꒰ 命 𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 ꒱┊Kim Sunoo x fem!reader
꒰ 命 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐄 ꒱┊lots of cuteness, jealousy, schoolgirl au, friends in love, Sunoo really wants Y/n only for himself.

꒰ 命 𝐀/𝐍 ꒱┊I'm following the enha again, so I thought nothing better than doing a chapter about my bias :)
⊹₊˚ʚ❛masterlist❜ɞ
WHEN you ask anyone what food reminds them of their childhood, they will automatically remember something made by their grandparents or even their parents.
However, for Sunoo, when he talks about any food that reminds him of his childhood, he would instantly remember his best friend.
Y/n has always been an independent child, being that typical child who is praised for being so mature and has high expectations of being an incredible adult.
During elementary school, her parents worked full time and often weren't even able to take her to and from school. Thanks to this, she was kind of forced to mature prematurely, learning to take care of herself quickly.
So, from the age of eight, every single day she was responsible for making her own snack. Of course, for a child she had her limitations, so her mother made lunch.
All the elementary students were enchanted by their independence and had Y/n as the most mature figure in the school, earning daily praise from her classmates.
And this popularity quickly reached the ears of Sunoo, Y/n's childhood best friend. They had known each other since birth, complementing each other and never really being apart from each other for long. Their parents thought this was really cute, so they nurtured this friendship by allowing them to see each other even outside of school.
Sunoo was proud that his best friend was so popular and strong, saying with conviction wherever he went that she was the best friend of all and that he was very lucky to have her. As time went by, she decided to please Sunoo by making snacks for him too and he felt extremely special for being the only one who ate the snacks made by Y/n.
Time passed and Y/n continued to improve her culinary skills and when they were in high school, she knew how to make the most varied foods and was proud of it. One time she even had lunch at her house and invited Sunoo. He swore he had never smiled so much in one day.
Even though she is extremely talented in the kitchen, Sunoo's favorite dish is still the delicious and simple sandwiches she has made since she was little. He felt as if they had a special bond, as if that simple meal strengthened the bonds between Sunoo and Y/n.
And today was no different. Lunch time finally arrived and Sunoo eagerly left the classroom and practically ran down the hall after Y/n. Unfortunately they didn't have many classes together, but at least they had a whole break to talk about anything and everything.
He thoroughly searched the entire length of the school yard, a place where they usually met to eat together, but he couldn't find her anywhere. He inspected the place one last time and went to look in other areas of the school where she was usually located.
After a while, he noticed that the break was almost over. Sighing in disappointment, he walks to the cafeteria so he can at least eat something before the day ends.
❪ 🥪 ❫
The sun was almost setting when Y/n was anxiously waiting for Sunoo at the school gates. Looking at the students leaving, she finally spotted Sunoo and waved at him happily with both arms, being greeted by a warm smile coming from him.
─── Where have you been? I looked for you at lunch, but I couldn't find you anywhere.
Sunoo speaks in a fake disappointed tone, looking her up and down.
─── oh my God! I completely forgot to tell you, I'm sorry. Mrs. Choi assigned me to tutor a boy in my class, so we stayed late in the library. I ended up losing track of time and when I went to notice the break it was already over.
She explains herself as they walk to their homes side by side.
─── Ah, if that's the case... Then it's okay, I forgive you. But please don't ever do that to me again, if I have to eat cafeteria food one more time I swear I'll hunt for worms on the patio floor.
Y/n makes a disgusted face and lightly hits Sunoo on the shoulder.
─── ew! No need to exaggerate, right?
She laughs at Sunoo's exaggeration and he responds with his usual mocking eye roll.
─── Will you be at the library tomorrow too?
─── oh yes. Classes will only last for two more days.
❪ 🥪 ❫
Said and done, the next day, Sunoo wasted no time and ran to the library. The fact that he hadn't had lunch with her the day before left him frustrated, but at least now he could catch up on all the gossip he heard in the hallways and talk about events in his classroom.
He approaches the table where Y/n is happily sitting, but his smile gradually drops when he sees who is sitting next to her.
Lee Joonho.
Why just him?
Lee Joonho is another one of the classmates who grew up together with Sunoo and Y/n. The problem is that he had a crush on Y/n since elementary school. Sunoo still remembers the time Joonho called him to ask if he could give Y/n's number, as he was interested in her. He still remembers the desire to squeeze Joonho's neck.
As he denied Joonho's request, the two never really understood each other again, forming a feeling of mutual hatred. Just imagining what Joonho was thinking when he was alone with you inside the library made Sunoo's blood boil with anger. I mean, he's also a man, so he has an idea of what's going on in other people's heads.
Having no idea what's going on, Y/n smiles happily as she sees Sunoo approaching, but she barely notices the discomfort evident on his face.
─── I'm glad you're here, Sunoo! I think you probably already know Joonho, so I don't think it's necessary to introduce them, right?
Sunoo sits right in front of them, staring deadly at Joonho, who just returns the look.
─── Yes, I know.
With a sinister smile, Joonho feigns affinity by responding in a forced tone of sympathy.
─── I think it's cute that you're still friends after so long. I really thought you guys would stop talking to each other in high school.
He rests his hand on Y/n's shoulder, affectionately stroking the area, but she doesn't seem to feel discomfort or really understand the real intentions behind that touch.
Sunoo closes his fists, pressing the sides of the chair where he is sitting. He wanted to hide his anger just to not make Y/n uncomfortable, but it was really hard not to make it obvious.
Who does he think he is? And why is he so close? Did he come to study or take advantage of sweet and affectionate girls?
Despite the anger in his thoughts, he tries to appear as calm as possible.
─── I think we like each other too much to just stay away.
Sunoo responds sarcastically, almost happy to feel victorious when he sees the anger behind Joonho's eyes.
─── right, boys. What do you think we eat now? That's why you came here, isn't it, Sunoo?
Sunoo's gaze softens as it rests on Y/n's cheerful figure. He nods and adjusts his posture so he can eat properly.
Taking the sandwiches from inside her cooler bag, Y/n takes out the sandwiches and Sunoo couldn't help but notice that she didn't make one more for Joonho. He smiles victoriously, gratefully taking the sandwich Y/n handed him, delighting in the first bite he took.
Sunoo's breath hitches in his throat when he sees her breaking the sandwich and giving the other half to Joonho. He starts coughing, almost choking, and doesn't miss his opponent's discreet smile.
─── Oh my God! Sunnie, are you okay?
His stomach might actually turn in a good way when he hears the old, gentle nickname she affectionately calls him, but the surprise at seeing her share the sandwich with that little piece of shit overcame any and all feelings.
Y/n grabs her water bottle, sharing the contents with Sunoo, worried in case he seriously chokes. He drinks the water quickly, and he definitely doesn't know whether the shortness of breath he feels is because of his surprise or because he drank the water so quickly that he barely had time to breathe.
─── Do you feel better?
At this point in the championship, Y/n came around the table, gently patting Sunoo on the back in a somewhat futile attempt to help him. Sunoo just stares at her with wide surprised eyes, then he stands up and grabs her hand.
─── we need to talk. Now.
─── but-
With no room for further complaints, he pulls her outside the library, a little flustered, but maintaining his usual gentle touch.
─── Look, you- you can only…
He runs a hand through his hair completely nervously, standing in front of her with his head down. He can swear it must feel like a bit at this point, so he takes a deep breath to try and calm himself.
─── why did you do that?
─── hmm? Sunoo… I don't understand anything. Are you well?
Her face is clearly filled with confusion and only now does he realize that maybe, just maybe, he had exaggerated a little. He wanted to hit himself right now.
─── Look, I'm sorry, but... who does that little shit think he is? First, he clearly arranged to take these extra classes with you, since obviously the teacher would ask you to explain the material to him because, obviously, You are the smartest and sweetest girl this school has, as well as being very understanding.
Sunoo raises her voice a little, not really caring about it right now. In fact, he wasn't rational at all right now.
─── and now, I am simply forced to see you sharing the sandwich that we always eat together with him? I mean, I know this sounds stupid, but to me it's not. This is very special to me. You are special to me, and so much! So he has no right to steal this from me.
The fast pace of Sunoo's voice matches your heartbeat. His thoughts were racing and he made every effort to think straight about what he said. When he finished speaking, his breathing was completely unregulated.
Once again in that short period of time, Sunoo is caught off guard by his own actions and words, embarrassment taking him over.
─── Are you… are you done, Sunoo?
He doesn't respond, just looking away embarrassed. Gently, she holds Sunoo's hand with one hand and rests the other on his cheek. Leaning forward a little and placing herself on tiptoe, she places a tender kiss on his cheek.
─── you don't have to be like this just because I shared a sandwich with him. But, if it's any consolation, he would never be able to fill the important role you play in my life, Sunoo. You are the only one for me.
He looks at her in amazement, feeling the phantom touch of the kiss that was just left on his cheek.
───… friends shouldn't say things like that to each other, Y/n.
For a second, he could see a flash of disappointment in her eyes. But then he smiles his usual radiant and contagious smile, returning the affectionate touch on her cheek.
─── but particularly? I don't want us to be just friends. I want to be able to love you the right way, the way I always did.
He wraps his arms around her, where she comfortably rests her head on his chest.
─── so let's make it happen.

heeseung walked in late again. ever since he picked up a new position at his office, he’s been coming home late nonstop. you knew he’d be more busy, but coming home at midnight for weeks straight, you grew a little fed up. tonight, you couldn’t hold back your frustration.
“you’re late again..” you said, your arms crossed along your chest. “how many times is this going to keep happening?”
“i’m trying alright? it’s just really busy.” heeseung sighed, rubbing his temples gently.
“but i’m here waiting for you! every night. i stay up extra late to spend time with you, but i cant, because you’re tired and you want to sleep.” you shot back, your hands trembling.
“i didn’t mean for it to be like this..” heeseung said quietly, stepping closer to wrap his arms around you. “im sorry princess, ill try to come home early so we can be together.”
you look up at him, frustration and sadness still lingering. “i just need you to be here..”
“and i will be.. okay?” heeseung kisses your forehead, his arms never latched off you. ( 𝖱𝖤𝖠𝖣 𝖬𝖮𝖱𝖤 𝖴𝖭𝖣𝖤𝖱 𝖳𝖧𝖤 𝖢𝖴𝖳 )

you and jay were enjoying a quiet evening at home, you sat on his lap as the two of you got caught up in eachother’s affection. what originally was a night of laughter and affection quickly disappeared when jay would constantly check his phone.
“jay?” you asked politely, frustration lingering on your voice. “can you put your phone down for a second? we’re supposed to be spending time together.”
jay looks up at you, his brows furrowed. “im just checking something real quick. why are you making a big deal out of it?” his tone came out rather harsh than expected.
“im not making a big deal, i just want your attention for five minutes!” you snapped. “you’ve been looking at your phone from time to time all night.”
“im not ignoring you, honey.” jay watched as you got off his lap, sitting a little farther away now to collect yourself. “well it feels like it.” you muttered to yourself, unaware that jay heard.
jay pulls you back on his lap, holding your chin so your gaze is on him. “i didn’t know you were feeling that way. i’m sorry honey, i’ll put it down.”

jake had been playing video games all day with heeseung and jungwon. you didn’t mind, considering he worked hard all week and barely got some time for his favorite things. it was one thing for him to barely speak to you throughout the day, but it was another when you felt like he was ignoring your presence.
“jake..” you called out from the doorway, coming to sit on the shared bed. “can you stop playing for a five minutes and talk to me.”
jake glanced over, however his attention quickly went back to the screen. “just one more round okay mamas?”
“seriously?” you couldnt hide your emotions, especially your frustration. “you’ve been playing for hours, you act like i don’t exist.”
jake paused his game, his attention quickly went to you. “im sorry okay? i just wanted a few hours on the game. i didn’t mean to ignore your presence.”
jake got up from his gaming chair and climbed onto the bed. he pulled you close to him, snuggling you tightly. “im sorry mamas.. do you forgive me? if not, i’ll make it better.”

recently, you felt as if your relationship with sunghoon was failing. some nights, you barely slept in the same bed. other times, you’d only have one worded answers to each other’s questions. sometimes when this happens, it causes you to barely eat. sunghoon silently picked up on it, he started to see how this was affecting you.
“you’re barely eating..” sunghoon speaks softly, his eyes soft but serious.
you avoid his gaze, silently surpised he picked up on your behavior. “im fine.”
“no you’re not.” sunghoon looked closer at you, his voice laced with concern. “we haven’t been doing well recently and now you’re not even taking care of yourself.”
you sighed, frustrated. “i cant eat when i’m upset, you know that..” you held your head, rushes of emotions hitting you at once. sunghoon could tell you’ve officially reached your breaking point.
sunghoon moved closer to you, his tone gentle. “i hate seeing you like this. we’ll fix things, but first you need to eat. you need to take care of yourself, and i’ll be here to help you,” sunghoon wrapped his arms around you tightly, as if he was afraid to loose you again.

jungwon has been going through a lot lately. either something hapoened with some friends, or his family, you couldnt point your finger on it. all you knew was your relationship was slowly declining because of it. jungwon felt more closed off, he wasn’t talking to you like he normally would.
“why are you so closed off?” you asked, your voice shaking. “you used to talk to me about everything.”
jungwon sighed, looking at you. “it’s not that i don’t want to talk .. i just don’t want to drag you into my problems.”
“well i’m here for you!” you snapped, your frustration boiling over. “you can’t just shut me out when you’re going through something.
“i don’t wanna burden you.” jungwon ran a hand through his hair, trying to process his thoughts.
“you’re not burdening me, jungwon. i want to be there for you.” you quickly responded, pulling him into your arms as you saw tears falling from his glass eyes. “im sorry.. for pushing you away. i really need you.” you heard his sobs, you tried to comfort him by rubbing his back.

sunoo wasn’t one to cancel plans with you, infact he always looked forward to the days he’d be able to see you. ever since you and sunoo began getting more busy at work as the days went out, it became difficult to see each other. even on days you both were exhausted, you didn’t want to cancel.
“you’ve been cancelling plans alot recently..” you sighed with frustration. “i feel i’m the last thing on your mind these days.”
sunoo looks at you, guiltier than ever. “i didn’t mean to make you feel like that.. work has just been draining me.”
“that’s all you’ll ever say.” you replied, your voice tightening. “i get that, but it’s not an excuse as to how you’ve been treating me lately.”
he sighs. “you’re right.. i’ve been distracted and im sorry.” sunoo runs his hands through his hair in frustration, yet understanding where you’re coming from.
sunoo pulls you into his arms, his tight embrace made you feel better. “i promise to treat you better, even when exhaustion creeps up on me.” you pull him flush closer to you, feeling bad you let your emotions out on him.

you didn’t know riki would have his friends over at his house today. you sat closely to riki, but no matter how close you say, he continued to ignore you. riki was too caught up in playing games with his friends, he forgot his own girlfriend was right beside him. you felt ignored, and most importantly you felt forgotten about. his friends left, which left you with some alone time.
“why did you do that?” you asked, standing up as if you’re ready to leave. “ignore me when your friends are here?”
“what do you talking about?” riki asks, putting the extra controllers away in a drawer.
“when you’re with them, you pretend im invisible” your eyes grew teary, you tried to look away to fix yourself before he saw you like this.
“oh baby.. i never meant to make you feel like that.” riki pulled you into his arms, you tried to push away wanting some space to yourself.
however, riki wasn’t taking that for an answer. he didn’t like seeing you push away when you’re upset, especially at him. “no baby.. no pushing away. i’m sorry for tonight and i’ll make it up to you.” riki kisses your lips gently, his thumb soothed your cheek.

