until the end ・ TOM WELLING. ៸៸៸ 𝐍𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 ! ♡ library

୨୧ synopsis. you prepare to marry tom, facing nerves and excitement, while jensen helps him navigate his own wedding day jitters.
୨୧ warning(s). fluff | fem!reader | wedding anxiety | mild language | best friend!jensen | a heartfelt best man speech | light friendly banter | wedding games (?) | mentions of whiskey (but nothing too extreme) | no use of Y/N.
୨୧ kari notes. i had a dream the night before about him and i can't recall what even happened :( but all i do remember is just seeing his face, like the one in the photo <3 he's so cutesy !!!
୨୧ word count. 2.3k
tom sat in his chair, his fingers drumming against the armrest as the distant hum of conversation filled the dressing room. he hadn't seen you all morning, and the absence of your presence weighed on him more than he cared to admit. the simple comfort of you—your scent, your voice, the warmth of your touch—was missing, leaving him restless.
his back ached from sitting too long, his body stiff after hours of preparations. the elegant suit he wore felt both like a privilege and a burden, the fabric pressing against him as he fidgeted, trying to find a comfortable position.
“jesus, man, you look like you're about to throw up."
tom turned his head to see jensen, his best man, standing in the doorway with a smirk. dressed in a sleek black suit, tie slightly loosened, jensen carried two glasses of whiskey—one of which he promptly handed to tom.
he took the glass but didn't drink, just stared at the amber liquid. "i don't feel like throwing up," he muttered, though the slight tremor in his hands betrayed him.
jensen raised an eyebrow, taking a sip of his drink. "could've fooled me. you've been sitting in that chair looking like a lost puppy."
tom sighed, leaning back. "i haven't seen her all day. feels weird."
jensen chuckled, clapping a hand on his shoulder. "that's because, for once in your life, you're not in control, dude. she's busy getting all done up while you sit here, looking pretty and trying not to panic."
"i'm not panicking,” tom argued, but jensen just gave him a knowing look.
"sure. and i don't have a supernatural convention next weekend."
tom rolled his eyes, finally taking a sip of the whiskey. the warmth spread through his chest, loosening some of the tension in his muscles. he savored the momentary relief, but it did little to quell the storm of emotions brewing inside him.
jensen sat down across from him, leaning forward, his expression turning serious. "look, man, i get it. this is huge. but you already won. you got the girl. you're just making it official now."
tom exhaled, rubbing his hands together. "that's the thing. what if i mess it up?"
jensen snorted. "dude, you've been with her for how long? you think one wedding is gonna change anything?"
tom hesitated, then shook his head. "no… i don't know. i just want it to be perfect."
jensen grinned. "it will be. because she loves you, dumbass."
tom huffed a small laugh, finally relaxing a little. jensen's unwavering confidence in him helped ease some of the knots in his stomach.
"now," jensen said, standing up and straightening his tie, "let's get you out there, before you start crying on me or something."
tom shot him a look. "i'm not gonna cry."
jensen smirked. "uh-huh. we'll see about that when she walks down the aisle."
tom shook his head, but deep down, he knew jensen was probably right. the thought of seeing you in your wedding dress made his heart race, a mix of excitement and trepidation swirling within him.
the morning had been a blur of soft laughter, gentle touches, and the rustling of silk and lace. you were surrounded by your bridesmaids, each one fluttering around you like butterflies, adjusting your hair, perfecting your makeup, and making sure everything was flawless. despite the whirlwind of preparations, your mind was solely on tom.
you hadn't seen him all morning, and it felt strange not to have him there beside you. he was your anchor, your home, your safe place. the anticipation of standing before him and exchanging vows sent shivers down your spine.
a soft knock on the door pulled you from your thoughts.
"come in," you called, your heart racing with excitement.
the door cracked open, and to your surprise, jensen peeked his head in. "hope i'm not breaking any ancient wedding traditions by showing up," he said, stepping inside. "but i come bearing a peace offering."
you laughed as he held up a letter—tom’s handwriting scrawled across the front.
"he made me deliver it," jensen explained, handing it to you. "said he 'needed' to talk to you, but, you know, rules and all."
your heart clenched as you carefully unfolded the note, your breath hitching in your throat.
baby… i know i'm not supposed to see you yet, but i needed to tell you this before you walk down the aisle. i love you. i've loved you from the moment i met you, and i will love you for the rest of my life. no matter what happens today, tomorrow, or fifty years from now—you are my always. see you soon, my love.
you pressed the letter to your chest, blinking back tears. the words resonated deep within you, filling you with warmth and affection.
jensen watched you with an amused expression. "yep. he's gonna cry."
you laughed softly, shaking your head. "no, he is not."
"wanna bet?" he grinned. "i'll put fifty bucks on it right now. he's already a mess."
you chuckled, but deep down, you knew jensen was probably right. the thought of tom's reaction when he saw you was enough to make your heart swell.
as the minutes ticked by, the atmosphere shifted. the music started, a soft melody filling the air, and the moment you had been waiting for had arrived.
everyone rose from their seats.
and tom—oh, tom—he went completely still.
jensen, standing beside him at the altar, smirked as he heard the sharp intake of breath from his best friend.
"told you," jensen whispered, barely containing his amusement.
tom ignored him. because there you were.
as you walked slowly down the aisle, tom’s throat tightened, his vision blurring slightly. you were breathtaking. ethereal. his.
the fabric of your dress flowed around you like a dream, the intricate details catching the light and shimmering with every step. the world around you faded as you locked eyes with tom, his expression a mixture of awe and vulnerability.
jensen discreetly reached into his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief, nudging tom with his elbow. "you good, dude?"
tom exhaled shakily, eyes never leaving you. "yeah."
jensen smirked. "told you you'd cry."
as you reached the altar, the officiant began the ceremony, but all tom could focus on was you. the way your hair fell gracefully over your shoulders, the glimmer of happiness in your eyes, the soft smile playing on your lips—it was everything he had ever dreamed of and more.
i can't believe this is happening, he thought, his heart racing. the officiant’s words were mere background noise as he absorbed the moment, the reality of marrying you sinking in with every heartbeat.
after a few heartfelt words, it was time for the vows. you turned to him, your eyes sparkling with love as you spoke from the heart.
"tom," you began, your voice steady but filled with emotion. "from the moment i met you, i knew you were special. you've been my best friend, my confidant, and my rock. our relationship has blossomed into something beautiful, and i can't imagine my life without you. today, i vow to always stand by your side, no matter what life throws our way."
he felt the tears prick at his eyes, his heart swelling with every word. you continued, your voice unwavering, "i promise to be your support, your cheerleader, and your partner-in-crime. i promise to laugh with you, cry with you, and share every moment of joy and heartache. you are my best friend, my lover, and my soulmate."
with each vow you made, tom felt the weight of the world lift off his shoulders. he was home.
when it was his turn, he took a deep breath, his voice thick with emotion. "(___) you are my everything. i've loved you from the moment we met, and i will love you for the rest of my life. you are my anchor, my light in the dark, and i promise to cherish you always."
the officiant smiled, clearly moved by the sincerity of your vows. the guests watched in rapt attention, and tom could feel the weight of their love and support surrounding you both.
"now, by the power vested in me, i pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant declared. "you may now kiss the bride."
tom stepped forward, his heart racing as he cupped your face in his hands. as your lips met, the world melted away, leaving just the two of you in that moment. the kiss was soft at first, an exploration filled with love and promise, before deepening into something more passionate.
after you pulled away, the applause erupted around you, a symphony of joy ringing in your ears. tom couldn't help but smile, the sight of you radiant in your wedding dress filling him with a sense of completeness.
the reception was a whirlwind of laughter and celebration. glasses clinked, music filled the air, and everyone was on their feet, dancing and reveling in the happiness that surrounded you both.
jensen stood up, tapping his glass with a fork, commanding attention. "alright, alright, listen up, people. i've got some words to say about this big guy right here."
tom groaned, burying his face in his hands. "oh, god."
jensen grinned, the mischievous glint in his eye impossible to miss. "relax, man. i'll keep it PG-13… mostly." he cleared his throat dramatically, the room quieting down in anticipation. "i've known tom for a long time now. and let me tell you, this dude? he's a legend. he's superman, for crying out loud. but today? today, he's just a guy who got incredibly, ridiculously lucky."
the crowd erupted in laughter, and tom shook his head with a chuckle, feeling a mix of embarrassment and pride.
jensen turned to you, his tone shifting to sincerity. "seriously, i don't know how you put up with him, but i'm glad you do. because i've never seen him happier than when he's with you. and if there's anyone who deserves a lifetime of happiness, it's him."
tom swallowed hard, his jaw tightening as emotion welled up. jensen's words struck a chord, and he felt the heat of tears pooling in his eyes.
"so let's raise our glasses," jensen continued, raising his glass of chardonnay. "to tom and his beautiful wife. may your love be as epic as smallville, as unbreakable as superman himself, and as legendary as this wedding."
"cheers!" the crowd erupted, raising their glasses with enthusiasm.
tom, now definitely blinking back tears, turned to you with a soft smile. "i love you," he whispered, leaning in close, his voice barely audible over the cheers.
"i love you too," you replied, your heart swelling with joy.
you both shared another kiss, the world around you faded, leaving only the two of you wrapped in your love. the evening unfolded like a beautiful dream, filled with dancing, laughter, and the warmth of family and friends celebrating your union.
tom pulled you close during the first dance, his arms securely around your waist as you swayed to the music. the world outside faded away, and all that mattered was this moment—the two of you, together, forever.
"i can't believe we're actually married," you said, gazing up at him, your heart racing.
"believe it," he replied, his voice low and filled with emotion. "you're mine now, and i'm never letting go."
the words hung in the air, a promise that resonated deep within you. you moved together, the rhythm of the music matched the heartbeat of your love, each beat echoing the journey you had taken to get to this moment.
as the night wore on, laughter echoed around the room. friends and family shared stories, memories, and heartfelt toasts, each one a testament to the love you and tom had cultivated over the years. the atmosphere was electric, a perfect blend of joy and celebration that wrapped around you like a warm embrace.
jensen, ever the entertainer, took to the floor again, his antics bringing laughter and smiles from everyone. "alright, folks! next up, we have a little game for the newlyweds," he declared, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "let's see how well they really know each other!"
tom and you exchanged glances, amusement dancing in your eyes.
"bring it on," you said confidently, nudging tom playfully.
the game involved answering questions about each other, and as the rounds progressed, the room filled with laughter as you both revealed little quirks and secrets that made your relationship unique.
"okay, what's his favorite movie?" jensen asked, looking between you and tom.
"easy. mutiny on the bounty," you answered without hesitation.
tom grinned, nodding in approval. "and (___)'s is the craft," he replied, and the room filled with cheers.
the questions continued, each one drawing out laughter and teasing from the guests. but amidst the fun, tom felt a deep sense of gratitude swell within him.
when the night began to wound down, you found yourselves standing on the balcony, the soft glow of fairy lights surrounding you, the stars twinkling like diamonds in the night sky.
"can you believe we did it?" you asked, leaning against the railing, your heart full.
tom turned to you, his expression softening. "i can. and i wouldn't change a thing. this is exactly where i'm meant to be."
you smiled, warmth spreading through you. "i love you, tom. you make me so incredibly happy."
he stepped closer, wrapping his arms around you, pulling you into his embrace. "i love you too, baby. more than i can ever put into words. you're my everything."
as you stood together, the world around you faded into silence, leaving only the two of you in your perfect moment. the wedding had been a beautiful celebration, but it was the love you shared—strong, unwavering—that truly made it unforgettable.
you stared up at him, your heart brimming with joy, you knew this was just the beginning of your forever.

Unspoken Words pt 2
Master List
Characters: Jensen Ackles x Reader, Reader’s daughter, other characters
Warnings: Fluffy goodness, and Jensen being such a sweetheart.
A/N: Another collab story with @cheekygirl2309. This one is about a single mother with a nonverbal autistic daughter who loves Supernatural. The reader is going to a Supernatural Convention with her daughter and things unfold from there. The daughter character is near and dear to my heart. I have someone very close to me who is nonverbal, but he’s such an amazing kid.
This is a work of fiction and does not depict real life. Jensen is single in this story.
All work is my own and @cheekygirl2309, don’t take it or use it as your own. Reblogs and likes are appreciated.

