HELLO! please please would you inform me of some of the lore on rush and styx? ive listened to a few of their respective songs but i know nothing about those guys and i like knowing about the bands i listen to, if you like? (no pressure :))
HII!
sorry i didnt respond in a while! its been rather busy!
right! its the middle of the night and im really tired so i'm just gonna do rush lore because im about to fall asleep at any moment!!
ive never really explained rush lore to anybody so sorry if this is choppy.
our favorite dorks! geddy neil and alex >3
my favorite dork is geddy if u totally couldnt tell ☺️
rush has like, lyrics that make me transcend into space and find cygnus X-1
neil is not only a great drummer, but a great lyricst too! his writing really captivates me, and his lyrics really resonate with me. he's a great writer, one that created words that really hit deep
alex's guitar lines are SUPER underrated. I mean- he knows when to come in and do his solo and leave it to the rest of the band if yk what i mean. (im a bad explainer) it's literally perfect
geddy geddy spageddy. worlds GREATEST multi-tasker! his bass lines are perfect, creating a masterpiece. not to mention, the fact he plays synth parts with not just his hands but with pedals too, and he fucking sings. btw, his singing is something that is just fucking amazing. the fact that he is naturally just able to have a very high-tone of voice when he sings is just otherworldly.
not to mention, they are the most wholesome people!! they have such a tight bond and the friendship between geddy and alex is so fucking funny and just DHAJDBEIAHNEDNOWUEBDJXIWAHAHHHHHH
anyways!
their music is just amazing, and again, lyrics? omg geddy does such a good job singing them and neil writing them.
im not going to go through all of the albums because im VERY tired right now, but here are my top favorites <3
signals, moving pictures, 2112, hemispheres, clockwork angels, hold your fire, grace under pressure, counterparts
rush photo dump!
im going to go to bed now, but hope that clears it up.
because i didnt talk abt styx heres me making up for it
another favorite blonde boy ❤️
listening to suite madam blue
#surprise at the end!#sorry for not responding in like 2 days mb#rush band#rush#geddy lee#alex lifeson#neil peart#yay#dork content

ummmm who is this gorgeous woman as your theme????
Her name is Soyoon and she’s an androgynous Korean soloist who made a famous song with RM from BTS (Smoke Sprite) and I’ve had a crush on her since 2019 when she dropped her Album So!YoON. She’s also apart of a band called SE SO NEON and they also make really good music new album coming in 2025 can’t wait !!!
She plays the Guitar and she’s very underrated and due to that it’s hard finding fans of her everyone in her fan base is hella homophobic 😭 and she’s always opened up about how she supports the LGBTQ+ community (I forgot to mention she is sadly straight 😩).
My sister went to one of her concerts once and she said that it was a bunch of queers and she one time asked my sisters girlfriend to come on stage and she UNFORTUNATELY declined the offer still haven’t forgotten about that 🤦🏾♀️
She also did a Video with Seulgi from Red Velvet and the whole video was HELLA gay for no reason at all.
She’s so talented, so hot, and she one time viewed my story when I posted one of her posts I WAS SO EXCITED. you should check her out if you want to ofc I can recommend some of her songs and watch the MV’s they are also good
1. Zz’ City
2. Smoke Spirit (Ft. RM of BTS)
3. Bad
These are songs she makes with her band SE SO NEON:
1. Ung
2. Winter
3. Go Back
These are more photos of her SHES LIKE SUPER HOT 😩 and it upsets me that she’s the epitome of a Masc Lesbian but is sadly super straight when she got into a relationship with a man I almost lost my shit (jokingly ofc don’t wanna seem like one of those psycho fans).
SORRY YOU JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHO SHE IS AND I WENT ON A HUGE ASS RANT ABOUT HER. Sorry I’m like OBSESSED with her like real bad.
#☆— mj speaks#seulszn speaks#I want and need her#she is so fine#I ranted again#y’all don’t understand#need that

Today I want to share the joy that Reading A Newspaper has brought me recently (yesterday).
Because you see, it's not very often that I can read a several pages long good quality feature on a band that I'm something of a fan of, considering that until last year at best, all and any musical favourites I had were next to unheard of in the, let's call it, professional music business. And said feature also gave a few mentions to the one and only fav band of all time which I'm also still not used to being able to read about in my language (because it only happened like 5 times in total so far anyway, but still). And I can buy the newspaper in my local store in this minuscule town and find Sparks inside, like wow, it really is My Sparks, in this real life physical newspaper that I just got. This was like a belated but very epic christmas gift for me and I'm not kidding.