꩜ .ᐟ LITTLE THINGS 이희승
— ✮⋆˙ heeseung x reader ✮⋆˙ fluff, established relationship, non-idol au ✮⋆˙ 0.7k wc ✮⋆˙ grammar errors
WHEREIN heeseung finds himself falling more in love with you every time you do the smallest things.
every little thing you did made heeseung’s heart race in ways he never thought possible. he always told himself he wasn’t the type to get caught up in the small details—but then you came along
it was the way you’d smile at him, that quiet kind of smile, like you knew all his secrets and still loved him anyway. the way your eyes crinkled at the corners when you laughed, the way they softened when you looked at him.
heeseung could get lost in your eyes—he had, so many times.
heeseung was on his way home after you’d sent him out to buy a few things. as he walked past a small flower shop, the colorful display caught his eye. it instantly reminded him of you and the way you always lit up whenever you two visited one.
“did you know daisies symbolize purity and innocence?” you’d say, rambling random flower facts while pointing to your favorites.
he smiled to himself. it was one of the many reasons he fell for you—your curious mind and the way you turned even the simplest outings into something memorable.
on the bus ride home, he overheard a group of friends saying their goodbyes. it reminded him of how you always waved at your friends with the sweetest smile before rushing over to him.
heeseung couldn’t help but chuckle softly, looking down at his phone. your messages popped up on the screen.
lovelove ❤️
food’s almost cold!
stay safe, i love you!
oh yeah, i think i miss you already:(
he laughed at the cute sticker you’d sent along with it. snapping a quick picture of himself on the bus, he texted back:
my fav person ! 💞
on my way. don’t eat without me! :)
when heeseung finally arrived home, you greeted him at the door, practically throwing your arms around him. “woah, easy there,” he chuckled, wrapping an arm around your waist.
your face was glowing, your eyes sparkling with sincerity, warmth, and love—the kind of look that made him fall in love with you all over again.
“welcome home! oh, let me get these—thank you for buying them,” you said, pulling away to grab the bags from his hands. he watched you with a fond smile as you disappeared into the kitchen.
“oh, and dinner’s ready!” you called out. “i also bought your favorite drink yesterday.”
heeseung sat down at the dining table, resting his chin on his hand as he watched you move around the kitchen, chattering about your day. you pulled his drink from the fridge, placing it on the table with a proud smile.
“oh, and yeah—” you paused when you noticed his silence. “everything okay?”
heeseung blinked, his thoughts catching up. “yeah,” he said, smiling softly.
you squinted at him as you sat down across from him, serving portions of food onto both plates. “you’re giving me that look again, hee.”
“what look?”
“like you’re trying to manipulate me or something,” you joked, though your cheeks warmed under his gaze.
he laughed at your playful tone, leaning forward to brush a strand of hair away from your face. “you’re funny. but you know what? you do the same thing to me all the time. your eyes, your smile… even the little things about you make me forget everything else.”
your heart raced at his words, your cheeks now burning. “you’re being so dramatic,” you mumbled, suddenly shy.
“i’m not,” he said, his voice soft but firm. “everything i said is true.”
heeseung picked up his chopsticks and started eating like he hadn’t just turned your heart racing so fast it felt like it might burst.
as the night deepened, the two of you stayed like that—sharing food, laughter, and quiet moments where words weren’t necessary.
later, you both found yourselves curled up on the couch, a soft blanket draped over you as you rested your head on his chest. the sound of his heartbeat matched the rhythm of your own, steady and comforting.
later, as you lay curled up on the couch together, heeseung rested his chin on top of your head. “you know,” he murmured, “you’re everything i never knew i needed.”
you tilted your head to meet his gaze, his eyes full of love that left you breathless. “and you,” you whispered back, “are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
heeseung smiled, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
and as you closed your eyes, you thought of the way he looked at you—like you were the only person in the world.

picture perfect - lhs
pairing: ex!heeseung x midnight rain!reader genre: angst, exes meeting again in a different circumstance, heeseung is getting married, the one that got away word count: 2.5k summary: what's worse than interviewing your ex-fiancé for his wedding while tormented by the life you could have had? especially when you couldn't stop glancing on the ring on his finger.
My boy was a montage A slow-motion, love potion Jumping off things in the ocean I broke his heart 'cause he was nice
“When did you realize that she was the one? That it was love?”
The room was colder than you expected, or maybe it was the weight of the moment that made you shiver. Five years had passed since you left Heeseung behind, but here you were, standing across from him again. He stood in a pristine tuxedo, tailored to perfection, like the life he now led—polished, flawless, but distant. Heeseung, heir to a powerful conglomerate, and you, the broadcast journalist in a media uniform tasked with interviewing him for what was being called the "wedding of the century."
It had been an impossible love, one you knew couldn’t last. But that didn’t stop you from falling hard for him.
Back in college, it felt like the stars had aligned just for you two. You met by chance in a quiet library, studying late at night. You were flipping through notes, while he sat across from you, struggling to stay awake after hours of classes and business meetings for his family’s company. He caught your eye when he nearly fell asleep, knocking a stack of books to the floor.
“You alright there?” you had teased, a soft smile playing on your lips.
Heeseung rubbed his eyes and chuckled. “Yeah, just tired. Guess business majors don’t get to sleep, huh?”
That small interaction turned into late-night study sessions and shared meals at the local café, hiding from the world that seemed to have already decided your places. The more you learned about him, the more the quiet, gentle side of him drew you in—the side that wasn’t always front and center in the media’s image of him.
“Let’s keep this just between us,” Heeseung had said once, eyes soft as the two of you sat together in a dimly lit restaurant far off campus, tucked into a corner where no one would recognize him. “The world outside… it’s too complicated.”
You agreed, understanding the stakes. His family had expectations, and you were just an ordinary student. Yet, it didn’t stop the stolen glances in class or the secret hand-holding when no one was watching.
Those were some of the happiest moments of your life. No matter how fleeting, they felt like something real, something lasting.
And then there was that night—your last trip together before everything changed. The two of you had gone to a secluded beach, the sound of waves crashing against the shore the only witness to your love. Underneath a sky full of stars, Heeseung pulled out a ring, his hands trembling slightly as he looked at you, eyes wide with hope.
“I know it’s crazy… but marry me,” he whispered, his voice full of emotion. “I want you to be the person I come home to. The one who knows me when the rest of the world only sees… him.”
You had said yes without hesitation. How could you not? In that moment, it felt like everything was falling into place. You had both once pictured yourselves at opposite ends of the aisle—him in a crisp, white tuxedo, and you in the wedding dress of your dreams. It was this memory of him that still kept you awake at night.
But reality didn’t wait long to rear its ugly head. Graduation came, and with it, responsibilities neither of you could ignore. You got your dream job as a news presenter, but it meant constant travel. Heeseung, meanwhile, was tied to his family’s legacy, the weight of it pressing down on him, anchoring him to a life you couldn’t share.
"I can’t leave everything behind," he had told you one night, frustration evident in his voice. "This is who I am."
"I know," you replied quietly, staring down at the engagement ring on your finger, feeling its weight more than ever. "And I’m not asking you to. But I… I need to be someone too. I can’t just be… your shadow."
Heeseung had pleaded with you to stay, to make it work somehow, but deep down, you both knew it wasn’t possible. The worlds you came from were too far apart, the demands on you both too great.
When you took off the ring that night in his car, your hands trembling, the look in his eyes broke you. Heeseung had always been composed, even under pressure, but that night, he cried. You watched as his tears fell, and the ache in your chest felt unbearable.
"I’m sorry," you whispered, voice barely holding steady as you placed the ring in his palm. "I love you, but I can’t… I can’t do this."
Heeseung had tried to speak, but the words caught in his throat. All he could do was watch as you opened the car door and walked away.
Now, five years later, that past stood between you like an invisible wall.
The soft murmur of crew members adjusting lights and setting up cameras filled the studio, but all you could hear was the steady, rhythmic pounding of your heart. Heeseung sat in front of you, the gleam of his dark wedding tuxedo catching the artificial light. His hand rested on his knee, the gold band on his ring finger gleaming—a silent reminder of everything that had changed.
You cleared your throat, shuffling your notes, attempting to shake off the unease settling over you. This was supposed to be just another interview—routine, professional. But the tension in the air was palpable, an invisible thread tugging at memories you thought you’d buried.
"Mr. Lee?," you asked again, your voice steady, eyes fixed on the paper in front of you to avoid the intensity of his gaze. "A lot of people are curious about your relationship with Ms. Choi. When did you realize that she was the one? That it was love?"
Heeseung shifted slightly in his seat, his eyes flickering to yours before looking down at his hands. For a moment, he hesitated, and you found yourself unconsciously glancing at his left hand again—the wedding band glinting under the lights. The sight of it made your stomach twist.
"When did I know…" Heeseung trailed off, his voice quiet, reflective. He took a deep breath before answering, his eyes still focused on his hand. "I think love can be complicated. Sometimes, it’s not about a single moment, but a series of small ones. You come to realize what's expected of you, and you grow into it, bit by bit."
It was a carefully worded response—safe, diplomatic. He wasn’t answering the question. Not really. And that tugged at something deep inside you, pulling at threads you didn’t want to unravel.
You nodded, trying to move forward, but your thoughts were slipping. "But… when did it feel like more than just expectation? When did it feel like love?"
The words fell from your lips before you could stop them. Too personal. Too revealing. Heeseung’s eyes snapped to yours, surprised at the sudden shift, the edge in your voice. For a second, the air between you thickened, the unspoken past rising to the surface.
"When did it feel like love?" Heeseung repeated slowly, his eyes lingering on your face, as if searching for something. His voice softened. "There was a time I thought I knew… what love felt like."
You blinked, the space between his words loaded with meaning. There was an implicit sadness in the way he spoke, a crack in the façade he’d been holding up for so long.
You felt yourself sinking deeper into the moment, losing grip on the professional veneer you had worked so hard to maintain. Your gaze dropped to his left hand again, to the gold ring encircling his finger. It felt suffocating, knowing it symbolized a future you once imagined would be yours.
Your own fingers absentmindedly brushed against your ring finger, where once a promise had been worn but was now bare. Heeseung’s eyes followed the movement, his gaze lingering there for a moment longer than necessary. His lips parted, as if he wanted to say something, but he closed them again.
The camera’s blinking red light reminded you where you were. You cleared your throat, refocusing on the script, but your mind was still spiraling.
You hesitated before asking the next question, feeling the weight of it before the words even left your mouth. It wasn’t on the script—it wasn’t the kind of thing you were supposed to ask in an interview like this. But it was the question you had to ask, the one lingering at the back of your mind since you stepped into the room.
You swallowed, feeling your pulse in your throat. "Are you happy?"
The silence that followed was suffocating. Heeseung’s gaze lingered on you, and for the briefest moment, his polished composure cracked. His eyes softened, as if searching for something in yours.
He hesitated, his gaze dropping briefly to the ring on his finger again—gleaming and perfect, a stark contrast to your own bare hand. The ring you had taken off five years ago.
"I... I have everything I’m supposed to want," he began, voice quiet, almost too quiet for the room. His answer was measured, careful, like he was trying to convince himself as much as he was you. "I’ve built a life, a career... I’m where I’m supposed to be."
But then his eyes met yours again, and for a heartbeat, something vulnerable passed between you. "But happiness?" He let the question hang in the air, not answering it fully, but leaving the meaning clear. His gaze lingered a second longer, unspoken words filling the silence.
You bit your lip, trying to keep your emotions in check as the weight of what wasn’t said between you pressed down. His answer, or lack of one, told you everything.
You glanced down at your next question, but your voice betrayed you, trailing off as you asked, "Do you… ever think about the life you could have had? If things had been different?"
Heeseung’s gaze locked onto yours, his expression unreadable. The question hadn’t been on the script. You hadn’t even realized you’d said it until it was too late. A deafening silence filled the room, every crew member, every camera operator feeling the tension brewing between you both.
His jaw clenched slightly, and for a moment, it looked like he wasn’t going to answer. But then, his voice came, soft, barely above a whisper, yet laced with emotion. "Sometimes… I think about the life I could have had. The life I almost had."
The way he said it made your breath hitch. You weren’t sure if anyone else in the room could hear it, but to you, it felt like the only thing that mattered. His words hung in the air, filling the space between you with a weight too heavy to ignore.
You tried to regain control, but you were slipping further, your thoughts clouded by the memories you had worked so hard to forget. "Do you have any regrets about the past?” you asked, the question intended more for your own sake than for the magazine.
Heeseung's expression softened, and for the first time throughout the interview, his voice wavered. ‘Regret... it's complicated. There are times when you make choices because you believe they’re what’s best for everyone. Yet there are nights when you can’t help but think… what if?’"
His words hit you like a wave, washing over you with the force of all the unspoken feelings between you. What if. Two simple words, yet they carried the weight of everything you had left behind.
Your breath hitched, and you glanced down at your notes, trying to steer the interview back to safer ground. But the damage was done. You couldn’t hide from the truth anymore.
You felt your eyes well up, memories flooding back of the days when Heeseung had been your world. The secret rendezvous, the promises whispered under moonlit skies, the proposal on the beach—the life you almost had. You swallowed hard, pushing the memories down.
"Two weeks until the wedding," you said, your voice hollow, desperate to pull the conversation back to the present. "Are you… ready?"
Heeseung didn’t answer right away. Instead, he looked at you, really looked at you, as if seeing past the years, past the distance, and straight into the heart of the girl he had once loved. His lips parted, but the answer you expected didn’t come.
"Are you?" he asked quietly, the question hanging in the air like a lifeline.
Your breath caught in your throat. The room felt too small, the walls too close. You blinked, shaking your head slightly as if that could shake off the weight of the moment.
The tension between you was unbearable now. You could feel every unsaid word, every lingering regret, every what-if stretching between you, filling the space with a heaviness you could no longer ignore.
"Thank you for your time, Mr. Lee," you said, your voice tight, trying to wrap up the interview before you completely unraveled.
But as you stood to leave, Heeseung’s voice stopped you.
"Y/N…"
He adjusted his cufflinks, and the air between you grew heavier. Finally, he spoke, his voice low. “Do you ever think about… that time?”
You looked at him, surprised he had asked. The cameras aren’t rolling anymore. “All the time,” you admitted, the truth slipping out before you could stop it.
Heeseung nodded, his gaze dropping to the floor. “Yeah… me too.”
You paused, not daring to turn around, your heart in your throat.
"If I had another chance…" His voice was barely a whisper now, but it sliced through the room like a knife. "I would risk everything."
Your hand hovered on the door handle, but you couldn’t move. His words clung to you, wrapping themselves around your heart like a vice. You swallowed hard, blinking back the tears that threatened to fall.
But you didn’t turn back. You couldn’t.
Instead, you stepped out of the studio, the weight of everything unsaid pressing down on you, knowing that you’d leave this room just as you had left him five years ago—heartbroken and haunted by what could have been.
About an hour after the interview, you found yourself standing at the back of the studio, watching as Heeseung and his fiancée posed for their couple shots. He looked effortlessly handsome in his pristine black tuxedo, while she glimmered in a flowing gown, radiant and picture-perfect.
“Smile a little wider, Heeseung!” the photographer urged, and your heart ached as you watched him comply, his smile lighting up the scene in a way that had once been reserved for you.
You swallowed hard, the memories flooding back—late-night laughter, whispered secrets, and the way he’d promised you the world. A crew member nudged you, breaking your reverie. “They really are the perfect couple,” he said.
“Yeah,” you replied, your voice thick with unshed tears.
As you turned away, the sight of them—the life you had once envisioned—felt like a dagger to your heart. It was time to leave, to step back into your own reality, but a lingering question haunted you: What if things had been different?