Lily woke up not long after the text exchange. She seemed more relaxed. Lily began looking around when she woke up. I noticed she started to get upset.
“Lily, what’s wrong baby?” She grunted. “Dean, Jensen.” She said with sadness. “Oh baby, he said he’d be back, he had to go, but he’ll be back soon.”
“Go?” She asked, her eyes wide. “Yes baby, he had to go meet other people.” She crossed her arms and pouted. Sarah and I chuckled.
A few minutes later Jensen returned with our photos in hand. Lily saw him and immediately jumped off the couch and ran to him.
She landed against him with a thud. Knocking the wind out of him. He laughed, “It’s good to see you again too, Lily. You look rested.” He smiled at me and then down at Lily.
“I have the pictures. I wasn’t sure if you wanted me to autograph them or not, but I’d be happy to.” He handed them to me and they were perfect. Well, the one with Lily and Jensen, mine not so much. I always hated having my picture taken.
I sighed a little, but didn’t think Jensen heard. “Everything okay, sweetheart?” “What? Oh yeah. You two look great in these.” Jensen looked over my shoulder, “You look beautiful in that one too.” My cheeks burned red. “You’re just being nice, but thank you.”
Jensen turned me to face him, “No, Y/N. Don’t do that. You’re stunning and anyone would be lucky to be with you.” I bit my lip as he pushed my hair behind my ear.
My heart pounded in my chest. Everyone else in the room disappeared. “Jensen, back!” Lily squealed, breaking our eye contact.
I showed her the pictures and she took the one with her and Jensen and sat down with it. She was giggling.
“So what are you guys doing later, after the convention ends tonight?” “Well, I’ll probably take Sarah home and then take Lily home. She’s going to be overstimulated for sure and I want to make sure she’s okay for tomorrow.”
“Oh okay, I get it.” Jensen sounded and looked a little disappointed. Sarah stepped up to us, “Why? What are you doing tonight, Jensen?” “Sarah! That’s not our business.” I shot back at her.
Jensen chuckled, “It’s only fair, I asked you first. Sarah, I was planning on grabbing something to eat and maybe drink before heading home. I was going to see if y’all wanted to join me, but I completely understand. Lily definitely needs to decompress.” “Well, I don’t have to go home. I can stay with Lily if Y/N wants to go out with you.”
I shot Sarah a look and she smirked, shrugging her shoulders. Jensen smirked at Sarah and then looked over at me, “Well, what do you say? I can pick you up at about 8.”
I looked over at Sarah and then back at him, “Um, sure. If you want to.” Jensen stepped closer, “More than you know.” I nodded and blushed.
The rest of the afternoon went by quickly. Lily was reaching her limit so we decided to leave. I sent Jensen a text to let him know.
Me: Hey. Lily is at her limit. We are heading home. If you change your mind about later I totally understand. Thanks for an amazing day and we will see you tomorrow.
Jensen looked at his phone and smiled.
Jensen: I understand. I haven’t changed my mind about tonight. 8 can’t get here fast enough. I’m looking forward to seeing you tonight.
Me: Me too. Dress code?
Jensen: Something comfortable. I’m taking you to my favorite BBQ place in Austin. 😉
Me: Oh I’m intrigued. I’ll see you later. Have a great afternoon.
Jensen: You too, sweetheart.
My heart fluttered in my chest and I couldn’t stop smiling. Sarah looked at me and chuckled, “Seems like Lily isn’t the only one enamored with Jensen.”
I laughed, “Well it’s your fault, you offered to babysit so he could take me out. What was that about?!”
“Hey, not only am I the best aunt in the world, and the most amazing friend, I’m an incredible wingman too. Besides I saw how he looked at you and you looked at him.”
I smiled, “Yeah. He’s incredible and Lily loves him.”
I drove us back to the house and Lily kept a grip on her picture. I knew I needed to frame it before it got messed up. I just had to figure out how to get it from her long enough to do it.
Once inside the house Lily went to play in her room, her picture went with her of course. I sighed. “I need to get the picture away so I can frame it. Any ideas?” I asked Sarah.
“We can take the frame to her and tell her we need to protect it and have her put it in the frame.” I nodded. The idea was great. I just hoped it would work.
“Hey, Lily baby. I have this frame for your picture. We need to keep it safe so it lasts forever. Want to help me?”
Lily looked at the picture and then the frame. But she didn’t move. I took a deep breath.
“I promise baby you can have it right back.”
She took the frame and I helped her lift the locking tabs. She slid the picture in, but held onto the frame. I put the back on and locked the tabs.
I helped her turn the frame over and she smiled. “Jensen” she said looking at it. I nodded, “Yes baby. Jensen and Lily.”
She pointed to the picture, “Jensen, Lily. Stay”.
The “stay” part confused me. I didn’t respond because I wasn’t sure what to say.
Sarah came into the room, “Okay, girl it’s 6:30. You need to get ready.” I took a shaky breath. I was so nervous.
I was ready by 7:30, but kept checking myself in the mirror. “You look beautiful, Y/N. He’s not gonna know what hit him.” “Thanks, Sarah. I’m so nervous.”
She smiled, took my hand and told me to breathe. “You’ve got this sweetie. Think of him as a regular guy.”
The doorbell rang about 10 till 8. Sarah smiled at me and I nodded for her to answer the door. He stepped in the house and damn was he gorgeous. Dark jeans, a buttoned down shirt, and his boots.
“Wow, look at you, darlin’.” He said as he saw me. I blushed, “You look great, Jensen.” Lily heard his voice and came running in the room. “Jensen” she squealed as she threw her arms around him. “Hey Lily. I got something for you sweetie.” He handed her a bag and she took it to the couch.
“Jensen, you didn’t have to get her anything.” “Of course I did. She’s letting me take her mama on a date.” My eyes went wide. A date? Did he say date? My breath hitched.
She opened the bag and pulled out a stuffed squirrel and moose. I chuckled. She held them both tight. “That was so sweet of you, Jensen.” “It was Clif’s idea. I wanted to bring her something and he said he saw her looking at them.”
“I’ll be sure to thank him when I see him.” He nodded, “Shall we go?” I nodded and gave Lily a hug and kiss goodbye, “You be good for Auntie Sarah, I’ll be back later.”
As Jensen walked towards the door Sarah stopped him, “You take care of our girl or I’ll kick your butt.” He chuckled and I turned red. “Sarah!” Jensen looked at her and smiled, “Yes ma’am. I plan on treating her the way she deserves.” “You better!” She laughed.
I was so embarrassed. Jensen and I walked towards his car. His hand on the small of my back. “I’m sorry about Sarah. She’s always been so protective of me.” “Don’t be sorry. It’s great to have friends that are protective. It means they really care about you.”
He opened the car door and I got in. My heart was pounding in my chest. Jensen climbed in the driver’s seat and looked over at me and smiled, “Ready?” I nodded and smiled.
We headed toward the restaurant and I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. He’d glance over at me and then back at the road. “I really appreciate you taking me out tonight. Sorry Sarah and Lily couldn’t come. I just knew Lily wouldn’t be able to handle going out after being out all day.”
“It’s okay. We’ll have to figure out something next time. I’m sure I can find some sensory friendly places we can take her.”
I turned and looked at him. A smile stretched across my face, “Jensen that’s really sweet of you, but you don’t have to.” “I know, Y/N. I want to. Sorry, but Lily and I are like besties now. You two are stuck with me.” He winked and I laughed.
“Oh besties, huh? Well excuse me. I had no idea.” He laughed, “Yeah, we bonded over her love for Dean, and me of course.” “Oh of course.” We laughed and as he parked he looked over at me and took my hand.
“I love hearing you laugh. I’m sure it’s really hard being a single mom, but Lily is a great kid and you are so great with her.”
“Thank you, Jensen. That means a lot. I love her so much and wouldn’t trade my life for anything.”
“Are you ready to go in?” He nodded towards the restaurant. “Yeah, I’m starving.” He took my hand in his as we walked in. The place was busy, but Jensen led me towards a back room. “This is my buddy’s place. He lets me have this room when I’m here. I called ahead.” I smiled, “Wow, color me impressed, you know the owner and you have a secret room.”
He laughed, “Yeah, it’s great for being alone and hiding bodies if I need to.” “I knew it. That must be why the BBQ is so great here.” Jensen’s head fell back and he laughed loudly. That famous laugh you see him do when he’s really enjoying himself.
“Come on darlin’, let’s sit.” Jensen pulled out my chair and we sat down. The food Jensen ordered for us came and as we ate we talked about any and everything. The night wore on and Jensen talked about Radio Company and how he was excited and the upcoming shows.
He paid the bill, even though I offered to pay for my half. “Now what kind of date would this be if I had you pay? Nope, this is my treat.”
We headed towards the car and before we got in we stood outside for a minute. “Jensen, I had a really great time tonight. Thank you.” He stepped closer, I could smell his cologne and whiskey on his breath. He licked his lips and I licked mine and swallowed hard.
His face inches from mine, our lips ghosting against each other. My heart is beating loudly in my ears. “Can I kiss you?” Jensen asked softly. I nodded, not trusting my voice.
Jensen leaned in and his lips pressed softly against mine. The kiss was soft and gentle. He pulled away and looked in my eyes. His hands slipped behind my neck and into my hair, pulling me close to him and he deepened the kiss.
His tongue licked my lip and I opened my mouth. His tongue found mine and they began dancing and fighting for dominance. I moaned into his mouth which spurred him on. His body pushed mine against the car and he kissed deeper. My hands on his biceps trying to ground myself.
My lungs screamed for air but at that moment Jensen’s lips were giving me all the oxygen I needed. Then the shrill sound of my phone pulled us back to reality.
Jensen let go and I grabbed my phone, panting. “Sarah, is everything okay?” I could hear Lily in the background crying. “Y/N, I am so sorry. I can’t get her to calm down. She’s been crying for over half an hour.” “Did she get hurt? Do you know what set her off?”
“No, she had the stuffies Jensen bought her and her picture. All she said was “Jensen” and started crying.” I looked up at Jensen and he opened the door for me.
He ran to his side and we took off towards the house. “Okay, I’m on my way Sarah.” I hung up and looked at Jensen.
“Is Lily okay?” He asked with concern in his voice. “Yeah I think so. She’s having a meltdown and Sarah can’t get her calmed down. She’s apparently asking for you.”
He smirked, “Sorry.” “No, don’t be. She doesn’t understand you’re not here forever. She’s going to have to get used to the idea that meeting you was just meeting you. You aren’t staying in our lives forever.”
I noticed his body language shift when I said that. “Jensen, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant you’re a celebrity and we’re not family, so the likelihood of you coming by on weekends and special events are very slim.”
“No I get it, you don’t have to explain anything to me.” My heart broke at his tone. I didn’t mean to upset him.
I reached out and touched his arm, “Jensen, please. I’m sorry.” Tears pricked my eyes and I tried to hold them back, but they fell. I turned and looked out the window. I slid as close to the door as I could.
What the hell did I just do? Everything was going great, and I just screwed it up. Lily deserves better than this. Now he definitely won’t stick around.
“Did you say something sweetheart?” I whipped my head and looked at Jensen. He saw the tears falling. “Hey, shh. Don’t cry. It’s okay. You didn’t screw anything up, and I’m not going anywhere if you don’t want me to.”
I blinked at him, trying to get the tears to stop. “Jensen, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to say that out loud. I just need to protect Lily, and myself.”
He took my hand, “I get it. I want to be in your lives.” I nodded, “I’d like that very much.”
“Good, because after we help Lily I’m picking up where we left off. Damn that kiss was amazing.” I smiled, “Yeah it was. Better than I’d ever imagined.” He laughed.
We pulled up at the house and I leaped out of the car and ran inside. Lily was sitting on the floor crying, holding the stuffies and picture. “Lily baby, mama’s back. It’s okay sweetie. I’m here.”
I tried all our calm down techniques and they didn’t work. Jensen took off his boots and got on the floor beside her and placed his hand on her back, “Lily, I’m here too baby girl.” She looked at him and instantly stopped crying.
I gasped softly. I’d never seen her stop in a meltdown so abruptly. His green eyes flicked up and met mine. I mouthed, “thank you” to him and he nodded.
She grabbed her stuffies and climbed in his lap. I was in awe. He held her for a few minutes then she wiggled out of his arms and went to her room.
“Jensen, that was incredible. I’ve never seen her do that before. Please tell me your secret.” I chuckled a little, but was a little serious too.
“Must be the Dean charm.” He laughed and I playfully hit his arm.
Lily returned with her storybook. She handed it to Jensen. “Do you want me to read this to you, Lily?” “Read,” she said to him.
“Jensen, she’s said more to you today than she has in the past 7 years. I am in shock.
She grabbed his hand and started pulling him towards her bedroom. She climbed in bed and he sat beside her. I sat in the chair in her room and watched them interact. He read her the story, doing different voices for the characters. She’d occasionally giggle and kept one hand on his arm and the other wrapped around her new stuffies from him.
Her eyes started to get heavy as he continued reading the story. By the time he was finished I heard soft snores coming from her mouth. He smiled at her, pulled the blanket up and kissed her head softly.
We tiptoed out of the room and went back to the living room. “Wow, Jensen, that was amazing.” Sarah said from the couch. “Yeah, I’ve never seen her act like that with someone new.”
He blushed a little, “What can I say, I’m great with kids.” I placed a hand on his arm, “Jensen that was more than you being great with kids. You really bonded with her.” Tears filled my eyes again, “Jensen, she’s never spoken as much as she has today. Today was the first time she’d ever called me “mama”. That was huge. I’ve waited so long to hear her call me that. Thank you. For whatever you did to get my little girl to open up more.” The tears fell hard and fast.
He wrapped his arms around me and held me tight. “Shh. It’s okay baby. Thank you for letting me be part of her world and trusting me enough.” I pulled back a little and he wiped the tears away, then he kissed my lips softly.
Sarah smiled, “Well. I’m going to head home. Good night you two, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” She chuckled as she started to leave.
I stepped on the porch with her, “Sarah, thank you for everything today. Are you still coming tomorrow with us?” “Of course I am, and I want details later about that date.” I nodded and smiled, “Just know he kisses better than I thought. Good night.” I smiled and waved.
She squealed in delight as she walked towards her car.
I went back in to find Jensen sitting on the couch. I sat down beside him and he pulled me close to his side. His arm slung around my shoulders and my head rested on his chest.
“Do you think Lily will sleep okay tonight?” Jensen asked almost in a whisper. “Yeah, she should be good the rest of the night. You know I don’t want to keep you. I know you need to get home.” “I’m good if you’re good. I don’t mind. Besides, I’m perfectly happy sitting right here with you.”
“Me too. Just give me a minute. I’m going to change if that’s okay.” He nodded, “I’ll be here waiting.”
He pulled me in for a soft kiss before I got up and I walked to my room. Every part of me screamed to invite him into my room, but the logical part of me told me I should wait. This was too fast, but damn I wouldn’t mind.
I shook the thoughts out of my head and changed into my comfortable pajamas. Just an old band shirt and some sleep pants. I walked back into the living room and found Jensen had removed his button down shirt and hung it on the back of the chair. “I hope you don’t mind, I was being choked by the buttons.” He laughed. “Nope don’t mind at all.” The shirt he was wearing was tight across his chest and showed the perfect definition of his toned body.
“So, where were we, sweetheart?” He asked as he pulled me down beside him. We spent the rest of the night kissing, making out and talking. At some point we both fell asleep.
Around 7am his phone went off with an alarm. We were startled awake. “Oh my goodness, Jensen. We fell asleep.” He laughed, “Well we can say our first sleepover was a success.” I smiled, “Yeah. I’d say.”
“Well darlin’ I hate to run, but I need to get home and get ready for the convention.” He stood up and went to grab his shirt but it was gone. We looked at each other puzzled.
I walked towards Lily’s room, he followed. There she was in her bed, clinging to the moose and squirrel stuffies, and she was wrapped in his button down shirt.
“Jensen, I’m so sorry. Let me wake her up and get it for you.” He touched my arm, “No, let her sleep. I’ll be back later today and I can get it then.” I nodded and we walked towards the front door.
“I had a great time last night, Y/N. I can’t wait to do it again.” “Me too, Jensen. It was incredible, you were incredible with Lily.” He cupped my face and with his thumb moved a fallen strand of hair. “So beautiful.” He placed a soft kiss on my lips and pulled back. “I’ll see you later, Y/N.” “Yeah, I’ll see you later, Jensen.” One last kiss goodbye and he left. Leaving me feeling like I was in a dream I never wanted to wake up from.

