Dear Saber Shadower,

During the Autobots' battle against Dark Nova, Star Saber was ambushed by Super Megatron and his Galaman troopers. Though Star Saber fought bravely, he was unable to defeat the resurrected Emperor of Destruction; he only survived the battle through the ejection of his Brainmaster unit, which contained his consciousness. His larger body was left abandoned and lifeless, drifting through space… until it was found by Dark Nova itself. Using its arcane energies, Dark Nova imbued the empty shell with its own essence, corrupting and twisting it into Dark Saber, a servant to do the evil entity's bidding. Dark Nova even used the battle data stored within the shell to create a drone to aid Dark Saber in battle: Calamity Leo, a dark copy of Victory Leo.

Already displeased with Super Megatron's failure to defeat Star Convoy on Earth, Dark Nova concocted a new plan. Dark Saber and Calamity Leo were sent back through time to the year 2026, in the aftermath of the destruction of Deathsaurus's space fortress, with the mission of slaying Star Saber and causing a timestorm that Dark Nova could exploit to its own ends.

On his arrival in the past, Dark Saber gathered a crew of Decepticon warriors, who had been left scattered and disorganised after Deathsaurus's defeat. Leading his followers to Planet Zone, Dark Saber exploited the planet's unfinished defenses and had the other Decepticons engage the Autobots in battle, while he personally challenged Star Saber himself. Though the two were evenly matched at first, when Dark Saber combined with Calamity Leo to form the mighty Calamity Saber, he decisively overpowered Star Saber and moved to strike the killing blow.

However, Star Saber carried a power that his dark counterpart did not. Dark Saber had been created from an empty shell, and lacked the Brain Power that gave Star Saber his legendary bravery. Drawing on the power of the Brain of Courage, Star Saber struck out with all his will, disarming Calamity Saber and driving him back. The evil copy was unable to comprehend where Star Saber's surge of strength had come from, and was helpless to prevent the Autobot Supreme Commander from cutting him down with the Saber Blade; without the animating force of Dark Nova's power holding him together, Calamity Saber crumbled to dust.

Of course, the story of "Dark Saber" would not end there. Taking advantage of the fact that none of the other Decepticons had witnessed their leader's demise, Star Saber would on several occasions use optical camouflage to adopt the appearance of his loathsome copy, going undercover as a Decepticon to investigate their dealings and schemes.

This iceberg is less an objective measure of the community and more just my personal descent into the fandom over the last year or so. Every iceberg I could find online is like bayverse exclusively, and I wanted to make one specific to my experience!! So, this one is mostly idw comics, with some fandom jokes/theories, and little tidbits of the movies/TV shows mixed in. I know a lot of the stuff in the top and middle probably seem super elementary to you guys, but I was really making this with the lense of someone who has absolutely no experience with the lore AT ALL (how I started out) So the top layer is like, basic normal person things to know. Then layer two (still above the water) is slightly niche knowledge that you probably wouldn’t have without SOME kind of immersion in the media. Then you have the first layer below the water, which is still basic esc canon. Then you have the niche cannon. Then you have the WEIRD canon. (I’m looking at you Moon fight). And THEN we’ve got the deep sea stuff! Which… speaks for itself. Anyways, I’m definitely gonna keep adding to this so if you have any ideas please send them in!! And let me know if you have a favorite cause I think some of these are pretty funny :)

Also, as far as lore stuff, I’m basing a lot of these off of the TFwiki IDW timeline which you can find here. So, that’s my provided source.

A funny story about this drawing is that in the middle of the process I got mad-sick, I had dengue and ended up in the hospital for days because of two seizures. When I came back, I finished this piece, so now that I look at it I always think about that!

DEATH METAL MEGATRON

so i've been thinking about these panels specifically a bit more lately and i actually kind of like this scene a bit more than i did before. megatron is offering ravage an out here. and thinking about it, this is likely the first time in a long, long time that anyone has actually cared what ravage wanted when it comes to the decepticons and his place among them. this isn't to say of course that others simply don't care what ravage thinks, but there is no one in ravage's life who would even think to ask him if he wants to be part of the cause anymore. he is ravage; his devotion to the cause is always assumed to be strong simply because of who he is. or at the very least his devotion to soundwave is always assumed. and of course megatron had to be the one to do it, because megatron is one of the few who has said yes to the very same question he's given to ravage.