YOU FOUND YOURSELF IN AN ARGUEMENT WITH HEESEUNG— strong statement right? it all began when your best friend spotted him with his ex-girlfriend at a cafe, triggering an explosion of emotions without any prior explanation. everything that was piling on you just spilled right when he came back.
“just fucking leave me alone, heeseung.” you spat, your words laced with anger as you stormed out, leaving him speechless in the room. the reality was, he just went to go reject his ex's offer of getting back together, which you never let him explain. tears had welled up in your eyes, your knees trembling, your hair disheveled from the mental breakdown.
you walked aimlessly, trying to catch your breath, looking like a stupid idiot you were. thankfully, the darkness of the night provided no vision of how terrible you looked. despite your desire to turn back and apologize to heeseung, embarrassment held you back. then, true to your expectations, raindrops began to fall, adding to the complexity of the situation. standing in the rain, you sobbed silently, letting the regrets and pain wash away.
“YN?” a voice that ever yearned for. you turned around to find Heeseung, no umbrella, his hair completely soaked like yours. you immediately stood up, running into his arms. he embraced you tightly, your tears running down like streams of rivers.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I was just so foolish and stupid. I'm sorry..” your words barely audible amidst the downpour, clinging to him desperately. heeseung's gentle reassurance washed over you, his touch soothing you.
“It’s fine, I knew you were stressed and everything. I understand everything,” heeseung reassured, caressing your cheeks while admiring your beauty in the rain.
“are you sure, it’s fine?” you asked, a bit worried that you had hurt Heeseung.
“It’s fine, my princess.”he replied, a soft smile playing on his lips, then leaned in for a kiss. the kiss was everything you could ever ask for, passionate and sweet. the way his lips were so perfect against yours, the taste of the coffee he drank earlier flooded your tastebuds. his fingers found your waist, pulling you closer, while your hand threaded through his wet hair. still standing in the rain, the two of you pulled away and pressed your forehead together.
“I love you so much.” you whispered, with a grin.
“I love you so much too.” he smiled back, his words echoing in the quiet intimacy of the night.

my pretty princess ⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡
to sunoo, you’re more than a person—you’re his perfect doll, delicate and untouchable. his love is as beautiful as it is suffocating, wrapping around you like silk ribbons, tight and unyielding. in his carefully crafted world, you’re his princess, too precious for the outside, too fragile for anyone but him. and he’ll do anything to keep you safe in his arms—even if it means keeping you locked away forever.
pairing: kim sunoo x female reader
warnings: obsessive behavior, possessiveness, themes of isolation, implied confinement, unhealthy relationships, emotional manipulation, yandere themes. nothing explicit, but please read with caution!
wk: 1,5k ❔
the silk bow felt tighter now, digging into your waist as you shifted slightly in the chair. sunoo knelt before you, his hands trailing over the folds of the pink dress he’d dressed you in that morning. the soft fabric shimmered in the dim light of the room, casting a faint glow over his sharp features. he looked up at you, his dark eyes wide and shining, like he was looking at something sacred.
“you’re so beautiful,” he whispered, almost breathless. “like a dream. my perfect princess.”
his fingers brushed against your wrist, cool and gentle, as if he were afraid you might break under his touch. you didn’t flinch. you never flinched. not when he kissed your hand, not when he pressed his forehead to your shoulder and murmured things you didn’t fully understand. it was easier that way—staying still, staying quiet. the stillness made him happy.
“do you know how much i love you?” he asked, his voice trembling with emotion. he stood slowly, his hands sliding up to rest on your shoulders. “do you feel it? how much i need you?”
you nodded, the motion small and automatic. his grip tightened, not painfully, but enough to remind you of how much larger he was, how easily he could hold you in place if he wanted to. not that he ever had to. you never tried to leave.
the room around you was soft and warm, filled with things he’d chosen for you—lace curtains, pastel furniture, a vanity covered in delicate bottles of perfume you never touched. the only window was covered, its heavy drapes drawn tightly shut. you didn’t know what was outside, and you weren’t sure if you wanted to.
“you’re so quiet,” sunoo said, tilting his head as he studied your face. his fingers brushed your cheek, and you felt the cool metal of the rings he always wore. “sometimes i wonder if you’re happy. are you happy, princess?”
his question hung in the air, heavy and expectant. you hesitated, the faintest flicker of something—doubt, maybe—crossing your mind. but then you saw the way he was looking at you, his eyes filled with something so desperate it almost hurt to meet his gaze.
“yes,” you said softly. “i’m happy.”
his face lit up instantly, his smile boyish and bright, as if you’d given him the greatest gift in the world. “i knew it,” he said, his voice trembling with relief. “i knew you loved being here with me.”
he pulled you to your feet, his hands never leaving your shoulders. his touch was firm but careful, like he was guiding a doll to stand. “you’re perfect,” he said again, almost to himself. “my perfect princess. no one else could ever be like you.”
you glanced toward the door—painted white, always locked. it wasn’t that you wanted to leave. you just… wondered. what was beyond it? the thought flickered briefly in your mind before fading as sunoo cupped your face in his hands, forcing your attention back to him.
“stay with me forever,” he said, his voice low and pleading. “promise me, princess. promise me you’ll never leave.”
“i promise,” you whispered, because you knew it was what he wanted to hear.
he smiled again, his thumb brushing over your cheekbone. “good girl,” he murmured. “you’re all i need. just you and me. nothing else matters.”
and as he leaned in to press a soft kiss to your forehead, you wondered if he was right. maybe nothing else did matter. maybe this was all there ever was.

ꕥ rest; — enhypen one shot, wc: 2.2k, genre: angst, fluff, warning: hybe-neglect
the stage lights blazed down on you, casting everything in a bright, almost surreal glow. you’d been running on adrenaline for weeks now, barely staying in korea for more than a day or two at a time, constantly flying between countries, attending meetings, filming, rehearsing, and performing. it had been two months since you’d last had a proper rest, but you were determined to power through, just like your group members.
tonight was your final tour stop, fresh off a plane from japan. the crowd was electric, their cheers fueling you as you pushed through the exhaustion gnawing at your bones. the boys had noticed, of course—they weren’t blind to the fatigue etched into your features or the way your movements had slowed. they did everything they could to help, from jay’s quick massages to jake slipping you energy drinks between rehearsals. even with their support, you couldn’t shake the weariness that weighed you down.
you told yourself you could make it, just one more concert. you owed it to the fans, to the members, to yourself. but halfway through the show, during the performance of “fatal trouble,” the cracks started to show. the choreography was demanding, every move requiring precision and energy that you were quickly running out of. still, you pushed through, reaching deep to give the crowd everything you had left.
then, it happened.
during your killing part, everything around you began to spin. the stage beneath your feet felt unstable, the lights too bright, the noise too loud. you barely registered the shift before everything went black, and the world fell away.
gasps echoed through the arena as you collapsed. for a moment, time seemed to stop. then, all at once, chaos erupted. the fans screamed, the boys froze, but jungwon was the first to snap into action. he sprinted off stage, desperate to find medical attention. heeseung dropped to his knees beside you, panic gripping him as he checked to see if you were breathing. the other members hovered nearby, their eyes wide with fear, but they held back, trusting heeseung to take control of the situation.
“clear the area!” heeseung barked, his voice sharp and commanding, cutting through the noise. his hands trembled slightly as he fanned you, his heart pounding in his chest. this wasn’t supposed to happen. you were supposed to be fine.
your eyelids fluttered, and you slowly regained consciousness, the world coming back into focus. the first thing you saw was heeseung’s face, pale and drawn with worry. “i’m sorry,” you mumbled, trying to sit up, but your body felt like it was made of lead.
“don’t apologize,” heeseung interrupted, his tone more forceful than you’d ever heard it. “the concert doesn’t matter right now. what were they thinking, pushing you this hard?”
his frustration was palpable, anger simmering just beneath the surface, not at you, but at befor allowing things to reach this point. sunghoon rushed over, handing heeseung a water bottle, which he pressed to your lips, urging you to drink. you managed a few sips before trying to stand, but the moment you moved, the boys were on you, gently but firmly pushing you back down.
“don’t move,” jay said softly, his hands steadying your shoulders. “you need to rest.”
sunoo’s voice echoed over the speakers, his tone calm but strained. “we’ll be back after a short intermission. please stay with us.”
jungwon returned with the medical staff in tow. they worked quickly, securing you on a stretcher as the boys followed closely behind, their expressions a mix of worry and anger. as you were carried offstage, you could feel the weight of their concern pressing down on you, heavier than any exhaustion you’d felt before.
outside the medical room, the air was thick with tension. sunoo stood off to the side, tears gathering in his eyes as he blamed himself for not taking better care of you. jake paced back and forth, his hands clenched into fists, while ni-ki and jay leaned against the wall, their heads bowed in silent frustration. heeseung and jungwon were locked in a heated discussion with the concert staff, their voices low but fierce.
“we’re not continuing without her,” jungwon snapped, his usually calm demeanor cracking under the pressure. "how can you even think about the concert when she just collapsed?"
the staff hesitated, unsure how to proceed, but before they could argue, you emerged from the medical room, a weak but determined smile on your face. “i’m fine,” you insisted, though your voice was barely above a whisper. “let’s finish the concert.”
they turned to you, their eyes filled with a mix of relief and worry. “you shouldn’t push yourself,” jungwon said, his tone softening as he met your gaze.
“i’m sorry,” you murmured, bowing your head in shame. “i should have taken better care of myself.”
sunoo was the first to reach you, his arms wrapping around you in a careful, comforting embrace. “you have nothing to apologize for,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
tears welled up in your eyes, blurring your vision as guilt and exhaustion overwhelmed you. your manager, sympathetic to your situation, stepped forward with a suggestion. “if the concert must continue, you can sit on stage and sing. no dancing.”
you opened your mouth to protest, but the boys quickly shut it down. “that's the best option we're gonna get," jay said firmly, his expression brooking no argument.
with a resigned nod, you allowed them to guide you back to the stage. the staff had set up a stool just off to the side, and as you sat down, the concerned murmurs of the fans filled the arena. you took a deep breath, bringing the mic to your lips. “i’m really sorry for the disruption, everyone. but let’s continue the show. i’ll be sitting here. i hope you understand.”
the fans responded with cheers and reassurances, their love and support washing over you like a warm wave. your group members, still visibly worried, gave you reassuring smiles, each of them brushing a kiss to the top of your head before returning to the center stage.
the concert resumed, and though you were seated, the boys made sure you felt included. they took turns coming over to interact with you, sharing smiles with the fans. during the ments, one of them would help you to the center stage so you could speak to the fans directly, their hands steadying you with every step.
as the final song approached, you stood, feeling a renewed sense of energy from the fans’ support. “karma” was upbeat and lively, and though you couldn’t dance, you walked around the stage, engaging with the fans as best as you could. their smiles, their concern, all of it fueled you, giving you the strength to push through.
when it was time to leave the stage, sunghoon crouched down in front of you, offering a piggyback ride. you couldn’t help but laugh as you climbed onto his back, the other members waving goodbye to the fans as the led screen closed in front of you.
as soon as you were backstage, you hurried to thank the staff for their hard work, the boys closely following behind to make sure you didn’t collapse again. in the waiting room, as everyone began to unwind, jungwon sat down next to you, his eyes red-rimmed with tears he’d been holding back.
“please, take a rest,” he begged, his voice breaking. “go on hiatus if you need to. we can’t bear to see you like this.”
you shook your head, tears spilling over as you cried, “i don’t want to stop performing. i love being on stage with you all. i promise i’ll take better care of myself. please don’t make me go on hiatus.”
they enveloped you in a group hug, their arms holding you close as they silently vowed to take better care of you. after a long moment, they relented, agreeing to let you stay on as long as you promised to listen to your body’s needs.
as you sat in the waiting room, your phone began to buzz incessantly. at first, you ignored it, too drained to care about notifications. but when the buzzing didn’t stop, jake picked up your phone, his brows furrowing as he glanced at the screen.
“you should see this,” he said, his voice laced with concern.
reluctantly, you took the phone from him, your eyes widening as you saw what had caused the commotion. social media was ablaze with clips of your collapse on stage, the videos rapidly gaining traction across platforms. hashtags like #protectY/N, #hybegiveenhypenabreak, and #y/nisourangel were trending worldwide.
one video, in particular, had gone viral—footage of the exact moment you fell, followed by the boys’ reactions. jungwon’s desperate sprint offstage, heeseung’s frantic attempts to revive you, the other members’ shock and fear—all of it was captured in heartbreaking detail. the comments were filled with anger and worry.
“how could they let her get to this point?”
“hybe, do better. enhypen deserves a break!”
“i can’t believe she kept going even after that… she’s so strong.”
“this is why y/n is our angel. always pushing herself for us.”
as you scrolled through the comments, your heart swelled with a mix of emotions—gratitude for the fans’ support, guilt for worrying them, and a deep sense of love for the people who were standing by you.
“look at this one,” sunoo said, leaning over your shoulder to point at another video. it showed you smiling at the fans after you’d returned to the stage, despite the clear exhaustion in your eyes. the caption read: “she’s literally smiling through the pain… how can anyone not love her?”
tears welled up in your eyes again, and jake was quick to pull you into a hug. “hey, don’t cry. they’re just showing how much they care about you.”
“they’re right, you know,” jay added, his voice gentle. “you really are our angel.”
the members gathered around you, offering words of comfort as the reality of the situation sank in. they’d all seen the online uproar, the fans’ anger and concern echoing their own frustrations. jake handed you his phone, showing you a tweet that had garnered thousands of likes and retweets: “y/n collapsed on stage and still came back to finish the concert. she’s stronger than all of us combined. hybe, you better give enhypen the rest they deserve.”
“they’re fighting for you, just like we are,” ni-ki said, his voice filled with admiration. “you’ve got so many people who care about you.”
as the night went on, the videos and comments continued to flood in. fans posted messages of support, tagging hybe and demanding that the company take better care of you and the rest of enhypen. they shared stories of how your dedication and kindness had inspired them, how seeing you push through had given them strength in their own lives.
one particular fan cam, recorded by someone in the front row, showed you sitting on the stool during the concert, interacting with the members as they came over to check on you. the caption read: “watching her try so hard not to let us down… she’s too pure for this world.”
you couldn’t help but smile through your tears as you saw the overwhelming outpouring of love and support. your fans—engene—were a force to be reckoned with, and their fierce loyalty brought a sense of comfort that you hadn’t realized you needed.
as the boys continued to comfort you, they also began to lighten the mood, knowing that you needed a distraction from the overwhelming emotions. “you know,” heeseung said with a teasing grin, “if you keep working this hard, we’re going to have to start a petition ourselves to keep you from overdoing it.”
sunghoon chimed in, “and we know the fans would back us up. look at them—they’re ready to storm hybe’s headquarters.”
you chuckled softly, the tension in your chest easing as they continued to joke. “i guess i’m really lucky, huh? to have all of you, and the fans too.”
jungwon, still sitting beside you, squeezed your hand. “we’re the lucky ones. we just want you to be okay.”
the boys all nodded in agreement, their eyes filled with sincerity. the online backlash continued to grow, but amidst the anger, there was also an overwhelming sense of love—love for you, love for the group, and a shared determination to see you all treated with the care and respect you deserved.
as the night wound down, and the boys prepared to leave, you couldn’t shake the feeling of warmth that had settled in your heart. you knew things would be difficult in the days ahead—there would be meetings, discussions, and likely changes to your schedule—but for now, you allowed yourself to be comforted by the knowledge that you weren’t alone. your fans, your members, and even the staff all had your back.
before you left the venue, you took one last look at the messages pouring in online. your heart ached with gratitude as you whispered, “thank you,” to the fans who had always supported you, even when you were at your lowest.
as you walked out with the boys, their arms slung around your shoulders, you knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, you would face them together. and with that, you felt a renewed sense of strength, ready to take on whatever came next—with a little more care for yourself this time.
disclaimer: this, in no way, reflects the idol. this is purely fiction. a/n: on the real, as much as i love when enhypen is active, i'm going to need them to disappear for months. they haven't rested at all and i'm scared it's really going to take a toll on their mental and physical health. i love that they always want to cater to the fans, but there's no fans without enhypen. i want them to take care of themselves first. i freaking hate hybe. i didn't even mean for this to be this long. i just got so heated at the thought of their endless schedules. ✧ comments are appreciated! ✧ !nanamlist

or ── Your solo trip to Barcelona was may more than what you expected after meeting a kind stranger on the plane and spending the whole duration of your tour with him.