But well yeah getting to the point now, Franz Ferdinand are starting their tour soon promoting their upcoming new album and they're stopping in Poland too, so there was this whole 14-pages long overview of their whole career, and while I was obviously interested in the whole thing I was most hyped about the fact that there would have to be something about FFS and Sparks there and this brings me to my delighful observation that wow, all of this is so, connected in a way. Like how there are these connections in inspiration and collaborations between many of my favourites that I didn't even think about probably being a thing before, but when I think about it it just makes so much sense. Like how in this interview with Alex Kapranos, the interviewer brings up Talking Heads and specifically Fear of Music, because the new Franz Ferdinand album also has this sort of overarching theme of fear. And it's funny because that's the first Talking Heads album I've ever listened to and still my favourite from them to this day and overall one of my all-time favourite albums. And I guess it shouldn't be that shocking that it'd come up here because Talking Heads were super influential and inspired thousands, but also until now I didn't think about how both these bands share the general direction of creating dance-able type of rock with lyrics that are often on the more reflective and "intellectual" side. And also that album has been recommended to me as the most TMBG-like of theirs so. Wow I wonder why I like it.
Ok there were also all these other things that I want to mention too, so, other miscellaneous points of interest:
In the debut album review, the reviewer said that during Tell Her Tonight Alex sings a lot like Russell Mael, who likes to sing in falsetto. And well I know there's also the Sparks connection in the form of FFS to come later but still, this was such a great SPARKS MENTION!!!! moment for me anyway. But also they got one thing wrong, because it's not that Russell likes singing in falsetto, Ron forced him to sing in falsetto by writing all of his songs in this crazy uper range of notes, and that's a very important detail !!!!!!
And ok I had no idea that Piss Off already existed in some form as far back as 2004!! Or I knew about this and then I forgor. Either way, fascinating piece of information
I need to know more about how these star-based ranking systems work because why would you call FFS an "excellent album" and then rate it 4 stars. Instead of, I don't know, 4 and a half or 5 maybe?? Especially since it apparently has only 2 "weak songs". And I have some major objections when it comes to this too, because we're calling Things I Won't Get a weak track now?? It's just underrated as heck, and that's a hill that I will die on
Also I could never be a music reviewer because these people can fit their whole commentary on one song within one sentence and I feel like I would have to write at least 3 paragraphs on even the least exceptional of songs on a given album before I can feel like I did it justice. I mean, this whole post itself shows how much of a problem this is for me, lol
Also guys were we all aware that FFS turns 10 next yeah. Oh god. Well I need to remember to keep my tradition and preapre a cool piece of fanart for that occasion then. Maybe they should give us FFS 2 to celebrate, I'm pretty sure there'd be lots of interest among the fandom in something like that. Anyway
Well also this wasn't the only article in this whole thing of course and CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, there was a little bit on the Harrison & Belew Remain In Light Tour, which I will also be attending!!! Lots of great stuff is cooking for the first half of 2025 for me musically I can't lie
And also CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, that a year and a half since it was supposed to be released "worldwide" and long after I already lost hope that I'd ever see it in a cinema, they're releasing Stop Making Sense in cinemas over here too. Fucking finally!!! By gods and heavens, that rare moment when you learn about something crucial through a goddamn instagram ad of all places. And then they also reminded me about this in an actual article so well wow. Can you believe this. I can't. So stocked for next saturday when i'm seeing this movie the way it was always supposed to be seen hehehe
Ok I think that's it. Thank you for reading and maybe I should really make that personal website for my rambles in the new year. I'd definitely put that thing to use.
#god this post got away from me and grew in scope very fast. i mostly just wanted to say that it made my evening#to read and learn something very interesting about bands i like and realize that there are connections between them that i didn't see befor#and how all of that might have influenced me and my musical preferences without me having any idea about it?#and ok does this go under my long posts tag? well it definitely should#goose monologues#but well yeah some obligatory sidenotes in the tags now#all in all i must say that i'm REALLY hyped for the show now. i mean both of them. (franz & remain in light)#and i've been thinking about how the new album comes out on january 10th so. very soon. and the show is next month after that#and maybe it'd be a good idea to listen to the other albums before that. because i've only listened to 3 of them in full so far ooops#i mean it's not like they have that many albums anyway it's fine.#but also i confess that i didn't know any of the other band members names besides alex until i read this article#i mean i didn't even know who else is in the band at all so.#please forgive me for my ignorance. but well what better way is there to ring in the new year#than by blasting franz ferdinand? just like that one post said#wait i should be able to find that post actually just give me one moment

Band Recommendations Part 1 - 2000’s Garage Rock Revival
I know y’all love Arctic Monkeys, The Libertines, Interpol, and the Strokes, but this genre has so much to offer. Here are some of my favorite bands and some info on them.
1. Franz Ferdinand
I fuck with these guys heavy. My favorite band of all time.
Genre(s) - art rock, post-punk, dance-rock
Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish band that was pretty popular in the early 2000s, but people don’t know much from them other than “Take Me Out” or “This Fire” from their debut album.
Their visual style is pretty unique, with their music videos from their debut album and You Could Have It So Much Better taking inspo from Bauhaus and 1960’s ish European advertising.
Their first two albums are super consistent thematically, and their third album, Tonight, has a bit more of a dance-y vibe but is still recognizably Franz Ferdinand. I honestly can’t recommend this band enough.
They have a new album, The Human Fear, coming out January 2025.
