19 for Sunburst
19. are they afraid of death?
Sunburst is afraid not so much of death as of inevitable judgment of the Maker that follows it - even with all his faith and conviction, he’s still a mortal man and is deep down afraid that the path he chose is the wrong one. Equally deep down there is also a faint hope that somehow he’ll manage to figure out the lost secret of elvhen immortality and won’t have to die at all

Sunburst 18!
18. do they have any irrational fears?
He would be hard pressed to admit it, but Sunburst has mild mysophobia - he is very particular about cleanness of his clothes and surroundings, hates hiking, and the inevitable Deep Roads expeditions are his personal punishment from the Maker.

21. what is their biggest regret?
Funny how that ask coincided with my decision to make Sunburst a part of Bleeding Hearts timeline after all :D
At first i wanted to repeat my previous answer - that Sunburst regrets drugging his friend to get into Wardens - but then it hit me
Sunburst's biggest regret is actually not getting to participate in fighting against the Fifth Blight — he spent it with Orlais Wardens waiting on the Ferelden borders, and then got recalled to capital with Julie and a few other Wardens to appear before the empress, only managing to actually arrive to Vigil way after other orlesian Grey Wardens got slaughtered and Hyacinth took over as Warden Commander. Sunburst saw what Blight did to the land, people and even Warden Commander, and wished he could've alleviate at least some of the damage (he might be a pious jerk, but he is not heartless)
And then she also killed the Architect, Sunburst's only hope to find out the origin of darkspawn and truthfulness of Canticle of Threnodies, and Sunburst was left feeling disappointed and unfulfilled, especially after learning that she got to pass through the Temple of Sacred Ashes' gauntlet and witness the remains of Andraste's disciples while he was freezing his arse off on the border

i now belatedly realise - i might have forgotten to actually introduce, like, half of my warden characters outside of brief mentions and tags :.D so to not confuse good people further - here's the other 3 wardens that i think about the most - Merlin Mahariel, Julie Caron and Sunburst Andras aka The French Asshole wish there was a template for orlesian warden in awakening... aaand while i was making this post i suddenly decided to make a super-quick template for Harrier just because. there's also templates for hyacinth, bernard and marinette under cut if you need a quick refreshment
btw there's still an ask game going on in pinned post! feel free to ask me anything about any of my dragon age goofers, i want to talk about them so badly it's kinda embarassing :.....D

pov your choice of ruler is either creepy zealot or barbie movie villain, wgd
finally did those templates for my orlesian wardens, tho i had to mutilate them a bit (i would do the whole thing but i'm not that smart and couldn't decide what choicws would reflect the warden's character the most)
so if we go by main story beats, it would look kinda like that:
sunburst recruits anders from the get-go; julie lets him go first
sunburst learns of the plot from ser tamra and goes to dark wolf about it; julie has anders tell her about his suspicions and goes to invite nobles' relatives to the vigil
both recruit nataniel
both recruit sigrun
julie recruits velanna; sunburst has her executed
sunburst takes justice in; julie asks them to leave
sunburst defends the vigil; julie stays in amaranthine
sunburst allies with the achitect; julie kills him
if you want to know more there's an ask game still going on - check out the pinned post!

@vaguely-concerned Part 5 (the final one), Sunburst Andraste
10. Do they have any regrets?
Very little - Sunburst believes most of his life being shaped and guided by the Maker and so considers it unfaithful to doubt His intent. There is one thing, however - when Sunburst was still in the circle and Grey Wardens came to recruit new mage into their ranks, Sunburst was desperate to seize the opportunity - he knew the templars suspected him a maleficar and wouldn’t grant him any mercy when they would catch him. But amongst his competitors was one especially dangerous to his plans - Elyon Andras, fellow enchanter and namesake, skilled in elemental and spiritual magic, while Sunburst dedicated himself to creation, spirit healing and (secretly) blood magic. Sunburst spent his night in preparations for the fateful day and prayers, but doubt and fear kept gnawing at him - and so on the day they were supposed to demonstrate their skills he spiked Elyon’s food with magebane. ELyon was unable to perform at his full power and Sunburst was chosen as a recruit.
However, later he learned that Wardens were aware of his blood magic endeavors and decided to recruit him from the get-go, only going with the whole testing thing for the sake of formality. Sunburst was ashamed and guilt stricken - not only he ruined his colleague reputation, he doubted Maker’s will and divine providence, letting his faith be weakened by inconsequential doubts. Despite numerous prayers, repentance in self-immolation and meditations, regret and shame still linger in his mind as a eternal reminder of his weakness and importance of the faith.
13. Do they enjoy poetry?
Well, he does know the whole of Chant (including the Dissonant verses and regional varitions) by heart :.D But even apart from that, yes, he does. He considers the physical body and its ability to speak Maker’s gift, and so an art of poetry for him is an exercise in admiring and praising Maker’s work - as long as the contents are of according quality. But since his fellows (Julie Karon and Taras Cader in particular) enjoy teasing him about literally everything, he keeps his admiration very close to his chest.
37. Are they religious? If so do they have a strong sense of faith, are they uncertain, or are they somewhere in between?
Hoo boy… :.D Sunburst is an even more devoted son of a devoted mother, so faithful it’s hard to believe he isn’t literally possessed by Faith. However, he explicitly believes in Maker and Andraste but not in the Chantry, finding their pretense for absolute authority over Maker’s dealings ridiculously self-righteous. He is intimately familiar with Chantry’s history, just as with the history of Chant of Light creation and permutations during centuries of its existence. From one point of view it allows him to keep his faith in check and not turn to zealotry, from another - it's a convenient excuse to partake in heresy and blasphemy while pretending to be loyal to the faith. Still aside from his blood magic excursions and whatever the Warden duties require, he follows the teachings ardently, doesn’t miss a single holy day or fast, sometimes subsiding entirely on taint in his blood (and occasional elfroot cigarillos - it’s not easy to keep mind calm and focused with his teammates)
44. Who, if anyone, would they trust with their deepest secrets?
The Maker. He appreciates and even trusts his comrades, but innermost corners of his soul are for Makers eyes only (Andraste can also take a look if she so pleases).
46. Would they lie to get out of trouble?
He considers lies disgraceful affront to the Maker, but can’t exactly keep going without keeping some secrets - so as much as he does not enjoy it, Sunburst prefers to lie by omission.
aaand that's it! thank you dearly for the ask, i had a blast writing all of that <3

