God bless Narita for not killing Izaya or anyone in the cast, and opening the gateway to angsty Post-canon/Post-Ketsu reunion stories I am so so thankful this man isn't like Isayama or Gege

I got bored so I'm rambling through all of my Bungou Stray Dogs AU's.
The Sheep King and his Demon AU
Aka Bsd except Chuuya doesn't join the Port Mafia.
The Sheep never betray Chuuya. In fact they are basically one big dysfunctional and loving family.
Chuuya still goes on the search for Arahabaki and meets Dazai. But the Sheep trust him, their wary of Dazai but not Chuuya.
As time goes on, the Sheep warm up to Dazai and basically adopt him like a stray cat. Chuuya and Dazai get together, the Sheep tease them relentlessly for it.
Just a silly lil AU on their antics and Soukoko being Soukoko even though Chuuya remains King of the Sheep.
Agency informant Izaya
Izaya Orihara from Durarara in the world of Bungou Stray Dogs. However this Izaya is quite different, essentially everything in Durarara still happened.
The final fight with Shizuo and the brutal humbling reminder that Izaya was still very much human.
This is an Izaya who has changed, who tries every day to be a better person than who he was.
He came to Yokohama because he was curious if the famous Demon Prodigy was in fact a Demon. And ended up with a whole new life.
He learned to let people in, he learned how to love people. And became the human Shinra always said he could be.
No one from Durarara shows up because Izaya has erased all evidence of him online. He has left Ikebukuro behind and will never return.
Izaya is like Katai in the way he's not technically a member of the Agency but he's still with the Agency. The Agency adore him, Dazai is basically his little brother at this point.
Sometimes Izaya wonders if he deserves this, but he's thankful anyway.
Izaya's firecely protective over them all, and helps out when shit goes down. Usually from behind the scenes.
He has an ability, Sunsets Last Applause, that functions like Ango's except it works through looking at people rather than touching objects.
An AU that takes place across different moments and arcs in canon, either about Izaya or he's in someway involved.
The Port Mafia brothers AU
Aka Bsd except Akutugawa and Dazai have a good sibling relationship
Basically that.
Dazai finds Akutugawa and recruits him into the Port Mafia. What Dazai didn't expect was for Mori to put him in charge of Akutugawa.
Dazai freaks out, because he's in no way equipped to raise a child (child in question is 2 years younger than him.)
The reason Dazai freaks out is because he wants to do right by Akutugawa. He saw a scared kid and wanted to help him, but he doesn't know what to do.
Oda is there to give him advice and reassure him that he'll be fine. That Akutugawa will have to learn to stand on his own two feet in this organisation.
You need to guide him, be a helping hand. Dazai doesn't abuse Akutugawa in this, at all.
In the Port Mafia, Akutugawa is basically Dazai's shadow. He's silent, he's never far from him and almost treated like the furniture, a bodyguard.
For his own protection, no one can know their true relationship especially Mori.
Outside of the Port Mafia Akutugawa is Dazai's silly, bitchy little brother and Dazai is his dramatic, dumbass older brother. Their idiots and they love each other.
Silly lil AU that's basically Dazai and Akutugawa's antics, along with Gin. And Oda keeping an eye on them with Ango.
Moonlit Butterfly
When Atsushi's ability manifested, the Orphanage called the Special Division of Unusual Powers to take him away.
They were fascinated by his ability, see they wanted to start the Hunting Dogs programme. But they didn't have proof a human could survive the procedures.
Hence, where Atsushi came in as their lab rat.
However at some point, Fukuchi learned of him and said such a strong ability couldn't just be wasted like this.
So along side being a lab rat, now Atsushi was being trained by Fukuchi. And let's just say Fukuchi was not a kind instructor. No one treated Atsushi like he was human.
The great war came and Atsushi, now 10 years old was deployed as a soilder. Which is where he met the other kid in his regiment, 11 year old Yosano Akiko.
Yosano had been working at a sweets shop just last week, but was persuaded by Doctor Mori to join the war effort. He told her she could save lives with her ability, and she wanted too.
Neither really knew what they'd signed up for, though it wasn't like either had a choice.
Yosano is the first person to show Atsushi kindness, the first to treat him like a human. Both of them have a sibling relationship and everyone else in the regiment keeps their distance.
They love Yosano one moment and than hate the next as their angel of death. And Atsushi is deemed a demon simply for existing.
Well, not everyone thinks that. The only person outside of the duo who are kind to them is Shunzen Tachihara.
He's an older sibling to them. Yosano and Atsushi remind him of his little brother and Shunzen's always there to let them have those little pockets of ease and joy during the war.