Favorite Songs - “The Fallen”, “Bite Hard”, “Darts of Pleasure”, and “Evil Eye”
2. Maxïmo Park
Genre(s) - electronic rock, post-punk, alt rock, indie rock
The fact that these guys never made it to the same level of mainstream as Franz Ferdinand or Arctic Monkeys is tragic.
Honestly, I don’t really know what to say about this band other than that they sound like garage rock injected with psychedelic rock. I don’t even know, but they are incredible
Their first album, A Certain Trigger, is absolutely amazing. It’s fast paced and has literally zero skips. The second album, Unearthly Pleasures, definitely has a more rock sound, but is still fucking awesome.
They just came out with a new album, Stream of Life, a couple months ago.
Favorite Songs - “Graffiti”, “Quiz Show Clue”, and “The Unshockable”
3. Dirty Pretty Things
Genre(s) - indie, post punk
This band was a one-off project from Carl Barât of the Libertines, but I wish we had seen more of them. The band has a weirdly nautical, almost shanty-ish sound mixed with the garage punk of the Libertines. They released one album in 2006 so it’s not a huge commitment.
Favorite Tracks - “Bang Bang You’re Dead” and “Bloodthirsty Bastards”
4. The Fratellis
Genre(s) - alt rock, indie rock
Definitely one of the more popular ones on this list, but they are totally unlike any other band. They have some odd rockabilly influence and a knack for narrative, making their style of music totally unique.
Costello Music, their first and most popular album, is absolutely amazing. Don’t think there’s a single skip. I personally have t listened to much of their recent stuff, but I cannot recommend their first few albums enough.
Favorite Songs - “Chelsea Dagger”, “Creepin’ Up The Backstairs”, and “Whisky Saga”
5. Klaxons
Genre(s) - new wave, dance-punk, electronic rock
I love this band. They have a sort of chaotic sound that meshes so well with the electronic dance influence.
They only released 3 albums, the most recent from a decade ago, but their music definitely stands the test of time.
Favorite Songs - “Totem on the Timeline” and “Golden Skans”
6. We Are Scientists
Genre(s) - post punk, alt rock, pop punk
Another great band, totally underrated. They feel like if the Strokes went to Hot Topic. They totally have that pop-punk sound, very reminiscent of Fall Out Boy or early Twenty-One Pilots.
I haven’t listened to their whole discography, but their first album, With Love And Squalor, is absolutely fabulous. It’s super high-energy and lyrically fun.
Favorite Songs - “Inaction” and “This Scene is Dead”

death cab for cutie ranking! (september 2024)
i want to start using this blog for more things, so here's a quick and dirty post about my personal ranking of my favorite band, death cab for cutie, and their albums! so without further adieu! here we go! for the record this is going off my memory and feeling, i could potentially revisit this list in more depth, but I want to go primarily off my feelings and my thoughts without going through a deep study, so the bottom half might get a little muddy. For the record I think ALL Death Cab For Cutie records are INSANELY good, for the record. BUT. BUT BUT. Here we go.
#1: Transatlanticism
Need I say FUCKING more? I love this album so so much. It is the banner of this blog. This album is so good, so solid, and it stays so for the entire run time. Everything about this album is perfect. I love it so much.
Favorite Song: Title and Registration
#1: We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes
It's my list! I can have a tie for number 1 if I want to! This album is a completely different vibe and reason why it's good compared to Transatlanticism, but honestly I come back to it an equal amount honestly. If not more. This one just feels like it speaks specifically to me and my soul. When I listened to it for the first time, I listened to it twice that day because I loved it so much. Depending on the day, I could say this is my favorite one. Easy recommendation.
Favorite Song: Company Calls
#2: The Photo Album
This album, to me, is the perfect middle between what we got with Transatlanticism and We Have The Facts. Like those two, absolutely no misses. If I were a bit more cheeky with this list, I would also tie this one for #1, but we gotta move on from #1 at some point :p. Nonstop bangers.
Favorite Song: I Was A Kaleidoscope
#3 Narrow Stairs
Okay so. This one is awesome. This one follows up "Plans" and is honestly a return to form for them I'll be honest. At a different time, I would've ranked this one below Plans, but honestly I've aged into this album excellently. I'm going to be honest. I fucking adore it nowadays. I Will Possess Your Heart is a complete classic and I can't imagine a single person who listens to it going "oh that song sucks" unless you have no patience or taste. It's a bit edgier but also very heartfelt.
Favorite Song: Cath...
#4: Asphalt Meadows
Late career BANGER. This album is so so close to being no skips, it's got a few 6s on the tracklist, but it never dips below a 6-7, I honestly am so excited for what they have in store for us. This album is so underrated I am going to be honest. This was such an overlooked album when it came out too. Maybe don't start with this one, but DON'T OVERLOOK IT.