50. What is your favorite thing about them?
He's so fucking funny to think about. :.D He's so sincere in his beliefs but also such a moody jerk. He puls his "um, actually" card every time he speaks with andrastian clergy. He experimented on his comrades and they were really into that. He wishes he was the one to discover the Temple of Sacred Ashes soooo badly. He would fuck Andraste if she asked.
Aaand that's it for this batch! Once again thank you dearly for asking, I had so much fun thinking about those little guys (gender-neutral)

For the OCs questions meme: Harrier Hawke 1, 2, 16, 18, 27! Hyacinth Surana 15, 20, 35, 38! Bernard Amell 10, 12, 32, 19, 44! Marinette Hawke 5, 8, 39, 37, 50! Sunburst Andras (my favorite French asshole <3) 10, 44, 13, 37, 46! Also one of the questions speaks to you more for another character than the one I assigned it to, feel free to answer for them instead haha :D
wow, what a delightful request :D the only problem is that it turned out too long, so i hope you don't mind me posting it in parts by character. anyway, behold: Part 1, Harrier Hawke
1. Do they have any crafting hobbies?
No, not really - while Harrier inevitably picked up plenty of useful skills during his life, none of them interested him outside of their immediate purpose. His cool cousin Bernard, however, has one - following his and Determination’s fascinations with bones they occasionally delve into bone carving and/or squishing Harrowhark-Nonagesimus-style (and yes, he did make a little boner charm once)
2. Do they wear perfume/cologne? If so what scents do they prefer?
Not initially - until act 2 Harrier has very little money/desire to - he considers just being clean enough and would rather have to deal with just sweat then sweat mixed with some cheap shitty thing. During and after act 2 however he starts to use ever stronger flower/herb scented perfume to somewhat hide the smell of healing ointments he uses more and more for his arms (would be stupid to out yourself as a bloodmage just after settling down somewhat) and also cause it’s a thing that rich people do; and since Harrier is also rich now -  why go against the current? esp when it’s nice stuff and not whatever Red Irons were bathing in (and drinking occasionally)
16. Do they have or want kids?
Before and during act 2 he entertained the thought occasionally, a bit more often after reclaiming the estate - Leandra did talk plenty about him getting married and settling the Amell-Hawke family back in Kirkwall (even tho after twins’ deaths Harrier seriously doubted his ability to take care of anyone, not mentioning actual children). After Leandra’s death tho he drops it completely - he never says it aloud but he seriously afraid that his family is somehow doomed to die terrible unnatural deaths, so he is scared to call or even think about anyone as family (even tho he considers Anders and Merrill part of it)
18. How easy is it to become their enemy?
Easier than it seems, harder than it should be - he simultaneously looks like the kind of funnyguy who doesn’t hold grudges (he absolutely does) and while he’s way of plenty of people he usually waits till the very last moment to decide that he hates someone and considers them his enemy (he is a charmer at heart and tries his damn best to not get things to open confrontation. his best isn’t very good but still) So in the end it’s pretty tricky to figure if he is still in jokey-neutral stance with you or he’s already tipped into animosity.
27. Has a chance encounter ever had an unexpected effect on them?
Once upon a time when Harrier had not developed his magic yet some wandering minstrel passed through one of many settlements of Ferelden and stayed at the local tavern, agreeing to play through the evening to cover a bit of the room’s price. Same day Hawkes were passing nearby and risked staying at the tavern to pass the cold and stormy night. Malcolm and Harrier went down to the common to get their food room while Leandra stayed in the room with twins - and so little Harrier witnessed surprisingly soulful rendition of Dane and the Werewolf - or at least that little bit of it he managed to listen in while Malcolm picked up and payed for food. Even after going back to their room Harrier tried to hear a bit more, plastered with his ear against the wall (Leandra made him to bed eventually - with great effort) And so was born Harrier’s lifelong dream - to become a minstrel himself and captivate people with a chord and a word. He got the chance to actually pursue it somehow only by act 2, when he actually got money and time for a tutor.