genres/tropes/disclaimers ⟢ fluff, one shot, angst(?), strangers to lovers, meet cute, mentions of Sunghoon, Karina (aespa), and Wonyoung (IVE), very slight jangkku but nothing major
{let me know if I've missed anything}
authors note ⟢ I am not from Barcelona, nor Madrid so if I get anything wrong please let me know. Also I hope my memory and research serves me right about the history parts included in all of these. + this is a veeery old story I had and just rewrote it but i hope you enjoy!
You have never really imagined yourself leaving your house with a carrier in your hand and your mom's shower of kisses, going to the airport, ready to board a plane headed straight for Barcelona, all on your own for a good 3 days of your summer vacation. A solo trip has been on your list of things to do before you turn 30 ever since you were in high school. Growing up, you've always dreamt of going to another country without your parents dragging you to gift shops after gift shops while all you just wanted to do was to go to the beach or to see their local museum.
And now, all of those long-awaited dreams are finally coming true. It took a while to convince your mom to let you travel alone since she's always been so strict. She kept on asking why would you insist on doing that and why don't you want to take the family with you. But after begging her to let you do it on your own because you want to use this opportunity so you can enjoy some alone time and independence, she finally gave you her permission, but only for 3 days, and with your own money —a deal that was more than enough for you. At surface level it may sound a bit suffocating having your parents know every plan you wish to do, but you know that she means well. Your mom has always restricted you on a lot of things, but if she sees that it makes her children happy then she does her best to keep her worries aside and just let them do the things that they want (with the exception of anything illegal that it; she wouldn't let you see the next day).
I took you more than two whole semesters of working part time at the local bakery and fighting the urge to buy every cute new shirt on display in order to earn enough from your paycheck to buy a plane ticket and save up enough pocket money before you can finally get to your dream vacation.
Everything was going well, there was no traffic on the way to the airport, the flight didn't get delayed, you were now on your second plane after the layover, the sky was clear, you got a window seat, and you had enough leg room. The only thing that bothered you was the fact that the man sitting next to you doesn't seem to value your personal space.
It's been the 5th time since departure that he kept on placing his head on your shoulder every time he decides to take a nap. All efforts of freeing your shoulder of this unknown man were put to waste whenever he keeps putting them back. You're a person that usually understands these kinds of situations, but god it was getting annoying. A man, seated in an aisle away from yours, seemed to notice your struggle. He was quiet but he kept side glancing at what was happening.
Park Jongseong (or as his close friends like to call him as Jay) heard the person seated across him let out a sigh every time the old geezer unknowingly placed his head on her shoulder. He saw the discomfort on your face and all your efforts to get him off of you.
It was honestly painful to watch.
He keeps seeing this young girl push the head of the stranger but then it keeps happening again and again.
And now, for the sixth time that it happened, you just decided to politely tell the man that you were getting uncomfortable, when he woke up he apologized and tried to fight off his drowsiness.
Guilt suddenly crept up your nerves thinking that this middle aged man couldn't even get some rest because you felt uneasy. Staring out of the window to avoid any more awkward encounters, when suddenly Jay broke the quiet air. "Excuse me sir, could we perhaps switch seats? I need to ask my friend about something and I wouldn't want to be rude by talking to her while you're in the middle."
You averted your gaze from the window to the guy who was now standing up to gather his things. (Much to your surprise that is. Was he that tired to just let a random dude give him orders to switch places?)
A young man (who, based on his looks, was the same age as you) took the old man’s place; who now was resting quietly in his new seat.
You looked at the new stranger seated beside you and quietly observed his features. He had a high bridge nose, his lips were full and plump, his eyebrows were dark and he had a striking jawline to compliment them. His jet black hair seemed to match his tanned skin.
He looked at you and gave you a small smile.
Should I say thank you? You thought to yourself
You kept looking at him, with no expression on your face. Jongseong’s smile started to change into an awkward one, not really knowing what to do at this point. To him, he just wanted to do something nice for the girl who looked like was about to burst out at any given moment. But now, you're giving him a blank look and a quiet atmosphere that made him feel like he did something that bothered you even more.
"Uhm...thank you" You whispered.
With those words, his smile returned to his face. "No problem, I saw you struggle there for a bit. It'd be really tiring if you had to do that for the whole flight" He said to you in a hushed voice, being careful not to be heard.
“Well thankfully I wouldn’t have to experience that. It’s nice of you” You hushed back, removing your gaze off of him and back to the window of clouds and blue skies.
___
More than 5 hours had passed and the plane was still in the air.
After getting some shut eye, you're starting to feel numbness as you sit through the whole flight dozing off or watching a series. You and the stranger seated next to you haven't had a conversation since he switched seats with the other man. The only exchange you had after that was when you had to excuse yourself to go to the bathroom.
You weren't really one for conversation. You've always had trouble starting conversations with people, and you struggled to keep them going. And seeing that you were either too busy sleeping or crying over another episode of the drama that you were watching, the handsome boy didn't seem to bother to talk to you either.
You were onto the last few episodes and things were starting to get very emotional and being the type of person that gets their emotions attached to these kinds of dramas, you unfortunately couldn't control the tears that escaped from your eyes; in a place like this, besides a cute guy who was probably judging you right now.
Jay thought it was cute though; How this girl beside him reacted to every scene that she was watching. He doesn't even know if she was aware that he heard her gasp when one of the main character's secrets were revealed, or how she started smiling when the leads kissed. Now, she's been shedding tears and she was desperately trying to hide it.
While trying to cover your face with your hands by wiping the tears that fell on your cheek, you suddenly felt a tap on your shoulder, only to be met with a pack of tissues. You looked at the stranger (whose name you still don't know), and the tissues he was holding out.
"These might help" He smiled at you once again and you couldn't help but feel embarrassed. You hesitated to grab them. His hand was still reaching out and he continued by saying "Take one, I completely understand. Episode 16 was the worst"
With the small piece of dignity you had left, you took a piece, quickly thanked him, and returned to your screen. You can see from the corner of your eye that he let out a small laugh.
Great. He must think I'm a total weirdo.
After finishing the last episode, and milking your eyes out, You have finally decided to take a rest from watching. Jay looked at you and gave you a thumbs up, non-vocally asking you if you were okay.
Letting out a small laugh, you looked at your feet before speaking.
"I'm sorry you had to witness that" You told him in a hushed voice while trying to avoid eye contact. "It's fine, I couldn't stop crying myself when I finished the drama"
Deciding to try and have a good conversation with the nice guy, you finally looked back at him. "So are you traveling alone?" You asked him.
"Yeah, I've always wanted to go to Barcelona. They say their beaches are the best, and could make you speechless and I want to see it for myself" He excitedly told you.
"Is it your first time to travel alone?"
"Not really. This would be my third time" You nodded and told him how lucky he is that he got to do it often.
"How about you?" He asked you back. "Is it your first solo trip?"
You said yes by slowly nodding your head. "I'm really nervous if I have to be honest. My mom usually plans our trips. I don't even know what I would do If I got lost. I didn't even get a tour guide, because that wouldn't fit my budget." You start talking while playing with your fingers.
"It's going to be fun. Don't worry too much. If something bad happens, then it happens. You could miss out on so many great things if you begin to worry."
He gave out another smile. Something that is weirdly comforting from a stranger.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are now approaching Barcelona where the local time is 1:00 PM. Please be in your seat with your seatbelt firmly fastened...."
With the sound of the speakers telling everyone to prepare for landing, the conversation was immediately cut off. You went to check if your seatbelt was fastened and if the seat tables were stowed away properly. Your phone was turned off so you didn't have to worry about it. You've always hated take offs and landing. The ear clogging is painful and irritating. Just as you were about to prepare for ringing in your ears, the guy beside you started to pass you something again.
This time it was chewing gum.
"Do you want some? I chew on them it so my ears won't hurt during landing"
How does he seem to have a solution for everything I go through?
You grabbed the gum and thanked him before you could even hear the insufferable ear popping.
When you felt the plane land and when the cabin crews finally announced your arrival, you stood up quickly feeling the numbness in your legs that you have to pray to the gods that you wouldn't stumble over and make a fool out of yourself.
When you've finally got a hold of all your carry-ons, you prepared yourself to head out of the plane doors but before you did, saying thank you to the kind stranger who treated you well wouldn’t hurt.
But as you turn around in search of the striking set of eyes and beautiful tanned skin, he was nowhere to be found
Your eyes scanned what was left of the plane but only a few people were there, and none were of him.
I guess that was it. I never even got his name.
When the Barcelona air had hit your face and the unfamiliar landscape had come into your view, you've finally realized something; you're going to be doing this on your own now. No parents. No siblings. No tour guide. Not even a kind stranger to help you sort things out.
It's just you, alone, ready to take on an adventure that you've waited for so long.
___
You were lucky to get a great hotel at the heart of the Gothic Quarter, located just near the cathedral. It was summer and a lot of families were on vacation so you worried whether you'd be getting a good place to stay without having to pull out any more money than you've already had. Luckily for you, one of the hotels with good reviews that offers a cheap price had a room fitted enough for your liking and budget.
After setting down your things in the room, you decided to give the place a tour. The walls were painted white and they were accented with wood to fit the classy mood. There was a huge sliding window that connected the room and a small balcony that gives you a great view of the skyline. The room was small so there really wasn't much to look at. It was your typical summer hotel room but you couldn't complain. You were just glad you got here. You decided to go outside and take a look at the whole building before you decide to tour Barcelona. Grabbing your camera, you headed outside on the way to their lobby.
It was crowded, a lot of families were already here. Some were lounging on the couch and the children were running around. The staff was busy but they still accommodated their guests well. You decided to ask them for more inclusions and fair enough, you were pretty satisfied. They served a breakfast buffet and a rooftop pool. Although most hotels have that now, you still couldn't hide your smile.
It was time that you decided to go tour the city, starting with the cathedral that was a few blocks from my accommodation. A lot of people have said that the Barcelona Cathedral was something everyone must see in their lifetime. And there was no denying how amazing it was. With its gothic architecture and tall structures, you would’ve beat yourself up if you missed the chance to witness it.
You quickly took out your camera and started snapping pictures. Growing up loving the arts, you have always appreciated these kinds of things. The way the building was structured had you at awe. Photos wouldn't capture its beauty. You decided to go closer when you heard a deep voice behind you.
"Excuse me, could I take a picture?"
You turned around, surprised by the voice, but what surprised you more was who owned it.
It was him. The kind stranger that sat beside you on the plane. He was holding his camera that was hanging from his neck. He gave you a smile once again and a wave of his hand as if to say hello. "Either this is a coincidence or fate just wants us together”.
"What are you doing here?" You asked with surprise and confusion written on your face. "I mean, I did tell you I'm here on vacation right?" He said as if it was obvious.
Of course he is, why would I even ask that.
"I'm sorry I scared you." He apologized while giving a worried smile.
"No, don't worry, I just wasn’t expecting anyone. Just a bit surprised, that's all"
It really was a surprise. Even Jay questioned whether it was her or not.
He just got to the cathedral when he saw her standing in the middle with her looking through her viewfinder. He didn't believe it at first but after getting a good look, he knew it was her.
Then it felt awkward. There were hundreds of people and cars making noise around but the silence between the two of you was deafening.
To avoid the atmosphere you decided to just look through the photos on your camera. Until he spoke again.
"Do you want to check the inside?"
Without hesitation, you nodded your head since that was what you were planning to do before he arrived.
And so two pairs of feet led the both of you inside the infamous gothic church. The stranger was standing beside you making it seem like the both of you arrived together on purpose. People who don't know any better would think that the both of you are on this trip as a couple on their honeymoon (not that you would want people to think that).
It's either he must really respect your space or he was just as fascinated as you as he decided to not hold a conversation after entering the wide doors. Jongseong quickly took notice of the fact that you took your time to admire the interior of the cathedral. After looking at the beautiful ceiling he glanced at your amazed expression and involuntarily let out a small smile that even he wasn't aware of.
As you took your time looking up at the sculpted pillars and the intricate details of the altars and pews that were lit with a golden tint, mixed with the natural light that came from the stained glass windows, the mysterious man started talking again.
"Its other name is The Cathedral of the Holy Rosary and Saint Eulalia"
Looking from the altar to his face that the natural lighting perfectly captured, you waited for him to continue what he was saying, intriguing your curious and hungry mind. He was looking away from your gaze as he went on with what he had to say. "Most people know the place as the Barcelona Cathedral while locals like to call it La Seu."
After his explanation, he looked back at you and met with your eyes and went back to his discussion. "They named it after Saint Eulalia. She was a martyr. Was only 13 at the time that she was murdered by Roman soldiers. Poor soul was even tortured before her death. 13 different times specifically."
"Why'd they murder her?" You asked back, curious as to what happened.
"They said that she didn't want to renounce her Christianity when everyone was told to do so" His voice trailed off. He placed his hands inside the pockets of his coat and rocked on his heel. "I think it's admirable how she stuck to what she believed in despite other people telling her otherwise."
You thought to yourself, this man was really full of surprises. You came to this country hoping to learn something new but you never thought that it would be from a boy you met on the plane. "I guess you've done your research before coming here" You stated.
"I've read them somewhere. Stuff like these have always piqued my interest. Churches, paintings, sculptures, you name it."
"Art student?" You asked him with a raised brow.
"Was I too obvious?" He replied with a smirk. The both of you started to let out a small laugh while unintentionally synchronizing as you both stared at your feet.
"How about you?" Confused as to what he meant, you stared up at him with both brows raised. "Art student?" With a sad smile you shook your head left and right slowly. "Uhm...no. Legal management actually" He hummed and nodded at the same time in response.
"Lawyer?" He asked again. "I hope so". Jongseong seemed to notice the way you reacted but didn't dwell too much as to why. He just decided to switch back to your previous topic. "Well attorney, the locals also said that their cloister is also a must-see" His deep voice enthusiastically mentioned letting go of your previous conversation. "Then we should"
The both of you walk down the path on the way to the open-aired garden. At the heart of it was a beautiful sunbathed oasis that housed geese. Holding out your camera, you looked through the viewfinder to get a perfect shot of the scenery. Adjusting the zoom, aperture, and the angle in order to capture all of its beauty.
To your right, unknown to you, Jongseong was taking his own pictures. Not of the scenery. But of the person who captured his attention.
__
Your mom would pull out every strand of her hair all at once if she ever finds out that her daughter is roaming a foreign city with a man she just met.
You're honestly surprised that you aren't kicking your ass for something that could possibly be so dangerous. For all you know, this man could have been a serial killer or your stalker that had finally cornered you in a place that you know nothing of.
But alas, here you are heading for a small bookshop on the corner of La Rambla, Barcelona, because the both of you have found out that you enjoy the aura of bookstores.
You don't really understand it yourself as to why you would agree to let this man take you there without even knowing his name. However, something about him made you rely on him. His cold exterior was washed over by his warm and kind personality that you just couldn't help but see him as someone you could depend upon.
Known by a lot of people, you love reading. A small space at your home was dedicated to a shelf of all of the novels that you have read all throughout your reading journey. So when your strange new friend mentioned that he saw an antique bookshop on the way to the Cathedral, you did not hesitate to let him take you there.
The beautiful tree-lined pedestrian street of La Rambla was filled with people — tourists and locals. The streets were crowded and you made sure to look over your stuff in case there were any pickpockets. Your new friend decided that he should walk a step behind you to keep you safe.
Taking a short turn, your eyes have finally met with a bookshop that had an antique housing to compliment its aesthetic. You stared up at him to confirm whether this was the place that he was referring to. He nodded and held out his arms which meant that you should go in first.
You opened the doors to the bookstore and you were quickly met with an array of books and novels lined up on wooden shelves with a number of rows. The inside was incredibly quaint and you hoped to the gods that you could find a good book in English without having to spend hours looking through all of them.
You weren't the only one fascinated with what you saw. You looked at the person beside you to see that he had his mouth open and his eyes fixated on the rows of shelves that lined up inside the antique bookshop.
The both of you wasted no time looking through the number of books. Your eyes quickly scan the shelves for a nice read. The titles were filled with different genres and languages. Fiction, travel guides, biographies, classics, history memoirs. It was every bibliophile's dream. You weren't really sure what you were looking for to begin with.
Should I get a Jane Austen novel? Or maybe a memoir on Princess Diana? A dystopian book? A different version of your Percy Jackson books that you have on your shelf? Or maybe just get another law book for one of your legal management classes to get it over with.
You thought to yourself as you looked through the pages of every novel that your hands could pick up. You decided to look through the shop when you finally caught the sight of your companion. He had his back turned as he was looking through a book over at one section of the shop. Arts section. You should've known.
You decided to take a look at this section yourself. As you approached his figure, Jongseong turned around sensing yours. You waited until you approached him before speaking. "Found something you like?"
He nodded his head yes as he showed you what book he wanted to buy. A memoir on Michaelangelo. "How about you?" This time, he asked you. You nodded your head no with a sad smile. "I don't even know what I'm looking for"
"Well, what do you like?" He asked again.
"What inspires you?"
"Uhm....I don't know. Politics? Maybe I could read about the policies around he-" You weren't even able to finish your sentence because you were cut off with his deep voice. Jay knew that tone and expression. That voice didn't show genuine love for what you were talking about.
"What do you honestly like?" Not believing your excuse, he asked again.
You took a few seconds to answer his question. "I like photography".
He raised his eyebrows at you. His body was now facing yours and his eyes were intently looking at your face while listening closely to what you have to say. "I've always liked photography. When my mom bought me my camera, I wouldn't let go of it and just take photos of everything. I've only tried landscapes because that was the only thing I could start with. I've wanted to do portraits but I don't have enough ideas on how to do it. Plus, my major doesn't really give me the time to practice."
Jay saw the twinkle in your eyes as you talked about your love for the art form. "Then it's settled. Let's get you a book on that one"
Without even realizing it, he was soon dragging you all across the bookshop trying to look for the perfect book to take home.
And somehow, someway, after buying yourself a book on the art of photography, you and your companion found yourselves having dinner at one of the restaurants you found down the street. The both of you have decided to try tapas.
You didn't know when, but the awkward atmosphere that the both of you had when you first met was replaced with comfort and a light air.
Despite not knowing each other's names, you talked as if you're old friends that were catching up with one another after not seeing each other for years. While waiting for the order to arrive, the both of you started discussing what other places you plan to go to during your stay.
"There's this place I saw online. I was planning to go there. But it's getting late, I think it'd be better if I go there when the sun is still out" You said to the young man that was sitting across from you. "What's it called?" He asked.
"Uhm it's a park. I think it's called Ciutadella? Ciutadella Park?" You told him not really sure if your pronunciation was correct.
His eyes immediately widened, signalling that he knew what you were talking about. "I was planning to go there too! They have this amazing cascada inside the park. It’s near The Sagrada Familia if you want to check that out too. " He told you with an excited tone. You smiled at his reaction.
Suddenly, you wondered whether the both of you would be going together just like what you did today. You thought about if it was a good thing to ask him that because you didn't want to seem like you have attached yourself already with your travel partner and that you would want to tour the city with him again tomorrow. It was silly to be honest. Why would I want to go sightseeing with this man when the only thing I know about him is his face and his love for art? You realized that you were still in mid conversation and that it was rude to just go quiet all of the sudden.
"I was planning to practice taking pictures once I got there" You said to him. Your fingers were playing with the utensils you had in front of you. While slightly tapping on the wooden table, Jay replied. "That's great then. I guess we should go there early so you have enough natural light."
We? Is he really implying that we should go together?
He looked at your face and saw that your expression was mixed with both confusion and surprise. Your head was slightly tilted like a lost puppy, your mouth was slightly ajar, and your eyebrows were raised. He started questioning whether he said the right words. Did he come off as too adherent?
"You want us to go together?" He was caught off guard when you asked him. Not knowing the right words to say, he stammered. "I mean...if you want to...I'm not forcing you, it's just...I mean, we are going to the same place, so why don't we go together?"
His voice was hanging in the air. The only sounds that you two heard were the cluttering of utensils, other customers talking, and the background music that the restaurant provided. You noticed his eyes shaking trying to avoid your eyes. Then, you let out a giggle.
"Sure" You said.
His eyes finally met with yours the instant you said that word. "Oh God, I thought you would think I'm a creep" With his words you started to laugh. "You kind of are" You joked while telling him with a smile. Jay played along, letting out an exaggerated gasp while his right hand found his chest. "I feel offended"
You were still laughing at his silly expression when you continued talking "To be honest, you wanted to sit with me during the plane ride and now you decide to come up to me at the cathedral. I think that calls for a creep" He smiled at your smug expression as you talked. "I only did it because it was painful to watch. You kept frowning every five minutes" He fired back. Jay gave an equally smug look and now it was your turn to react. "Was it really painful to watch?" He started laughing, showing you his smile.
Soon your laughter started to die down. The air between the two of you was silent again, but in a comforting way.
Epiphany hits you after your discussion on how the both of you met. You never got to say thank you properly. When you turned around to say your gratitude, you went looking for him, only to see that he was gone. Not losing the opportunity again, you decided to tell him now.
"Thank you, by the way" He looked up at you when you said those words.
He was silent and didn't say anything so you decided to explain further. "For what you did on the plane. Switching seats, the tissue — as embarrassing as that was, the chewing gum. You didn't even know me but you decided to help. So....Thank you"
A smile slowly started to form across Jay’s face. He saw your shy demeanor as you said your gratitude towards him which made his heart flutter. "You're welcome," He replied.
"It's strange how we just met and you start treating me like a friend but you did it anyway. I mean, look at us, we don't even know each other's names and-" Your blabbering was cut off with his deep voice.
"Jongseong. Or Jay if you prefer." He replied. "That's my name"
“Y/N. Nice to meet you”
__
You were pretty satisfied that your day had ended with you putting a name to that stranger's face.
Jay.
Ever since you told each other your names, they pretty much rolled off the tongue. After dinner both of you really had nothing left to do except enjoy the Barcelona night sky. Jay talked to you throughout the evening. He told you how he got into art and why he loves it so much. From his story, you clearly tell that it was something he was passionate about. It basically ran through his entire body.
But just when I thought that nothing could beat his love for painting, Jay couldn't help himself as he told you about his friends back home. He even took the time to pull out a photo of them that he had on his wallet to show you. With the way he smiled while he told you all of his favorite memories of them together, it was clear that he really valued them.
Of course, you had to share stories as well. It would be really unfair on his part if he did all the talking.
So you told him how your major wasn't even your first choice. You've wanted to take up photography or film as your degree. But remembering how you felt like you had to repay your parents for everything that they had done, you decided to take up a pre-law course so you can follow in the footsteps of your father.
You had to admit that you didn't enjoy it at first but you grew to love it. The idea of switching majors still pops up once in a while but you've always told yourself that you could still do photography even with a PhD.
His words still rang in your head after you told him your story.
"You shouldn't do things to make other people proud. You have to make yourself proud"
Jay finally understood all those sad smiles everytime that topic was brought about. Sure, he felt sorry for her and wanted to tell her to switch if photography was what made her truly happy but he decided that he shouldn't. He wanted to respect your decision, knowing that he didn't have control over her life.
He walked you back to your hotel which was only a few blocks away from his. Before saying good night and "see you again", he promised to wait for you outside of your hotel tomorrow at 8:00 AM so the both of you could go to the Ciutadella Park and the Basilica together.
It was silly how quickly you had trusted this man to join you while you toured around the city but that was nearly impossible not to do with his charming personality.
Jay couldn't believe it himself that he was able to build a friendship (if that's what you called it) through this trip. It's usually just him traveling alone or traveling with friends but never with a woman he just found out the name of.
And so the night goes. Neither of them could sleep properly because of jetlag. You also had to remind yourself to update your parents because they might be going crazy at this point. Of course, you didn't tell them about Jay. They would flip. You thought that it'd be better if you kept this to the both of you.
__
The alarm that you've set the previous night rang to tell you that it was time to get ready for day 2 of your formerly called solo trip in Barcelona.
To say that you felt giddy to finally have to spend the whole entire day traveling the city was an understatement. You want to believe that it was because yesterday's flight tired you out that you haven't comprehended the thought that you are strolling the city but if you were trying to be honest enough, it was probably because your thoughts were filled with the art-loving and soft hearted boy that accompanied you.
Now, after getting ready to go out, you decided to go down to the hotel lobby as Jay said he will be meeting you there. Waiting for the elevator doors to open, you made sure that you looked presentable enough. When the ground floor came into your sight, you got out of the golden walled elevator and walked down to the lobby.
The place was huge and crowded. Dozens of people were walking around or seated on the sofas but within those numbers of people, your eyes still found him sitting on one of the sofas near, with his eyes on the floor.
Jay has been sitting on the same couch for the past 25 minutes, waiting for you to come down. He came early just in case you finished before him, not wanting you to wait too long. A few of the hotel staff have approached him already asking if he wanted anything. He didn't want to be paranoid but at one point he even thought that you ditched him and went ahead earlier. That was until he saw your figure walking towards him.
Jay was beautiful. You've noticed it from the first time you saw him. His eyes pulled you in and his boxy smile captivated you. It was like seeing a star up close. But just like him, you wouldn't admit it out loud.
When he first saw you, he didn't deny the fact that he thought that you were attractive. That obviously wasn't something he would say so suddenly but it was still something he would have to admit for himself. Today was just like yesterday. The same thoughts came running through his head when he saw you smile at him as you approached him.
He immediately stood up to greet you and to return the smile you gave him. "Ready for today?" He asked with a welcoming look. Returning the kindness, you answered him. "Of course!" You held out your camera and smiled.
"Well let's get going then"
_
It surprisingly just took the both of you a few minutes from your hotel room to your destination. Somehow, to the extent of your knowledge, the small map that Jay had prepared for his trip came in handy in time of traveling the city. With your broken Spanish, you thanked a few people that helped you get to where you are now — Ciutadella Park.
You were welcomed with a wide steel fence, wedged in between two statues. The inside was like a forest that housed itself with many trees and a peaceful ambiance. When the both of you finally got inside, you were more than pleased to see such beauty. The garden was gorgeous. It was surrounded by hundreds of plants, and the air was as fresh as it looked. The fountain at the center was enormous and breath-taking. Upon entering, you couldn't contain the excitement and started capturing everything you could see. From the flowerscape to the cascade, you knew that you would be able to fill your camera with so many pictures.
But pictures will only be pictures until you turn them into memories.
Jay suddenly asked you if you wanted to get your picture taken. Quickly hesitating, he kept on persisting, saying that it won't be forever that you would get to see this place, and not having your photo taken there could make you regret it in a few years.
"If you let me take your picture, I'd let you practice your portraits on me"
A tempting offer since that is what you told him that you wanted to do. Honestly, you just felt shy to stand in front of the camera with him taking the photo. Silently giving him a look that said "I kind of want to, but I'm not sure", he extended his hand which meant to give him your camera. After a few more seconds of deciding, you finally caved in. He instructed you to stand near the fountain and smile, in which you did.
Jay really had no excuse other than to build up conversation again. He didn't even intend to say that you would model for him but seeing there really isn't any other person there with her, he had no choice. Not that he complained, he saw a few of your photos, some through the camera he took from you, and some through what you showed him over dinner last night. He trusted what you could do — something an artist like him would know. He saw you stand in front of the scenery ready to smile for the camera.
He had to admit that you look just as gorgeous compared to the garden. You were breath-taking. After taking more than a dozen pictures, Jay handed you back your camera. While actually judging yourself through the screen, your companion took some pictures of his own. A few of the scenery, and some, of you.
You had to admit, he did make you look decent in the photo. He captured your smile without it looking too cheesy. There were a few candid shots here and there but you were pretty pleased with it. It made you glad that you agreed to Jay’s random request. You looked back up and saw him taking some photos on his own camera.
You approached with a smirk. "So how about that deal?", already knowing what you meant, he hid his camera and smiled at you.
The whole practice shoot with Jay took a lot of shots, laughing, whining, and begging. He was an amazing model, you were sure of it. If he didn't major in arts, you would most probably see him on a billboard or a magazine. His looks alone could get those companies big money. Jay was also a goof. He liked to play a lot. Like a cat. He has a habit of charming people. He doesn't do it intentionally, it just sort of comes naturally to him.
They just find him too irresistible. He isn't aware that he has such a contagious smile and laugh that even when he does the bare minimum, people laugh along with him. It didn't surprise you that despite not having many still shots where he wasn't laughing, Jay looked exceptionally good. To say that he was impressed with your skills was an understatement, he saw your passion so whatever you had put out, he knew that he would like it. I mean, art built from passion is always better than aesthetically pleasing art right?
The day passed by like lightning. After taking your photos of your companion, you both strolled around the park, even going to the lake to take a short boat ride.
Now, the both of you were on your way to the Picasso museum for Jay. It took both of you at least another several minutes of travel. He started to become giddy. He didn't show it but through the small time of knowing him, you knew that he was ready to see the exhibit.
When the two of you entered the museum, you could see that he was gleaming with excitement. The once talkative boy became quiet as he took his time to admire the art pieces. He carefully read each description and he would tell you his own analysis of each work.
"I'm sorry if I talk about this stuff too much" He started to apologize. Something he shouldn't do. No one should really apologize for something that makes them genuinely happy.
"You have nothing to be sorry about. I like hearing you talk about these things" You assured him. He looked from the painting on the wall to you. "You do?" You nodded in response. "Of course. It tells me something I never knew" Jay gave you a small and genuine smile. He really appreciated it when people listened to his explanations and stories. It makes him want to tell more.
"Well I hope you wouldn't mind if I asked you to go to one more right?"
"Today? I thought we were going to the night market?" You asked back. "We can always go tomorrow or the next day, I mean we have-"
"Jay" You cut him off. He hummed in response and looked at you. "Tomorrow is my last day. My flight leaves at 11PM" You quickly told him before he starts making plans for the future. You completely forgot to tell him that your stay here was limited and that you have to go back home immediately.
"So soon?" You nodded in response.
"I still have like a few days left, traveling wouldn't be fun without you" He said with a pout on his face. You couldn't help but awe at him. If only you could stay for a few more days but booking another plane ticket would cost you more and you didn't have money for that now.
"We could still go in the morning or the afternoon though, I wouldn't mind" You smiled at him. Unintentionally and unknowingly, you lightly grabbed his arm, something which startled him a bit, but in a good way. "Well then miss Y/N, let's make your last day memorable. I'm taking you to Madrid"
__
Tomorrow came back so soon. After yesterday, Jay said he would pick you up again for your last day tour around the city. Madrid wasn't really in your plan of things to do but he said to be spontaneous. He wanted you to make the most out of it. You want to see more of the country and its culture and what better way to do that than to hop from one city to another.
Just like yesterday, Jay arrived at your hotel lobby before you. He sat again in the same seat with the same look. Madrid was at least a two hour trip so the both of you quickly headed out, not wanting to waste time.
"So how long is your stay here?" You asked him while taking the long bus ride. "A week. My flight leaves on Saturday" he said. Just like you, Jay didn't plan to go to Madrid. He was supposed to go later into his trip but some things have changed and he just decided to just go ahead with it.
He didn't really understand why he would go all the way and mix up all his plans and tire himself out for this girl he just met, but he was glad that he did. He loved your company, and to think that he would then have to spend the rest of his trip without someone he could tell jokes and stories with didn't seem as exciting as he first hopped on the plane to Barcelona.
"You've said that this wasn't your first trip right?" You began to ask him to start a conversation. He hummed and nodded in response. "Out of all of them? What was your favorite?" He gave it short thought, slightly tilting his head to think of an answer. "I'm not sure. They were all special"
"Come on you have to have one favorite"
"Not really, they're all different in their own way I guess, so I can't really choose"
"Alright, I’ll let you sit that one out"
Jay began a new conversation. "My turn. Tell me something about you."
"Well...I like watching dramas," You said in an obvious tone. "Except that. I knew that already. Tell me something I don't know " He was sitting beside you. You had the window seat and he had the altar. He was staring down at you while you took your time to think of something while looking out the window.
"I've never had a relationship" You answered him. He gave you a questionable smirk but replied quickly. "I won't judge. Why, though? Too busy with school?"
You shook your head to say no. "It's not that. I just haven't really gotten the timing of it" You saw that he was confused, he tilted his head slightly to show it.
"I was never one for a relationship. They come around but they don't stay for a while before something even happens. I don't know. I just start pushing them away because of this irrational fear I have of commitment."
"So you're afraid?"
"You could call it that"
It was silent for a while. You thought that you had brought the mood down until he started talking again. "I used to be afraid." You looked up at him as he began his story.
"Before I had my first partner, I wouldn't know how to act around everyone if I was in a relationship and that scared me. When I got into my first relationship, I immediately thought, 'what was I so afraid of?'. Everything just felt so nice that I never even realized that I was afraid in the first place"
"Then what happened?" Curiously you asked.
"We had our differences. I found out that they have been seeing my roommate behind my back. Got to my dorm to fetch something and I got the biggest shock of my life"
"If you're saying this so I won't be scared anymore then you're not helping"
"I'm saying this, to tell you that being afraid is totally understandable. But you gotta let go of your fear sometimes and just go with it. It could be some of the best years of your life. If worse comes to show then better people will come along the way. Yeah it sucked that I got cheated on, but I realized that I probably saved myself from that one and gave myself a chance to meet someone else. You just have to let fate bring the both of you together"
___
Time flew by too quickly, much to your dismay. Madrid was lovely. You got the chance to stroll around Retiro Park and Royal Palace and you had to thank Jay a couple of times to thank him for making you come.
Sadly, time really wasn't your best friend as it was time to go back to Barcelona to pack your bags so you could go to the airport and get back home. Jay was the sweetest, you told him that he didn't have to take you to the airport but he insisted despite it taking the both of you another two hours to get to your hotel room.
He decided to wait outside your hotel room while you finished gathering your things out of respect for your personal space. When you were done, he didn't hesitate to grab your luggage to help you.
It was 9PM and you had two hours to spare before your flight leaves. The taxi ride was quiet as Jay sat sat next to you. There was a small space in the middle and no one dared say a word. It wasn't an awkward silence though, more of a comforting but sad silence. It was deafening even when they had the radio turned on.
Deciding to break the unfathomable silence, you decided to speak.
"Thank you. Again. I know I've said it already but it wouldn't be enough after everything you've done"
"Don't worry. Anyone else would've done the same"
They wouldn't.
"And thank you too," He said. His eyes saw that your hand was lying on your lap.
After hesitating he softly gave them a squeeze. It surprised you but it didn't freak you out. You were even glad that he did that.
"This whole trip wouldn't be the same now that you're going to go" He said with a point. His left hand was softly playing with the fingers on your right hand. You gave him a sad smile.
"We could do it again soon" you replied quietly, not making eye contact, implying that you would like to see him again once you both got home.
"Are you asking me out once I get back home?" He said with an evident smug on his face. "I mean....that isn't what I meant, but if you wanted to" you replied back."I just wish I had your contact number so we could arrange something " His weak attempt of asking for your number made you laugh but it worked nonetheless. Soon you found yourself typing in your phone number on his cell.
Finally arriving at the airport, he took a hold of your luggage for you.
You honestly didn't want to do it. For just 3 days, his presence became a constant reminder to you that you wished to have him by your side when you got inside the plane..
He made you feel less scared.
"I guess you have to go, your plane is waiting for you" He gave your hand one final squeeze before handing you your luggage and letting your hand go. Your fingers felt cold and you'd want to grab a hold of him again but you thought that you shouldn't. You thought that it would be too much. "Yeah. Who's going to switch seats with the old guy beside me now?" You lightly joke.
You probably should walk away now but you weren't. You were still there standing in front of him. "It was nice to meet you Jay, you made this trip extra special" You smiled at him. Without saying anything back, he just nodded. It was your chance to turn around, walk away from him, and to leave Barcelona.
But you guess he had other ideas. To your surprise, you felt a hand grasp your wrist. It was a firm hold but not tight enough for it to hurt. It was firm enough to tell you to not go just yet.
"I've never said it before when you asked but this one was my favorite trip out of all of them."
Jay was bold when he grabbed her closer to him. You felt his lips meet your cheek. It was sudden and out of the blue and it left you frozen for a few seconds. As he slowly stepped back, you turned your head and connected your lips with his. It took a few seconds to realize what was happening but soon he slowly traveled his hand from her wrist to the tips of your face. His hand was resting on your jaw while every square inch of your body dissolved into his. You suddenly felt a sensation you never knew you were feeling. Jay’s soft hold on you made you cling on to him and made you want him closer than he already was. It wasn't intense, but it wasn't just a goodbye either. It was desperate but soft. It was quick but enough.
The both of you had to let go to catch your breath. With a sad look you had to let go. "I'll see you when you get home."
___
Your mom had bombarded you with dozens of questions after she picked you up from the airport.
She wanted to know everything, the plane ride, she wanted to know how food tastes, if I talked to any Spanish men while I was there, or if I made a friend. You were too tired and too out of focus to even answer her.
Jay was still on your mind and you couldn't find the right time to tell her that you did meet someone while you were there and that you both shared a moment before leaving. You wondered how he was doing, or where he was right now, but you couldn't ask him. Your idiocy forgot to tell you to get his phone number so you had to resort into waiting for him to get him which would still be in a few more days.
When you were transferring your photos from your camera to your laptop, your mom immediately wanted to check them out. Just when you thought you've hidden all your photos you had of your companion in a separate folder. One picture was left unknown to you.
“He’s cute” As your mom, she quickly asked who the stranger was. As if you could've hid it for that long you decided to tell her. Not that she was mad that you had spent your whole trip traveling with a man you just met surprised her but the fact that your stories made it seem like you've known him for so long. “Uhm…I met him on the plane. He happened to be traveling alone too so we just…decided to keep each other company.”
Suddenly, you remembered everything he made you feel. For 3 days, he made you feel like you could trust him. He gave you so many encouraging words and charming lines which immediately attracted you to his loving personality. For 3 days, Jay made you feel like the world. He gave you something you could never forget.
But why does it feel like it doesn't go the same for him?
Now, it's been weeks since your Barcelona trip and you haven't received one text or phone call from him. You had to triple check whether your cell was still on airplane mode and it wasn't. You started overthinking whether you gave him the wrong number or not and he would think that you didn't want to talk to him anymore. Worse, you started overthinking whether he really wanted to see you again.
You've thought of every possible scenario from him accidentally deleting your number or him getting his phone stolen, but none had soothed your thoughts.
Maybe you were thinking too irrationally and you were getting attached too quickly that you feel disappointed that he has not contacted you yet. It was only 3 days right? You shouldn't be so bummed about him not reaching out after weeks? But why were you? Why are you over thinking about him? Was that kiss just a spur of the moment? Were you just a matter of convenience and spontaneity?
Time flew by, much to your dismay.
A new semester has started and you haven't heard from Jay after your vacation. You've slowly started to let it go thinking that it wouldn't make a difference if you mopped around.
To say that you didn't want to go back was an understatement but you had no other choice. You were early by 5 minutes for your first class, much to your surprise. Your friends Karina and Wonyoung, were already there sitting together. They even saved you a seat as they gestured for you to come over.
"Do any of you want to go with me to the Art departments exhibit tonight? I gotta go support Sunghoon but I don't want to go alone, he'd be too busy with the gallery" Wonyoung asked as you sat down. "Isn't he a sports major?" Karina asked back.
"Yes but he had to take extra units in Art. Do you want to come?"
"Sorry Won, I promised my mom and dad to dinner later"
"Y/N?"
"Yeah sure, I guess it'd be fun"
To be honest, you've never appreciated art as much as you did before Barcelona. Jay changed your mind on it. And now every painting you see, you couldn't stop thinking about him.
By 6 in the evening you found yourself standing with Wonyoung inside the Art departments gallery. You've never realized that the students from your university were crazy talented. The paintings and sculptures were made with fine hands. All of them had their own color and technique.
When Wonyoung said that Sunghoon would be too busy with the gallery to pay attention to her, you believed her.
You shouldn't have.
Her and her boyfriend were now having the time of their lives while you were left around to wonder and see the art. The place was huge and was packed with people but you managed to weave yourself to the last part of the exhibit.
You took your time reading each description and looking at the different strokes on each painting when you've come across one painting in particular.
It was a girl that had her back facing the canvas. She was surrounded by a familiar scene. The towering buildings made the girl look small, the sun shone in the oil canvas, and the trees seemed like they were swaying even if they were made to look still. The gothic painting was a place she knew well.
Barcelona.
It's been months since her last visit but the moments you have spent there were still clear. Of course, it would be. Everything was too memorable to forget — everything and someone. Memories of the charismatic but playful man played in your head and you couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic and regretful. You've thought that after your trip to the historic and romantic city in Europe, you'd finally met someone you were willing to have a romance with. But, maybe you spoke too soon, and too ambitious even.
By this time, it would have been best if you forgot everything and just moved on. I mean, you've only known the man for less than a week, how is it so possible that he could have this much of an impact on you? You've grown too attached to him and it didn't help that he wasn't there to actually have someone attached to. Maybe it was time to finally come to terms with your expectations of you and Jay. Maybe you shouldn't be so down that he didn't text you and just be glad that you met him; even if it was only temporary.
Detaching your gaze from the painting, you've led yourself outside to gather some fresh air. You'd hate to leave Wonyoung but she seems preoccupied as you texted her that you'd be heading out and she replied that she had Sunghoon with her. After pushing away the glass doors of the gallery, you were quickly met with a gust of wind blowing in your face. It was quiet and lonely unlike inside where it was jam-packed with people. You were just slowly getting used to the serene atmosphere when you heard the gallery doors behind you open once again.
As you looked to check who it was, you started to feel that the amount of wind blowing in your face was useless. Your breath was stuck on your throat. The man who exited the halls had your mouth left hanging. You want to think you were hallucinating but you've been blinking enough to know that this was real.
Park Jongseong.
Just like you, he stood completely still; he was huffing his chest, probably catching his breath from a quick run outside. Jay saw you from the gallery balcony looking at the oil canvas that he presented for his midterms. He didn't want to believe it at first but after a few seconds, he was sure. It was you. The girl he grew fond of after his trip last summer.
"Y/N...."
You didn't know how to act. You didn't know what to say. What were you supposed to do? Run up to him? Give him a hug? Tell him you missed him? Or were you supposed to walk away? Show him how embarrassed you felt after being left hanging?
All of these questions were running through your head but one thing was clear in Jay’s head.
He had to explain.
"I didn't expect to see you here" Jaycontinued to say as he slowly walked over to the girl. His voice was hushed and gentle, but it was still enough to have your heart racing. "Same here" You managed to reply.
He was finally standing in front of you. The distance felt awkward yet so familiar. "I-uh...." Jay began to stutter. "Uhm... What are you doing here?"
"A friend asked me to come with her" He nodded in reply. "Where is she?"
"With her boyfriend"
"So you're all alone now?"
"Wouldn't be the first time"
You saw his mouth shut tight.
It was quiet. No one spoke. You've gotten used to silence whenever you were with Jay during your time in Barcelona, but somehow this felt different. It wasn't a comfortable silence; it felt like someone wanted to fill the void with words.
"I'm sorry" You heard him say. You never prepared yourself to have this talk; nonetheless right at this moment. "I had no other excuse for not calling you other than I was afraid"
"Jay..."
"I ignored you when you must have waited for my text and I will forever regret being so scared to do it because I wasn't sure whether whatever happened between us was real or just a spur in the moment of loneliness"
You tried to avoid his deep gaze but they reeled you no matter what. "But after weeks, the feelings were still there and I didn't know how I was going to explain how it took so long to call you so I just left it at that..."
"And when I saw you, It's like someone inside of me told me that maybe leaving it all in Barcelona wasn't our last chance. That maybe, just maybe, I could make this right; stop being so afraid of what I feel."
"Where are you going with this Jay?"
He stepped closer.
"I made a mistake. I didn't call because I was afraid and thinking that all of it was just because I felt lonely. But I don't want to be that Jay anymore. I don’t want to be a hypocrite. I want to be the Jay that would be there for you, even outside of Barcelona. I don't know if our meeting was just a coincidence or a twist of fate, but I'll take them any day because I had the greatest opportunity of meeting you again."
And it was like, at that moment, you forgot all the words and have lost the ability to speak because right after he said that you couldn't help but stare at him.
"That is...if you want to of course...I don't want to force you or-"
"Jay.."
He stopped talking and looked at you.
“What you did really hurt me, you know that right?” You started off. “I know. And I don’t want to make any excuses. I would do anything for your forgiveness.”
You took a deep breath.
“Everything is just so sudden. One minute you disappear from the face of the earth and now you’re in front of me, asking me for a chance…Do you know how insane this sounds?”
He gulped and looked down on his feet.
“But I would be a fool to let you get away another time.”
“So what you’re saying is-”
“Coincidence. Fate. Whatever it is, I wouldn’t be so afraid to try things with you.”