(Entire regiment: that's an angel/Demon
Shunzen Tachihara: Those are children, leave them alone!)
AU is basically the embodiment of the universe bought them together, ripped them apart and somewhere along the way they found each other again.
Because Shunzen... Meets his canon fate, Yosano and Atsushi are seperated after the war. Yosano to the psychiatric hospital, Atsushi back to the lab.
But with the efforts of one Genuis Detective they are bought back together again.
And if I can figure out a plot, this one might become an actual fic. Mostly centers on them in the war but does include afterwards.
The Wary Weretiger
The Orphanage never let Atsushi forget who he was. Atsushi remembers killing Shibusawa and was told about why he came.
Shibusawa wanted the tiger, most people want the tiger. Atsushi doesn't really know why, just that it's unique the tiger and because of the power it holds.
The Headmaster really told Atsushi almost everything. The man was many things but a liar wasn't one of them.
He taught Atsushi that the only one you can trust is yourself and Atsushi took that seriously. The only being Atsushi trusts other than himself is the tiger.
The tiger and Atsushi are close, they are the only one each other have. Because of that Atsushi has better control but not completely.
Atsushi doesn't trust anyone else. Every adult in his life has let him down, has tortured and abuse him.
He runs away from the Orphanage and lives on the streets.
He knows the Guild are after him, he's met Fitzgerald and knows about Fyodor. Atsushi has even met Doctor Mori, who was an old friend of the Headmaster and curious about his ability.
So when Atsushi gets asked to join the Agency, he refuses. Because he believes they just want his ability. They did start the whole thing by searching for the tiger, so... Fair assumption.
And while, true the fact the rampaging tiger is actually a homeless teenager definitely shifts everyone's priorities.
They work to build up trust with Atsushi, wanting to show they truly want to help him.
But Atsushi doesn't want their help, he's gotten this far on his own. He's been hunted his whole life, known pain as a constant companion.
He doesn't know what to do in the face of genuine kindness.
Unfortunately the threat will continue to grow and Atsushi will end up having to ally with the tiger.
He's smart, cold and has a short temper. But underneath it all he's just a kid that wants a home.
The Agency swear they'll give him one, one day.

Durarara: the most heinous and devious manipulators.
Since I crafted a poll on these four individuals recently. I'm trying to make a brief description of each of them and everything they've done in the series so far.
SPOILER ALERT:
Izaya Orihara: An info broker who wanders Ikebukuro and works out of Shinjuku. Izaya has a very strong god complex. Loving all humans and wants all humans to love him back.
Having a pair of twin sisters Kururi and Mairu. Both of them despise him and rarely get along.
He despises people who don't believe in an afterlife. Faking suicide pacts and whatnot. But what he truly despises is monsters who take the form of humans.
Case in point his former classmates Shizuo Heiwajima, a man with unnatural superhuman strength. Izaya made his life a living hell afterwards, putting low life delinquents and fogs up against him just a toy with him. After high school, they continued the feud up until the point where Izaya framed Shizuo for a crime he didn't commit and went underground and Shinjuku.
Izaya people are toys for his entertainment. Causing chaos that he is in control of. Manipulating people using his online IDs of Kanra and Chrome. Even making his former classmate Nakura dress up like him and getting plastic surgery to change his face, courtesy of the underground doctor and former classmate Shinra Kishitani.
Izaya manipulates the Raira Trio of Mikado Ryuugamine the leader, founder and admin of The Dollars. Masaomi Kida the leader of the Yellow Scarves and Anri Sonohara the wielder of the demonic blade Saika and its Slasher victims.
All to create a war that he can control. Involving other groups such as the Blue Squares and Awakusu into the fray. Using the head of the Dullahan Celty Sturluson aka the Headless Rider. Theorizing that she is a Valkyrie, wants to perish in a battle and be taken off to Valhalla. Izaya sustained serious injuries in his final fight with Shizuo Heiwajima on the streets of Ikebukuro. He was taken awhile by his allies within his Alliance.
In the spinoff: A Sunset With Izaya Orihara and A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara. It shows him suffering the aftermath of his fight with Shizuo, bound to a wheelchair and is entangled in murder mysteries.
In SH aka Snake Hands: Izaya is mentioned numerous times by old and new characters alike. Showing how much his influence stays in Ikebukuro, whether he is there or not.
Aoba Kuronuma: A student at Raira Academy and founder of the color gang The Blue Squares. A denizen of Ikebukuro, Aoba keeps tabs on what's going on in the city.
A cunning and devious teen manipulator, even at a young age Aoba started trick and frame others. First by framing his older brother and second leader of the Blue Squares Ran Izumi by setting his room on fire and later getting beaten up by his father.
