinity to successfully grow the very rare and dangerous to ghosts blood blossoms as a ghost himself, a painstakingly delicate skill he had thought only he himself posessed in the whole Ghost Zone, and John loves telling him to cry about it).

One of them was a vampire hunter who got bitten and turned, and spent the rest of their life (unlife?) using their vampire powers to keep fighting until their death while taking down a vampire big shot. The fact they were able to not lose themself to the bloodthirst and bloodlust made them able to come back as a ghost (they held on to their soul or something). They and Danny may bond over the struggles of being turned into the very type of creature they vowed to protect people from, but they may have trouble with Danny being so social with other ghosts that aren't family.

Skulker has heard of them and thinks facing them would be a huge test of strenght as the greatest hunter in the Ghost Zone that he is. If he ever got the whelp's pelt, challenging them would be next on his bucketlist.

There may be more than one member with a specific paranormal focus.

When they hear of the Pariah Dark ordeal, they decide to go check his keep to see if they should move their lairs/island/territory nearby to personally guard it from more fools seeking power they don't understand, and end up learning of the whole interdimensional mess going on in this side of the Ghost Zone.

I like to think that once they learn of Phantom's relation to them, he would just be baby in their eyes. The fact that he might be the youngest Fenton they've seen in who knows how long individually would just be the cherry on top. Danny would love the extra help and having adult relatives complimenting him as a ghost, but it might end up with them wanting to take over his battles with more violence towards the ghosts than Danny might be okay with.

The Fenton ghost hunters

They can often (very often) appear like goofy enthusiasts who shouldn't have access to the firepower they have, but be mindful of first impressions, because the Fentons are far more capable, versatile and fearsome fighters and hunters than their personalities may suggest. In fact, they are quite feared among ghosts from even the farthest parts of the Ghost Zone (they won't admit it to them though)

Luckily they haven't shown much interest in personally exploring the Zone, and the ghosts that inhabit the areas surrounding the Fenton ghost portal are especially thankful for that.

After all, they already get enough grief from their still living members in the human world, and that goes ten-fold for their half living member.

At least if the halfa ever were to learn about them, they can make him think it's best to never meet them for his own halfa sake. And hey, it might even be true! those guys are crazy from what the legends say...

But if they ever caught word that not only is there a stable artificial portal that the ghosts from this region use to terrorize humanity, but that their own descendants created it and it turned the youngest of their kin into a half human/ half ghost imposibility and the main line of defense from ghostly attacks...

No one can be sure what they'do, but it would potentially be ugly for all ghosts involved, so everyone -foe, ally and neutral to Phantom- agrees on never letting either party know of the other. The allies regret this secrecy, but they cannot risk the fearsome Fenton Clan directing their aims at them if they're as trigger-happy as it is told.

Problem is... the whole Pariah Dark deal, from the fact someone was stupid enough to awake him to this "halfa" creature being involved in his defeat, has no way of not reaching them eventually...

“I want to watch a monster-hunting show led by a powerful woman!”

Wynonna Earp (SyFy): two sisters, one a wise-cracking but badass hunter of the undead and the other a more serious but sweeter girl with mysterious monster origins, are reunited after years apart. Basically, it’s Supernatural but funnier (and gayer!)

Van Helsing (SyFy): a re-imagining of the vampire hunting icon that follows his descendant Vanessa Helsing, 

Warrior Nun (Netflix): A girl comes back from the dead and learns she’s part of a secret order of demon-hunting nuns. 

Lost Girl (SyFy): Bisexual succubus Bo and her human best friend Kenzi become private investigators of the world of the “fae”, supernatural beings that range from fairies to wolves to sirens and succubi like Bo.

“I want to watch a show about Asian characters in the world of fantasy and monsters!”

Okay well, first off, I also cannot begin to tell you about how many amazing non-American supernatural shows are out there if you’re willing to read subtitles. A couple of my personal favorites are Black (a Korean horror/fantasy/mystery show about reapers and a woman who can see when people will die, Netflix) and All of Us Are Dead (a new action-fantasy drama about high schoolers battling a zombie invasion, Netflix) and I would love to hear people rec their faves, too! A few that don’t need subtitles though…

Shadow & Bone (Netflix): A well-received adaptation of the high fantasy book series, with a diverse writing staff and cast including half-Chinese Jessie Mei Lei as the lead. Fan-favorite characters from the sequels such as Inej and Jesper (a South Asian woman and a mixed-race bisexual man respectively) also got integrated into the series early and become prevalent characters in the books’ spinoffs.