mint choco hater 🍦– k.s
genre. fluff, non idol au, ice cream shop au, acquaintances to lovers (?) // pairing. non idol!kim sunoo x fem!reader // cw. cringe, flirting (?), vvv silly // wc. 1.2k // synopsis. sunoo works at an ice cream parlor and you’re their number one customer, freezing weather or not.
“here comes your favorite customer,” sunghoon’s voice rings out from the front. sunoo would never admit it, but he definitely perked up and almost jumped in joy at the sentence, before heaving out a sigh loud enough for sunghoon to hear.
“you can’t be serious. it’s like -10 outside,” sunoo huffs.
“oh i’m dead serious. get up here.”
sunoo rolls his eyes dramatically, but it was hard to hide his smile over the arrival of a certain regular in the ice cream parlor.
i mean really. it was -10 degrees outside. who wants ice cream in that kind of weather?
apparently this girl. and apparently she wants it in every kind of weather. the girl frequented the parlor weekly, sometimes daily, to get her beloved favorite ice cream flavor, (…). rarely was it ever something else that she got.
“it’s not even that good,” sunoo thought to himself. he was kind of still in disbelief over her appearance on today of all days.
“hello to my favorite ice cream parlor employee! how’s business today,” the girl questioned, a smile lighting up her face as she made her way up to the order station.
“very slow. i don’t know if you realized but it’s pretty cold outside.”
“oh i know… i just was really craving ice cream.”
“yeah…,” sunoo doesn’t know how to reply, so he asks, “do you want your usual?”
“not today! can you surprise me? ‘m getting kind of tired of(…),” the girl buzzes, her cold face beginning to warm up.
“surprise you?”
“yeah,” the girl nods.
“okay…”
sunoo grabs one of the cups and looks over the many flavors of ice cream.
“she’s practically had all of these,” sunoo thinks. “why is this so hard?”
then, his eyes glance over green and his eyes light up. “perfect!”
upon seeing his expression, the girls eyes trail over to where her look and she pales.
“not mint choco! i hate it,” the girl frantically calls to him, hands waving in a “no” motion.
sunoo can’t help but roll his eyes at her reaction, but still wants to manage to convince someone to try it.
“you sure? have you ever had it? it’s my favorite!”
“um i haven’t had it in a while, but most people don’t really like it and i’m not a big mint fan..,” the girl admits, her hands twiddling.
“cmon ice cream girl! try something new! you won’t regret it… if you do it’s on the house,” sunoo smiles, beginning to scoop the ice cream in the cup.
“…okay,” the girl whispers, hesitation laced in her voice. “if you say so my favorite ice cream parlor employee.”
“my name’s sunoo yknow. you can call me that if you want, since we see each other so much,” sunoo laughs, a smile beginning to form on his face.
“well you can call me y/n then sunoo,” the girl, y/n, smiles back at him.
sunoos smile is on full display now, a light blush dusting his face. it’s just first name basis… why is he so happy?
“okay y/n, here’s your mint choco ice cream,” sunoo beamed, sliding the ice cream across the counter towards y/n.
“thank you sunoo”
y/n grabs the cup but only stares at the ice cream, not moving to try it.
“don’t be scared y/n. it’s ice cream! it’s not gonna kill you,” sunoo laughs, coming around the counter towards the girl, but not before grabbing an extra spoon, “i’ll eat it with you,” he winks.
y/n feels a heat grow across her face, but does her best to keep her expression the same and act normal.
sunoo sees her face darken and a satisfied feelings envelops him. “atleast i’m not the only one who got flustered today,” he thinks.
“okay sunoo,” y/n whispers, looking up at him before looking back down quickly at the ice cream upon making eye contact with him.
“why am i acting like this? we always casually talk and make eye contact… usually he’s the more shy one,” y/n pouts to herself.
“okay count of three we’ll both take a bite okay!”
“okay…”
“1,”
y/n looks up at him again, fighting the urge to look away. she needs to be the confident one.
“2,”
sunoo notices her gaze and looks at her. a blush rushes to his face again but he maintains eye contact.
“3.”
they both bring their spoons to their mouths, y/n shutting her eyes as the ice cream hits her tongue.
“yup. not a big fan of mint,” y/n admits, her face scrunching in disgust.
“you’re being dramatic. it can’t be that bad,” sunoo laughs, reaching behind the counter to grab y/n a napkin.
using all the courage he had, he wiped some ice cream off of the girls lips, reveling in her face darkened once again.
y/n felt like her face was radiating heat, and honestly felt like she was about to short circuit.
“apparently it can. but atleast it was free.”
sunoo laughs again, bringing his hand up to cover his mouth.
“wow, he’s really pretty. how have i not noticed this before,” y/n thought to herself.
“y/n, did you really not like it,” sunoo asks, his head tilting to the side. y/n can’t help the smile that falls upon her face at the sight.
“i really did not like it.”
“why not?”
“i don’t like mint… like at all.”
“you’re a weirdo,” sunoo huffs put jokingly, “how can you not like mint but you’ll eat (…) almost everyday?”
“because (…) is good and mint is not. hope that helps,” y/n smiles.
“hmmm… what i think is,” sunoo starts, “that you came in with a bias and you didn’t give mint choco a full chance! you need to try it again some other day, when it’s not cold!”
“why would i try something i don’t like again a different time?”
“because we’re gonna go to a different parlor and eat it on a nice sunny day.”
“we are?”
“we are,” sunoo smiles, “if you’re not opposed to it of course!”
“i am not. so when do you want to have our mint choco redemption,” y/n questions, her eyebrows raising at the boy in front of her.
sunoo smiles again. he’s relieved she didn’t say no. but he hadn’t really thought that far ahead.
“not sure. can i get your number? to plan out the details of course.”
“sure.” sunoo pulls out his phone and y/n takes it from him and begins typing in her number.
she raises it and takes a picture before handing it back to sunoo.
when he looks at the new contact, a blush rushes over his face again.
“y/nie 🩷” accompanied by a very cute picture of y/n.
“very cute,” sunoo says, not realizing he’s talking out loud instead of in his head.
heat rushes to y/ns face as she tries to cover her face. she laughs, “thank you? your turn.” she hands her phone over to sunoo and he excitedly takes it.
he types and the holds the phone back as he puts up a peace sign and takes a photo.
“here ya go!” sunoo hands the phone back to y/n and she glances down at what he put.
“sunoo 🦊🧡”
“it’s cute!”
“i know!”
“okay i take it back,” y/n glares playfully, “but i kind of need to get going…”
“okay… i’ll text you when i get off,” sunoo smiles at her.
“i’d like that,” y/n smiles back.
“mhm… bye y/n.”
“bye sunoo… see you later.”
ೀ mia’s notes – i asked star if i could use her ice cream shop au idea for a oneshot and so i came up with this :D it kind of gets bad towards the end but i wanted to finish and post it, especially since i reached 200!!!! thanks so much teheheh!! i hope you guys like this :DDD