Favorite Song: I Miss Strangers
#5: Plans
This is probably one everyone ELSE would rank way higher, and for good reason! It's an excellent EXCELLENT ALBUM. and it is super duper accessible. Quite frankly, if you start with anyone, this one. Do this one. But I think it's just that. Just the starter. This one has a lot of very classic songs and by no means is it bad, it just sort of... sits at the beginning of the middle of the pack for me. still a 10 or 9 out of 10
#6 Something About Airplanes
Okay. Well. Gotta explain myself here. This is their first record, and it is not THAT MUCH better than its predecessory, the demo tape "You Can Play These Songs With Chords" it has its issues and it's the first one I would not like, has flaws that bring it down a peg compared to the others. Now to be fair, I still love it lmao. It's an 8/10 or 9/10 for me but like, for the general public, idk. I would personally say don't listen to this one until you KNOW you love Death Cab haha.
Favorite Song: Fake Frowns
#7 You Can Play These Songs With Chords
This one's kind of disjointed. It has bangers. And a lot of them. But there's too many songs I just, can't fully latch onto. and a cover of this charming man. so. sorry i like something about airplanes more. i love you though, you can play these songs with chords, you are a lovely little demo tape <3
Favorite Song: TV Trays
#8: Codes and Keys
Last album of their pre-Asphalt Meadows flop era with Chris Walla and it kind of shows but ALSO it's better than it has any right to be. I have a soft spot for this one, and I revisit it a fair amount more than other 2010s Death Cab records. Don't have much else to say here.
Favorite Song: Monday Morning
#9: Thank You For Today
Ah. Yes. The canonical worst one. Yeah this one kind of blows compared to even the one I am going to rank below it. BUT i do appreciate it. it has a few BANGERS i am going to be honest. don't have much else to say
Favorite Song: Gold Rush
#10: Kintsugi
Don't take me putting this at 10th as an indication of quality. This album is still a fantastic album. I just. don't really listen to it. Never did. Haven't in a while. It didn't stick to me like the other did. Doesn't help that I can't find it ANYWHERE on CD. BUT! Yeah. Gimme a few years and this album will probably click and be a favorite.
Favorite Track: N/A, literally I don't have one off the top of my head. I guess Ghost Of Beverly Drive???? whatever sorry Kintsugi fans
AND THAT'S A LIST. Kind of a self indulgent post, maybe I'll do this for other bands I like if I'm feeling it. But I want to start using this for dumb dumb stupid bullshit like this. This is a gut feelings list, so I will probably look at this post in a few years and go "why did i rank this so high?" lmao. But yeah. Thanks for reading and PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LISTEN TO DEATH CAB! 10/10 band you won't regret it <3

thanks so much for writing a part 2 to the xNurse reader(i loved it)
and for giving grant some love. And if you are going to do more parts i would like to request that you add alton moore, christenson and moe alley because they are so underrated/like i Can Barely find any fics about them/And sorry english is not my first language
Hey I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for your request, I’d love to write for these men, sorry if it’s not super good as they for some reason never got as much screen time in Bob:( but I love to do more research and give some underrated boys some attention hehe.
Also no need to apologise!! Your English is perfect!!
Band of Brothers x Nurse Reader, Part 3:
Alton More:
Okay off topic but this guy was biggggggg for looting, how do you think he got hold of Hitlers personal photo album LMAO.
like that smirk after Speirs has finished telling him off just makes me feel like he’s a bit cheeky.
Like I can see all the nurses being introduced to the men and he just smirks directly at you immediately. His attention isn’t on any of the other women, you’re the only one he’s got eyes for.
some how, he attempts to make his way over to speak to you, but you’re ushered away quicker than he expects.
The rest of the evening, and however long it is before he sees you again he’s probably thinking about you. (He married his childhood sweetheart so I think he himself is a huge sweetheart). He’s a hopeless romantic and is already head over heels before he can put a name to your face.
“Ahhhh, did you see her, Malark? Like, her hair and everythin’??? She was gorgeous.”
He’s thinking about every single detail about you. “Ya gonna scare her away the second you speak to her.”
Much to More’s surprise he doesn’t. Hes super tall and handsome, with a smile to die for, a total dreamboat. He’s stunned when you’re stammering and blushing around him.
I think to speak to you he’d ask you loads of questions about nursing in the army and how you got into it. He’s genuinely fascinated, and when he finds out he’s a year or two older than you, he teases you about it.
would definitely be a little more shy and slower to make a move than some of the other boys. But you’d grow close because of this, he would harass you, he’s harmless and charming and sweet- I think as a nurse in Easy it would be hard to resist him.
so there’s this story that Malarkey has told about when Alton was looting, and he found a pair of knitted, baby boots and completely broke down and started to cry.
I think out of everybody Alton would feel the most comfortable coming to you, and when you just appear in front of him and he’s stood with red eyes, you couldn’t help but engulf him into a hug.
well it’s more like him engulfing you because he’s much taller, but instantly you’d ask him what happened and when he expresses himself you’d leave kisses all over his cheeks and cuddle him a lot.
after that act of vulnerability the two of you would be like two peas in a pod, feelings would be admitted and he’d be super protective over you, especially if you’re out on the field, he feels like his hearts in his throat whenever he watches you run out to treat somebody.