Izumi got back against Aoba later on. During the first war of the Blue Squares vs the Yellow Scarves, Aoba feared that things were getting out of hand and requested Izumi's help in the matter by kidnapping Saki Mikajima, the girlfriend of the Yellow Scarves leader Masaomi Kida.
Both sides had devious manipulators on hand: Aoba using Izumi as a scapegoat, being sent to prison, becoming scarred and scared of fire now. As Izaya uses his Saki, who idolizes him as a god to convince her to date Masaomi. Which led to confidence issues because he didn't save Saki from Izumi and the Blue Squares.
Years later, Aoba enrolled in Raira Academy and befriends the Orihara Twins, Kururi and Mairu. Once corruption started to seep into the Dollars, Aoba used it as an opportunity to convince Mikado Ryuugamine, the leader of the Dollars to lead the Blue Squares and use them to weed out the corruption within the Dollars.
Despite the two being cut from the same cloth, Aoba Kuronuma truly despises Izaya Orihara.
By doing so, he sees what Mikado is truly capable of. By the end of the series, he was going to deliver some flowers to Mikado who was wounded in the hospital. Aoba was stopped by Mizuki Akabayashi of the Awakusu, threatening him to back off Mikado as well as Anri Sonohara. Seeing him show fear up and backs off.
In SH, Aoba is seen as a primary informant for the main characters, being the upperclassmen and mentor to Kuon Kotonami.
Kasane Kujiragi: Secretary to Jinnai Yodogiri and half-aunt to Ruri Hijiribe. Once the real Yodogiri passed away, Kasane kept the Yodogiri Shining Corporation going on. Using the talent agency as a front to hunt & smuggle non-human entities. While using proxies for Yodogiri and assigning them each a number.
Later on, Kasane becomes jealous of Ruri obtaining her freedom and hires her to be the next idol star. Using her to perform in secret for wealthy individuals. Showing what Ruri's bloodline could do.
Using the Yodogiri proxies to manipulate Ruri to do so or her father will die. The truth later came out and Ruri took her revenge as a serial killer known as Hollywood and got a new contract with Jack O'Lantern Entertainment.
Later on, Kasane along with one of the Yodogiri proxies were enlisted by Seitarou Yagiri, the head of Yagiri Pharmaceuticals to obtain the head and body of the Dullahan known as Celty Sturluson, the demonic blade Saika in the possession of Anri Sonohara and Ruri Hijiribe's cursed body.
Around this time, all of the Jinnai Yodogiri proxies were taken out by Izaya Orihara and his alliance. Leaving Kasane Kujiragi to reveal herself as a mastermind of the organization known as Jinnai Yodogiri and a Saika wielder as well. Now giving herself the first taste of freedom, she confronts Anri Sonohara and Haruna Niekawa. Revealing more hidden truths about Saika an offers to buy it off of Anri.
Later that night, Kasane introduces herself to Shira Kishitani and Celty Sturluson Kasane kisses Shira in front of Celty and reveals that she infected him with Saika's curse.
Celty as a black smoke entity, chases down Kasane who abducts Shinra. Using Saika to swing through the city like Spider-Man/Witchblade hybrid. Kasane was able to ensnare Celty. But in the end she ultimately failed to contain and her contract with Yagiri Pharmaceuticals ended.
In the end, Kasane saves Ruri Hijiribe from her stalker Kisuke Adabashi, who has been operating a secret sect within the Dollars.
Throughout her appearance in the series, she seems emotionless to an extent. Only when the Yodogiri proxies were disposed of. She began truly acting on her own accord. Collecting cat ear headbands and getting into cosplay. All while happy to play the role as the villain in the story.
In SH, Kasane returns to assist in financial support to fellow Anri Sonohara to reopen her family's antique shop. Along with some help from Mizuki Akabayashi, Masaomi Kida and Saki Mikajima to get the business up and running.
In Volume 4, Kasane Kujiragi meets with Celty Sturluson to discuss the Slugger attacks. Kasane was had ownership of called Bannanjin. An item is not a cursed hammer with a mind of its own, like Saika. It's just a normal hammer crafted by a blacksmith from the late Edo period. Which gives off a hypnotic effect that amplifies holders desire. She secretly placed the Bannanjin without telling Anri Sonohara.
Kuon Kotonami: A young man who has recently started Raira Academy along with Yahiro Mizuchi and Himeka Tatsugami. Founder of the odd job group Snake Hands (based off of Yahiro's urban legend alter ego). Along with Celty Sturluson, they investigate crimes and become bodyguards. Taking on whatever weirdness the city brings them.