The Perfect Crime
[criminal!enhypen and criminal!fem!character]
Genre: Crime Warnings: crime obv (do NOT do it<3), few profanities, mention of champagne Word Count: 1.8k (1843)
Inspired by the song: Panic! At The Disco - Crazy = Genius
Synopsis: An extravagant banquet with magic can be, indeed, very entertaining.
!!! DO NOT REPOST NOR TRANSLATE WITHOUT PERMISSION !!!
The attendees trickled into the grand hall through enormous silver door. Their chatter merging with the elegant tunes of the live jazz band. As Sunghoon entered, mantaining a fleeting yet purposeful eye contact with one of the security team members. A subtle yet knowing signal passing between them before he melted into the crowd.
Nearby, Heeseung leaned into the ribbon microphone that subtly gave away the theme of the banquet - The 50s. His voice a velvet purr as he crooned the opening lines of the song. Crazy = Genius. The band behind him playing with perfect precision, the music weaving seaminglessly into the glamour of the event.
You can set yourself on fire You can set yourself on fire
Moments later, the highly anticipated magic show commenced, drawing the hall's attention.
Ni-ki standing on a small stage at the middle of the ballroom, his sharp tuxedo as crisp as the edges of the cards he expertly shuffled between nimble fingers. "My dear guests, it's an honor to finally see you. Glowing as ever. With my deepest respect, I am delighted to be able to perform infront of you tonight." He bowed deeply, his charming grin automatically met with polite applause. His act - billed as the highlight of the evening with the host being blissfully unaware of his ulterior motives, had spared no expense in hiring him.
She said at night in my dreams You dance on a tightrope of weird
"Ladies and gentlemen, I shall spare no weariness. My first trick is quite the eventful one." Ni-ki called out, silencing the murmurs among the crowd. "I'll need a volunteer. Someone brave, charming… perhaps even a billionaire?"
Across the room, Jake chuckled at the youngers choice of words. Slightly even suprised by the eloquentness of them. Grinning widely as well as drawing the attention of nearby guests, he raised his hand. Dressed in a sleek designer suit, confidence radiating, he spared no hesitation.
Oh but when I wake up you're so normal that you just disappear
"Oh, how convenient," Ni-ki quipped unsincerely. "You have my welcomes, dear sir."
As Jake moved toward the stage, he did not fail to exchange subtle glances with Sunghoon who was busy sipping his champagne while talking to woman who stroke into both of their likings regarding her beauty.
Current favourable outcome is the least one can say. Mingling with the crowd, slipping easily into conversations and leaving no suspicions.. only awe.
You're so straight like commuters with briefcases towing the line There's no residue of a torturer inside your of eyes
Behind the scenes, the operation was already underway.
Jay moving like a shadow through the service halls, his black suit blending seamlessly into the dimly lit corridors. His earpice buzzed with Jungwon's calm voice, feeding him directions from the van parked discreetly outside.
"The vault is through the next door on your left," Jungwon said.
Pulling a sleek tool from his pocket, Jay worked quickly on the electronic lock.
She said you're just like Mike Love but you wanna be Brian Wilson, Brian Wilson
"How's our magician, by the way?" he muttered.
"Oh," a snicker escaped Jungwon's lips. "he's doing his job chattery as always, distracting the hell out of them."
"Good to know that at least he does not fully break his character this time," replied Jay while entering the destinated room.
Said you're just like Mike Love but you'll never be Brian Wilson
Back in the ballroom, Ni-ki was in his element. Jake standing beside him as he whipped out a silk cloth and draped it over his 'volunteer'. The crowd could not help but to watch with anticipation.
And I said (hey ay, ay) If crazy equals genius (hey ay, ay) If crazy equals genius
"Now watch closely, my dear guests," Ni-ki intoned. "In the blink of an eye, this young and handsome man will vanish… into thin air!"
With a flourish, he whipped the cloth away. With Jake being gone, the crowd erupted into applause and delighted gasps. What they did not see, was him slipping offstage through a concealed passage, joining Jay near the vault.
Then I'm a fucking arsonist (hey) I'm a rocket scientist (hey hey) (Hey ay, ay) If crazy equals genius (hey)
Meanwhile, Sunoo paced the ballroom gracefully through the crowd, a silver tray of champagne balanced effortlessly on his palm. His smile - disarmingly sweet as he charmed the guests he served. Yet his actions being quick, slipping a jeweled brooch into his pocket here, a gold lighter there. It seemed like a triumphant night for both his team as well as himself. Catering his tastes with different types of expensive belongings. To his suprise, a guest approached him, visibly distressed.
"Excuse me, have you seen my bracelet?" the woman asked, her eyes darting nervously.
"Oh no, madam! Sadly no. Perhaps it fell under the table?" Sunoo answered with wide-eyed concern. Bending down as if to search, he deftly slipped the bracelet onto a waiter's cart passing nearby, just for him to pick it up later. Rising to his feet, offering an apologetic smile: "I'm terribly sorry. I wish I could help some more but I have other tables to tend to. May I find someone else who can assist."
She said darlin' you know How the wine plays tricks on my tongue But you don't seem to change when you stuff all of your feelings with drugs
He escorted her to a genuine security guard, explaining, "This madam misplaced her bracelet and she needs help finding it." The guest utterly concerned, followed the guard while Sunoo returned to his role.
Other boys you may have dated serrated your heart with a slice But the cut of your love never hurts baby, it's a sweet butter knife
Dressed in the uniform of a security guard, she moved with calculated precision. Already rerouted two actual guards away from the ballroom, citing suspicious activity in the kitchen. Now, hovering near the vault's entrance, ready to intercept anyone who might stumble upon Jay and Jake. Sensing no interruption for a while, a curious guard wandered too close for her liking. Stepping into his path with a firm expression.
"You're needed at the west exit. Now."
The guard hestitated but obeyed, leaving the hallway clear.
"Guys, you've got five more minutes." She whispered into her earpiece, "wrap it up. Quickly."
She said you're just like Mike Love but you wanna be Brian Wilson, Brian Wilson
In the vault, Jay and Jake worked swiftly. The room was an opulent fortress, lined with safety deposit boxes and shelves filled with priceless artifacts. Opening a velvet-line case, Jake exclaimed visibly dissatisfied, "Jeez, looked better in the pictures," revealing rows of glittering jewels that were to more than one's liking.
"Jake, you might as well just shut up. It's not like you're going to wear it." Jungwon replied with a dramatic eye-roll that was obviously not visible to the one he spoke to.
He transferred the treasure into a pouch as Jay secured the door behind them. "Let's go." Jake said, his grin sharp as a blade, knowing that another one of their escapades turned successfully.
Said you're just like Mike Love but you'll never be Dennis Wilson
The guests still not quite over after the magician's first trick. Yet Ni-ki was already launching his finale.
Sunghoon stepped to the center of the room, raising a glass to draw attention. "Dear fellow riches, friends and foes, a toast! To our generous host. To our amazing magician as well as the unforgettable evening. But most importantly, a toast to our riches that shall never be gone!" His voice smooth and smile dazzling that could make every woman absolutely stunned.
The guests raised their glasses, toasting along. But as Sunghoon continued, a sublte edge crept into his words.
"Unforgettable indeed," he said, "as magic has a way of… making things disappear."
Before the host could process the comment, the lights went out, plunging the room into the darkness. Gasps and murmurs filled the air, followed by the faint sound of footsteps and the creak of a service door opening.
And I said (hey ay, ay) If crazy equals genius (hey ay, ay) If crazy equals genius
When the lights flickered back on moments later, both Ni-ki and Sunghoon were gone, their absence noted by the now silent crowd. The host, sensing something was amiss, hurried to check the vault - only to find it empty.
On the door of the vault, a single playing card was taped: the Ace of Spades, with a note "Thank you for the lovely evening. We'll be sure to treasure the memories - and everything else we took." scrawled across it in elegant handwriting.
Then I'm a fucking arsonist (hey) I'm a rocket scientist (hey hey) (Hey ay, ay)
In the speeding van leaving the scene of plain robbery, the team celebrated their success.
"Shame shame. Wish it was silver instead of gold though." Sunoo giggled, tossing the stolen bracelet to Jake.
Jake caught it with a grin, giving it a quick look. “Nice, but I think this thing’s cursed. My grandma had a bracelet just like this, and she always told me it brings bad luck.”
Sunoo raised an eyebrow. “And yet, you’re still holding it. What does that say about you?”
“I like a little danger,” Jake replied, flashing a mischievous smile.
If crazy equals genius (hey) You can set yourself on fire (hey ay) But you're never gonna burn, burn, burn (hey ay) You can set yourself on fire (hey ay) But you're never gonna learn, learn, learn hey!
Ni-Ki smirked, tossing his top hat onto the dashboard. “I told you the disappearing act would kill. Who knew magic could actually be cool?"
Sunghoon leaned back, grinning smugly. "Who needs some shitty magic tricks when you can be charming as me. Enough to distract the entire ballroom."
Jay snorted from the steering wheel. "Yeah, your charm was so goddamn strong, kinda wished the chandeliers would fall on you."
Sunghoon gave him a knowing smirk. "Jealous very much?"
"Let's be glad it's over now. I think my stomach is fucking eating me from the inside." Added Jungwon, visibly displeased at the feeling of hunger.
Pulling her security cap off and shaking her hair loose, she said as she grinned to the team "Yeah, Jungwon's right. I'm hungry as hell, kinda wished I could throw few more punches though."
As the city lights blurred past the van's windows, the team bursted into laughter, raising their cups in a toast to their flawless execution.
"Now my dear friends, to the perfect crime!" Heeseung cheered, clearly imitating Sunghoon's previous speech.
And as the van sped off into the night, they all agreed, leaving behind nothing but the whispers of their latest heist and the promise of more to come.
You can set yourself on fire (hey) You can set yourself on fire (hey) You can set yourself on fire (hey) You can set yourself on fire