Calm Before The Storm
Pairing: Jensen Ackles x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~1.8k
Warnings: angst, trichotillomania, hurting yourself, fluff at the end
Request by @bee-1n-space: I was hoping you could possibly write a Drabble or one-shot about a fem reader that has trichotillomania, a hair pulling disorder. I have it and I tend to pull my eyebrow and eyelashes :( I was thinking a story with Jensen, possibly after reader has a hard or anxiety inducing con (if an actress) or moment and he helps her. Or if that doesn’t work, one with Dean after a hard or failed hunt!
Summary: Trichotillomania affects about ten million Americans which ranges from not that bad to severe. You’re not sure where you fall on that spectrum, but it’s safe to say that you’ve got it bad. You try not to trigger your disorder but sometimes you can’t help it. The one person you can always count on is Jensen. He makes the urges go away even for only a moment.
Square Filled: “I love everything about you. Even the things I don't like, I love. And I want you with me. I love you and I think you love me too. Do you?” (2022) for @spnquotebingo
Author’s Note: any and all comments are appreciated <3
x
Something like a convention isn’t normally your scene. You’d never go to one of these alone much less with someone else. The only reason why you’re going to this one is because your best friend is asking you to. You’d do anything for Jensen even if it means going to a place that will definitely trigger your anxiety.
Before you were diagnosed, you didn’t understand why you were pulling your hair out of your head whether that be from your head or face. It's an urge that you can’t control. It was only when you got to high school that you were diagnosed with trichotillomania, a hair-pulling disorder. Your eyelashes were the target of your disorder until you turned to your eyebrows before settling on your hair. You have balding spots that you cover with bangs but it still doesn’t make up for the fact that they’re there.
Still, you’re going to this convention for Jensen and only Jensen.
The car pulls up to the service entrance not available to the public. You, Jared, and Jensen leave the car and head inside the place. The room is empty as they get everything set up, but you can hear the commotion outside as fans chat and enjoy the different events going on. You won’t be going on stage with the boys but you will be around when they take pictures with their fans.
It’s okay if they come up to you and ask for pictures. You have to tell yourself that because you’ve been shown on Jensen’s social media so often you get recognized on the street by the biggest fans of Supernatural. As they are getting set up, you walk to the huge window and look out at the streets below. There are still people coming in for the events that have a late start, and you admire the different costumes you see. Anime adaptations, superhero remakes, and more.
It’s times like these that make you wish you didn’t have your disorder. You’d love to enjoy places like these but you get claustrophobic easily so large crowds are a huge no for you.
“Hey, are you going to be okay?” Jensen asks when he walks up from behind you.
“Yeah, I have my snacks and my fidget spinner. I’ll be okay,” you smile.
Jensen pulls you in for a hug and kisses you on your head. He always shows affection like this toward you even though you wish he’d do it more often.
“Thank you for coming. I know it’s not easy for you.”
You pull away and look into his eyes.
“Anything for you.”
He leaves your side before you can say anything more. The crush you have on him grows by the second. There is no way you’re going to tell him how you feel for two reasons. One, you don’t believe he feels the same way about you. He is pretty outspoken with his feelings and he would have done it by now if he felt the same. Two, you don’t want to lose him as a friend. He’s one of the best things to ever happen to you, and you’d rather have him as a friend than not have him at all.
You leave the window and head backstage to one of the beak rooms right before the panel starts. The best thing about doing these conventions is connecting with their fans and giving back to them. There wouldn’t be Supernatural without the fans, and Jensen and Jared wouldn’t be where they are today without them.
About halfway through the panel, you get the overwhelming urge to pick at the tiny hairs on your head. The urge comes at random times and sometimes when you’re calm like now. There is nothing around you triggering your disorder yet here you are, tugging on your baby hairs by your hairline. You wrap the hair once around your finger and tug, wincing at the pain. The most painful spot is by your hairline, so you move down to your eyebrows. If you’re going to tug, may as well be at a place where you can fix it with makeup.
One by one, little hairs come out until a new bald spot forms in the middle of your eyebrows. You try to avoid your eyelashes since they just grew back from the last time you picked most of them out. The panel soon ends, and you look down at the little hairs you collected on your pants. With a sigh, you dump them into the trash can and try to forget about it.
Knowing Jensen is coming back here since the panel ended, you cover the small bald spot on your head and use your bangs to cover up the empty spot on your eyebrows as best as you can. Jensen knows you have this disorder but he doesn’t know how bad it’s gotten. You try to be okay for him because you don’t want him worrying about you. It’ll only make you feel worse.
“Hey, did you have fun?” you ask with a smile when he arrives.
“Yeah. We’re heading out now to do photo ops. You’re welcome to stay back here. This place is still rented out by us until the end of the day.”
“Can I come with you?”
“Are you sure you’ll be okay?”
“Yeah. I think I’m getting better,” you lie.
Honestly, you don’t want to be in the back by yourself anymore. Maybe if you’re surrounded by people, you’re less likely to give in to the urges. Plus, you feel bad for not being there for Jensen in the way you said you would be.
You follow Jensen and Jared over to the room where the photo ops will take place, and you stay off to the side but close enough to Jensen if you need him. Fans come rushing into the place to check in and get in line. Before you know it, this entire place is swarmed with fans just itching to get a moment with Jensen and Jared.
“It’s nice to meet you, Emily. Do you have a pose in mind?”
“Would you be willing to do the Jack and Rose pose?”
“Sure,” Jensen laughs and stands behind the nice young woman.
“Hi, are you Y/N?” You peel your eyes off Jensen and look at the teenage girl next to you. “Oh, my God, you are. Can I get a picture with you?”
It’s okay, Y/N. Just take a picture. It’s only one person.
“Sure,” you say shyly. “What’s your name?”
“Jasmine.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Jasmine.”
You tense slightly when she puts her arm around you but you don’t make her move it. You know you can if you want to but it’s only one moment. A few seconds and she’s gone. You smile at her camera and she takes a few snaps.
“Thank you so much. I just have to say, I love your relationship with Jensen. You two are so cute.”
“Oh, thank you. He’s a really good best friend.”
Jasmine must not have come alone because three more people join her side moments later. You smooth down your hair nervously and try not to give into the urge that’s screaming at you.
“Look, it’s Y/N!”
Immediately, her friends start gushing at you about Jensen and asking for pictures. You take them purely because you don’t want to disappoint them. They got so excited when they figured out who you were, so you’d only feel worse if you rejected them.
“So, have you ever been on set to watch them film?” one of the girls asks.
“I bet they don’t get any work done. Have you seen those bloopers?” another girl chimes in.
“What do you and Jensen like to do on the weekend? Do you hang with Jared a lot?”
Questions upon questions are thrown at you without pause. The girls are too excited to give you a chance to speak. You get it. To them, you’re either a celebrity by association or you’re Jensen’s girlfriend. Either way, you have the insider scoop on their favorite actors. A few more people gather around you once they hear the commotions the teenagers are making, and your anxiety skyrockets.
Jensen hears laughter and looks over to see a group do girls crowding around you. You’re panicking. You’re trying not to let it show but you’re picking at your eyelashes subtly by rubbing your eyes and plucking off one eyelash after the other as you pull away.
“I’ll be right back. Bathroom break.”
Jensen leaves before the person in charge can say anything. He walks over to you, and the girls surrounding you giggle when they see him coming. You look at Jensen helplessly, and he pushes past the girls to get to you.
“Excuse me, ladies. Well be right back,” he smiles.
Jensen takes your hand and pulls you into one of the back rooms. It’s a break room of sorts with all kinds of food and a huge couch on the back wall.
“I’m so sorry,” you whimper. “I tried to be good for you. I’m sorry I wasn’t doing good.”
“Don’t ever be sorry for needing time away.”
“It’s just… They were all coming at once, and I didn't know what to do.”
Jensen smooths your hair back. “You don’t need to explain yourself.” He brings you to the couch and sits with you. He pulls you onto his lap comfortably before reaching into his back pocket for something. “I have something for you.” He pulls out those picky pads you can get on TikTok. “I figured you might need this.”
You love things that keep your hands busy. It keeps you from giving in to your urges. You take the picky pad and start picking out the small beads.
“I’m sorry for everything,” you sigh. “You should go back to your fans.”
“They don’t need me right now. You do.” Those words bring tears to your eyes. He doesn’t know you’re crying until he sees two tears roll down your cheeks. “What’s wrong?”
You look up at him briefly before looking back down at your picky pad.
“Please don’t hate me,” you whisper.
“Why would I hate you?”
“Because of what I have. You know, the hair-pulling thing.”
Jensen cups your cheek and gently makes you look at him
“I love everything about you. Even the things I don't like, I love, and I want you with me. I love you and I think you love me too. Do you?”
You can’t help but smile at his confession. “Yeah, I do.”
He leans down and kisses your nose. He rubs your back as you go back to your picky pad.
“Will you be okay?”
You nod. “I promise this time. I’ll just stay back here until you’re done.”
“I should only have an hour left. I’ll be back soon, okay?”
“Okay,” you whisper.
Jensen moves you off his lap and starts for the door. “Oh, there is another picky pad in my bag when you get done with that one.”
“Thank you,” you smile brightly.
Jensen winks and leaves you alone in the break room. Suddenly, the urge isn’t as strong as it was before, and it’s all because of Jensen.