Kuon is known to hang out with the Blue Squares on occasion along with his upperclassman Aoba Kuronuma, the Blue Squares leader and founder. Training in self defense at the Rakuei Gym, where Mairu Orihara and Akane Awakusu train at.
While investigating the disappearances around the Headless Rider, Kuon antagonized Shizuo Heiwajima and got beaten up by him. Afterwards, Yahiro Mizuchi took on Shizuo. Causing a new urban legend to be born.
Throughout the series, Kuon gave off the feeling similar to Izaya Orihara. Even the other locals in Ikebukuro acknowledged that, Yahiro and Himeka could already see through his facade. More was later on confirmed by his sister Nozomi Kotonami. Who told Yahiro and Himeka about their past as foster children being abused and was saved by Izaya Orihara.
Nozomi worships Izaya, as Kuon wants to become just like him. Which leads him to stage events and manipulate others. He's still not on par with Izaya, Aoba or even Kasane. As Kuon prior to dying his hair green, talks to formal associate of Izaya Orihara, Namine Yagiri.
But, Celty Sturluson and Yahiro Mizuchi tries to steer Kuon down a better path. Despite the fact he wants to replace Izaya, he despises humans. Which makes them more of an Anti-Izaya in this perspective.
But since Durarara SHx4 is the last volume we see Kuon Kotonami in. It's hard to tell what path he'll lead down the line.

[Image Description: A black banner outlined in a red blood splatter with the text, Whumpmas In July 2023 in red text. Underneath is two separate strings of Christmas light with alternating yellow, red, and green bulbs]
-> Day 4 - "Share Whump Media"
Last year for @whumpmasinjuly-archive , I remember, this was one of the harder ones to do and I even started making a mental list a few days back so I had one for this... And now I can't remember it 😅. So to the best of my abilities, here is some good Whump Media I can think of right now! (Spoiler free!) (Also Here's Last Year's List)
Tv shows:
Dominion (Tv Show) - This show has so much good Whump! I mean every episode has something new happening and it makes twist that you don't even expect! Season 2 is when it really kicks up so I highly recommend it!
The Almighty Johnson's - This show is not whumpy at all really, it's a very funny show actually but like many of the other media's on this list, it has that angsty family dynamic as well as that one scene in Season 3 Episode 2 with Anders (if you know you know) but let's just say it really opened my mind of Whump with Anders.
White Collar - Not a whumpy show per say but Neal Caffrey (who is played by Matt Bomer might I add) tends to get himself into some crazy situations some of which are, being captured, shot in the leg, drugged (multiple times actually), deprived of oxygen, and a multitude of other things. It's a miracle he's still alive... Well... 😉 Anyways good show!
Thirteen - Not necessarily Whump also (I know, I know) but this show really opened my eyes to the concept of Stockholm Syndrome and it's really honestly fascinating. The actors are all amazing and the music is amazing as well and the story line is beautiful. It's quick watch and I really really recommend it.
Movies:
My heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It Too - Let me be honest here these movies are all about cannibalism and children to some degree. This movie is so good and makes for a good Erie horror movie. As far as horror goes I can't really say if it's scary or anything because I was raised on horror movies and honestly I've become so numb to them so, proceed with caution on these.
The Dark - Girl meets boy, boy—yeah no. The boy was kidnapped and tortured before a girl comes along and eats the guy who did that to him. She then takes the boy along with her where they both support each other and become friend. It's actually quite an adorable movie that left me very sad at the end but such a good movie.
Let The Right One In - A swedish film based off of the book by the same name. This kinda has the same concept as the movie above and I love the ending of this one.
Let Me In - This is the American version of the movie above and while I recommend watching the original first, I still recommend this version too, because they are both really good.
Books:
I've re-read Call Me By Your Name about 4 or 5 times in the last year... So I can not give recs as I have not consumed any other books 😅
Manga/Anime:
I haven't done much watching/reading as of late (since 2020 I mean) and so this is based purely off of memory
Durarara - I might have listed this one last year, but teenaged me was obsessed with Izaya's character and at the end of the anime & light novel & manga, he ends up badly injured and it leaves you wondering about what happens to him, but then it picked up in another light novel called "A Sunset With Izaya Orihara" and my gosh I highly recommend it.
K project: Lost Small World - Aside from me sobbing when I read this (and again when I watched it) the character Saruhiko Fushimi does not have a good upbringing and it really touches on child neglect, child abuse (verbally, mentally, and I can't exactly remember but maybe physically) as well as how that affected him as he transitioned into adulthood. There is also a part where he is sick and Misaki Yata, his friend, takes care of him but at the same time it touches on how neglectful his parents truly are.
