AHHHH! I'm so stoked to finally be able to show yall this!
I signed up for my first bang and happened to get paired up with a really special Fandom friend to me, Samanddean76 ! I did the art for her awesome story, "A Fistful of Sammy's" , AO3 link to her story here~
Tumblr media
Without spoiling too much for you guys, imagine multiverse and multiple timelines with several Sams, Deans, all of them meeting, multiple ship pairings, and yummy smut! God, this story really has it all! Angst, drama, plot, fluff, joy, tragedy... It's easily one of my favorite fics I've read! That's what I tried to convey in the cover banner above! This banner and all the following art were done with various photo editing, drawing, and photoshop apps to achieve the desired look!
.
For chapter headers, I tried to do a photo representation of a sort of "chapter summary," highlighting the main focus of each chapter! I also made them cohesive with the cover art...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then perhaps my favorite bits of art from this is the page breaks! They are just so aesthetically pleasing, tattoo worthy! I took important weapons from the show, and turned them into "pencil art" style sketches.
Tumblr media
Since Tumblr only allows 10 photos per post, I had to put them in a collage. If you wanna see them in full scale, check them out on my AO3 Master Post, here!
And then last but not least, a link to the author's tumblr post here!
Go read this fic, guys! You won't regret it! Sal is an amazing author! I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to work with her in this bang! My first bang experience was amazing because of her!

RE: This ask on fanfic, fandom, and lestappen
(preface with, I love fanfic and fandom, and I've written for very big and small)
I have never experienced such bad fandom etiquette as I have with 1633. I wrote one multi chapter fic for the ship and 99% of ao3 comments I got were people asking when I'd publish the next chapter, which has always been a big no no in fandom. I deleted the fic because it felt bad that people didn't want to engage with what I had written, but, just ask about my update schedule. Also, people changing the date of their published fic to be more recent, so, it appears at the top of the 'recently updated page'! I have never seen this in any fandom before now! AO3 isn't Instagram! If you tag correctly, people will find your fic if they want to read it.
People are pushing 1633 constantly in very public spaces like Twitter, Insta and TikToK, where we know these drivers have accounts and look at comments/posts about them or on their own posts. Just today on Twitter I see Dan Howell (which what a fucking weird intersection of my past and current interests) being asked at a public panel about lestappen, just because he's mentioned liking F1 in the past. I know it gets easy clicks and engagement because it is popular. But, it's so far removed from behaviour that was ever considered acceptable in fandom.
I remember, back in 2013/14 there was a huge backlash to people bringing up fictional ships to actors/writers. There was discourse after every Supernatural or Teen Wolf fan forum/con panel when someone would inevitably ask about Destiel or Sterek. People would argue whether fanon and ships were appropriate to ask the real people behind the show about.
RPF is fine, I have written, currently write and will continue to engage in RPF spaces. But, there are boundaries that you must keep if you are going to engage with it. Tumblr and AO3 have always been considered locked fandom spaces. If a person goes onto these sites and searches themselves out, that's on them. But, it's implied in fandom that you keep to just these spaces or private chats
(personally, I'm sad I just missed out on the livejournal days... I got into fandom when everything was being moved over from there and fanfic.net onto ao3)
I understand younger social media users are used to an algorithm finding content for them. And on sites like Tumblr where the algorithm sucks or ao3, which doesn't have one. You have to search out the content you want yourself. Liking and kudos isn't enough, you actually have to engage in meaningly conversations and comments if you want to make friends. That can be scary! But, it's a soft skill that is slowly getting lost and with it fandom etiquette is going down the drain.
This is like...one of the last big serious ask I want to reply to on this topic because not everyone agrees with me (which, fine), but OP you put a lot of time into typing this up so I will honour that.
I think fandom, much like a lot of other things nowadays, have become less about fun and more about hitting a certain number of likes and interactions. That's why people push Lestappen on other social media even though most of us have explicitly said "can you not, thanks". The changing the date of the fic to push to an 'algorithm' infuriates me and is a personal pet peeve of mine. There's one that's doing that now on the Lestappen tag and I've point-blanked refused to read it literally BECAUSE of the date changing. People will read your fic if they want to, constantly pushing it to the top of the 'Date Updated' list does nothing except piss people off.
I will say I think the fictional ship discourse of 2014 was maybe driven in part by the fact that being gay was still seen as something much more 'novel' than even now. If we think about when marriage became legal in the US and all that...I still think though that it shows a level of self-awareness and self-regulation that we've lost in fandom. As my partner and I often to lament to each other, we've become so individualistic that people have lost the concept of shame. It's an idea that YOU are the exception and something should cater to YOU, instead of the other way round. In the case of fandom, this comes out as people acknowledging fandom etiquette in an abstract way, but still logging into their twitter account (WITH THEIR FACES ATTACHED! WHICH! THIS IS A TANGENT BUT IT BAFFLES ME! WHAT HAPPENED TO DIGITAL FOOTPRINT!) and posting about RPF. Fandom is not an abstract entity, fandom IS the people that interact with it–from authors to artists all the way to those who consume the content.