Jared Padalecki Reflects on His 24-Year TV Run (‘I’m Pretty Tired’) and What’s Not Next After Walker Ends
“I’m grateful. Like, I’m not digging ditches. I’m not doing Red Cross work and saving human beings. But yeah, I’m pretty tired,” Padalecki says, adding that he’s “a little disillusioned about the state of the industry that I’ve loved and been employed with for 24 years. So I have a lot of thinking to do, and I have a lot of time to be with my wife and our kids, my friends, and think about where this industry is.”
Below, Padalecki opens up about Walker’s cancellation and why he doesn’t see another long-running TV series in his future.
TVLINE | Obviously, Supernatural was on a lot longer than Walker, but you were an executive producer on Walker, and you seemed to really bond with not only the cast but also the character of Cordell. So how has this letting go experience compared to that of Supernatural for you? With my experience on Gilmore Girls and Supernatural, we found ourselves in a similar situation, like around Seasons 3 and/or 4, where we were on the bubble, or there was a network change, or the head of the network changed, or there was a strike, or et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. So we didn’t know if we’d make it, and in both cases, the network believed in us and let us go as long as we wanted, and now, they’re like two of the top 10 most watched shows on Netflix, worldwide, every year. So I kind of, stupid me, I was hoping and assuming the same might happen… I knew there was a chance. There’s always a chance that the show’s not going to go, but I was like, “Well, we’re still the most watched. We’re not expensive.” So I didn’t know what to expect, and I haven’t yet had time to have closure with Walker.
With Supernatural, Jensen [Ackles] and I talked about it in our trailers on set for years, or during conventions in the green room, or at home, or flying together, or whatever, playing golf. We’d talk about it, and finally, Season 14, we kind of looked at each other, and we were like, “Hey, you know what, I think it’s time to go back to our families.” “Yeah, I think you’re right.” So we met with [CW President] Mark Pedowitz and said, like, “Hey, we’re going to do Season 15, but that’s it.” So we had a couple years, and we, ultimately, made the decision. I left Gilmore Girls to do Supernatural. Jensen and I decided to go ahead and let Supernatural end and give it a good send-off.
That was not the same situation with Walker, obviously. So I’m still kind of dealing with it, to be honest with you. I love the show. I’m so grateful for the four years that we had. I think back to during the pandemic, we were one of the first shows to go back to filming after COVID. We shot in October of 2020, and it was still masks and six feet away. There was just so much everybody went through: car accidents, and more COVIDs, and strep, and flu, and births, and deaths, and marriages, and divorces, and another strike, and this and that. So we had gone through so much together. We had weathered so many storms that I figured we had a lot more storms to weather. It’s not the way it worked out. But right now, I’m really focusing on how grateful I am, and will forever be, for the time I got to spend on Walker.
TVLINE | Given the circumstances, how do you feel about how the series ended and how the storylines were left off in the finale? To the credit of CW and CBS [Studios], when we shot the finale, when it was written, we didn’t know whether or not we were going to go for a fifth or further season, and they did not push us to try and wrap things up in a tidy little bow, which would’ve been really bad storytelling and a really bad episode. They kind of said, “Write the best episode you can. We don’t know if it’s going to go five years, or 10 years, or 30 years, or four years. So make it the best you can.” We knew, and [showrunner] Anna [Fricke] knew, and Blythe Ann Johnson knew — they wrote the finale together — that it was possible [it would end]. So when I think back on the finale, I think whether it was the end of Season 4 or the end of Season 104, I would’ve wanted all the characters to have a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, something to look forward to. And so, all the characters get a send-off and a salute of sorts, but it feels like a proper episode of television. It doesn’t feel like, “Oh, they are in a diner, and let’s just turn the cameras off.” But again, it’s so difficult to end. When you fall in love with a character, or several characters, or a story, for 69 episodes, like how do you end it?
So I’m grateful that we were able to create the best episode that we could without any incumbrances of like, “You better make sure everybody dies, or everybody gets a new job,” or something. Because how could you possibly end the story of all the Walkers and all their friends and been like, “Oh, yup, cool, don’t need to see them anymore”? Like, no matter how it ended, I would’ve wanted to see more of them, and so I’m very proud of the episode.
TVLINE | You went from Gilmore Girls straight to 15 seasons of Supernatural to Walker. Are you exhausted yet? I was exhausted 20 years ago. [Laughs] I am. I am exhausted. When I found out that Walker was not going to go for a fifth season, that was on a Tuesday, and I left for Europe on a Friday, part work, part fun. But I was in Europe for like three and a half weeks with family and a little bit of work, a lot of travel. So I’ve only been in the United States four days in the last month, and so, I haven’t really had time to fully grasp it. But yes, I’m tired. I’m tired. I’m grateful. Like, I’m not digging ditches. I’m not doing Red Cross work and saving human beings. But yeah, I’m pretty tired. I’m a little disillusioned about the state of the industry that I’ve loved and been employed with for 24 years. So I have a lot of thinking to do, and I have a lot of time to be with my wife and our kids, my friends, and think about where this industry is.
I haven’t had time to really reassess my life. I got into this industry when I was 17 years old on Gilmore Girls, and I, at the time, had my school schedule for UT Austin, and so, I thought I was going to do a couple episodes and go back to UT and pay off some student loans or something. That was 24 years ago, so I haven’t really had the time. And even during the writers’ strike in ’08, we were just waiting for it to end to go back and shoot Supernatural. The pandemic in 2020, I was just waiting for it to end, so I could go finish Supernatural and start Walker. The writers’ strike last year, just waiting for it to end, so we could pick up Walker.
I was in Europe for a while, and people would come up and take a picture and get an autograph or whatever and [ask], “So what’s next?” and for the first time in my entire life, I was like, “I don’t know.” “Oh, well, surely you have stuff. What’s next?” I was like, “Well, I don’t know.” They’re like, “Oh, you can’t tell us.” “No, no. It’s not I can’t tell you. I don’t have a job waiting for me,” which I’ve never said that in my adult life. So it’s interesting, and I’m going to surround myself with family and friends and loved ones, and try and figure out if I have anything else to offer that people want, and if I can be of service in storytelling, somehow, some way, then I guess I’ll put my proverbial cowboy hat back on and saddle up.
TVLINE | When you’re ready, though, do you imagine that you will want to do another TV series? I don’t think so. I don’t mind long TV, but I’ve heard it said many times, and I agree, that hour-long episodic television is the hardest job in the industry. If you’re Elijah Wood in Lord of the Rings, and it’s three three-hour long movies or whatever, it’s still like 18 months, you know? There’s an end in sight. With TV shows, sometimes it lasts 15 years, and sometimes they say, “Hey, where do you live? OK, we’re shooting in Vancouver.” You say, “But my family, my wife and kids are in Austin.” Like, “Well, good for them. They can come move up here. Here’s a thousand bucks to fly them out.” It’s not for the weak-spirited. Like, you really have to sacrifice a lot, and I’ve sacrificed everything I have to sacrifice for many, many years, and I think I’m at a point in my life where I want to spend more time with my wife and kids. If a job on a TV show comes up, like I’ve talked to Kripke about The Boys stuff, like, “Yeah, I’ll come play with you for a month. Yeah, I’ll come play with you for two months, for six weeks, or whatever,” or, “Yeah, I’ll come pop in a week out of every month for the next three months.”
But a classic TV contract is a six-year contract. My oldest son is 12, my middle son is 10, my daughter is seven. So if I sign a six-year contract, and they’re filming in Alaska, then I miss my son getting a driver’s license, I miss him graduating high school, I miss his first girlfriend or boyfriend, his first heartbreak, his basketball games, I miss my other son’s driving test, I miss my daughter turning into a teenager, and then I’m leaving [my wife] Gen, too. It’s a big commitment. So I don’t foresee myself doing that unless, again, it was in Austin, and I was the executive producer that could be involved in knowing the show and making sure the cast and crew all did it in as efficient a way as possible.

Jensen Ackles x Female Reader

𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: Jensen had been busy but one day when he decides to surprise you just because he loves you. Simply meant for those who want to dance in the kitchen with your spouse for no reason, or go on old timey dates together.
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: None~ Just a short little one shot with Jensen fluff. Jensen being a reassuring husband. Husband Jensen x Wife Reader.

Jensen had finished up filming a little promo as Soldier Boy for Gen V, the spin-off for The Boys. He was excited to play that role again since he had a lot of fun with the character on The Boys to begin with. It was a matter of days until the promo was released to the public.
Things were going well for him right now. He had even gotten some news that he would be touring around with Jared and the Supernatural cast again for some conventions and he was more than excited for that! He would be leaving in a couple of weeks for that.
But until then, he was staying busy with some other roles or promotions or whatever was going on with the brewery.
This afternoon, however, he finally had some time off. He told you that he was going to be busy all day making some plans and arrangements for going to the upcoming conventions, but he just wanted to surprise you. Especially since he married such a busy little bee.
While he spent his time filming and tending to the bar, you had a career of your own as a costume designer for musical artists and some bands whether its for their music videos or for what they would wear for their concerts. You had worked with Selena Gomez, Carrie Underwood, as well as Amy Lee from Evanescence, just to name a few individuals from some different genres of music.
He knew you had an eye for detail and that was one of the many things he loved about you. Amongst other traits you have of course.
So after his morning errands were done, he stopped by the store to pick up some surprises for you, which lead him to where he was now.
He was carrying in his little surprise when he opened the door to find you cleaning the kitchen listening to some music. When he looked at the tv since that's what you apparently decided to use, he saw that it was some song called 'How to be a Heartbreaker' by Marina and the Diamonds.
It sounded pretty upbeat and he chuckled to himself when he saw you dancing around to the chorus of this song while you were putting something away in the kitchen. He couldn't help the smile that was forming on his face.
You were adorable and he couldn't believe he actually married someone like you. There was never a moment when you couldn't light up his world.
He walked over to you when you didn't have anything in your hands, then he wrapped an arm around you from behind. In his hand was a bouquet of your favorite flowers just because.
"Now who's heart trying to break?" He asked.
You nearly jumped when you felt an arm wrap around you from behind but you smiled when you saw the flowers followed by the familiar voice of your husband.
You looked up at him and saw the grin on his face that made your heart flutter since the first day you met him. People have said that the honeymoon phase doesn't last that long but for you, it was unwavering. Sure there's disagreements and imperfections like any marriage, but you two were able to make it work and that was what mattered the most. You hoped that you two would have a long marriage.
“No one’s. The only heart I have is yours, and I’d like to keep it that way.” You heard Jensen chuckle before he leaned down and gave you a soft kiss on your lips.
When he pulled away you smiled when you looked at the flowers. You took them before you got out of his grasp, “Thank you for these, they’re beautiful! But I thought your day was booked.”
“Well, I said that but I may or may not have bent the truth a little.” Jensen replied while you were looking for a vase. Once you found one you placed the flowers inside and set them on the table.
“You’re free the rest of the day? That’s great! I know you needed some rest from your busy schedule.” You smiled before you walked towards him. He took one of your hands and twirled you around before pulling you into his chest, then he leaned down and kissed your shoulder.
“It is. I know that I’ll be gone for a while with the convention too. I wanted to spend as much time with you as I can, and today worked out perfectly.” You grinned at what he said and you heard the tv change to a slower song. You put on a random playlist on Spotify through your TV so it was a little unpredictable about what songs they’d play since you didn’t look before you clicked.
“How did I get so lucky to have you?” He smiled at what you said while he turned you around, placing a hand on your hip while keeping your other hands clasped together.
“What are you doing?” You asked.
“Dancing with my beautiful bride in our kitchen.” He replied and you snickered as you two started dancing around to whatever the song was. Based off the tune you could hear throughout the house it sounded like it was ‘Two is Better than One’ by Boys Like Girls. Perhaps your Spotify account was favoring some early 2000’s music at the moment.
As the two of you danced, you placed your head on his chest, smiling softly to yourself. It was the moments like these you appreciated most. You knew he was busy, but it was little things like this that let you know Jensen still cared despite his busy schedule.
You remembered the very first time the both of you danced as a married couple on your wedding day. It was truly the happiest day of your life. Your wedding was in the spring and you had an outdoor ceremony. All of your friends and family members were happy for the both of you.
“What are you thinking about, Love?” Jensen asked and you hummed a little.
“Reminiscing about our wedding.” You admitted.
Once the song was over, Jensen looked down at you before he kissed the top of your head. Then he got an idea.
“Why don’t you get dressed in something a little warmer and we’ll go out tonight? It’s supposed to be chilly this evening and I don’t want you getting yourself sick.” He said. You agreed and he watched you go upstairs to your room so you could change.
Once you were dressed in something warmer the two of you left the house so you both could enjoy yourselves. It had been a while since. You had a little date night.
He took you to a nice Italian restaurant where the both of you ate dinner and you had some dessert there. After that, he ended up taking you to a movie. However, tonight was your lucky night!
Jensen had managed to find a drive-in movie theatre. You thought those were practically extinct by now! But it was a sweet surprise nonetheless. You’ve always wanted to go into a drive in theatre and it was surreal that you were finally able to go. You both were even in the iconic ‘67 Impala that Jensen got to keep after Supernatural ended.
Everything felt so perfect.
You and Jensen were unbuckled and you were huddled together. His arm was around your waist and your head was on his shoulder as you both were looking at the screen watching ‘The Wedding Planner’ with Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey.
You knew Jensen wasn’t overly fond of romantic movies, and neither were you necessarily but you did like watching some of J. Lo’s movies every once in a while and you didn’t recall seeing this movie.
“Not even two minutes into the movie and she already reminds me of you.” You could hear Jensen say and you snickered.
“Oh yeah? How’s that?”
“You seem to be a little bit of a perfectionist. A hard worker. Dedicated to your job. But you look much better in those little suits with those pencil skirts than Jennifer does.” He chuckled and you smiled at the last part.
“Well it’s not easy planning and designing what people are going to wear in front of millions, potentially trillions of people.” You reminded and he just grinned as he laid his head down on top of your own as you watched the movie.
You got to the part of the movie where the children’s doctor saved the wedding planner. How a meeting like that happened must’ve been more than random chance. It seemed like fate, then again so did a lot of scripts for romantic movies like this. But of course there was always that problem to make romantic movies a bit more complicated.
“Now that’s in poor taste… if you’re engaged, you shouldn’t go with another girl to the movies or dance with her in the rain. That is a sure fire way to mess with a woman’s heart.” You said.
“Well, they have to have some sort of plot twist for these movies ya know.” He reminded and you grinned and shook your head.
“Yeah I suppose you’re right.”
You two continued to watch the movie and saw that McConaughey’s character saved Lopez’s character not once but twice now. But of course there was always that argument between the two characters to create a little angst.
“I can’t imagine how many weddings she’s seen not work out. This poor bride is going to get her heart broken. She’s got the worst judgement.” You said and he hummed a little.
“Yeah.. the bride and groom seem to be so incredibly different. I get that opposites attract but this a little too much.” He said.
Watching the beginning of this movie you started to wonder about a few things.
“Jensen? Did you ever have doubts if we would work out? I mean, we both have busy schedules… what if one day we’re too busy for each other and what if what everyone says about the honeymoon phase ending and we just fall apart?”
Jensen looked down at you and frowned a little, “Where’s this coming from, Darlin’?”
“I don’t know… I just hear things about couples losing their spark and I don’t want that ever happening to us…”
Jensen shifted and cupped your face so you could look up at him.
“I’ve never had a single doubt about us. Not one.” He reassured as he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, “Yeah you and I have busy careers.. That’s a part of life.”
“But the fact that you’re even concerned about something like that happening, and the fact that you don’t want the spark to leave either means that you’re willing to fight for us if that time ever comes. Sure for some couples the honeymoon phase doesn’t last forever. But how do you think that couples married for over fifty years works out? They don’t let that spark ever fade even if it flickers from time to time.”
You gazed into his eyes and you could see the sincerity behind them. You smiled softly as you lifted your hand and caressed his face as he continued, “You’ve made me the happiest man on the planet the moment you said yes when I proposed to you. And I know that there is nothing you and I can’t do together. Our marriage will last a lifetime. I meant it when I said till death do we part.”
Your smile grew a little bigger when you remembered his vows that day. He looked so handsome standing there at the altar and you remember getting emotional when he said those vows that day.
“You’re right… No matter how busy we get, as long as we always make sure we take that time out for each other, as long as we fight for one another, as long as we love one another, then that’s all that really matters, isn’t it?” You said and he smiled.
“And I’ll love you forever and always.” He promised.
You leaned up and kissed him, and you could feel him smiling into the kiss causing your heart to flutter just like it did the very first time you kissed him.
Needless to say, this was a pretty good date night with your husband. He always knew what to say, and you knew everything he said was truthful. You knew that your marriage would last a life and you’d always be Mrs. Jensen Ackles.