Mirai Nikki - I think I said this one last year but I remember watching this when it first aired and gosh it was so good and if memory serves me correctly Episode 25 was a good Whump episode (take my word with the tiniest grain of salt).
Fruits Basket (2001 [no not the new one] & Manga) - Odd addition to the list? Yes, but for 6 year old me when I read & watched this it was an awakening. Me being into Whump is probably because of this manga/anime. One, Yuki has bad asthma and they often bring that up in the series which makes for some really good worried/comfort scenes. And later on in the manga there is so much messed up stuff and I can't remember it well because it's been like 12+ years since I've read it but the manga is simply beautiful and holds a dear place in my heart.
Princess TuTu - Okay okay give me a second to explain! This anime takes the story of swan lake, the ugly duckling etc and gives them something more and Ah! These early 2000's/late 1990's anime's/manga's had a similar theme sometimes and it was a protagonist that is made to be the antagonist against their will and pretty much you didn't know who was who and they do that beautifully with Mytho, Rue, Fakir, and Ahiru. Also I always loved Mytho's and Fakir's relationship. This was one of the first animes I watched and like fruba, it holds a special place in my heart.
Sugar Sugar Rune - remember I was saying these lat 90's/early 2000's anime's had a theme? Well this is also in that theme and Pierre certainly fits that theme but in a different way than Mytho does. This anime and manga is very plot based so I won't say much but it's a good watch and read and constantly has you cheering on the characters but then something happens and yeah, highly recommend.
I feel like I gave a bunch of very fluffy media with little grains of Whump in them 😅. Nevertheless, all of these are good and do have some form of Whump in them and I really love all of these things!

OK HIEEEE
Tumblr media
tags from @facelessmaniac on their AMAZING art of Kotetsu
Her favorite dinosaur is the Velociraptor and her favorite color is is the muted purplish red her favorite juice is white grape juice she loves rabbits and desperately wants a pet rabbit but the answer is NO (at least until she hits 12 then shizuo surprises her anyway despite izaya still maintaining a solid 'no' on the subject) She does inherit Shizuo's strength and SOME of his temper, but she's much better at managing frustration (this is actually THANKS to shizuo and also izaya)
Oh also just in case I need to be very clear, my Izaya is ALWAYS ftm-nonbinary, I flip flop on Shizuo every so often but he is also always some flavor of trans in my head. In this particular one he's nonbinary but has a full time job so he's not worried about all that rn yfm
I don't want to clog the entire dash so I'll throw the rest under the cut :3
The CoParenting with Izaya Orihara au completely overturns the spin off series BUT I named it this particular way because of the spin offs. I wanted it to have a similar vibe but an obviously different timeline!
I did a little bit of number crunching based off of Izaya's stabbing, since I'm pretty sure it's the last solid date we get in the main series. So if we assume that Izaya on or around his birthday hooked up with Shizuo at some point and then later got stabbed. Hospital, and then into Ketsu and the final curtain arc.
I'M ALSO slowly but surely chipping away at a fic for this, fine details and all that, as it's been slowly gaining interest since I started doodling it every so often. :3
oh oh bonus! I had help deciding on her name from a friend of mine on twitter! (check out his merch and etsy store btw for shizaya stuff!!!!)
Orihara Kotetsu / 折原 虎鉄 虎 - tiger 鉄 -iron/blades
we were chatting about it and tbqh I fell in LOVE with this particular suggestion from him
Tumblr media
Anyway, by the time the final curtain arc happens and Izaya wakes up out of Tokyo he'd find out he's being given the option to move forward or terminate the initial pregnancy, he'd be about 6-8 weeks in, give or take an extra week. This would be the earliest possible sign, and truthfully despite all of the bodily trauma it's early enough on that it could really go either way for him if he decides to move forward.
Which, he does. Inexplicably. As in he can't really say for himself why he decides to keep her, something something "I can do it right this time" maybe. (snippet from the co-parenting fic draft)
Tumblr media
In the fic I'm hinting at the beginnings of Sunset HOWEVER, the events change and ultimately he and Sozoro move into a more underground role in his work. i really wanted to work himari and haruto into this au but I have a slightly different one where instead he and shizuo coparent THEM instead of Izaya having Kotetsu so don't worry there's more than one! in fact, the initial beginnings of sunset are what instead implore him to start reaching out to shizuo (albeit anonymously) about their daughter
Over the course of each trimester he sends Shizuo physical copies of ultrasounds yada yada, all anonymously as well. He still has that PTSD response, and he's still in a wheel chair. The final fight was a lot for him, it will always be a lot for him. But fuck he can't keep this child from Shizuo forever. he doesn't want to. In a perfect world this all went so differently.