floating.
it’s how you felt whenever the prince was around. the stars and moon shone brighter, the breeze was always perfect when the two of you chased each other in the field of flowers that neighbored your castle, everything moving as if it was something out of an old film.
tranquility reigned when prince sunoo visited from time to time, not bothering to indulge in his duties as heir to the throne and instead pining over you and your beauty, unbeknownst to you.
his foolishness would end with a scolding from his father and a sympathetic look from his mother, someone who understood how much he yearned for you, the princess. she was once in his shoes, longing for a prince she couldn’t have.
you, on the other hand, were wild and carefree. your parents never paid mind to what you did, hoping you spent your years well before being shoved into the light of the throne. it was obvious you were spending them well, chasing the one person that made your days feel like a dream. nothing could make them happier than seeing their daughter pursue the prince she adored so much.
your visits were never long, neither were his, but the two of you always made the most of it. sneaking off at midnight, frolicking in the flower garden that accompanied your respective castles. they always ended with the two of you resting beside each other under the biggest tree in your gardens, a feeling of peace washing over the both of you each time the two of you fell asleep watching the sun rise.
but one night — one wondrous night — the prince had planned such a marveling evening for you. not too long ago, he found secluded area near the lake that separated your kingdom from the others. ruins, adorned with overgrown vines and flowers, border the lake. it was beautiful, like something out of a dream. he knew it was the perfect sight to execute his plan.
and after much arguing with his father, he had convinced him to allow him to marry you. he couldn’t bear the thought of losing you to another prince, much less be married off to some princess that wasn’t you.
asking for your father’s permission wasn’t as hard as sunoo assumed it was; your father knew how much you loved sunoo, and being married to a prince like him guaranteed your endless happiness, which is the one thing he wanted.
that night, sunoo made sure that everything was to his standards — the perfect meal was prepped and lanterns were hung on anything that could possibly hold the lanterns. a beautiful silk blanket rested on the floor of the ruin, emulating a picnic blanket, your favorite treats lined and a basket full of food on top of it.
your maids helped you choose your best dress, well aware of the plan the young prince had. you, on the other hand, were oblivious to what was happening, under the assumption it was another family dinner that was set up out of the blue.
modeling the most magnificent dress in your closet, your father had walked you down to the spot sunoo shared with him. in a way, he wasn’t ready to marry off his only daughter, but knowing you were to be proposed to by the one prince he truly respects, his qualms were slowly dying down.
nothing could have prepared you for the dream-like setting, and nothing could have prepared you for how handsome sunoo looked.
your night was filled with laughter and food, sunoo gladly feeding you your favorite sweets. it was truly the most blissful night you experienced, but it would only become more precious as the night carried one.
as the sunset across the horizon and the two of you packed to head back to your castle, hoping to make it before night grew. to your astonishment the beloved prince got down on one knee, revealing the ring he had gotten, customized to your liking. it caused you to halt your movements, admiring how gorgeous it was, the ring glittering in the moonlight.
so many emotions crashed onto you; joy, surprise, but most importantly — love.
your love for him was stronger than any other force, and it only took this long for you to figure out how much you were truly enamored by him. the little things he did always brought you butterflies, and though at the time it didn’t make sense, it did now. you loved him like you loved no other.
and who were you to say no to prince sunoo?
delighted by the surprise, you nodded, holding your hand out for the prince. he gracefully slipped the ring onto your ring finger, kissing your hand then after. the gesture made you blush, to which he smiled triumphantly.
swiftly, he got up and pulled you towards him, his hands moving to rest gently on your waist.
“may i kiss you?” he would ask in a whisper, to which you nodded in response.
his cushion-like lips met yours, capturing them in a sweet kiss.
what a perfect way to end the night.
with a yawn, you closed the story book in your hands and perched it on your bedside table. your droopy eyes couldn’t stop themselves from fluttering shut as you brought your blanket to your chin, nuzzling into it.
as you drifted into a soft slumber, your mind replayed the scenes in the story book, a warm smile on your face as you dreamt of a prince just like the one in the fairytale.