Hey guys! I was just feeling like writing some soft Jensen content. Needed some fluff in my life. Hope this little one shot brightened your day and put a smile on your face! Love you all~

Ask Comp 13/05
@garnetduodecim asked: I always assumed jack spent the first 4 hours in the troll session, before destroying prospit, destroying Aradiabots, there were A LOT of them.
Maybe one of the Aradiabots got in a lucky shot, and was able to tag him with a weaker, non-God Tier variant of her freeze ability. That'd certainly at least delay him.
@morganwick asked: So, you were talking about Aradia "injuring" Vriska (post/704357246751113217) and comparing Vriska to a fairy godmother character (post/722100305374986240)?

@manorinthewoods asked: Serendipity Gospels is by Tamsyn Muir??? Really? Um, that's… hoo. That was one of the fanfics that I didn't end up liking. Might need to revisit that. Side note: 'Doc Scratch's School for Supernaturally Gifted Adolescents' feels more like something Locked Tomb-esque to me. So that's really… ah. ~LOSS (3/5/24)
I do wonder how similar the Gospels are to TLT's writing style.
Actually, can anyone confirm at what point the fic will be safe to read? I could just wait until I'm reading panels from after its publication date, but if I can check it out before, I will.
@abysswarlock asked: Ooh I’ve had this hypothesis for a while now but you just said something that made me lock in my guess that your classpect is Prince of Doom
The classpect wheel continues to turn!
I'm married to Doom for at least one of my 'sonas, but my Class is still up in the air, since we know even less about them than aspects.
@manorinthewoods asked: As a sort of Part 2 to that sylladex comment - how do you think the Sylladex works? Do you think that Homestuck will go into more detail about Sylladices, or do you think they'll fade into the background as different aspects of the magic system come to the fore? ~LOSS (24/4/24)
I think the latter is a lot more likely. Most aspects (lol) of Homestuck's magic system are there to serve the story first and foremost. As much as I'd love the comic to turn into a treatise on Sburb deeplore, it really doesn't feel like something Hussie would be interested in doing.
The story won't really suffer without, say, a detailed explanation of every facet of alchemy - I just really like speculating, because I'm all about shit like that.
@heliotropopause asked: What are your thoughts on Homestuck's translation convention(s)? As an example, take page 2251, line "Arrivederci, Megido.": Is she writing in something close enough to Earth English to scan as such to the reader, no translation necessary? Is Vriska saying a word in Troll Italian, which gets translated to Earth Italian? Is she expressing a sentiment in her usual language that's best translated as the word "arrivederci" as it's used in English? Has Doc Scratch secretly been translating all cross-species communication we've seen so far?
Vriska's arrivederci seems diegetic to me. If we inherited English from Alternia, it makes sense that some of our other languages might come from there too.
tl;dr: Troll Italy is real 🇮🇹
Anonymous asked: im not one to dip my toes into The Vriscourse but this one piece of analysis i really liked is that vriska is jealous of tavros, that hes had a much easier life compared to her and that hes allowed to be more of a wimp while she has to be the toughest fuck alive or else shell die
It's only one piece of the Vriska-Tavros puzzle, but it's an important one. She'll refuse to acknowledge it to the end, though, because the idea of being jealous of Tavros is disgusting to her.
@obscureaeguran asked: Are there any current theories of yours that you want to be wrong about?
Confident as I am in my Vriska death theory, I don't actually want to be right.
I really like Vriska's character, and I want to see her grow past the worldview that's preventing her from finding peace. I just don't think that's likely, given her current trajectory.
Anonymous asked: 'In what universe are 13-year-olds the people most qualified to make universes?' well per the beta version of homestuck (when hussie wanted to make the whole thing in flash before deciding against it) they were all going to be 10 instead, i think this is the much better option!
How young can we go, anyway?
AU where the Homestuck Babies aren't sent to Earth at all, and just start playing immediately.
@manorinthewoods asked: Have you played Deltarune? ~LOSS (9/4/24)
I have! I was actually replaying it on day one of the liveblog - hence the several references I made to it at the time. That feels forever ago, now.
@bladekindeyewear asked: Jade changed pretty drastically as a person after her dreamself died, if you think about it— demanding Feferi stop using her quirk in chat, standing up to the trolls for the first time, getting angry, to such an extent that Karkat was so surprised that it turned his opinion of her around completely in a single conversation. Even forcing a password system to keep talks linear instead of using cloud visions to do everything out of order. This doesn’t just feel to me like dream Jade being a “different individual”, it also feels like a metaphorical confrontation between her NEW self and her OLD self…
I think it's both.
Jade's been through a lot in the last couple of hours, and she really isn't the same girl who died on Prospit.
Being an oracle of Skaia's visions led to disaster. They showed her that John's Dream Self would awaken, leading her to believe she was finally going to meet him, but neglected to mention that she'd die the moment he opened his eyes - or that Prospit would die alongside her.
As a result, the new Jade seems to have made a decision to completely reject all prophetic information. She'll supply the minimum possible intel to her past self, and no more.
It's clear her Dream Self's death was a catalyst for a pretty dramatic shift in her worldview. She's angry - at the trolls, at herself, and at the world that betrayed her trust. She's tired of being jerked around, and her tumultuous emotions are making her rather testy. Basically, she's sick of all the bullshit, and she won't take it from anyone anymore.
Jadesprite has experienced the same catalyst, and has also come to mistrust the clouds, but for different reasons.
Jade rejects prophecies, in part, because she doesn't want to be deceived - but Jadesprite rejects them out of sheer hopelessness. She just doesn't care anymore.
They both have the same trauma, but they're dealing with it in very different ways - and at this point, I really do consider them to be different people.
And then on a metaphorical level, Jadesprite represents the 'silly', absent-minded childhood self that got Jade into this mess.
I think this taunt from Karkat hit very, very close to home for her, and I'm sure she associates the traits he described with her idyllic days on Prospit. It's part of why Dream Jade is such a perfect target for her fury.
@spyril4132 asked: i beg to differ on the entry item similarities only applying to prospit. iirc, rose shatters a bottle, and dave hatches an egg; both involve breaking open some sort of "shell", and neither are associated with a larger object, which could be seen as similar types of items. (while jade does break a piñata, she does so by shooting it, not by splitting it apart)
It's true that Rose and Dave's object's have some physical similarities, but John and Jade are both summoning the same tree, which feels like a much stronger connection.
Rose and Dave's entry cards also summoned auxiliary items, but they were different - a cabinet and bird, respectively. From where I'm sitting, the link between the two Prospit items does seem unique.
@skelekingfeddy asked: what herptiles would sally and sahlee have as their consorts? i feel like a monitor lizard would fit for one of them…maybe losas has like, turtle or tortoise consorts, what with their long-livedness and the wise sagely vibe and all.
I was thinking pretty much the same thing for Sahlee. Let's say they're Galápagos tortoises, because the Sage gives me Oogway vibes.
For Sally's Consorts, I'm going to get really funky and say they're a type of pterosaur.
@sparten4ever92 asked: The HS version of Megalovania is slept on way too much, the Vriska guitar adds so much to it that the UT version just doesn't have. @sanctferum asked: Finally, MeGaLoVania by Toby Fox (feat. Joren "Tensei" deBruin on guitar)! Would you say that Tavros had an…unpleasant chronological progression? (btw I do love the bit of Spider's Claw that plays during the Vriska segment, which is (obviously) unique to this Megalovania) also, the audiovisual style of homestuck flashes is just really cool imo @mimescantscream asked: You have no idea how long we've waited for the Megalovania
This version of Megalovania was a great choice for Aradia's finest hour - or at least, her finest hour so far.
It's moments like this which are why I decided to stop listening to the albums in advance. If I hadn't first heard Aradia's Megalovania in this flash, it wouldn't have hit the way it did.
@elkian asked: MEGALOVANIA TIME BAYBEEEE! Also, let's go back to that theory you had about Aradia getting more alive, because you NAILED it. @iris-in-the-dark-world asked: i am so excited to see aradia again and finally as herself :33<
She's fucking BACK, baby!
Seeing Aradia smiling for real after all this time is genuinely heartwarming - and with her time-stop attack, she's almost unkillable. It'd take some absolute nonsense to take Aradia out of the picture again, and I think she'll be sticking around for a long time. Hopefully forever.
@grippingtraverse asked: notice any similarities during megalovania between aradia vs. jack & sans vs. player? 0u0
The best I can come up with is that Aradia and Frisk are both time travelers whose signature color is red.
Or maybe Jack is the Frisk analogue, since he's the one wiping out all life in the session, and Aradia is the last foe he faces.
@captorations asked: please consider, with this new information about aradia, what it could mean for her literary descendant dulcie septimus. please also keep considering this as you continue and see more of aradia. i am very normal about both of these characters
Ooh, they do have similar vibes, don't they? They're both doomed, they're strongly associated with death, and they both have a cheerful side that comes out when you don't expect it to.
@duorogue asked: "You have to give Nepeta some credit. The literal first thing she did after this traumatic murder was log into Trollian and report on Jack’s activities." To be fair to her, when I have a bad nightmare the first thing I do is log onto discord
nepeta hopping on mic at 2am to complain about the hat man (the hat man is doc scratch)
@absinthe-and-alabaster asked: when the writ keeper was introduced as fifth exile you mentioned that it was a little fucked up how the king was the only prospitian that was preserved - i just wanted to remind you that no, he wasn't ! on page 1974 we see all the other prospitians that were exiled with the white queen on her ship (including ms paint!) WQ just left them to go wander the desert
I'd actually forgotten about that. So much happened during the Act 4 ending that it completely slipped my mind. I even missed Ms. Paint!
Anonymous asked: Hey, as you noticed, the Dave Coin Split is a plot hole. We've never seen the timeline split because of someone's choice before. Compare to John flying to the seventh gate, there weren't two timelines based on his choice, the timeline only changed because Dave came back from the original timeline and changed it. And of course, like you said in the tags, Terezi shouldn't have been able to communicate with Doomed Dave, including to tell him the result of the FL1P. Have you noticed any other plot holes or things that don't seem to make sense?
While I see what you're saying, it might not necessarily be a plot hole! Certainly the Dave Coin Timeline was created in a different manner to Davesprite's - but that might just mean there are multiple ways to split a timeline, or that there are certain requirements that must be fulfilled for a decision to spawn one.
Because of things like that, it's hard to tell whether something's actually a plot hole, or if it'll eventually make sense in light of later reveals.
This is particularly true for aspects of the plot involving time travel, like the one you just described. Like, remember before I learned about Doomed Timelines, when I thought Davesprite broke Homestuck's predestination rules?
Anonymous asked: You said "God Tiering is just another way to inhabit your Dream Self," so do you think the things that Dream Selves can do (such as Jade growing extra arms) can be done by God Tiers?
I never really thought about that!
I think it's definitely possible. God Tier bodies can fly the same way that Dream Selves can, so other powers might transfer, too. Maybe the only reason Vriska, Aradia and John aren't shapeshifters is because Jade hasn't taught them to how to dream up extra limbs.
She might be one of the only Dream Selves who've learned how to shapeshift this fluidly. Logging thousands of hours on Prospit has its perks!