But then she's born! and she's beautiful and Izaya knows that Shizuo's hair isn't naturally blond but it's not until he's holding her and he realizes "oh he's not blonde. I've never seen his natural hair before." and when Kotetsu's hair starts growing Izaya wonders if she got Shizuo's natural hair color, it's lighter than Mairu and Kururi's hair. It's just him and Sozoro and this baby and then Nec comes into the picture as a sort of secretary (this will be detailed in the fic)
Izaya continues to send Shizuo anonymous updates, the day she's born he sends one of those "congrats you're the father!" type cards something something Shizuo has started to look for them himself at this point.
EVENTUALLY he finds a way to contact Izaya back, and Kotetsu is roughly 6 months old when he finally does, to which Izaya concedes and reveals a location but remember he's still dealing with his trauma both physical and mental from the final fight. he's a bit better off and can walk a bit but still largely needs his chair if they're going out of the house. it will be good for kotetsu's other father to be in the picture!
They do not get together right away, tbh. It's probably the second slowest of burns I'm writing, but I can't smash them together like barbies in this like i'd like. In actuality Shizuo is not able to get close to Izaya at all, Izaya can't even look at him while he's wearing the bartender uniform. He needs to stay completely out of arms reach of Shizuo in order to have a conversation with him for the first few months. The closest they get is when Shizuo passes Kotetsu over to him before stepping back to make him feel safer.
It's really uh HARD and very hurt/comfort of me, but it is a slow burn where Izaya does pursue physical therapy if only for the sake of his daughter and finally they settle somewhere outside of Tokyo. Shizuo is not willing to leave his daughter behind so he stays nearby, eventually just moving in and slowly. Very slowly they get to a point where they are softly together.
Kotetsu inherits Shizuo's strength around 7/8 years old. Literally only finding out because they're trying to go somewhere and she's looking for her bunny stuffy (Mr. Usagi, btw. He's the first gift Shizuo was able to give her)
this is an unfinished comic of the moment
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
eventually izaya is at a point where he can use his cane more than the chair but there are still bad days where he needs his chair, so they never really get rid of it.
oof this has gotten so so sosososososososososo long and now I'm feeling shy again BUT please feel free to ask any and all questions about this particular au it's in my top 3 favorites of ones I've made. (the other 2 are pet sematary/see you on the other side + saika possession which I have mainly imagined in my noggin if ur curious)
I'm also still working on compiling things and making ACTUAL reference sheets for some of my characters + aus so that they're a little easier to find and read up on :')
Thank u everyone for ur interest in Coparenting with Izaya Orihara its uh...really personal to me specifically and definitely the closest one to my heart.
further art of her and some little comics can be found HERE on my art blog and my asks are open here and on my art blog if anyone has any questions :)!
Going to yap Abt kotetsu & co-parenting au today so watch out

Kazuhisa seeing Izaya for the first time is never not funny. Imagine hearing about this mysterious man, a possible threat, and then when you see this man he is sitting in a wheelchair trying to seem elegant with a wine glass in hand (full of barley tea, not even wine) while a child is pushing him around at full speed in this high quality hotel room and spilling the tea everywhereshsjsn im done

This post is for those who do not know about ableism. What is ableism, you ask? Ableism is the belief that “able-bodied people” or superior to those with disabilities. However, the definition is not only defined by the belief that only non-disabled people can living fulfilling lives, but also that disabled people cannot be strong, that their disability equals weakness, or a fate worse than death.
I have heard rumors over the last couple of days about Kakashi Retsuden カカシ烈伝 and that the fact that Naruto was sick freaked the people the fuck out. There were cries that single page out of a 200+ novel was bad writing, and now Naruto wouldn’t be able to fight Jigen.
And that it was lazy writing for an author to have a character become sick or physically weakened.
First, those who spread rumors without knowing the facts will only be disappointed and spread misinformation. Secondly, we don’t know what Naruto’s illness is. Thirdly, Naruto and Jigen haven’t even met, much less fought. Fourthly, the lazy writing argument is stupid.
I have heard this line before.
To quote Levi, “All of them, whining like brats.” Interestingly enough, the character was the focus on the “lazy writing.”
To say that Levi’s death by a suicide bomb by Zeke is the definition of stupid. Would you say that death by starvation or malnutrition is stupid, because a lot of people in the Underground died from those conditions.
Zeke was in a bind in SNK 114. He could not move, his most feared enemy had him cornered, and he had nothing else on his mind besides ending himself and Levi because of it. It was because of Levi that Zeke’s best plan was to blow themselves up with a bomb.
How is this stupid?
Oh, I know why.