Burton ‘Pat’ Christenson:
christenson genuinely sounds like such an interesting person, and Michael Fassbender is gorgeous omfg.
From what I’ve seen he seems like quite a happy, outgoing guy, so maybe you spot him before he spots you?? Like for a change, you’re the one admiring somebody from a far and feel like you have to chase them.
it’s not that he doesn’t think you’re stunning I think because you’re on the quieter side he doesn’t notice you, but when he does, holy fucking shit ur so fucking drop dead gorgeous and what???
would buy you a drink and comes and sits next to you in the pub, engaging in conversation with you about anything.
He has such a sparkle in his eye and he doesn’t open up about it at first, but he’s got so many interests.
Physically, he was one of the top men in easy which is super attractive to you, (Pat smirks about this) but he’s also artistic, can play the guitar and he can sing?!! He’s a guy of many talents and I think you’d beg him to sing- which he’s too modest about so he doesn’t sadly.
Would probably be super playful with you as a way of flirting.
I think anything was to happen, it would be later in the war during/ after Bastogne.
everybody’s morale is down, but your closest friend seems to be completely and utterly exhausted and close to the brink of a breakdown. When you learn he’d been hit by shrapnel and was too exhausted to move you’re a panicked mess.
You didn’t know whether to slap him or cry when he’s asleep in the field hospital bed. You watch over him and let him sleep peacefully, patching and cleaning him up.
At some point, I think his hand would sneak into yours, half asleep as he’d ask you to stay in a husky voice. Now if that didn’t make your heart leap, I don’t know what else would.
He’s just so soft and gentle, and he’s a really kind guy, so you’d do anything for him except, “Pat, we’re in the hospital, I can’t get in bed with you-“ “I love you though.” Oop- “N-no you’re half asleep.” “Y/N, I love you.”
Would definitely fall hard and fast, you’re his own personal nurse for a couple weeks, and you’re his rock after he lost his closest friends.
After the way you took care of him, he wants nothing more than to spoil you for the rest of your life after the war and bring you home to a comfortable lifestyle where he can give you whatever you wanted.
I think physical touch is his love language, so he’d have a lingering finger wrapped around yours, or a hand on your shoulders at all times.
James Moe Alley:
What a handsome man. Seriously all three of these men are SLEPT on.
I think Moe is a more quieter guy, especially when it comes to women, he’s a little shy and intimidated around you, similar to how Babe is.
let’s say you first meet when you do his physical, you’ve seen so many handsome men so he doesn’t think you’d be the slightest bit interested; but there’s an audible shyness behind your voice, and James is relieved you’re similar to him.
You had to have your hands all over him, and the examination ended up being slightly giggly and awkward. After, it takes a while for either of you to speak one on one, without being in a group.
I think Moe would get a little saddened and disheartened when he see’s other men flirting with you, he sips his beer as he watches you laughing at what they’re saying, questioning why he can’t be that confident around you.
nervous about jumping out of the aeroplane (he had to be pushed out when jumping!) I feel like you’d be able to tell and you’d approach him and soothe his shaking hands.
“Ya’ scared, James? Don’t be scared, I’ve seen a million guys do this and they were all fine.” Knowing you were on the ground below, and you’d just held his hands, he felt like a child, smiling to himself as he plucked enough courage to throw himself out of the plane during the practice jumps.
I feel like he’d need a bit of a push to make a move on you? Maybe one day he sees somebody being rude or disrespectful to you, they’re clearly taking advantage of how nice and reserved you are, so he intercepts, physically barricading his body between yours and the guy harassing you.
“She ain’t interested, pal. You better back off.”
After he’s huffing and puffing, storming away from the annoying guy once he’d finally left you and you chase after him, grabbing his shoulders. to stop him.
“Moe.” With a soft call of his name, you’re on your tip toes kissing him with both your hands on either of his cheeks.
Feels like he’s been kissed by an Angel- holy fucking shit.
after that there’s a genuine connection growing between the two of you, but I feel like it gets cut short when he’s injured in Operation Market Garden.
seeing him like that was horrible, you couldn’t stop crying and Winters had to move you away from treating him because you were too worried. Thanks to your quick action and care he survives despite having 32 shrapnel injuries.
he never has chance to thank you because he’s borderline unconscious and shipped off to a hospital for the next two months.
In the mean time you’d write to one another, James is more confident through writing, and warns you a billion times that he’s gonna ‘bust the fuck out and go AWOL to get back to Easy’.
And he does.
it’s in Bastogne; but hell seeing him again would make you weak in the knees. Alley feels like he’s gonna fall when he sees you and he engulfs you in the biggest cuddle ever. You’re skinny and look exhausted, but you’re alive and safe.
The relationship is so comfortable, you love each other very dearly and Moe never ever forgets how you saved his life when he was injured. Never stops thanking you.
————————————————————————
omfg ??? Im in my feels so much writing about these men? If anybody has any requests surrounding these guys specifically, please let me know and I’ll get writing!!

I made this and was gonna post it at the beginning of this month but talked myself out of it bc “who cares what I’m listening to”. I decided that it actually would be fun to keep up with for the rest of the year though so here it is a month late before I do February’s!