||The Dark Symphony of Hannibal Lecter: Art, Morality, and Madness||
Hannibal Lecter is a character whose depth and appeal lie beyond the typical traits of a fictional serial killer, revealing a fascinating interplay of intellect, aesthetics, and morality that defies simple categorization. To understand why Hannibal endures as such a compelling figure, it’s essential to explore the subtler aspects of his character that have been crafted by Harris and interpreted through various media.
1. The Role of Hannibal as a Mirror to Society’s Morality
Hannibal’s character often serves as a critique of societal norms and hypocrisies. His actions, while abhorrent, are frequently framed as responses to moral failings he observes in others. Lecter’s cannibalism and violence aren’t just gruesome acts but symbolic gestures, often directed at those he perceives as embodying the worst of human behavior—corruption, rudeness, and cruelty. This is particularly evident in his interactions with characters like Mason Verger in *Hannibal*, who represents a grotesque form of human depravity that Hannibal punishes in his own twisted way.
In this sense, Hannibal operates almost as a dark, moral arbiter. He punishes those who violate his personal code, which, while perverse, is consistent and deeply held. Unlike conventional serial killers who act out of compulsion or simple sadism, Hannibal’s murders are methodically planned, often with an almost poetic sense of justice. This positions him as a reflection of society’s own complex relationship with morality—where he becomes both the punisher and the embodiment of humanity’s darkest impulses.
2. The Seductive Appeal of Hannibal’s Aestheticism
Hannibal’s appeal is not just rooted in his intelligence or his transgressions but in his distinct aesthetic sensibility, which sets him apart from other fictional killers. He is portrayed as a connoisseur of fine art, music, literature, and gourmet cuisine—a man who indulges in life’s pleasures to their fullest, including, disturbingly, human flesh. This aestheticism serves to elevate his character beyond mere villainy, making him almost an anti-hero to those who appreciate his refined tastes.
His love for the finer things in life is not just a superficial trait but a form of resistance against the mediocrity and brutality of the world around him. Hannibal’s killings are meticulously designed, reflecting an artist’s touch more than a criminal’s. His culinary preparations are particularly symbolic—transforming his violence into an art form. This portrayal subverts the typical narrative of monstrosity; Hannibal does not revel in chaos but in creating a twisted kind of order. In the TV series, this aspect is emphasized through the cinematography and the presentation of food, which is often shot in a way that is as beautiful as it is disturbing, blurring the line between attraction and repulsion.
3. The Unreliable Narrator: Hannibal as a Construct of Others’ Perceptions
One of the most intriguing aspects of Hannibal’s character is how he is often defined by the perceptions and fears of those around him, rather than by his own narrative. This is particularly evident in *The Silence of the Lambs*, where Hannibal is primarily seen through Clarice Starling’s eyes, and in *Hannibal*, through Will Graham’s troubled psyche. Hannibal becomes a mirror reflecting the traumas, obsessions, and ethical dilemmas of those who seek to understand or contain him.
The portrayal of Hannibal as an almost supernatural figure—omniscient, omnipotent, and uncannily perceptive—owes much to how other characters mythologize him. In many ways, Hannibal is as much a construct of their fears and fascinations as he is a flesh-and-blood character. This narrative device reinforces the idea that Hannibal represents more than just a killer; he embodies the darkest, most repressed aspects of those around him, turning him into a kind of psychological vampire who feeds on others' weaknesses.
4. Hannibal’s Relationship Dynamics: Intimacy Through Power and Influence
The dynamics of Hannibal’s relationships, particularly with Will Graham in the series and Clarice Starling in the book & movies, go beyond the simple hunter-victim trope. Hannibal’s interactions with these characters often blur the lines between adversary, mentor, and confidant, creating an unsettling intimacy that is central to his character. For Hannibal, relationships are power plays—he seeks to mold and influence those he deems worthy of his attention.
With Will Graham, Hannibal’s fascination is almost romantic in its intensity, suggesting a profound connection that goes beyond mere manipulation. Their relationship is marked by a mutual recognition of darkness—Will sees in Hannibal a reflection of his own capacity for violence, while Hannibal finds in Will a kindred spirit who can almost understand him. This twisted symbiosis becomes a central theme, highlighting how Hannibal’s influence extends beyond physical violence into the realm of psychological and emotional control.
Similarly, his relationship with Clarice Starling in *The Silence of the Lambs* is characterized by a complex dance of power and vulnerability. Hannibal’s interest in Clarice goes beyond mere predation; he admires her strength, intelligence, and resilience. Their interactions are marked by a kind of twisted respect, where Hannibal’s aid to Clarice in catching Buffalo Bill is as much about proving his superiority as it is about genuinely guiding her. In both relationships, Hannibal plays the role of a corruptive mentor, blending guidance with manipulation in a way that forces his counterparts to confront their own inner darkness.
5. The Evolution of Hannibal’s Cultural Iconography
Hannibal Lecter has evolved into a cultural icon, transcending his role as a character in novels and films to become a symbol of refined monstrosity. His influence can be seen in how the figure of the cultured, intelligent villain has been adapted and reimagined across various media. This archetype—wherein intelligence and evil coexist in a disturbingly elegant harmony—has shaped countless characters in literature, film, and television.
In the TV series *Hannibal*, Mads Mikkelsen’s portrayal adds a layer of sophistication and subtle menace that diverges from Anthony Hopkins’ more overtly sinister interpretation. The series reimagines Hannibal as an almost mythic figure—charming, inscrutable, and deeply connected to themes of art and existential philosophy. Mikkelsen’s performance emphasizes Hannibal’s sense of detachment from conventional human emotions, presenting him as a being almost beyond human understanding.
Hannibal’s transformation into a mythic figure speaks to his enduring appeal: he is not bound by the typical constraints of villainy but exists as an exploration of humanity’s darker potentials. His character constantly challenges audiences to question the boundaries of morality, the allure of aestheticism, and the nature of power and influence.
Conclusion: Hannibal as a Timeless Figure of Horror and Fascination
Hannibal Lecter’s character endures because he operates on multiple levels: as a terrifying figure of horror, a critic of human frailties, and an unsettling mirror to those who encounter him. His complexity lies not just in his actions but in how he reflects deeper themes of civilization, morality, and the human condition. Hannibal remains a symbol of the dangers lurking beneath the veneer of refinement, a figure who embodies the uncomfortable truth that sometimes the most monstrous are also the most human.

Hi!
I’ve long had the suspicion that many elements of Tom Riddle’s backstory were inspired by The Lord of the Rings, specifically, Gollum.
The stolen trinkets, the boat and the island, the fact that his name is Tom Riddle (Gollum’s Riddle game)… it’s a little silly but once you skim Lord of The Rings with Harry Potter in mind, a hundred images, surnames and themes jump out at you. Deathly Hallows in particular was very LOTR inspired imo so it makes sense that JKR would be drawing from it when writing HBP.
What do you think, oh mightiest of Riddle scholars?
thank you very much for the ask, anon!
i don't back this at all, i'm afraid. there are obviously lots of links to lord of the rings in the harry potter books, some of which - like the cave - are clearly direct references, others which are similar because both series are fantasy literature and therefore governed by the same genre conventions and because of the enormity of lord of the rings' influence on the development of these conventions themselves, but i don't think there's any credible case for this being one of them.
tom riddle/voldemort's narrative purpose - at whichever age and in whichever form he appears in the story - is to be singular. he's the goliath to harry's david: the extraordinary, supernatural, seemingly invincible villain who's defeated by an everyman hero who shouldn't - on paper - be any sort of match for him.
his closest parallel in lord of the rings is sauron, with whom he shares various archetypal characteristics: his arrogance; his greed; his desire for notoriety and fame; his rebellion against some sort of mystical power, community, or norm; his recruitment of others to his cause through flattery and gift-giving; his parasitic use of his followers; his loss of beauty [and his attendant reptilian appearance - although tolkien doesn't use anywhere near as much snake imagery in his writing as jkr]; his only partial destruction due to the concentration of his power in an object; and so on.
his apparently gollum-ish parallels are either coincidental or originate from other sources. the horcruxes mirror the ring, sure, but he is their creator [even if the objects themselves are stolen and hoarded]. the cave is jkr nicking her scene-setting wholesale from the lord of the rings film series as an easy way of conveying the atmosphere she wants the reader to imagine. the use of the word "riddle" has nothing to do with the trope of riddle games [not only as found in the hobbit but as found in lots of folktales], it's because - within the context of chamber of secrets - he's a narrative riddle, and jkr, like lots of children's authors [especially roald dahl, who's an enormous influence on the earlier books], and, of course, like dickens, likes to use "charactonyms" - names which are descriptive of the characters who bear them.
[such as, for example, naming a werewolf "remus lupin"...]
tom riddle appears in chamber of secrets as a red herring, presenting a version of the opening of the chamber which intentionally misleads harry - and, therefore, the reader - towards a false conclusion. or, like a riddle, he appears to have one, very obvious answer, but his true answer is concealed.
[riddle is also - it should be pointed out - a real, albeit rare, surname, and jkr claims to have taken the name tom riddle from the gravestone of a real person, having presumably decided that it would work perfectly for the narrative purpose he serves in chamber of secrets.]
gollum - on the other hand - is a classic cain-and-abel archetype: the jealous man who kills his brother-figure in pursuit of a shot at power, fame, or riches he thinks he deserves, who is then driven out of his family/community group, forced to wander and hide, and ends up aiding the hero - albeit begrudgingly - right at the very end.
and so his closest parallel in the harry potter series is - of course - wormtail.

Nosferatu (2024)

Many things make 1922’s Nosferatu special – the kind of film that still gets referenced over a century later. Among them is that it isn't influenced by any other vampire movie. That's obviously not the case with the 2024 remake but the choices that made the original so striking are here. Stylish, visually striking, ambitious, frightening and memorable, this is a passion project you’re glad came to fruition.
In 1838, realtor Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult) is sent to visit Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård) by his employer, Herr Knock (Simon McBurney). While settling the Count’s purchase of a home in Wisburg, Thomas realizes his host is a vampire. Thomas' wife, Ellen (Lily-Rose Depp) senses her husband's peril but her visions are dismissed as hysteria by her friends Friedrich and Anna Harding (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Emma Corin).
Unlike other vampire movies, 2024's Nosferatu never attempts to depict its monster as sexy. Bill Skarsgård’s character may be lustful but it's a living plague; a rotting corpse that barely passes for human and feeds on the blood of the living. Even that familiar lore aspect is handled differently than you’re used to. We never get a good look at Orlok’s teeth and the bite marks he leaves on his victims are rarely on their necks. The vampire’s design is the most obvious change from previous iterations and at first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. Then, I was reminded of that one portrait we have of Vlad the Impaler. If he actually did become a vampire, this is what he would look like. The idea of this thing coming into your room to feed in the middle of the night gives you chills.
What helps sell the design is the cinematography, frame composition and camerawork. I can’t remember the last time a movie captured the feel of a nightmare this accurately. Once Thomas arrives at Orlok’s castle, we're only given fleeting glimpses of the Count. He’s always in shadows, out of focus, behind something or just off-screen. Despite this, you still feel danger emanating from him. You’re screaming to Thomas “Get out!”. It takes him little time to realize this decrepit castle he's entered is a trap. Then, he accidentally cuts himself. You expect Orlok to jump on him now that blood’s been drawn. Instead, Thomas blacks out and the next shot has him waking up. Simultaneously, you have no idea what happened and you know exactly what horrors took place off-screen.
The dreamlike atmosphere conveys the dangers of Orlok in ways standard narrative techniques couldn't. This is a supernatural monster. Real-world rules don’t apply, which is exactly why it’s such a threat. When Ellen’s doctor, Dr. Wilhelm Sievers (Ralph Ineson) recruits Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz (Willem Dafoe) to help, you expect the situation to get less dire but it barely improves. Everyone - everyone who believes Orlok is a vampire, anyway - merely now understands how doomed they really are. This brings me to the film's one weakness. Our heroes' plan to counter Orlok. It comes from a clumsy and unnatural bit of exposition. The way the vampire's threat escalates and the amount of time the characters spend scrambling for answers may make the pacing feel slow during the middle for some. It didn’t bother me. In fact, it increased the peril I felt because writer/director Robert Eggers doesn’t follow typical horror conventions.
This is a remake made with today’s sensibilities and audiences in mind. Eggers looked at the story and expands on the already-existing characters & events to fill in the gaps. Now we understand why Orlok wants to buy a new home, we understand the relationship between the characters better. All without revealing too much and taking away the fears our imaginations conjure. The film stands on its own just fine but you get even more enjoyment by comparing it to the original and seeing what's been changed.
Aside from a brief scene where information is fed to the characters and audience inorganically, 2024’s Nosferatu could be described as a masterpiece. What this film does with shadows rivals the iconic shots brought to life by F. W. Murnau and cinematographers Fritz Arno Wagner & Günther Krampf. The performances are strong. The way it gets the audience to frighten themselves, combined with its suspense and skin-crawling images are the kind of thing you wish you’d see more often in horror. It’s atypical so it's got no chance of being embraced by all audiences but I hope to see people "take a chance" on Nosferatu. (Theatrical version on the big screen, December 28, 2024)