People were expecting Levi to die in a blaze of glory, or against some magnificent foe that would end his life.
Death doesn’t work that way. RL does not work that way.
And people who say that Levi’s death is “stupid” and that his life is over because he probably lost an arm or a leg...
Is that really true? Someone’s life isn’t over because they lost a leg or an arm. They become part of a community that has survived despite the best of humanity to snuff us out.
Getting the “Might Guy” treatment is also ableist. Or maybe, it is simply because when Might Guy was saved by Naruto and that he was alive in a wheelchair, fans were in an uproar.
I remember it well because I too agreed. This was not from a disability standpoint, but from a medical standpoint. Might Guy should have died from the effects of the Eight Gates. His body was crumbling into ashes. The blaze of glory was not an option. Now Might Guy had to spend the rest of his days in a wheelchair.
Something in the recent anime adaptation made me admire Guy more than anyone else. In the novel, when Kakashi said that he would do anything to heal Might Guy’s legs, Guy told him,
“What do two legs matter? As long as I am by your side...”
That sentence also reflects Levi’s situation too.
If Levi had something to live for, a friend like Kakashi to live by his side, then perhaps it wouldn’t matter if he was disabled or not. But Erwin is dead, and Levi has failed to kill the Beast Titan again.
The issue is that Levi will, supposedly be “weak” because of his disability. He won’t be able to fight anymore. He won’t fulfill the fantasies that we had for him.
Death is apparently preferable to becoming weak and the abilities gone, because all people who are in a wheelchair don’t exist and would rather be dead than be weak, right?
Don’t make me laugh.
As of right now, Naruto’ s illness is unknown. Shikamaru only said. [ままじゃ、ままナルトの一生…」 It doesn’t mean Naruto is dying. The translation said, “If this continues, for his entire life...” Being sick is similar to a disability by the pity people have towards us, the underestimation people have, always.
But it does not mean your life is over. It does not mean that you are ready to roll over and die! There are less painful days and more painful ones, but that doesn’t mean that our lives are over.
Ableism in anime exists. How many times have I seen a weak (typically female) individual bedridden and unable to stand due to illness?
In The Promised Neverland, Lucas, who had physical disabilities and facial scarrs due to fighting demons and used a cane, had “a whole” body with no scarring in the afterlife as he reunited with his friends who died.
That is almost as bad as people posting pictures of Stephen Hawking walking and standing after his death.
If there is a person with a disability, there is a common trope of wanting to be cured by loved ones or the person with the disability itself. Tegami Bachi also had this trope, but Sylvette Suede was at least useful and not used as a pity devise. However, in the last chapter, Sylvette stands out of her wheelchair.
Emil, a blind girl, was an antagonist due to the abuse she suffered as a child and didn’t even get any sympathy from Lag, out of all people, for the complexity of the abuse and the town people’s history.
It not only paints disability in a negative light, but also ignores the trauma of child abuse, neglect, and emotional abuse Emil suffered through her life only to die at the end.
What kind of message does that send to people, especially children with disabilities?
Koe no Katachi is a brilliant work. It is not perfect, but the main focus is on redemption and self-love by a former bully, not on the poor life of Shouko.
In Sunset with Orihara Izaya, the main character Izaya uses a wheelchair. Some, including Izaya state that he deserves to be in the situation he is in now. However, I do not view this as ableism.
Izaya is a manipulative man with a history of observing his “beloved humans” and observing them destroying their lives. By no means, is he a good character. However, he is not a villain. Shinra, Izaya’s childhood friend, says as much.
In volume 13 of Durarara!! Izaya and Shizuo try to kill each other one last time. Shizou, using his superhuman strength, throws Izaya against a building that causes internal bleeding, a spinal cord injury, and many other injuries.
But, hey, Izaya tried to set Shizuo’s building on fire.
Eventually, Izaya is taken away by his “allies” for treatment. His wounds are massive, and it unknown if he would survive or not.
Izaya himself states that he deserves the pain. Even though his broken arms and other internal wounds are healed, it causes him great pain to stand or even walk. The author has confirmed that the pain in Izaya’s legs are psychosomatic and are from mental trauma. Two years after the final battle, Izaya’s pain has not improved, because he refuses to go to physical therapy because he deserves the pain for not acknowledging “Shizu-chan” as human. He acknowledges that he has been a coward, and that his love for humans was a selfish one. He did not get close to his “precious humans” and simply observed them. This pinpoints a reason for Izaya’s behavior and psychology.
Izaya had to raise his twin sisters on his own as a child. His parents were never around, and his “loving” father noticed with concern that Izaya was rather anti-social as a child. Simply observing humans and their behavior continued to be Izaya’s favorite hobby.