Also, I also JUST missed out on the lj days–the great migration was happening just when I was getting involved in fandom and I can't help but feel like I missed out on something special.

Shared Love
Jenneel x reader
*this is a work of fiction. I do not usually write RPF but I couldn’t get this out of my head*
TMZ Breaks the News: Jensen and Danneel Ackles in a Threesome with The Walking Dead Star
In a shocking twist of events, popular actor Supernatural Jensen Ackles and his wife, Danneel, have been spotted kissing well-known actress Y/N YLN from The Walking Dead. The scandalous photos, obtained exclusively by TMZ, show the trio sharing a passionate embrace in a secluded location.
Fans of both shows are reeling from the unexpected revelation. Many are expressing disbelief and shock, while others are speculating about the full nature of their relationship. Some fans are questioning the traditional norms of monogamy, while others are expressing concern about the impact this news may have on the actors' careers.
Fan Reactions:
@SupernaturalFan123: "I can't believe this! Jensen and Danneel are my favorite couple. I hope this is just doesn’t blow up in their faces."
@TWDAddict: "Wow, this is a lot to take in. I'm happy for Y/N because the Ackles are beautiful but I'm also a little disappointed in Jensen and Danneel."
@JDMFan: "I'm not judging, but this is definitely a choice. I wonder how Jared and Misha feel about this."
@OpenRelationshipAdvocate: "I'm actually kind of excited about this. It's great to see people exploring different relationship dynamics."
@WorriedFan: "I hope this doesn't ruin their careers. They're all such talented actors."
The Ackles themselves first started dating in 2008, then marrying in 2010 and currently have one child together. This is the not first time that the three have been photographed together, they have been known to be friends since the three met at Comic Con two years before, but never in a scandalous embrace. Fans are left stunned by the unexpected revelation.
A day later, Jensen, Danneel, and Y/N took to Instagram to confirm the news. In a joint post, they revealed that they had been dating for several months and had kept their relationship private to just their close friends and family.
"We understand that this might be surprising to some, but we hope that our fans will respect our decision to be open about our relationship," they wrote. "We are all very happy and in love, and we appreciate the support we have received."
The announcement was met with a mixed reaction. While some fans were supportive, others were skeptical and expressed concerns about the unconventional nature of their relationship.
While the news may come as a surprise to many, close friends of the couple, including Jared Padalecki, Norman Reedus, and Lauren Cohan, who admitted to being the one to introduce the three to each other, have expressed their full support for their decision. Jared, in particular, has been a strong advocate for open relationships and has often spoken about the importance of communication and trust in a healthy partnership.
The news has sparked a wider conversation about the changing nature of relationships in Hollywood and the increasing acceptance of non-traditional relationship structures. Some have argued that celebrities should be free to live their lives as they see fit, while others have raised concerns about the potential for exploitation and coercion within polyamorous relationships.
The public will be keeping a close eye on this new development, waiting to see what will happen next.

Fandom Lexicon: R
We’re in the home stretch on updates to our main fandom lexicon! Today, check out the entries starting with “R”!
View the entire Fandom Lexicon posted to date.
See something we missed? Notice a mistake? Let us know!
Lexicon Entries Starting with R: (read more)
RACK: Abbreviation for “risk-aware consensual kink.” A term used by members of the BDSM community who engage in more dangerous power-exchange activities to emphasize the importance of being educated about the risks associated with that activity before engaging in it. See also: PRICK. Read more about RACK.
Ravatar: On Ravelry chat boards, a person’s avatar is often called their “ravatar” as a joke on the name of the platform. See avatar.
RB: Abbreviation for “reverse bang” or “reblog.”
Re: [Thing]: Shortened way of saying “In reply to [Thing]/As regards [Thing].” On social media, Re: precedes discussion of [thing], usually as a means of circling back to [thing] after talking about something else or to make it clear that a point being made is directly related to a specific previous thing that has been mentioned.
Reader Insert: Stories written so the reader might imagine themselves as the protagonist. Often use Y/N or YN (both short for “your name”) to refer to the protagonist. Reader inserts are tagged as “Reader” on AO3, for example: Reader/(Character). May also be referred to as “x reader” fics. Read more about read inserts.
Reblog: Tumblr lingo that refers to sharing a post written by another blog using the “reblog” function, which ensures the content remains connected to the original blog. Not to be confused with a repost.
Rec List: Shortened form of “recommendation list.” Like a mixtape of the creator’s favorites in a given category. Could be fanfic, movies, books, TV shows, blogs to follow, etc. There is no upper or lower limit on how many things can be in a reclist. Can be very specific (e.g. only works featuring a precise trope of a specific ship in a specific fandom) or very broad (e.g. “my favorites”).