The French Mistake; Chapter 01
MARCH 12. DAY OF THE CONVENTION.
Freya hurried down the street, her bag hanging from her shoulder and her phone in her hand. She ran down the sidewalk and hurried past the houses, her feet pounding on the stones as she ran to the bus stop. The bus was approaching its next stop, her stop, she swung her free arm in the air and waved the bus down, “Wait! Stop!”
The bus came to a stop and Freya stopped briefly to catch her breath before stepping onto the bus, swiping her bus card and walking past the driver to a free seat. She sat down and sighed, breathing out. Putting her bag onto her lap, she looked outside. Her thin jacket, hung open over her flannel shirt, her brown hair tied into a ponytail. Her pair of jeans, washed and slightly worn, accompanied by a pair of combat boots. It was her very casual cosplay of one of the characters of Supernatural. A mixture of Sam and Dean Winchester. Although weapons weren’t allowed at the convention, not even fake ones, she had made a quick hex bag and put it in her bag. Followed by a replica of the necklace Dean wore in the earlier seasons. The only thing lacking to finish the look off, were Dean’s green eyes. Hers were very much hazel and almost matched the brown hue of her hair.
Freya watched the houses and trees turn into a soft blur as the bus passed them, catching up speed as the bus drove to its next stop. Clearly the bus was late and Freya was happy she managed to catch it before it drove past her. Bus stop after bus stop followed, and Freya was starting to feel butterflies in her stomach. She was starting to get nervous, and she gripped her bag tighter. At the second to last stop, two young-women around her age got on. Freya smiled and waved them both down.
Her two best friends walked past the other people on the bus to Freya, one dressed in a beige trench coat and a white button down shirt, the other clearly representing Dean Winchester. The Khaki green jacket they wore, over the shirt screamed Dean Winchester. Freya smiled, “You made it!”
“Of course we made it! I had to drag this one out of the house though,” the Castiel cosplayer said, pointing their thumb over to the Dean Winchester cosplayer. Freya chuckled.
The Dean cosplayer looked Freya up and down, “Who are you supposed to be?”
Freya straightened her shoulders proudly, “Sam Winchester.”
Macey Taylor, looked at Freya and raised her eyebrow, her light brown hair hanging over her shoulders. She took in Freya’s outfit and said, “You look more like Dean than you do Sam.”
Hollie Watts, dressed up as Castiel, took a step away from Macey and glanced over at Freya. Ever since the convention was announced, Macey and Freya had been at odds with each other. At first, it was a small disagreement over who would dress up as Dean, then it was a over the purchase of the same colored flannel shirt. Hollie had been in between them for days now and absolutely hated it.
She knew Macey was jealous of Freya and even more since Freya’s fan fiction gained traction on Archive of Our Own.
Macey just couldn’t handle it when someone was more popular than her. So far, Hollie had managed to stay in Macey’s shadows. But she knew that one day, she would be free of Macey. And she could finally show the support Freya deserved. In all honesty, in Hollie’s eyes, Macey was a thorn in their side. Festering for years and becoming more toxic day by day.
Freya shrugged, “You won’t be the only Dean Winchester at the convention, you know.”
Macey’s nostrils flared, “That doesn’t mean my best friend can go as him when we agreed I would be Dean.”
Freya swallowed and looked back out of the window, “You’re right. I’m a mix of both, happy?”
Hollie sat down on the seat next to Freya, hoping that by doing so, she could keep them both from jumping at each other’s throats. Freya glanced over at Hollie when Macey wasn’t looking and shot her a small smile. Hollie softly squeezed her hand as if to say: ‘it’s going to be ok’. Everything would be ok, indeed. Just one more year before they could go their separate ways again. Freya’s dorm room called and her roommate, Hollie no less, was the best company she could have wished for at university.
The bus stopped near the convention hall and the three girls got off. Their cosplay of Team Free Will was casual enough to pass in public but looked odd enough to gain a few glances. As the girls neared the convention hall, more eccentric outfits appeared on the street. From anime cosplay outfits with colorful wigs to full video game gear. Freya crossed the street and smiled as she noticed a few Deadpools and a few Sailor Moons. She turned on her heels and waited for her friends. Macey rolled her eyes at Freya’s excitement, but it was Hollie who joined her excitement and hooked her arm in Freya’s. Both walking to the entrance, holding their ticket out to be scanned.
As the doors opened to the convention hall, Freya whistled, “Woah this is huge!” Macey clicked her tongue, “Oh please…” Freya glanced over at Macey and sighed. She ruined her friend’s mood, she was sure of that.
Macey walked past Hollie and Freya and met up with friends she had agreed to say ‘hi’ to at the convention. But, Freya knew they wouldn’t see Macey until the end of the day.
Hollie sighed and looked at Freya, “Let’s go. I noticed they have some of the Supernatural novels at a stand.”
Freya laughed and followed Hollie.
* * *
Hollie looked at the various covers and glanced over at Freya, “Which one do you want to get?”
Freya smiled, “I have no idea. The first one?”
Hollie chuckled and pointed at the cover of ‘Children of Anubis’.
Freya smiled and picked the book up, “I’ll get this one please!” She told the seller across from them. The woman, a 30-year-old ginger, smiled kindly and took the book from Freya’s hands and rang it up. Once Freya had given her the money, the woman handed over the book.
Putting it in her tote bag, Freya smiled and followed Hollie to the small cafeteria area. A few tables were set up, and they were selling all kinds of unhealthy fast-food options. Hollie chose two slices of Pizza and Freya opted for a healthier food option she didn’t notice at first: Penne Pesto. With some cherry tomatoes and mozzarella. The two girls each pulled out a bottle of water and opened it. Hollie poured a bit in a paper cup and took out her ADHD medication. Freya watched her as she washed the tiny white pill down before stuffing her face with cheesy goodness.
Hollie noticed her and raised an eyebrow, “What’s wrong?” Freya shrugged, “I just think Macey won’t be in our lives for much longer. She’s been distant with me a lot lately. Every time I text her, she leaves me on seen or makes up excuses to not answer immediately.”
Hollie put down her slice of pizza on the plastic plate, “Look, I don’t want you to get upset, but Macey has been trying to cut you off and out of our little group for weeks. Months, even.”
Freya felt her stomach drop and put down the little carton box of pasta, “What?”
Hollie let out a sigh, “Macey told me in confidence that she doesn’t like you. That’s me putting it mildly. I don’t know her reasoning, since we have been inseparable since High School, but she has been texting me a lot lately. Whining and complaining about you.”
Freya stood up from the table, feeling tears pricking in her eyes, “Excuse me, I need to pee.”
She grabbed her tote bag and walked away. Hollie yelled after her, but Freya hurried away and found some peace and quiet in a corner of the ginormous hall. She slid down the wall and sat down in the corner, picking the book out from her bag. As tears silently rolled over her cheeks, she briefly hugged the book. Hoping to find peace by hugging the book was futile, since Freya knew it was just a book. She wiped her tears away, cleared her throat and opened the book.
As she began reading, she noticed a crackling sound in front of her. At first, it was quiet, but it grew louder the more she read. She looked up from the page and noticed a glowing orange tear. She recognized the tear and closed the book. She slowly stood up and with her tote bag across her shoulder, she reached out towards the tear. No way it was real, right? There was no way this was happening.
She inched closer, and before she could scream, she felt a pull and heard a soft thud in the distance before everything turned black.

Best of 2024: Favorite Malayalam Films
January 5, 2025
by Inakshi Chandra-Mohanty
1. Bramayugam
A low-caste singer escaping persecution stumbles upon a desolate mansion containing mysterious secrets in this vintage horror drama. Shot entirely in black and white, to reflect the centuries old period and amplify the light/dark disparities, Bramayugam is a masterpiece in cinematic expression. Visual storytelling is at the heart of this film. The meticulous frames, brooding background score, and a menacing performance by Mammootty, build an ominous atmosphere. Like writer-director Rahul Sadasivan's previous supernatural thriller, Bhoothakalam, this film doesn’t rely on cliched horror elements and instead operates in a slow burn fashion, the dread, the terror gradually growing until we find ourselves trapped in the home’s existence.
But the horror in the film isn’t just the fear of the mystical elements that haunt this ancient home. It’s the horror of human evils, such as greed for power and caste/class discrimination. A mythical beast and frequent jump scares cannot combat the fear of an aristocratic lord with disdain for those below him. And it is in this blend of imaginary horror with real atrocities that Bramayugam scores.
2. Aattam
12 angry men…and a woman. This is an apt tagline for the acclaimed Malayalam psychological drama, Aattam, winner of best feature film at the 70th National Film Awards. In an amateur jury deliberation setup, a nod to the acclaimed Hollywood courtroom drama, the members of a theatre group convene in a debate after their sole actress is molested by one of the twelve men. The congregation comprises of a variety of different personalities from the un-believers to those seemingly concerned to the image prioritizing individuals. But one thing is common. All downplay the serious nature of the act and none of them are as they seem.
The film is both a whodunnit and a thought-provoking commentary. It builds suspense through slow reveals about each character as the day progresses, but also subtly portrays society’s ingrained patriarchy. It’s a perfect counter to those parading the tag of ‘Not All Men’. Most of these men aren’t openly misogynistic or dismissive, but their support is conditional. We see how perspectives shift and accusations amount in this stark representation of the hypocrisy of men that ultimately leaves women ally-less.
3. Ullozhukku
The saas-bahu relationship is one of the most negatively stereotyped in Indian media. Hence, it is always refreshing to see content that delves deeper into the fractured foundation of this bond, showing how deep-rooted patriarchal notions create complexities between women living in the same household. In Ullozhukku, Leelamma and Anju, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, are forced to confront secrets that question the basis of their relationship as they attempt to bury a loved one amidst raging floods in Kerela. The title translating to ‘undercurrent’, represents both the watery atmosphere and the underlying feelings they are unable to express openly.
Relying heavily on powerhouse performances by Urvashi and Parvathy, writer-director Christo Tomy presents a poignant character study of two women stuck in a limbo between convention and rebellion. Through meticulous frames and nuanced conversation, he makes us privy to the pent up frustration and sadness within each woman that leisurely surfaces due to the external pressure of unfortunate circumstances. The release of these emotions translates into a journey towards freedom. Freedom from the roles they inhabit, freedom from society’s expectations, and freedom from the forced ties between them. As the facades lower, and communication increases, they develop a newfound bond of empathy, love, trust, and respect. Female characters are so rarely portrayed in such a layered fashion on screen. That combined with the unconventional take on a constantly cliched relationship, makes Ullozhukku one of the most impactful films to release this year.
4. Kishkindha Kaandam
A missing gun, a missing child, a newlywed couple, and a befuddled father-in-law, interlink in Kishkindha Kaandam, a mysterious psychological drama. Written by Bahul Ramesh and directed by Dinjith Ayyathan, this thoughtful, haunting exploration of guilt follows shifting family dynamics and uncomfortable revelations when an outsider enters an isolated household situated in the middle of a monkey-inhabited forest reserve area. Appu Pillai, Ajayan, and Aparna, the three central characters of this tale, represent the three wise monkeys, seeing and unseeing, hearing and unhearing, speaking and unspeaking, as troubling secrets pour out.
The film’s greatest strength is its genre bending capabilities. Within a thrilling atmosphere, it offers a heartwarming family drama. While the suspense and plot twists are exciting, it is the emotional depth of each character that creates an indelible mark. Our ability to empathize with these flawed human beings on many different levels is vital to the impact of the story’s reveals and leaves us with a wistful feeling long after. That’s why, the lesser you know going in the better. The characters are built so well that even a hint of their past or future actions will ruin the experience. I went into Kishkindha Kaandam blind and so should you.
5. Aavesham
When I saw ‘re-introducing Fahadh Faasil’ in the opening credits of Aavesham alongside all the new actor intros, I wondered how a seasoned, critically acclaimed actor like him could do anything remarkably different. But, by the end of the film, it became clear why the tag was there. And that tag is the sole reason that this film is amongst the best of the year. In this quirky action comedy, three students befriend a gangster to get revenge on their violent college seniors. The gangster, Ranga, brought to life by Fahadh Faasil, is an eccentric, invigorating character, that carries the entire film on his shoulders.
In this positive, entertaining ride, personality rules over story. The thin narrative has little depth to offer, but the exuberant characters and their gripping interactions overshadow the flaws. The trio of Aju, Bibi, and Shanthan are delightful to watch as they pursue their mission with a mixture of laughter, fear, and false bravado. But it is Ranga, with his silly antics, energetic aura, and memorable catchphrase ‘eda mone’, that becomes the life of the film. With an intricately woven backstory that seems more fiction than reality when his aids recount it, and his constant mood switches between friendly human and menacing gangster, Ranga is an intriguing individual. Aavesham shows that a strong plot is not always necessary to make a good movie. Sometimes it’s just the fun of watching unusual characters and their wacky histrionics. And in this case, it is Fahadh Faasil’s show from start to finish.
6. Paradise
One of the most important films to come out of the Malayalam industry this year is the politically charged, Paradise. With the 2022 Sri Lankan socio-economic crisis serving as a backdrop, the story follows a tourist couple, Kesav and Amritha, whose romantic getaway is cut short after an unexpected event escalates tensions between locals and the police. Written and directed by acclaimed Sri Lankan filmmaker/activist, Prasanna Vithanage, known for his issue-based cinema, the film authentically recreates the troubled environment and emotions engulfing the Sri Lankan citizens at that time, the local spirit adeptly represented through the trio of Mr. Andrew, Shree, and Iqbal, the couple’s hosts.
The screenplay cleverly draws parallels with the Ramayana as it explores themes of human nature under crisis, amidst cultural insensitivity and class divides. Kesav and Amritha enter the country in an idyllic bubble, witnessing the turmoil in their periphery, but mentally and physically far removed from the action. However, the external pressure swiftly takes a toll on their marriage forcing them to make choices that reveal their inner morality. Paradise skillfully shows how politics can subtly breakdown a relationship, building up the tension between the two lead characters as the unrest around them grows, ultimately leading to an explosive climax that forces us to ponder upon the inexplicable actions we take in adversity.