Izaya is afraid to love. He is afraid to be kind because his parents never showed him love in the first place. His sisters said they would be sad “ for a little bit before they would laugh” if he died.
Izaya distanced himself from his “humans,” cowardly and selfish, as he acknowledged years later.
However, the disability does not stop him from working. Oh, no. That is why I believe Izaya is not a victim of ableism. He continues to work as a information broker and actually helps people. Although he had some involvement in their fathers’ deaths, Izaya is the semi-guardian of two children name Hinami and Haruto after their mothers tried to kill each other and then their children. He saved them from actual death, whereas before, he would have been content to see what “his precious humans would do next” and leaving the children on their own after saving them.
At the end of the novel, a young couple was freed from bondage because of Izaya.
He even allows Haruto to spin him around in his wheelchair to the point where he falls off. He does manage to hold onto a coffee table though and transfers his body back into the wheelchair.
So, before any of you whine about lazy writing, think about ableism.

Not sure cause i haven’t read much of the original durarara, but Izaya post-ketsu is...different when it comes to his hyperfixation towards humanity? his loving all humans lost some of its manic edge and comes off more empathetic (fake empathetic?)
I also find him more “problematic” than he used to be, no matter the novel’s repetition that he’s only “fair” and above good and evil...I still think there’s no real fairness and it’s an excuse to not say he’s evil tho he kinda is

Agency informant Izaya
The gun in Ango's hand is sent flying as a throwing knife slices through the air and cuts through it like butter.
"We won't be hurting Atsushi to help him remember." Says Izaya, a second knife in his hand. He sounds calm but the look in his eyes is cold.
Daring anyone to disagree with him.
No one does.
"Good, now Atsushi" he softens, wheeling himself over to him. "We have three options, and you can choose which path we take."
Izaya holds up a hand cutting him off "there are no wrong answers. I want you pick whatever is the most comfortable with you, can you do that for me?"
Atsushi nods.
The tense atmosphere in Anne's room starts to relax at his words.
There was no way in hell Izaya was going to allow anyone to hurt these brats, official Agency member or not they were his brats.
Ango's usual tactics weren't welcome here. That first knife throw was a warning shot, the next wouldn't miss.
"Option 1, we simply wait until you recover and remember naturally. Option 2 we talk about it to jog your memory." Izaya looked down, he didn't want to include this but knew he had to at least suggest it.
"Or option 3, I use my ability on you to get the information."
Atsushi looked down, thoughtful. Weighing up the options and trying to figure out which to take.
Despite the urgent situation, Izaya couldn't help the burst of pride in his chest.
"Option 3" is what Atsushi finally settled on. Izaya froze, he hadn't expected that at all. He was certain option 2, maybe even 1 but...
"Atsushi, you know I can't pinpoint which memories I see. Even if we start talking to jog your memory and I use my ability... I will see more than this." Says Izaya, serious and frantic.
Izaya's ability was much like Ango's, being able to obtain memories. But while Ango's worked on objects, Izaya's worked on people.
People have a lot more memories that objects do. Izaya had methods to find the information he needed.
But there was always a chance he'd see something you'd rather he didn't, because it wasn't precise.
It was an ability as flawed as its user.
But Atsushi just smiles at him. "I know, but I trust you." He says, eyes full of earnest and warmth.
Trust.
Maybe he had changed along the way, because someone trusted Izaya Orihara with their deepest darkest secrets
He almost laughed.
He almost cried.
And not for the first time Izaya questioned how he was allowed to know such wonderful people like Atsushi.
"I'm sorry...I will turn it off as soon as I find what we need. Nothing more nothing less." Promises Izaya and Atsushi smiles again. "I know, I trust you."
And fuck Izaya was definitely gonna cry after all this was over. And give Atsushi a long overdue hug.
Izaya took a deep breath, emptying his own mind and getting back on task. "Think about the conversation we had earlier, of the page. Only of the page and it's location."
He waits until Atsushi nods.
"Ability: Sunset's Last Applause." Says Izaya, glowing golden rings appearing in his eyes.
.... Oh he was definitely going to hug Atsushi. And possibly kill a few caretakers.

Me: Izaya literally destroyed Himari and Haruto's families only to fulfill his selfish desire to observe humans. He uses them as his lackeys despite the fact that they're both children and cut them off from the rest of society to the point the only people they now know are his others collaborators. Himari vehemently hates him but she's forced to follow his orders and Haruto is literally so traumatised that he desperately clings to him to keep himself together. That's so fucked up
Also me: omg he's a dad. I can't believe it- dadzaya. He has children those are his children he's a dad-