Redacted: A term that means the previous text has been removed for Reasons (specified or unspecified). Within fandom, this is typically used facetiously to refer to information that fans are not supposed to know (or not supposed to share), assumptions that may or may not be correct, unpopular or controversial opinions, or simply for the laughs. Read more about redaction.
Reddit: A forum-esque social media platform. Visit reddit.
Remix: Mixing up the elements of a source material. Fandom usage can refer to art, writing, video edits, music, or pretty much any other media imaginable.
Repost: Copying an original post (most often artwork – including photographs – or animated gifs) and posting it to one’s own blog, rather than using the reblog function. When done without permission, this is a form of content theft. When done with permission and credit, it’s fine. Don’t take other people’s hard work without asking! Not to be confused with a reblog, retweet, or other platform-based forms of post-sharing.
Reverse Bang: A collaborative creation event in which artists create an art piece and write a small amount about it to offer guidance, then writers sign up to write a story for that piece, usually with a minimum length of at least 5,000 words. See also: big bang, creation challenge.
RN: Abbreviation for “right now.”
RPF: Abbreviation for “real person fic.” Fanworks about people who actually currently are alive or have been alive in the past, rather than about fictional/made-up characters. A lot of RPF involves shipping real people together. Sports fandoms and bandoms are big, popular examples of RPF communities, and it’s also common for lead actors who play popular fictional ship characters to get shipped together (for example, the actors Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins from Supernatural who play Dean Winchester and Castiel, the very popular ship Destiel, are also often shipped together as the popular RPF ship Cockles). Read more about RPF.
RPG: Abbreviation for “roleplaying game.” A game in which individuals create characters or play a game-assigned character and play the role of that character throughout. RPGs can be played via any venue/channel/platform that allows individuals to interact with each other or with a gaming system. See also: JRPG, MMORPG, TTRPG (pending).
RPS: Abbreviation for “real person shipping.” See RPF.
RT: Abbreviation for “retweet” on Twitter or “retoot” on Mastodon.
Rubberduck Debugging: Explaining a problem to an unresponsive target in order to identify and fix the origin of that problem. Originates from The Pragmatic Programmer. Read more about rubberducking.
The Rules of the Internet: The Rules of the Internet is a loose, unofficial list originally spawned from 4chan. The list is memetic and subject to change, and a few specific rules have been widely adopted in fandom. Read more about the Rules of the Internet. Rules most often mentioned in fandom spaces:
Rule 34: If it (whatever “it” is) exists, there is porn of it. No exceptions.
Rule 35: If there is no porn of it, porn will be made of it.
Rule 36: No matter how fucked up “it” is, there is always worse than what you just saw.
Rule 63: For every male character, there is a female version of that character, and for every female character, there is a male version of that character, and there will always be porn about both versions of that character. This is by far the most widely spread Rule in most fandom spaces, and “rule 63” is a common tag used on content of this type. See also: genderbend, genderswap.
Rule 64: There is lore for everything that exists.
Rule 65: If there isn’t lore yet, there will be imminently.
Rule 66: The longer a piece of lore is, the weirder it will get.

what is spm mpreg
My friend. My buddy. My pal. My sweetheart.
What is spn mpreg?
I am so glad you asked!
The answer awaits you... right under the cut 😘
Way back when, when the land was lawless and tumblr was a hopeful place, there was a show called
✨Supernatural✨
This show was beloved by many on the still budding hellsite and beyond! It was the show du jur, the universal blorbo. It was the hottest thing and everybody watched it! Nowadays, you will find but ruins of its former glory but I was there, Anon. I saw it with my own two eyes.
The show itself was about two brothers, Sam and Dean, held together by bonds of trauma formed through shared hardship, who would go on adventures and defeat evils for the good of humanity. Until...
Dean, beloved older brother and sweetheart of many on the internet, perished. The circumstances are irrelevant but oh, was it tragic. Fangirls wept across the planet as one and nobody knew what was going to happen.
But, oh! A sudden change in direction! All of a sudden, Dean was being pulled up by an angelic hand, resurrected like Jesus before him! An impact so strong, so intense it left a permanent mark on his body which the writers never forgot about, ever! Dean Winchester was reborn and all rejoiced for it was Right.
But whoever was the mysterious being that had gripped him tight and raised him from perdition? It didn't take long for the show to explore this and oh my, did it get explored! The answer, of course, was Castiel, and angel of the lord who would henceforth devote himself to Dean and only Dean.
Thus, Destiel was born.
Tumblr media
On another platform though, the well respected and important LiveJournal, there were Things abrewing. One of the many things prevalent in the Supernatural (or SPN for short) fandom was the RPF.
As you may know, or you might not, RPF stands for Real Person Fiction, it is similar to the traditional fanfiction but with "characters" who are not characters at all but based on human beings. Despite this, it occasionally features fantastical elements, AUs and other such things.
