Sokoto Governor Gifts Super Eagles Player, Abdullahi Shehu A House, Cash & Land (Photos) The Sokoto State Government has donated a hajj seat and a four bedroom house complex to Super Eagles player, Abdullahl Shehu, who is an indigene of the state after his impressive performance at the World Cup in Russia. The State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, announced the donation while receiving Shehu who participated in the ongoing World Cup at the state government House in Sokoto.

Governor Tambuwal directed the state commissioner for lands and housing to identify a suitable land to be allocated to Abdullahi shehu for the construction of sports complex to be named after the footballer. He told the football star that the state is proud of him and assured him of government’s continuous support and encouragement.

In his remarks, Shehu thanked the state governor for the gifts given to him and also presented a Super Eagles jerseys to the state governor. He wrote on Twitter; "I want to appreciate @GovSokoto Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for the honour today. The Governor gifted me a house, land to build my Sports Complex, sponsorship to Hajj & cash to support my foundation. I’m honoured to be blessed in my State & I’m delighted to be a good ambassador." He added; "Great honour in my state today, It’s a big privilege to be honoured. Big appreciation to @GovSokoto Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. Nigeria to battle Sudan in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations

Nigeria’s trip to Omdurman to battle Sudan this evening is the headline fixture as the final round of 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) continues. Fourteen teams will play in two-legged ties over the next five days to join hosts Egypt for the finals in November. This will not only decide the age-group kings of the continent but will also reveal the three African qualifiers for the men’s football tournament at the 2020 Olympic Games. It is believed that Nigeria’s ‘Dream Team’ is one of the two candidates for a place at the Tokyo Games and Super Eagles regular Ahmed Musa has called on the team to give their all over the two matches against Sudan, starting with the clash at the Al Merrikh Stadiium tonight. Musa said “I am here to encourage and pledge my support to you due to the importance of the game ahead of you. “I have played for the U-23 before making my debut for the Super Eagles in 2010, and with dedication, hard work and grace of God, today I’m the Super Eagles captain. “Nigeria is blessed with a lot of talented footballers. A statement issued by spokesman of Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, said Pa Michael Obi and his driver, Ishaya John, were kidnapped last Friday along Makurdi – Enugu Road. . . The statement read:‎ “The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force through its operatives of the 9thmile Division on Monday at 2:30 p.m. rescued Pa Michael Obi and his driver one Ishaya John unhurt in Egede udi forest of Enugu State along old Egede Affa Road in Enugu. . . “They were rescued hale and hearty and Pa Michael Obi and the driver have rejoined their family. It was gathered that Pa Obi was allegedly abducted along Makurdi -Enugu road in the afternoon of 29/6/18 on his way from Jos in his grey colored Toyota pardon jeep with registration number MUS 604CG and taken to unknown destination through the thick forest part of the area. . . “It was further gathered that the abductors started calling to demand a ransom of N10 million before the operatives acting on intelligence information swooped on them where a gun duel ensued. Odion Ighalo has taken responsibility for Super Eagles 2-1 loss to Argentina in the last Group D match in Saint Peter sburg onTuesday, even as his wife has lambasted those attacking him. Ighalo, who missed a couple of chances in the all-important match told TheCable he apologised to the entire nation and teammates after the game. He also rued the clear chances he had which he failed to utilise. “I apologise to Nigeria. I apologise to my team mates,” Ighalo said. “I take responsibility for this game because I had taken those chances I had that would have made it a different ball game now. But that is football and life has to continue.
