Our Closest Star

Sun, sun, rise into the sky

Clear away the dread night

The stars fade and clouds roll on by

But why can't you stay?

Oh sun, why must you go so soon?

Don't you enjoy being awake at noon?

What have you seen that makes you hide your face?

Sun, sun, don't you cry

The heavens are blue and so are you

Sun, sun, so close to the horizon

I'm sorry

For all you have seen

Rest now, sun

For tomorrow is another day.