One user on what we used to call a "kink meme", a place for fans to inspire each other by pawning off ideas, suggested a very particular such RPF. The result took elements from existing tropes such as the heat fic, a longstanding gift from the house of Star Trek, as well as (alleged) wolf behaviour as described in one singular study.
The unholy concoction we were gifted that day is now known as Omegaverse or ABO. Within this trope, there are additional axes to the gender spectrum - but not in a fun, non-binary way! Rather, all humans will fall strictly into one of three categories: Alpha, Beta and Omega.
Alphas are strong and dominant. They can impregnate people regardless of agab and go into ruts. They also have a 💦knot💦 that will fix their penis in a hole after they come.
Omegas are weaker, more pliant. They can become pregnant, once again regardless of agab, and go into 🥵heats🥵 at certain intervals. An omega's heat is what causes an Alpha's rut.
And Betas... well, they're normies, basically. You're a beta 🤷‍♂️
The most common form of ABO fanfic tends to involve the desired characters being an Alpha and an Omega, the Omega going into heat and the Alpha... helping them with it, if you know what I mean 😏
Since the trope makes it so cismale characters can get pregnant (ABO predates the rise of commonly accepted trans headcanons) the community has, of course, attracted many breeding kinksters such as myself. I've seen surprisingly few Omegaverse kidfics tho which is a pleasant thing for me considering I hate kidfics.
And since ABO originated in the SPN fandom (more or less) it is quite popular within it. And before I get a billion asks: yes, there are many other ways to achieve mpreg (male pregnancy) in your blorbos such as oviposition or simply making the character in question trans, but since ABO is the most common Watsonian cause of specifically spn mpreg, I figured I'd focus my reply on that.
Anyway, it's late and I'm getting tired but I still wanna post this before going to bed because my dear Anon, you have yearned long enough!
I hope you've found this explanation entertaining 💜

nine (9) people you'd like to know better
I got tagged by the wonderful @five4boarding and tumblr never gives me a little +1 notification icon when I get tagged in anything (like any other type of note would, so I don’t get it!!), so I live in fear that I’m always gonna miss these BUT I caught this one at least 👉😎👉
Last song: during my morning walk I randomly remembered the catchiest depression bop and then remembered the first time I looked up the guy's wiki and saw that he played hockey and I was like you're telling me a knife-footed ice-gremlin sang this???? (swiss juniors but still high level for his age bracket I think?) Anyway... Tomorrow May Not Be Better (specifically this version https://open.spotify.com/track/0V1quXmlVC6eH5kcfYPWEW ) by Bastian Baker still slaps to this very day 😌👌
Currently watching: My longstanding guilty pleasure is docs/commentary videos about any and all scams, particularly mlms/pyramid schemes. So it should come as no surprise that my brand new guilty pleasure is debt confessions/financial audits on youtube 🙈 I've been been watching a few by caleb hammer whose gimmick is that he gordon ramsey style shames people who come in with their financial records and he's like hey. why do you have $120,000 in consumer debt? why did you finance an ipad for your literal infant child?? why have you spent 30 dollars multiple times a day every day at dunkin for the last 3 months??? (the last one is an exaggeration but the first two I have seen LOL). His thumbnails are wretched I hate them so, so much, and his advice of living spartan-like for a few years to dig yourself out of the hole is ehhh maybe good in theory but generally not exactly...practical. And I think going cold turkey when you're used to constant impulse buying is basically a recipe for just eventually losing control and going on a bender. But. I'm nosy and love hearing about how people be spending their money so that's the best part of the videos for me lol
Currently reading: haven't picked up something new yet BUT I juuuust finished An Unauthorised Fan Treatise which was SO GOOD I literally slammed it nonstop for two days until I finished it. It's formatted like a rpf conspiracy theory livejournal where a fangirl of a supernatural-drama show compiles evidence that the two lead actors are secretly dating. BUT it's noted that the livejournal has been submitted as evidence into for a murder trial so y'know TWISTS AND TURNS lol. There's just something about the format that really compels me, idk I already love reading primers and conspiracies for hrpf couples that I literally have zero investment in and never will- I just enjoy the way the girlies spin a good narrative. (and also watching video essays about the uhhh less casual to super trainwreck ones like the whole larry fiasco even though I never got into 1D, as well as general fandom fiascos like msscribe and snapewives etc etc IT'S ALL SO FASCINATING TO ME 🍿👀) So it was a really natural fit for me to read in a fictional setting. And it's free to read! https://gottiewrites.com/2019/10/14/31/
Current obsession: I’m a hobbyist game maker so at all times I am rotating little bits of character development, experimental mechanics, aesthetics, ui design etc etc in my brain but it becomes much more mentally consuming during the off-season bc god knows when bruins hockey is live it is Featured Live 24/7 In My Brain. But for now... my OCs on my mind 😌💭
tagging (if you want to): OH NO I’M SO BASHFUL I NEVER KNOW WHO TO TAG IN THESE 🫣🫣🫣 uh uh uhh maybe @ghostgeno @alavenderleaf @tylerbertuzzi @reavenedges-lies @krugstrash if y’all are so inclined?? but also no pressure no pressure again I’m just NOSY hehe

1, 13 and 37
1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?