Author’s Note: just pretend that each of the shows/movies she's been in took place one after the other instead of going on at the exact same time.

x
Jared and Jensen have a few minutes alone before their panel. Jared is snacking on whatever they provided them with while Jensen is sitting on the couch browsing on his phone. Jared has his wife on FaceTime as he is stuffing his face, and she laughs at the food dripping from his mouth.
“Baby, why can’t you eat normally?”
“What? I’m hungry,” he says, more food spewing from his mouth.
“Our kids eat better than you,” she chuckles.
“Jen, tell her I eat normally.” Jared turns to his friend but Jensen isn’t listening to a word he’s saying. He has one of his Airpods in watching a video. “Are you guys coming to the panel?”
“Yeah, we’re just exploring right now.”
“Hi, Daddy!” Odette smiles and jumps into the frame.
“Hey, sweetheart. I’ll see you soon, okay?”
“Okay. Say bye!”
All three of his kids say bye just before Gen hangs up on him. Jared finishes eating his snack before walking over to his friend. He takes a seat next to him to see what video he’s watching and smirks when he sees you on the screen.
“So, what do you want to do when the panel is over? What section of the convention do you want to visit?” Jared asks knowing Jensen isn’t listening.
He’s too invested in the video of you doing press for your new Marvel movie. You play the elusive Black Widow in all of the Marvel films, and you just got done filming your own solo movie. You’ve done some press for the movie even before it comes out to prepare people for what to expect and things of that nature.
“You’re obsessed with her,” Jared chuckles.
“Shut up, I’m not,” Jensen barks. “I’m just an admirer of her movies.”
“You have posters of her locked away in your collection.”
Jensen slaps his friend on the chest and continues watching the video. It’s true, Jensen has a major crush on you not only for Black Widow but for every role you’ve ever done. You’ve played Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, Katherine and Elena in The Vampire Diaries, and so much more. You’re such a talented person that acting is like second nature to you. You can do almost any role you’ve ever landed, and you’ve won a lot of awards for it which you’re proud of.
“Damn, look at her. She’s gorgeous,” Jensen says with metaphorical hearts in his eyes. Jared laughs and Jensen shakes his head. “I’m sorry, I have a major crush on this woman. What are you gonna do about it?”
“We’re about to do a panel. Come on.”
Jensen and Jared get ready to go out on stage. All their fans cheer for them when they make an appearance. Jared scans the audience to see his wife there with her phone pointed at him. He nods once and turns to Jensen knowing his wife is getting this on video.
“Alright, any questions?” Jared asks. A lot of hands go up in the air, and he points to the person whom Gen gestures. “What’s your name?”
“Elisa. I’m such a huge fan of both of you. My question is for Jensen. I watched a video you did talking about the actress Y/N. She just finished her movie Black Widow. Is it true you have a crush on her?”
Everyone cheers for this question but quiets down to give Jensen an opportunity to answer. His entire face reddens at the question and becomes extremely conscious of what he’s wearing, what he’s saying, and how he’s behaving as if you’re in the room.
“Wow, there’s a lot to unpack here. Look, she’s gorgeous, I’m not gonna lie. If she were standing in front of me now, I don’t think I’d form complete sentences. So, yes, I have a crush on her.”
Everyone laughs at how shy he’s becoming, and Gen looks at the person she’s on FaceTime with.
“He’s so cute,” you chuckle through the screen. “Very charming.”
You’re a really good friend of the Padalecki family. You met Gen through a non-profit organization she was funding a while back and became fast friends with her. She and Jared welcomed you into their family immediately but it was never known to Jensen that you knew them.
“Just wait until you meet him in person.”
“Isn’t it true that there is still an opening for that female character on their show?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m in between projects right now. I’d be happy to audition if you want to bring that to Jared.”
“I’ll have him hook you up,” Gen smirks.
“Is that Y/N?” Shep asks and forces his face into the frame.
“Hey, Shep,” you grin.
Supernatural is about to start filming its eleventh season which means the director is desperate to fill the role of Dean’s love interest. Jared brought you up as an option, the director had you audition, and you were offered the part before leaving the building to go home. Jensen still doesn’t know that you were the one who was offered the role, just that the position had been filled.
“Isn’t it a bit suspicious that we haven’t met this new person?” Jensen asks.
“Talk to the director, dude.” Jared gets a call from the director and answers it with a smile. “Hey. Are you here? … Perfect. I’ll be right there.”
“Whose that?”
“Gen is here. I gotta go. I’ll be right back.”
Jared leaves before Jensen can ask any other questions. He meets up with you and the director who is waiting for him on the other side of the set.
“Jared!” you grin and give him a friendly hug. “Working together is going to be so fun.”
You’re not sure how long you’ll be on the show, but you hope it’s going to last years.
“Is he ready?”
“He’s practicing his lines right now.”
Jared escorts you to the main set where Jensen is. He’s already in his Dean clothes since they are scheduled to film right now. His back is turned to you when you enter the room so you think this is the perfect opportunity to scare him. He is holding a prop gun and muttering his lines when you jump in front of him. He yelps and drops the gun as you let out an infectious laugh.
“What?” he stutters when he sees you.
“Hi, I’m Y/N,” you grin and hold out your hand for him. Jensen is a stuttering mess but shakes your hand nonetheless. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“She’s going to play your new love interest,” Jared says and slaps him on the back lightly.
“It’s going to be so much fun working with you.”
“Yeah, same here,” Jensen manages to get out. “Excuse me for a second.” He brings Jared off to the side to talk to him privately. “What the hell? Did you know about this?”
“Yeah, she’s a family friend.”
“How did I not know this?”
“I’m good at keeping secrets when I want to,” he chuckles.
“I can’t believe I’m going to be in the same room as her.”
“You’re welcome,” Jared smirks and pats his back.
Jared walks away just as you approach Jensen.
“I hope you’re okay with me being here.”
“More than okay,” he smiles shyly. I love your movies. You’re an amazing actress.”
“Thank you,” you smile. “I love this show. Dean just so happens to be my favorite character.”
That makes Jensen blush. Over the next couple of months, you’ve been filming with the boys as much as you can. It’s been nothing but fun especially when you participate in their pranks on Misha. You and Jensen are growing closer, more than you ever thought you would. He’s super nice, sweet, charming, and very sexy. He’s everything a girl would want in a man. This was inevitable, but you got to the part in your onscreen relationship where your characters share a kiss. He’s super nervous as are you since you both have feelings for one another.
“Dean, I don’t know why you’re bugging out. The hunt went exactly as planned,” your character says as you unpack your duffel bag.
“You got hurt. How is that exactly as planned?”
“We got the bad guy. Isn’t that what matters?”
“Not at the cost of your life! How could you think so little of it?”
“Dean, it’s just a scratch. I’ve gotten worse wounds than this.”
“God, you’re not getting it,” he scoffs.
“What? Please explain to me how you’re feeling.”
“It’s your life! No monster is worth that. You’re too important to me.” Jensen walks over to you and cups your jaw. The moment is so intense, so intimate. “I can’t lose you.”
“You won’t lose me. I’m right here,” you whisper.
You two stare into your eyes right before he smashes his lips on yours. He isn’t kissing you like how Dean would, he’s kissing you like how he would. The kiss is supposed to be short and sweet but Jensen keeps it going as long as he can. Your lips mold with his perfectly as if you were meant to be doing this your whole life.
The director yells CUT and Jensen pulls away from you slightly. He cheers at getting it on one take, and you step back from him with a nervous chuckle.
“Good job you two! Take ten everyone!”
“Listen, if you ever want to practice lines or… other things, you’re more than welcome to come to my trailer. You know, practice makes perfect.”
“I’ll make sure to take you up on that offer,” he smirks.
And practice did make perfect. After hearing the story of how you met Jenson yet again, both your daughters clap happily.
“Tell the story again!” your six-year-old giggles.
“Again!” your four-year-old laughs after her sister.
“Not tonight, girls,” you grin and kiss both their heads.
“Go to sleep. We’ll see you in the morning,” Jensen says.
You and Jensen leave their room and close the door gently. Jensen brings you into his arms and you wrap your arms around his neck.
“Landing that role has been the best thing to ever happen to me,” you whisper to him.

Hudson and Rex S01E13 - The Rex Files
This is one of their good title puns lol. And a good episode, although as it happens often on this show, not exactly season material. It's also crazy that we can't agree on which is the season finale for S1. Anyway, IMDb and my copies say this one.
Charlie just took that car crash case just because Rex's nose said so.
Charlie: Joe, this case, I like it. Can I have it, pretty please?

Oh, it will only get worse from here, Joe.

I bet Charlie is thinking, "I had to pick the weird one" right about now. And I don't mean Jesse.
If Charlie didn't get the dead judge case that Sarah has been assigned to on forensics, then which detective did it go to? We don't have a better detective in the SJPD, do we?

Stop flirting over the evidence for one second challenge.
I think this is a good time to mention that "supernatural" cases on crimes shows are awesome and there should be more of them.

Just one of the many times we almost got blown up. No biggie.

And then he tells Sarah he knows her lunch order.

That's one way to trigger Star Wars fans and Trekkies with one move. Charlie, you little shit.

Just some quality dog content.
Song intermission past the halfway mark. For no reason other than to show the city of St. John's lol
We already got to the point where Joe has to order Charlie to go home. Just think of poor Rex!

We were stuck on that shot for like a minute. Is it some kind of watch advertisement? Editing department, I'll never get you.
Charlie chastising Jesse for splitting with Tyler. I mean, he's right. If this was a horror movie, Tyler would be dead. Now, he's just kidnapped.
"In the future, dogs might be our first line of defense against the inevitable alien invasion". Well, that's a thing... that was said... on this show.
Charlie might have initially chastised Jesse but afterwards he is way more gentle as he sees that Jesse blames himself for Tyler's disappearance.

I'm sorry, what about three men poring over files is cool, Sarah?
Okay, I've seen way too many times that even when Charlie and Rex are chasing someone and they're pressed for time, Charlie would still open the car door for Rex and lose precious seconds. I don't think that ever happened in the original. And given that I've see that Diesel can clearly jump in and out of the car from the car window, I don't know why they keep doing this.
There was a lot of running in this episode.
Oh, girl, why would you let a man take credit for you work? And then murder him for it? And then confess all of that before asking for a lawyer?

Geek convention.

Ask Me Asks: 5, 7,& 14 <3
5. What’s something most people love that you hate?
There's obvious "unpopular popular" media (Taylor Swift, MCU, etc), but I feel like the spirit of this question is more like "what is something popular on Tumblr that you don't like." Although honestly apparently for me "dislike" comes across as ragingly hateful, which says more about me than anything, and is probably why I try to keep things I dislike under wraps.
I guess Supernatural might work. It's not so much hate as kind of bafflement with how devoted the fandom is to reading it as queer media - often to the exclusion of other queer media. The urgency of this belief is only equaled by the same behavior from Taylor Swift fans.
7. If you could create ANY mix-up or mythical animal and have it be brought to life, what would it be?
Probably the Sphinx. A real life sphinx would create mass confusion and chaos, probably. Or get shot dead in like a week.
14. What’s the nicest compliment you’ve ever been given?
Compliments are difficult for me, and not entirely in the standard "I'm not worth it" way. If there was a way to take everything I ever did that ever helped anyone in some way, and make it all completely anonymous, I would take that. I wish it was easier to send people money anonymously because I like it when good things happen for people from nowhere.
I also tend to remember behavior more than words, so I guess one is this author I knew / sometimes still talk to, who used to call me The Fabulist because of my writing, and was one of the most metaphysically intense people I've ever known. There was a brief period where it seemed like she wanted to marry me, which would not have worked, but it's hard to explain quite what it feels like to have someone who, for lack of a better description, is constantly putting out nuclear blast levels of psychic shockwaves, who thinks of you as some kind of archetypal entity.
The other I think is how much help our household got from Tumblr when we had the fire. It was something I still have trouble wrapping my head around. I guess those aren't conventional compliments, but they stick in my mind as things which made me I guess confused at the way other people see me.

Missing CHICON 2008 footage found!
For those who saw my request for help finding CHICON 2008 footage for my Enhanced Edition Con Video project, I just wanted to share my gleeful news that it has been found!
I decided to make one more attempt at the search. I again failed to turn up any new videos, but I did run back across an old LiveJournal post from AgtSpooky. They'd attended the convention and provided a download link for their videos, but the link was long dead and they were no longer active on LJ.
I'd seen it before, but I'd written it off as yet more old footage forever lost to time, just like all those frustrating dead links on Supernatural Wiki's convention pages. This time I did a little more digging and I managed to track down some contact info through a series of bread crumbs they'd left on various web sites. I've tried to reach out to a few other fans before but I've never had any success, so I didn't have very high hopes.
However, this time I actually received a response! You've never seen a computer mouse move as fast as mine did when I glanced at my in-box and noticed the e-mail. They very graciously sent me their videos from the main CHICON 2008 panels and gave me permission to use them. And they have all the pieces I was missing. Finally, after a week of repeatedly hearing Jared's panel open up with a fan saying "I know, and I almost was one too", I finally know what the fan almost was. 🤣 (I'll leave y'all to speculate on that one until I post the video. Your speculation will be more entertaining than the reality.)
The videos upscaled nicely and I'll probably use them in several other places aside from just filling in my original gaps. They were shot from a different angle than the other videos, so that gives me more options. It also helps a lot with the subtitling when I have videos from people who were in different sections of the audience because the surrounding noise levels will vary.
This definitely made my day, so I just had to share because I know a few of you will understand. :)