🎶January 2024 Top 5s🎶
Top Artists
1. The Beatles - I periodically fall into phases of listening primarily to the Beatles? Like I always like the Beatles but every once in a while I get obsessed. Perhaps I get possessed by a teenage girl from the 60’s or maybe someone’s dad.
2. Samia - She’s winning the nepo baby game. I love her music so much T-T
3. MICHELLE - Their music is really good and fun! Underrated pop band!
4. MGMT - I got back into them because of the new songs they dropped recently. Honestly amazing how diverse yet consistently good their music is.
5. (G)I-DLE - That new album got a LOT of play in the last week of January. I even Stockholmed myself into enjoying Super Lady.
Top Songs
1. LIT by STAYC - This was my monthly on repeat song. It scratches an itch in my brain. My style is so lit lit lit lit lit liiiiit!
2. GLOW by MICHELLE - Oooh so bouncy and fun let me listening again!
3. want u back by joan - Picture me dancing in my bedroom. Groooving!
4. Here We Go Again by JINI - didn’t think I was listening to this one so much this month but no complaints here. Fantastic song!
5. Mad At Me by Samia feat. papa mbye - Ugh yes! Makes me emotional while also being danceable.

Hey! Dunno how to format this, but I got tagged by @femboty2k for a thing!
Femboty said
"now the tag game was to introduce yourself with:
one tv show
one movie
one album
one video game
I, however, liked that they did two and I am ALSO cute and get to do whatever I want so im gonna do two, too."
So thats what I'm gonna do too because that's fun and I ALSO get to do whatever I want <3
TV SHOWS: Steven Universe (+the Movie & SU:Future) and Samurai Jack!
These two are all time favorites of mine and have been (and continue to be) super inspirational as a visual artist and storyteller! Not to mention that they are so fun and easy to put on and have fun with! They're def two of my biggest comfort shows. Honorable mention to runner ups She-Ra & the Princesses of Power, Gravity Falls, Craig of the Creek, ATLA, and Columbo!
MOVIES: One Hour Photo and Ringu!
Oh boy! This was a harder choice than the two shows, but not by too much. An honorable mention to runner ups Scream (1996), Everything Everywhere All at once, Ginger Snaps, Re-Animator, Bride of Re-Animator, Good Will Hunting, and Dead Poets Society. I really, truly don't know exactly why these two are my favorites above all the rest, but they are. They both hold a really fond place in my heart <3 BTW I prefer The Japanese Ringu over the American The Ring, despite them both being good. I just like the style and pacing of the Japanese one more. I always get super excited when I see Sadako pop up anywhere! I love her in DBD. One Hour Photo has an incredible and underrated performance by Robin Williams, one of my favorite actors, in a role very different than the ones he's most famous for. I love how creepy and almost dream-like the movie is!
ALBUMS: Meliora and Switched-On Bach
These two albums are really significant to me, enough that I own both physically! Ghost is one of my favorite bands ever from the theatrics and story to the music itself. I found Ghost through Meliora, and in my heart Papa Emeritus III will always be my first and fav papa~<3 Switched-On Bach (and Switched-On Bach 2) are beautiful pieces by Wendy Carlos. I know Wendy wants to be defined by her music and not her trans identity, I completely understand that, but whenever I listen to Switched-On Bach I get emotional about the fact that trans people like me have always been here making incredible art for themselves and each other<3 plus I love Moog music, its so fun! Honorable mention to runner ups Transgender Dysphoria Blues, anything by Garbage, anything by Abandoned Pools, and the rest of Ghost's discography post Meliora!
Games: Payday 2 and Team Fortress 2
These two are games I don't really play much anymore, but I once played them RELIGIOUSLY. Day in and day out these two sequels were my entire LIFE for a long time. Countless hours of fun, challenge, and playing dress up! Stylistically, they are both influential to me as well! Honorable mention for runners up Portal, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Plants vs Zombies, DBD, Undertale, Deltarune, Borderlands 2, and Bejeweled 3!
My close Tumblr friends don't like being tagged in stuff like this, but I encourage anyone who sees this to do it if they want!
have a wonderful day!!!!!

This Month in History - July Part 2
This month there are so many pop culture landmark anniversaries that I had to do 2 installments. For Part 1 read here. Here is This Month In History from July 16-31:
July 16, 1999: Eyes Wide Shut opens
In July 1999, Stanley Kubrick's final film was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2014. Happy 25th EWS!
July 21, 1989: UHF opens
In July 1989, Weird Al Yankovic's comedy about an underdog UHF TV station opened. Here is my piece I wrote in 2014. Happy 35 UHF!
July 22, 2014: Alvvays released
In July 2014, the self-titled debut album from Alvvays was released. I've been lucky enough to cover this band's albums and concerts over the last 9 years. But this debut (my #31 album of the 2010s) spawned the near perfect single “Marry Me Archie”, my #3 Song of 2014 and one of the best of the 2010s. In June 2015, I saw them live at Brighton Music Hall and was impressed by their dream-like sound. The band even signed my CD at the merch booth. This debut is the sound of dreamy indie poppers swinging for the fences in a big way. It still holds up! Happy 10 Alvvays!