Right now I’m writing one called “don’t let the sun go down on me” which is a cancer fic, but I’m putting maximum effort into this one and my attention span has lasted far longer than it usually does which is a great sign.
13. Are there any tropes you used to like but don’t anymore?
RPF- I used to be all about RPF fics, in my initial fan fiction years, (supernatural, one direction) but I just, get the ick now about the concept. Like, I can’t handle reading or writing about a real human being who has like, feelings and maybe doesn’t want to be written about in those ways, in comparison to a fictional character.
37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?
Sunday Bloody Sunday - it’s still new enough, and it’s done well enough, I just thought it would do better and thought people would pick up on things no one seemed to notice. (Jamie telling Roy’s father “don’t speak to him like that”, and sticking up for Roy)

2000's and Beyond: Modern Fic
In this iteration of Fic History, we’re going to be exploring the fic culture in mega-fandoms from the early 2000’s and beyond. That’s a big field to cover, I know, so each section is probably going to be a bit less detailed than usual in order to make things easier to digest. To begin, we’re starting with:
Harry Potter
Tumblr media
I think it goes without saying that the HP fandom is probably the fandom of the 21st century. No book series has become so ubiquitous as HP, and there are still more HP fics on FF.net than from any other fandom. Since HP was published when the internet already existed, most of the fandom’s fics were published online, although a few printed fanzines were created. HP fic is also extremely varied, most likely due to the wide cast of characters and length of time covered by canon lore. You could find fic on anything from coffee shop AUs of the Hogwarts founders to explorations of the main trio’s children when they eventually attended Hogwarts. Like most fandoms with a large internet presence, the HP fandom had its own fic sites, some of which were dedicated to specific attributes like certain ships or tropes, but fic was also posted en masse to multifandom archives like FF.net and AO3. In fact, as of 2017, there are still more Harry Potter fanworks on FF.net than any other fandom.
Twilight
Tumblr media
If HP is the fandom of the century, Twilight is probably the fandom of the 2000’s decade. At least in the media, Twifans were portrayed as either feral teenage girls or feral middle-age women, but the fandom is actually much more diverse. In terms of fanfiction, it goes without saying that the most famous fic within the fandom is probably Master of the Universe by Snowqueens Icedragon, more commonly known by its profic title of Fifty Shades of Grey. Snowqueens Icedragon, A.K.A. E.L. James, filed the serial numbers off of her fic and sold it as an original piece of fiction to massive critical attention and success. You can read a bit more about Fifty Shades here.
One Direction
Tumblr media
This is the odd fandom out of the bunch, as it’s the only one listed that’s completely focused on real person fic, or RPF. According to FanLore, since there isn’t traditional source material to function as a canon to write fic about, canon in the 1D sense consists of “One Direction's members' original appearance on the reality show, plus their concerts, albums, music videos, video diaries, interviews, books, photo shoots, award ceremonies, other television appearances, band members' and families' personal twitter accounts, media gossip, authorized candid photos and selfies, and unauthorized candid photos by paparazzi and fans.”
RPF already has a bad reputation in fandom spaces, but since 1D is an engineered boy band adored mainly by teenage girls (fandom’s least favorite demographic), the 1D fandom reputation is in the pits (Jamison 2013). Despite this, the fandom is still quite large, and produces a lot of fic, especially on Wattpad, where the fanfic series turned profic After by Anna Todd was published from 2013 to 2014. The most popular ship amongst directioners is Larry Stylinson, or Harry/Louis.
Finally, we have
SuperWhoLock
Tumblr media
Behind HP, this is probably the largest fandom on the list, simply because it’s actually three fandoms smushed together: Supernatural, Doctor Who, and BBC’s Sherlock. Fans in this fandom are called SuperWhoLockians. This fandom was especially active on Tumblr in the early 2010’s, and while the main form of fanwork was gifsets, lots of fanfic was produced in each fandom individually as well in crossovers. The most popular Supernatural ships were Castiel/Dean (Destiel) and Wincest (Sam/Dean, who are brothers, hence the portmanteau between Winchester and incest), while Sherlock’s most popular was Sherlock/Watson or Johnlock. Doctor Who is different, as each individual reincarnation of the Doctor is considered a different character, so each Doctor has different pairings, usually with their respective companions or the Master. SuperWhoLock has a reputation for being cringy due to member’s repeated hijacking of Tumblr posts with fandom related GIFs, but now that the fandom is much less active, the cringe has turned into a feeling of nostalgia.