I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU, KIM SEONWOO.
pairing kim seonwoo + reader.
genre fluff.
summary you’re feeling extremely under the weather, and you’re also the only person sunoo can deal with for longer than an hour.
word count 0.6k
warnings apart from some sickness, all good
an i don’t usually read anything for sunoo but he’s such a sweet boy and deserves so much more appreciation than he gets :(
You're sure your body is beginning to overheat at this point. All day, your temperature has been through the roof and you can barely bring yourself to lift your body from your bed.
Dramatically, you had been moving positions every five minutes; lying on your back, sprawling out, curled up into a ball — but none of them were able to subdue the pain that you were feeling.
When you hear a knock on your door, you sigh and wrap yourself deeper into the duvet. Today was not the day for visitors and you had no planned arrivals, so you imagined it was nothing important. The door goes again, though you continue to ignore it due to how weak you were feeling, the aches in your body would only worsen if you decided to stand up.
Then, your phone rings.
"Hello..." Your voice cracks through the phone since you had hardly said a word all day, causing you to cringe at yourself. You hadn't even looked at the called ID, so you had hoped it was someone you were close with.
"Why do you never answer your door? I've been waiting for almost five minutes! Are you okay?" Sunoo's voice makes you feel the slightest bit better immediately, even though he's already judging you through the phone.
"I'm sick. Like- really, really sick. I can barely move, sorry for not coming to the door." You let out a small, rough cough, "You have a key, why didn't you just open the door?"
"I left it at the dorms by accident because Jay and Sunghoon were being idiots. I thought I'd come here since I prefer your company over theirs. You should have told me you were sick, I would have brought some medicine and soup." His voice becomes more concerned after learning about your illness.
You shake your head in response despite the face he was unable to see you.
"I don't want you to get sick, Sun. I would have rather you stayed at the dorms and deal with their shit instead." You reply, standing up from your bed with great persistence as you walk towards your mirror.
Sunoo doesn't care what you look like because he'll love you all the same even if you look a mess. Though, you do this for your own dignity, brushing your hair and teeth before you let him in your home.
"I'd much rather be sick with you than spend another minute with them when they've had too much sugar. Now, let me in. I'll look after you until you're feeling better." The softness in his speaking when he diverts the conversation to your sickness makes your heart swell happily.
When you open the door, he pouts at the sight of you. He enters your home, grabbing your hand and pulls you back into your bedroom and makes you get back into your bed. Sunoo doesn't say much, he leaves you in your room and disappears for at least half an hour.
Too tired to check on him, you fall into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, Sunoo is cooking up a storm in your kitchen. He asks Jay for help on a phone call, receiving specific instructions in order to provide the best medicinal soup that was ever made, just for you.
Due to your stuffy nose, you can barely smell so you're still fast asleep when he comes up to your room holding a bowl of freshly made soup. He places it slowly onto the desk table and sits next to you on your bed, hands threading through the hair on your scalp.
He watches the way your chest rises, the slight pout on your pretty lips, and decides he wouldn’t mind letting you sleep for a little while longer.

Home: where comfort greets you at the door
pairing: enha maknae line x fem!reader
genre: fluff...a bit too much of it
warning: they are a bit clingy here hehe<3
about; spending precious time with the precious maknaes of enhypen
..........................................................................................
You attempted to ignore the flood of messages taking up space on your phone screen, all from the younger members of your group chat bombarding you with pleas. Sometimes, their clinginess was overwhelming. A sigh escaped you as a video call request appeared, their desperation evident. If you didn't adore them, you would've blocked their numbers ages ago. "Yah, how dare you be on your phone now," Sunoo scolded. Attempting to explain was futile as complaints continued to pour in. "WOULD YOU GUYS JUST LET ME SPEAK!" you finally shouted desperately into the screen, followed by a mumble of apologies.
As conversation flowed, you continued about your day, not daring to end the call as they practically shrieked at the notion. Carrying your phone to the kitchen, you raided the snack cabinet. Your friends on the other end pouted, stuck in their break with no allowance for sweets.
As the minutes ticked by in eager anticipation, Jay and Jake lent a hand in setting up the space. The coffee table became a mosaic of delectable snacks and a variety of drinks, while twinkling fairy lights adorned the room, adding a touch of enchantment to the atmosphere. With a sense of excitement building, Jay and Jake bid their farewells, extracting a playful promise from you to safeguard the place while they were away. As they exited, a sudden rush interrupted their departure— a towering figure brushed past them, wrapping you in a swift and tight embrace. Jungwon and Sunoo swiftly followed suit, enveloping you in a spontaneous group hug, exchanging warmth and affection in the embrace.
The room buzzed with an electric energy as their presence filled the space, marking the beginning of what promised to be a memorable time together. Ni-ki flung himself onto a beanbag, scooping a handful of popcorn into his mouth.
"Ew, Ni-ki, did you even wash your hands?" Sunoo wrinkled his nose at the boy, who nonchalantly munched on his snack before complying and heading to the sink. You chuckled and joined them, swapping stories about your day. Leaning against the door frame, you hugged your cardigan tighter, admiring your friends with fondness as they enthusiastically told you about the newest plans for their upcoming schedules. “The song is so good, I'll give you a listen when possible.”,Sunoo promised.
Later, everyone changed into matching pajamas; yours coordinated with Jungwon's. The snug sleepwear was embellished with bears, a favorite of yours. You recalled how Jungwon had found it adorable on himself and insisted on getting you a matching set. Sunoo, in full showmanship, posed with his phone, capturing a snapshot of him and Ni-ki proudly displaying their matching outfits. "Which movie should we watch? I can't endure Mean Girls for the hundredth time," Ni-ki slouched into his beanbag as Jungwon settled beside you. "Why not? Hyung! I wanted to sit next to y/nie…" Sunoo pouted, feeling a pang of betrayal from his friend. He even won the rock-paper-scissors match for that spot, a stroke of luck for him.
"We can switch after the first movie," Jungwon giggled, resting his head on your shoulder. Your hand instinctively found its way to his freshly washed hair, fingers threading through the damp strands. Jungwon emitted a contented hum at the gentle massage, snuggling closer to you. Catching sight of the tender moment, Ni-ki turned to Sunoo beside him. "What are you waiting for?"
"I just got a manicure..." Sunoo confessed, earning a playful eye roll from Ni-ki. The room dimmed as the movie paired with the christmas tree in the corner cast a kaleidoscope of colors around. Half-covered under throw blankets, you all embraced the warmth, sinking into a cozy comfort. Out of habit and seeking solace, Ni-ki reached for your hand, intertwining fingers to seek both comfort and additional warmth.. In that serene ambiance, each touch and shared moment seemed to radiate a sense of love and assurance, enveloping everyone in a comforting embrace. You sensed a gentle nudge at your side, glancing down to find Jungwon pointing towards the snack bar, whispering, "Feed me."
Reaching across to the coffee table adorned with an assortment of snacks, your fingers selected a pack of sour gummy worms.
The room echoed with the crinkle of the candy packet as you tore it open, savoring one yourself before complying with Jungwon's request. Another nudge followed, this time from Ni-ki, expressing his desire to be fed too. "Noona, toss it in the air, and I'll catch it with my mouth," the youngest exclaimed. Sunoo, capturing the entire playful moment on camera, cheered as you executed the stunt flawlessly, each throw landing perfectly.
Returning your focus to the movie, you enveloped both boys in a warm embrace, planting a kiss atop each of their heads. Sunoo found himself reclined on the floor, his head nestled against your stomach. Seeking closeness, he sighed, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. His eyelids grew heavy, signaling an impending slumber, while the other two remained wide awake, cherishing the fleeting moments, yearning for time to stand still. "Anyone up for some tea? I'm going to make some," Jungwon rose from his spot, prompting a request from Ni-ki for a cup. "Pour me one too, thanks, hyung." With those words, Jungwon disappeared into the kitchen, leaving you in the company of a dozing Sunoo and Ni-ki, who diligently adjusted the blanket to cover Sunoo more snugly. His endearing gesture was followed by a whispered 'cute,' escaping his lips.
As your phone softly chimed for attention, a message from Heeseung appeared, inquiring about life in the dorms. You replied with a swift snapshot of your peacefully sleeping friend cradled in your lap. Setting your phone aside, you delicately traced your fingers through Sunoo's hair, making sure not to disturb his peaceful rest. "Wow, these chocolates are too good! Where did you get them?" Ni-ki managed to mumble between mouthfuls of the delicious treat. With a playful tone, you playfully remarked, "Careful now, no talking with a mouthful, kid!"
The sweet aroma of raspberry tea wafted through the room as Jungwon returned, balancing a tray of steaming cups. Passing you your tea, he cautioned, "Be careful, it's hot."
The tray found its place on the coffee table, and you blew gently on the hot tea, attempting to cool it down. The three of you sat in a serene silence as the movie credits scrolled by. Jungwon's chuckle broke the quietude, prompting a curious glance from you. "Sunoo didn't get to switch places," he chuckled, casting a glance at the slumbering Sunoo cradled in your lap. "You knew he'd fall asleep, didn't you?" Ni-ki grinned mischievously. You playfully swatted him with your free hand, eliciting a groan in response.