the other notable example is, of course, when deadlock decided to leave the decepticons and become drift again. ravage's choice to remain seperate from the decepticons isn't as dramatic or complete as drift's or megatron's, but the fact that he chose to remain with megatron on a ship full of autobots rather than to rejoin soundwave's efforts to rebuild the decepticons on earth with galvatron even when it becomes clear that his mission is over... idk. i think it means something. and im not saying "ravage was considering joining the autbots like drift and megs" because you'd honestly have to kill him before he ever did that and he still clearly sees himself as being seperate from the autobots, but idk. im not as against this scene as i was before now that i'm really thinking about it. we're never given a solid reason why ravage decides to stay and it's never expanded upon in later issues, but him using this as an opportunity to "get out" when he's never really been given the chance before to leave (either due to his own obligation/affection towards soundwave, belief in the cause, inability to leave due to the sheer danger leaving the cons would bring him, ect) is Important to Me™️

and he could always claim he was lingering with the lost light to continue keeping an eye on megatron, even though megatron has said he isn't willing to return to the cons and seems pretty damn convinced of it. i still wish we got to see him talk more about the cons in general because of just how intense his intro is:

buuut ravage using this as an opportunity seperate from the cons while using the excuse that he is still watching megatron is a thought that's been fun to chew on for the past little while, so i thought i'd share it.

Megatron just has the right sort of egotistical brand of crazy to think he can order the war to pause while out of his mind on baby making hormones. Especially if the heat/rut is hiting extra hard on the rebound the rebound because of being suppressed. Howwell the war listens varies by continuity.

Optimus and Megatron are basically garunteed to spark each other up in a record breaking hate frag.

The two are holed up in a cave together unable to donate nanites but desperately needing them. But neither will let mates from the oposit faction in or accept a mate the other defeated. Because their both completely off their tits trying to get satisfaction. Which leads to the most akward video call in the history of either faction.

Tarn gets a call from a beat up and scoched Starscream with a battered Soundwave at his side. He's fully prepared to go into denial over the Death of his Lord™️. Instead he's being briefed on Megatron forgot his dose of suppressors as did Optimus and now the two idiots clanged sparklings into each other. The idiots are both puting off distressed carrier signals but they've imprinted on each other as the sire.

"Tarn you hold the distinction of being the most durable mech loyal to the cause. We need you to sacrifice your virtue to save Lord Megatron's sparklings both the ones he's carrying and the ones he hate fragged into Optimus if need be when the incompetent fools fail to provid a sire who can run the gauntlet with you! Those tinny newsparks are the hope of our species! " Starscream sounds impassioned as well as slightly concussed.

"Sparklings: Lord Megatron's heirs regardless of carrier or sire. Decepticon code donation may cancel out Autobot influence." Soundwave's visor and mask are both badly cracked. His voice statics in and out alarmingly over the comm. "Tarn: last best hope for the Cause."

Tarn is just siting there like he got hit with a board.

These cycles are hitting HARD

They've did it

They've came so many times that they can't provide enough for multiple sparklings (especially if, I'm heading you right, a multiple each), plus the war JUST came to a screeching halt I bet (though I imagine in some areas there will still be fighting)

Honestly I'm torn on who should succeed with him... or if nobody does succeed but Tarn

Because I love the idea of Tarn fucking the daylights out of Optimus too For The Sake Of Megatron's Heirs and having a ✨thought process✨ about it

Plus, SOMEONE needs to take care of these two while not under the influence of a heat/rut Cycle. Make sure they're getting fuel/fluids and all that. Those are important when expending so much energy.

Seeing today's Death Battle has really made me dislike the Bayformers movies a lot more.

You're telling me comic Megatron had a whole ass corruption and redemption arc where he forgot the ideals he once fought for and then realized the side he fought against had come to embody those ideas and changed sides and became a hero and saved the universe alongside his longtime nemesis?!

And Bayformers was what we got?! With all that to work with?!

I think Megatron just retroactively became my favorite Transformers character.

New Transformers One trailer had me crying on the floor.

Spoilers underneath!!!

We got more Starscream!!! And one voice line!!

And supposedly Skywarp got a little line too I’m so excited.

The background seekers seem to have a sort of visor on? Maybe a battle mask. I’m still so excited.

My original theory is a little off. So with this new trailer I think Starscream is leading the ‘Decepticons’, and that Megatron will be taking it over. Not what I was expecting. I was hoping Megatron grouped the three main command team together (the Waves, Starscream) but this will make the story move quicker.

But them teaming up to defeat the main villain, then having Megatron turn against Optimus will be so interesting. Cybertron becoming free of the Quintessens(?) and going straight to a Civil War.

If that is the plot.

I cannot wait for the movie to come out.

Side note! Anyone else going to cosplay? I’ve been working on a Tfp Knockout and going to the theater will be a test run.