There are so many more fandoms I could talk about, which just goes to show how fandom spaces have only exploded in size as time has passed. Even though these descriptions aren’t the most detailed, I hope you found them informative and interesting!
Happy reading,
-KP

Pond Diving - @spn-fanfic-reblog-writes!
Tumblr media
Welcome to today’s Pond Diving Spotlight! We hope that you enjoy this little insight to our members and perhaps even find some useful tips for your own writing. Happy reading!
Want to volunteer, send us an ask or DM @mrswhozeewhatsis! We’re looking forward to learning more about all of you! Not sure what PD is, you can learn more here.
“Don’t Be Koi About It” - All About You
Name: Laili
Age: 38
Location: Gulf Coast, USA
URL: @spn-fanfic-reblog-writes
Why did you choose your URL: I made a bunch of blogs at once and realized I wanted to make sure readers knew what the blog was about.
What inspired you to become a writer: Reading. My imagination. Drawing. I was never big on reading “educational” books. I’m not a fan of Tolkien or C.S. Lewis. I don’t like wordy stories. I read each word and imagine everything I read in a deep detail and texture. I’ve always written and write stories when I can’t find the story I wanna read. I was always told to write the story you want to read. Sing the song you wanna hear. I only publish them because I know I’m not the only one interested. I can’t be. Why would I want to write it if it’s just for me? Someone else, even one other person, is interested.
How long have you been writing:  Most of my life. Writing fanfic since 2022.
What do you do when you are not writing i.e. Job/Hobbies etc?  Reading fanfic. Stay-at-home-parent or -house person, illustrating for bangs and fests or friends, watching tv/movies, hanging out with friends.
How long have you been in the SPN Fandom?  Since Supernatural the tv series came out in 2005.
Are you in any other fandoms and do you write for them? Moon Knight. Yes. The Boys. Yes. Highlander the series. Yes. Star Trek. No. Dark Angel. Yes. RPF. Yes. Medieval, fantasy dragon-focused stories. Want to. Futuristic and high magic stories. Want to. Urban fantasy. Yes. Modern AUs. Yes. Mortal Kombat: Conquest. No. Doctor Who. No.
Do you do any writing outside of fanfiction? If so, tell us about it?
Poems, songs, and original fiction—usually urban fantasy, sci-fi fantasy, or similar. I have two novels I am working on.
One is based on the A/b/o trope and how it’d affect humanity. It’ll follow a family.
The other is an urban fantasy where a psychic woman meets an angel who has lost their faith in God and she guides him through her own day-to-day living back to God. I didn’t mean for it to become a religious fiction book. It was meant more as a supernatural romance but after discussing my idea with a friend, it’s how it went.
As some with religious trauma, you’d think I wouldn’t write this. I’ve been more active on that novel than the other.
Favorite published author:  so many to choose from…. Christine Feehan, E.E. Cummings, Robert Frost, Robert Asprin, William Sears (NOT the doctor), Laurel K. Hamilton, Erma Bombeck, Berkeley Breathed, and more.
Have you ever read a book that made an impact on your life? Which one and why?:
I think all books make an impact but their degree depends on the reader.
You’ll probably laugh but two of the first books that I can remember that I read…well, my Mom read to me so many, many times were “The Napping House” and “The Circus is Coming”.
“The Napping House” by Audrey Wood, published in 1984. It was probably more on how she told the story and she always spoke with enthusiasm and energy to show how everyone experienced what was happening. The story is about a different sort of family who naps during a storm, and they all literally sleep and cuddle on one another but get awoken. Despite all the troubles and disturbances, they take it in stride and go outside to play together since it isn’t raining anymore. They rolled with the punches and kept being positive about it, not caring what caused all the issues to begin with. Blame didn’t matter.
“The Circus is Coming” A picture parade by Hilary Knight, published 1978. It’s beautiful. The art is gorgeous and it’s out of print. It isn’t easy to find. It is a way to be in a fantasy world and live outside it. It shows you the wonderfully, gorgeous and exotic circus parade and the regular kids running alongside it. It has a “Barnum and Bailey’s circus” resemblance to me but true artwork in a book that anyone could see and touch. It’s very silly, very gorgeous, a wonderful imagination, and very realistic. It allows the reader a way to get away for a while and it’s so encompassing, both pages every time take up the art.
Favorite genre of fanfic (smut, angst, fluff, crack, rpf, etc):  fluffy, a/b/o, and smut. I love angst with my fluff or hurt/comfort.
Favorite piece of your own writing: Imagine You’re Dating Vampire!Dean
Most underrated fic you have written:  Bedtime Routine. It's a kid fic and fluffy.