Marvel’s Runaways (Hulu): a darker, teen superhero show with the found family themes you always wanted from their movies. Its highlight is easily Nico Minoru, a Japanese-American and queer sorceress who learns her and her friends' parents are part of a super-villain organization

Wu Assassins (Netflix): a Chinese-Indonesian man in San Francisco discovers he has magical origins and has to fight to keep his family’s power out of the wrong hands

Teen Wolf (MTV/Amazon Prime): While only part of the cast for Season 3-5, the show’s introduction of Japanese-Korean Kitsune Kira Yukimara and her mysterious family led to the shows’ most well-received storyline and arc. She teams up with troubled teen werewolf Scott McCall and his pack to fight an evil creature tormenting the town.

And of course Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel Legend of Korra (Nickelodeon/Amazin Prime): AMAZING animated shows with all-Asian characters and original fantasy world inspired by multiple East Asian and South Asian countries. They may be kids’ shows but they deal with a lot of heavy and mature themes that make it enjoyable for any age. 

“I want to watch a genre show with a Latino lead (bonus points if queer!)”

What We Do in the Shadows (FX/Hulu): a horror-comedy TV spinoff of Taika Waiti’s iconic and hilarious vampire mockumentary film, with racially diverse writers and cast and basically all LGBT lead characters. The true heart of the show is the queer, Mesztizo and Mexican human character Guillermo (whose identity isn’t hypersexualized like some of the vampires characters’ more fluid bisexuality/pansexuality are)

The Owl House (Disney): yes, another animated kids’ show, but I cannot recommend this fantasy series enough especially to any former "Harry Potter" fans. It’s led by a teenage, Latina human who discovers witches and a secret world of magic and is eager to learn so she can be a part of it. Luz is also bisexual, and her relationship with another young witch has been one of the most talked about storylines of the show.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (Showtime): a horror-drama spinoff of Penny Dreadful set in Los Angeles in the 1930s that tackles both Mexican-American tensions and folklore with characters connected in a conflict between the angel Santa Muerte and demoness Magda.

Roswell, New Mexico (The CW/Netflix): While I’m hesitant to recommend any CW show, this remake of the 90’s sci-fi drama/romance (which infamously whitewashed characters from the books) ingrains diversity into the cast and plot, with the Mexican-American lead’s immigrant family dealing with real-life racial tension in New Mexico in addition to the show’s original storyline of immigrant aliens adjusting from life on a whole other planet.

A/n: this fic's based off a Twitter post I saw lol. also most of my future monster hunter au fics are probably not gonna be connected and be standalones. Yes they're probably gonna have Steddie + Ronance centered around most of (if not all!) The fics. The most I might have them connected is if I make a pt 2 to one of them.

It was quiet night in the woods. Around 3:00 am. Witching hour is what some would call it, but for Robin and Eddie it was the perfect time to walk in the woods.

Robin stretched as she looked over to Eddie "so how's it going with Steve?" He shrugged "well there's some slight progress. One time I called him "big boy" and man you should've seen his face, all flustered. Took him a back I say. How's things going with Nance? You made a first move yet?" Robin sighed. "Not really. I mean Christ sake Eds I have a crush on THE monster hunter"

"how'd the hell that happen?"

"well it's kind of a long story. Me and Vickie were at band practice and our teacher needed to get something from somewhere so he asked me to do it so I went to where I was supposed to and then bam! The most prettiest girl I'd ever seen right there in the newspaper room. Who so happens to be the person trying to find me"

"wow" Eddie scoffed. "You are fucked"

"Exactly! If she knew I was the thing she was hunting I'd be dead fucking meat"

Nancy had been hunting a certain werewolf for months now. She had been called in for a complaint of a wolf like creature terrorizing Hawkins. When in reality Robin just accidentally slammed into someone's car while it was a full moon. She didn't know how it happened.

Maybe she tripped on her tail, she was prone to doing that. Though maybe it was because she was more clumsy on a full moon in general. She didn't really know, half the time she couldn't remember what the hell happened when she turned.

"So how's it with Jason? Has he found out you're the big mean scary serial killing vampire that's terrorizing Hawkins? Because y'know playing a board game with a bunch of high schoolers is just what's gonna kill us all" Eddie snorted "okay smart ass look who's talking, Hawkins thinks a giant dog is what's terrorizing it's citizens. But other than his usual name calling I don't think he suspects anything"

"he's stupid for that one. Calls you a freak but doesn't suspect a thing"

"Exactly, and I'M supposedly the dumbass"

"I mean c'mon Eds what it's your 2nd? 3rd? Year at Hawkins?"

"listen, geometry is really fucking hard. I hope whoever invented it is burning in the 7th ring of hell as we speak" Robin hummed in agreement.

People and monster hunters alike stereotyped Eddie and Robin to be sworn enemies due to the myth of vampires and werewolves constantly at each others throats. It was called a myth for reason. Robin didn't know what it be like without Eddie. Just like she didn't know where she'd be without Steve.