July 25, 1989: Paul's Boutique released
In July 1989, The Beastie Boys' magnum opus was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2019. Happy 35 PB!
July 26, 2019: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood opens
In July 2019, Quentin Tarantino's look at the changing Hollywood of 1969 opened. I saw this opening week and loved every minute of it! It's like it was tailor-made for a film geek like me. I named it my #1 Movie of 2019 and it made my #10 of the 2010s. Just a few weeks ago I spoke with co-star Nicholas Hammond at Super Megafest about this film. Happy 5 OUATIH!
July 27, 1979: The Amityville Horror opens
In July 1979, one of the earliest and scariest movies I went to see in the movie theater with my parents was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2019. Happy 45th TAH!
July 27, 1984: Ride the Lightning released
In July 1984, Metallica's second album was released. It was a band refusing to fall into the sophomore slump! When I did my Top 5 Metallica Albums list last year, I ranked this at #4! Happy 40th RTL!
July 28, 2004: Garden State opens
In July 2004 the voice of 20-somethings at that time film was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2019. Happy 20th GS!
July 30, 2004: The Manchurian Candidate opens
In July 2004, Jonathan Demme's remake of The Manchurian Candidate was released. This is truly an underrated remake. When it came out it was updated to be about a Gulf War vet and a multinational company. It kind of got lost in the Summer movie shuffle, but over the last few years there's been some revisionist takes on it saying how ahead of its time this was and how amazing it was that in an election year, this slipped through the cracks of a major studio to make a movie with obvious references to Cheney and Halliburton. I picked it up on blu-ray a few years ago and it is actually a very smart paranoid political thriller. Demme was being underestimated since his last film was also a remake (The Truth About Charlie, an update to Charade). But as always Demme delivered! Worth revisiting. Happy 20th TMC!

Top 10 songs of 2023, reviewed by yours truly
As per tradition when Spotify Wrapped comes out I write short reviews of the best songs of the year so here we go:
10. One More Time by blink-182
The biggest reveal from the world of pop punk last year was that blink-182 is back... again. First I was a little sceptical especially after hearing Edging but this song, and its video made me listen. The lyrics are about the long lost friendship between Travis, Mark and Tom, and to be completely honest I shed a couple teardrops the first few times I gave it a listen. Amazing song from an amazing record.
9. Homicide by Magnolia Park
I'm completely new to this band, I found this song randomly in an Instagram reel that caught my attention. It's super catchy, almost Linkin Park-ish vibes that is a little "Octanecore" little pop punk, but nevertheless an absolute banger.
8. Jaded by Spiritbox
Spiritbox is the new shit in the scene, everyone and their mom knows about it. But just a little less than a month ago they put out an EP consisting of 6 melodic and heavy bangers called The Fear of Fear. This song stands out from the EP because of the insanely catchy chorus, the breakdown with the clean guitar melody and just the overall feeling of the song. Courtney has always been open about her influences (even and especially the pop ones) and this song is a great example to it.
7. Lost by Linkin Park
On the 20th anniversary of Meteora, Linkin Park released a bunch of unreleased material from the recording session of the legendary album and this was the first single off of it. What more can I say about it? If you haven't heard it despite liking Linkin Park then shame of you.
6. Without A Whisper by Invent, Animate
Another surprise as I've never been a big fan of the band. Not being so into the Deftones-y spacey vibes before, this band always has been a hit or miss. Until Heavener. It's blended so seemlessly that first I didn't even notice that there's now screaming instead of singing with a bunch of reverb. I still almost never skip this song despite Heavener being released earlier this year.
5. Fake Out by Fall Out Boy
This one is probably the only song on the list that is not a single, not even the top 3 from their album So Much (for) Stardust. The boys are officially back and this song proves it, The falsetto hook in the chorus got stuck in my head after the first few listens. I'm really really glad they are back to playing instrumental music because that's what they do best.
4. Might Love Myself by Beartooth
For me this year was about healing. Healing from a past breakup, losing my previous job, and just in general the depressing reality of adulthood. After hearing the first singles from the latest Beartooth album it was obvious that Caleb, the singer for the band had been through a similar journey prior to writing this record. This song stands out for me because of the overwhelmingly positive self-loving lyrics that are a must-listen when you have been through a lot of shit. I also like the little "whoo" before the second chorus, it really makes it sound like Caleb had a lot of fun recording it.
3. Haunted by Spanish Love Songs
The most underrated band on the list by a landmile. Also probably the most depressing band I've ever listened to, which says something. The whole new record No Joy has some really interesting musical changes from the previous ones, there's less screaming, less distorted guitars, it has more of a The Killers vibe than something off tumblr's 2015 pop punk hardcore best of (looking at you The Story So Far). Haunted is a bittersweet tune about being nostalgically sad about the old days, and for an old fart that is closer to 30 than to 20 it's a comforting thing that I'm not alone with this feeling.