Story of yours that you’d most like to see turned into a movie/tv show: Domestic Destiel #1 OR In The Mood
Favorite Tumblr Writer(s):  (not all of them but a lot) @spnexploration @zepskies @luci-in-trenchcoat @holylulusworld @moosekateer13 @riley-phoenix @impala-dreamer @malicmalic @zationao3 @sharkfish @redamber79 @butterflysklinky @quietwingsinthesky @destielshipper4cas @thoughtslikeaminefield @wigglebox @naughtystiel @niche-patische @wisteria-lodge @a-deed-without-a-name @valandrawrites @anyreiart @queerwolfsstuff @punk-is-notdead @almaasi @omegadeanlovesalphacas @no-gorms @lizleeships @envydeanwrites @nickelkeep @baconandpie1 @sitruunavohveli @peachonified @unforth @starlightoffandoms @seidenapfel (There are tons more not on Tumblr!)
Favorite fic from another writer:  Pack by @spnexploration
Favorite character to write: Dean Winchester
Favorite Pairing to write:  Destiel
Least favorite character to write (and why):  “Evil” characters because it’s hard for me to understand them and write them well. I love a good bad guy, truly, especially when you don’t realize they’re the bad guy until it’s too late. Those are the best. The ones you love and break your heart.
Do you have anyone you consider a mentor? I guess K.M. Weiland since she has the website helpingwritersbecomeauthors.com and she explains all aspects of writing stories with examples, so much. It helps so much.
Do you have any aspirations involving your writing?   I want to be a published fiction writer on the NY Times Best Seller list.
How many work-in-progress stories do you have:  lol! I had to make a list and counted, 94, that I have every intention to write. (This does not include the bingos I haven’t even touched yet or worked on.)
What are you currently working on?  Waiting for my beta on my Spn Sabriel Bang fic (to be posted August 11th). I’m working on an a/b/o series that leads to a polycule (destiel x reader).
“Pond Diving” - All About The Writing
What/who has had the biggest influence on your writing?  My Mom. She’s the reason I haven’t kept writing when I would lose interest. Now, I can add so many fandom folks I met on discord or tumblr that have helped keep me going, especially when my depression starts getting to me. It helps so much. Thank you is not enough to say.
Best writing advice you've been given:  When you start writing, write what you know. Read and read and read but read good authors.
Biggest obstacle you’ve faced in your writing: Depression. It lies and wants you to give up on everything. It makes you focus on yourself when you should be focused on those around you and your mutuals.
What aspects of writing do you find difficult when you write fanfiction? Finishing. Stopping the plot bunnies from dominating my mind while I’m writing.
Is there anything you want to write but are afraid to (and why): Triggering aspects of mental health. I’m worried no one will want to read it. I’m worried I’ll end up triggering someone or myself as I write it. Well-written negative mental health episodes in stories have triggered me and I was surprised. I knew how to handle it because I have a lot of different coping skills I’ve been taught and practice but I recognize not everyone has that.
What inspires/motivates you to write:  Life. Other people’s creativity. Stories I want to read that no one has written yet.
How do you deal with self doubt:  My family, friends and mutuals are huge ego and mood boosters. Taking a break does help and getting different perspectives on the situation or what’s going on can make a big difference.
How do you deal with writer's block: Change how I’m being creative. Instead of writing, I’ll draw or paint or do photography. My goal is to always be creative or artsy. It’s ok to do other things than write.
Do you plan/outline your story before you start: Honestly, it depends on how I come across the idea. I tend to do half and half. If I outline, it’s basic stuff and then I’ll write, sometimes I’ll go a different direction than my plot line which is acceptable. Just depends on where the characters wanna go.
Do you have any weird writing habits:  I write on my phone. lol! I also collect office supplies but I think that has more to do with being close to my dad whose trunk used to be his storage when he sold office supplies. 😊
Have you ever received hateful comments on your fic and how do you deal with it?  Not for my fic writing that I can recall. Honestly, I ignore them. I will talk to close friends about it to help me process it and reduce my anxiety but I just ignore them and delete the comment.
Conversely: what’s been some of your favorite feedback on your fanfic?  People asking me to write more, even on one shots. People telling me that they love it.
If you could give one piece of advice to a new and/or struggling writer, what would it be?
I have two and I can’t remember who said them.
Just write. It doesn’t matter what you write, just write.
Write the story you want to read.
Those are two things I think of when I’m staring at blank paper or a blank screen and nothing comes to mind. That last is why I write what I write. Sometimes I don’t even know that’s the story I want to read until it’s done. 😊

M, Q, Y for the fandom meme?
M - Say something genuinely nice about a ship that you don’t ship (or its shippers, or anything related to you)
So I don't know what the population of Josh Lyman/John Hoynes shippers is, but last I checked there were three fics on ao3 for them and they were all just. Absurdly well-written. Fantastic quality to quantity ratio.
