European Super League 2.0
In April 2021 twelve of the biggest soccer clubs in Europe started to publish their ideas for a new elite European league. The clubs from England, Italy and Spain. The name of the League is "European Super League". Two years ago, this led to one of the biggest fan protests in the history of soccer. The UEFA (United European Football Association) was worried about the plans and threatened sanctions against these clubs. One week after publishing the plans, the idea was shot down and the frontrunners had to quit their job, like the former president of Real Madrid.
However this March some clubs came up with the "European Super League 2.0". And this time it sounds like many fans support this idea to revolutionize the European Soccer. This time everything sounds like a great plan if you read the paragraphs on the website. For this league clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin founded the marketing agency A22 with its boss Bernd Reichert, former CEO of the German TV channel RTL.
The company wants to increase the amount of games in the group stage but more care about the health of the players. Everything sounds like a great idea in the first moment. Despite of the good idea it is really critical to implement the league. The European sports court will make a decision the next weeks which will allow the UEFA to decide themselves if they want to establish the super league. However they will not destroy their own system.
What are your thoughts about the evolution in European Soccer?
Will it change to a system like in the U.S. e.g. the NFL with their franchise system?

New Managers Make Their Mark in Women's Super League Debuts
Two new managers stepped onto the Women’s Super League stage on Friday, with one emerging victorious and both leaving a lasting impression.
Chelsea began their new chapter under manager Sonia Bompastor, who took over from the legendary Emma Hayes. The match saw Chelsea secure a 1-0 win against Aston Villa, marking a perfect start for Bompastor, who was eager to maintain the club's legacy of success.
“It’s always important to start with a win, especially in the first game at Kingsmeadow,” Bompastor said. “This win will bring some confidence to the players and the team.” The victory was crucial as Chelsea aims for a sixth consecutive WSL title this season, now under Bompastor’s leadership.
Tumblr media
Kingsmeadow showcased a fresh look, with banners and flags celebrating Bompastor replacing those featuring Hayes. The atmosphere was electric as fans applauded her onto the pitch, signaling a new era for the club. “It was a really special night,” she reflected, smiling at the warm welcome. “I will do my best to make the fans happy.”
Despite the win, Bompastor noted the challenges her team faced. Aston Villa, under new manager Robert de Pauw, pushed Chelsea to the limit, nearly equalizing late in the match. Key saves from Chelsea's goalkeeper, Hannah Hampton, secured the win, demonstrating the resilience ingrained in the club’s DNA.
“They did what they had to do to get the win,” said former England midfielder Fara Williams. “Chelsea showed they could suffer and grind out a result. For an opening game, this result is perfect.”
While Bompastor celebrated her victory, De Pauw’s Aston Villa delivered a performance that showcased their potential for the season. With several new players and a fresh style, Villa kept Chelsea on their toes. Impressive showings from players like Missy Bo Kearns and Chasity Grant highlighted their determination.
Reflecting on the game, De Pauw acknowledged the frustration of not securing a point. “If you can force the champions in this way, it says something about the power we have,” he remarked. He urged his players to use their disappointment as motivation for future matches.
“There’s still a lot of growth possible for this team,” he added. “I hope the fans will turn up big at Villa Park, and if the players use that fuel for the next game, it can lead to an even better performance.”
As both managers look ahead, the opening match has set the tone for an exciting WSL season filled with potential and promise.

Super League Half-Term Report: Leeds, St Helens, Warrington, Hull and More!
Super League Half-Term Report: Grading Leeds Rhinos, St Helens, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC and Others
The Super League Season So Far: A Brief Overview
The Super League season began on March 25th and has been a rollercoaster ride for rugby league fans. The league features 12 teams who play each other twice in the regular season. Each team plays a total of 22 games with the top six teams qualifying for the playoffs. The first half of the season has seen some fantastic performances, nail-biting finishes, and plenty of drama. There have been upsets as well as dominant displays from some of the league's top teams. One standout feature of this year's competition is how competitive it is. No team has managed to dominate the league so far, making it one of the most unpredictable seasons in recent memory.
The Importance of The Half-Term Report
With over half the season played, it's time to evaluate how each team has fared so far and assess their chances for success in the remainder of the competition. A half-term report allows us to take stock of what we've seen thus far and provides an excellent opportunity to predict future outcomes based on past performances. The report is crucial for coaches, players, fans, and pundits alike as they look back at their team's progress from preseason expectations to present-day reality. It also helps us appreciate individual player performances that may not have received their due credit during match reports or analyses. In short, it gives rugby fans an all-encompassing view of how things stand thus far in Super League.
Explanation Of The Grading System
Each team will receive a grade based on their overall performance during this year's competition so far. We will look at factors such as players' form and fitness, team strategy and tactics, and the overall consistency of their performances. Teams will be graded using a standard A to F grading system. This grading system allows us to provide an accurate assessment of each team's performance and gives fans a clear idea of where each team stands in terms of expectations for the remainder of the season. The grading system is not meant to be harsh or overly critical but rather an honest evaluation of how each team has performed so far. Ultimately, it serves as both a reflection on what has been, as well as guidance on what needs to improve moving forward.
Conclusion: A Preview Of What To Expect
As we approach the midway point in this year's competition, there is still much to look forward to. With playoffs looming large on the horizon, every game becomes more crucial than ever before. In the coming sections of this article, we'll take a closer look at some teams' performances thus far this season - paying particular attention to Leeds Rhinos, St Helens, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC and others - using our grading system. So buckle up rugby fans; we're in for an exciting ride!
Leeds Rhinos
Their Season So Far: A Rollercoaster Ride
The Leeds Rhinos have had a difficult first half of the 2021 Super League season. After finishing in fifth place last season, they came into the new campaign with high hopes of challenging for the title. However, they have struggled to find consistency and currently sit in ninth place, outside of the playoff places. Their season started well with a convincing win over Wakefield Trinity in round one, but things quickly turned sour as they suffered heavy defeats to Hull FC and St Helens in their next two games. They bounced back with wins over Salford Red Devils and Huddersfield Giants, but then suffered another heavy defeat to Wigan Warriors. They have continued this inconsistent form throughout the season so far, winning some games convincingly while losing others by large margins. One notable positive has been their impressive defence; they have conceded fewer points than any other team outside of the top four. Read more

A bit clearer with this article. Anyway it’s like the same accusations with slight variations sent multiple times on multiple fronts to multiply impacts: they allegedly cooked their books. Textbook judicial harassment.
Also they gave the news just as tonight match was about to start for maximum impact. Like in January. Call me parano, but as they say: « just because you are paranoid does not mean they aren’t out to get you ».

Surprise! We couldn't let St Helens being crowned World Champs on Aussie soil pass us by without a dose of Saint David smugness could we!? So here's Mark & David recapping the big win for David's side and our competition. We'll talk about the match itself and the possible legacy this leaves. Plus, which was greater? Wigan in 1994 or St Helens in 2023?