Steve

It'd been a while since Robin had told him she was a lesbian and he immediately accepted her. She wondered what he'd do if he knew she was...her. if he found out that she was the supposed creature of the night destroying Hawkins and hurting innocent people. That's what the paper said at least. She'd barely hurt a fly. Ok well that was a lie Robin hated bugs but it's a metaphor alright?

Would he treat her the same way he'd treated her when she first came out to him? She doubted it. Being a lesbian and being a werewolf were two completely different things. She could already imagine him with shock and fear in his eyes, grabbing some kind of weapon to defend himself, Screaming at her to get away from him-

Robin closed her eyes. Trying to shake the horrifying vision of the possible truth if Steve found out. "You okay?" Eddie questioned. She shook her head "yeah, yeah everything. Everything's fine" he knew she was lying and probably worried about something. But he didn't push it, not wanting to upset her more than she already seemed to be.

Snap!

Eddie and Robin became alert at the sound of a twig snapping in half. "Did you here that?" Robin asked. "Uh yeah I heard it. Maybe it's max-"

"max wouldn't be out here this late at night. She's usually at home by 10 at least" Robin said, petrified at what was out there. Another snap. Robin turned her heel, ready to run when the barrel of rifle was in her face. She fell as she screamed "PLEASE DON'T KILL US WE WERE JUST GOING ON A WALK-

"a walk? Why the hell are you two going on a walk this late?" Robin recognized the voice immediately. It was Nancy Wheeler. Hawkins most famous monster hunter. "Shit Nance you nearly scared us half to death, thought you were A monster or something" Eddie exclaimed. Nancy threw her rifle on her shoulder and lended her hand to Robin, who quickly grabbed it as she scrambled to her feet. She dusted herself off "yeah Nancy, thought you were that werewolf Hawkins complaining about"

"real smooth" Eddie mumbled. Robin elbowed him. He grunted in response. "No it was just my turn to look over this area of the woods tonight. Now can you tell me why exactly you two are out here?"

"Well like Robin said we're out here for a walk" Eddie said.

"this late at night?"

Robin looked to Eddie then back to Nancy "what Eddie is trying to say is that me and him were pulling an all nighter and I kinda started getting a migraine because y'know geometry is just so hard-"

"really hard" Eddie added

"Extremely hard! So I suggested hey why don't we go out for a walk?"

"at 3 in morning. While its dark outside?" Nancy questioned, starting to get suspicious. "We both wanted to get fresh air. Y'know where Eddie lives it's extremely dusty, and I have really bad allergies" Robin said hoping it make an convincing case.

It did (somehow) because Nancy sighed in relief. "Alright, well I'm glad you're both okay. Been having more reports of monster sightings around in these woods. Anyways you two stay safe out here. Maybe go back inside, can't be too sure what's out here" Robin nodded to her as she waved as Nancy left. Once she was out of sight both of them sighed in relief, Robin leaning on the tree "holy shit I can't believe that actually worked"

"yeah I thought it wasn't considering you were talking a little too much"

"what does that mean?"

"it means if someone questions you, you keep it short as you can" Robin scoffed "you're one to talk. Kept interrupting me. She was starting to think something was up"

"yeah well good thing miss monster hunter didn't right?" Eddie smiled in a smug manner. Robin rolled her eyes. "Whatever suckhead"

"rude"

"she was right though, We should probably get back. Don't know until another monster hunter comes along and isn't convinced by our terrible lying"

Eddie pointed at Robin "I'm not a terrible liar. If anything you're the shitty liar" saying as he walked off. Robin quickly slugged him in the shoulder as she followed him back to the trailer park.

from what she had heard and seen for herself in her limited experience, it was hard for hunters to make that distinction between supernatural creature and monster. natural born werewolves could control themselves, vampires could stop themselves from the kill or get blood from other sources... witches? she saw them as more of a grey area than anything else. ❝ your decisions determine your character. not who your parents were. ❞

❝ why does being half witch make you a monster? is that something you really believe? if you met someone with similar genetics to you, would you think they're a monster without getting to know them? ❞ empathy radiated in her expression, her brown eyes never left dakota's. she knew that dakota would never feel that way, but hoped that hearing that would get her to realize that she shouldn't think that way about herself either.

Dakota had to pause for a long moment at Jody's question. Did she consider herself a monster? She thought about it every day and she still wasn't sure herself. The only support system that Dakota saw that she had was her family and close friends. Any hunter who didn't know her saw her as evil even though she was clearly on the hunter's side.

Lifting her green eyes to look at the sheriff, confusion and sadness shined bright in her hues. “─I . . . don't know,” she spoke slowly. “Sam and Dean keep saying to screw everyone and their opinions, as they always say, but I ask myself that question every day. I know that I'm a monster, but I don't want to be one. I didn't ask to be born like this.”