Q - A ship you’ve abandoned and why
The only thing that comes to mind is. Well. Destiel. I was really into destiel in 2012-14, and then I lost interest in Supernatural. I still have nostalgic feelings about it, but unlike other ships in shows I've lost interest in, I wouldn't say I ship it anymore. I'm not sure I can explain why? I lost track of the storylines and could no longer see a coherent relationship arc I guess. I still loved November 5th though. WAIT also. I was really into Alexander Hamilton/John Laurens in 2016 and historical fiction semi-RPF is not really my jam anymore, so I don't particularly have feelings about it anymore.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)
Cobra Kai (I ship those two dudes), 911 (I do not ship those two dudes), uhhhh Columbo. The Monkees, the Beatles, assorted classic rock bandoms. I'm a fan of Star Wars but not in fandom, but I see a bunch of Star Wars fandom stuff on my dash. I'm sure there are more.

RE: this ask
Sorry about to go off on one, gender studies and online fan culture from an academic standpoint is a special interest of mine because being film and literature student wasn't annoying enough (participatory culture studies my beloved)
From a general standpoint, I think the reason M/M ships in fiction have always been more popular is because male characters are historically more developed and complex. I think it’s only in recent years have their been an influx of popular F/F ships, with the added development of women on screen (e.g Clarke and Lexa, Kara and Lena, Regina and Emma, Nancy and Robin) - I think there is also a point to be made this has coincided with gender expression, genderqueerness and more general knowledge of being outside the typical gender spectrum.
I can’t explicitly say that being in M/M fandom spaces encouraged my personal discovery of being transmasc but it certainly helped to have an avenue where I could project onto these “male” characters and see myself in them. I was so uncomfortable in my own body and what I didn’t know at the time as dysphoria, I can see why I didn’t go for F/F ships.
There are of course a lot of “fandom elders” but young (early to late teens) afab people do make up a large bulk of it and I get why  it may be easier for them to fixate on M/M ships as a, sort of method of exploring their own sexuality and gender expression. F/F ships may hit too close to home and F/M ships are what they are trying to escape from so it leaves M/M ships to project onto. Which, unfortunately then can become warped by the persons own comphet and/or binary ideas about gender.
A male character may have more stereotypically “feminine” traits (in terms of interests or emotional reactions) and I can see why people who also have those traits would project there own insecurities onto them, reinforcing the feminisation of the male character but not being comfortable enough in your own gender expression to genderbend the character or write them as trans.
It’s the same reason I think mafia romance, dark romance etc etc is so popular with cishet women because they can read about a fantasy where instead of the very real every day misogyny and violence they face leading to abuse, assault and death, it brings “positives” ; protected, loved, a happy relationship.
Which, side note. I think this has A Lot to do with y/n, self insert fics becoming “cringe”. Because, I think a lot of people just want to fuck/date a character and feel like they can’t write a self insert anymore, so just project massively onto one character, leading to a lot of these issues. I don’t think Tony Stark/Peter Parker would be as popular as it is if people just let young women write their self insert fic about being Tony Stark’s sugar baby and then we wouldn’t have the wildly mischaracterised version of Peter Parker that we do!
But, all this being said. I’m talking about fiction. Dean Winchester isn’t actually affected if people online only talk about him in a stereotypically “female” way.
RPF is a different kettle of fish (and I’m not going in RPF ethics that’s different - I have no issues with rpf creators/consumers to be clear, I am one) because a real person does become affected. Even if you are keeping your fan works and discussions to private spaces, it can leach over into how you speak about the actual person. That’s where it becomes so incredibly important to remember that your RPF version of celebrities are just as fictional as Dean Winchester is.
sorry I used mr. supernatural as an example, 13 year old me is still alive and kicking in my head somewhere.
I love to hear your perspective on it with a trans worldview (and academic credentials), and I do agree that that might be a big driver of some young people only wanting to engage with MLM fic and feeling uncomfortable with WLW fic. You've brought up so many great points so I'll try and address them all.
I can add the perspective of a lesbian who was closeted for the first two decades of my life, came out less than five years ago, and still struggles on and off with comphet now. MLM fics in my teens were a way to consume queer content and relationships without having to think about the implications of enjoying consuming WLW content, and I think that's true for a lot of young closeted teens so it's no surprise that some comphet/hetnorm/cisnorm stuff bleeds through there because it's a framework the authors haven't managed to detach themselves from yet.
But yeah, I agree the issue lies with people wanting characters to be self-inserts partially so that they can experience sex, sexuality, and romance without any of the hang ups of thinking about patriarchy. And I agree with your solution: make y/n fics cool again! The ability we have to hallucinate while we read is magic! You can put YOURSELF in as a character's love interest, how cool is that?
Ultimately, yeah. There's nothing wrong with RPF as long as it isn't actually affecting the person that the RPF is based off, but I've seen a lot of takes escaping containment so to say (ie. leaving this website) with takes about the actual racers so obviously picked up through RPF. The main culprits are Charles, Lando, Max in my experience.