2. LosT by Bring Me The Horizon
What do you get when you mix 'I'm not Okay' and current era Bring Me The Horizon? That's right, this fucking banger. I think throughout the year this song was the only one that I've never skipped. The pop punk-emo feeling is in every note, the breakdown is easily my most favorite of the year, the callout for it is even. "I think i'm gonna break down". Fucking genius by the most dynamic songwriting duo of the music scene, Oli and Jordan. The powerpop elements are also fun to listen to, it just blends really well. 10/10 banger, looking forward to the EP.
Ascensionism/Take Me Back To Eden by Sleep Token
The biggest band of the year was 100% Sleep Token. My Spotify was POSSESSED by their music this year, so obviously it was a tough choice to pick a song from their latest album so I cheated a little with the longest, most progressive songs of the record. Their music feels like a religious experience for me and the best example to this is Ascensionism, the "YOU MAKE ME WISH I COULD DISAPPEAR" line hits, the rap part fits perfectly, the guitars are heavy as balls, the piano intro is the perfect introduction, it's a 12/10 song, it's that good
And honestly I have the same feelings about Take Me Back to Eden. The titular song and its callbacks to Chokehold made me feel like I'm in a chokehold myself. The epitome of great songwriting was when from the nature sounds through rapping we got to the heaviest, low tuned breakdown of the last couple years
So there you have it, my personal top 10+1 list. If you read my review this far, thank you.

Ten Notes About an Album:
Say You Will - Fleetwood Mac (2003)
Personal rating: ●●●●○
1. mr. buckingham why is the song called come 🤨🤨🤨
2. 𝖂𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖊 𝖎𝖘 𝕮𝖍𝖗𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖊 😲
3. you wouldn't say that to bob dylan 👄
4. call me shaquille o'neal the way say goodbye has me straight up balling 😭🏀
5. red rover is the best song on the album and it's a super underrated fleetwood mac song 👍
6. stevie makes more banger (sorry) songs about married men 🧐💃🏼
7. it feels like the band came off some drugs and now they're like "We Realize Things Are Happening in the World 🌎 Like 9/11 and Sensationalism" which is like whiplash because before it was all like "Kill Yourself Because You Don't Love Me and I Don't Love You 🤬... Unless...."
8. say you will👩🏼🧑🦱🥁🧑🤝🧑👭🪇 say you will 👩🏼🧑🦱🥁🧑🤝🧑👭🪇 give me one ☝️ more chance 🥁🥁 at least give me time 🧑🤝🧑👭 to change your mind 👭🧑🤝🧑 that always seems to heal 👧🏼 🎸 the wounds 👧🏼🧑🤝🧑👭if I caaaan get you to dance 👭🧑🤝🧑💃👭🧑🤝🧑
9. bleed to love her = world's sappiest romance song ASMR but I dislike ASMR and also when I was a child my parents would play a copy of the dance CD and maybe there is a deep musical memory burned inside my brain of the lesser bleed to love her version i listened to while i was a baby/toddler (bruh moment) so now bleed to love her is probably the only lindsey buckingham song i don't listen to on purpose
10. this album is not too long and saying that an album is too long makes no sense because why wouldn't you want more enjoyable music from a great band. if you're saying some songs should have stayed solo album songs, okay i can kind of see that, but still. who even came up with that review for say you will bc every time I see something about this album it's always like guhhh it's too longgggg. okay. sending you to the all things must pass and tortured poets department room. try telling me thirty songs that sound the same are better than these 18 now.

hi <3 I am super bad at expanding my taste in music but I started listening to csh bc of you so I'm wondering if you have any more band recommendations you could share?
hi yeah absolutely!! i've got recommendations for pretty much any genre but if you like csh here's some bands/albums you should check out:
glow pt. 2 by the microphones
haha by the garden
in the aeroplane over the sea by neutral milk hotel (one of my favorite albums of all time, you've probably at least heard of them in passing but i know will is a big fan of theirs)
lots of modest mouse's early stuff, i'd start with building nothing out of something and/or the lonely crowded west
portamento by the drums
meth wax's self titled album
come in by weatherday (they are STUPID underrated and soundwise this album reminds me a lot of twin fantasy mirror to mirror)
the first glass beach album by glass beach
pretty much anything by AJJ but my favorite albums of theirs are christmas island and the bible 2 (one of my favorite bands, they're a folk punk group so they're not super similar to csh in sound but they have a lot of that same intense vulnerability in their lyrics that will does)
deathconsciousness by have a nice life (lots of long, structurally ambitious, multi-act tracks. their song earthmover reminds me a lot of some of will's longer songs)
#csh's music is so unique that its hard to pinpoint bands that directly remind me of them#but these are all great and most csh fans i know also listen to them#also its so sweet when people tell me they started listening to csh because of me i feel like a missionary#but lmk if u end up liking any of these or want more recommendations!!#i listen to a pretty wide variety of music so name a genre/vibe and i got you#answered#csh
