"I really thought that if we applied your sunscreen three times, you finally wouldn't get burnt..." I sigh in disappointment as I rummage through the kitchen drawers for some aloe to relieve Julian's scorched red skin. I can hear him try and get comfortable on his chair in between all his pained and uncomfortable winces. I wince myself when I notice that I can't find the jar of aloe where it's supposed to be.
I turn around to face his miserable self and click my tongue awkwardly "...I'm afraid we're out of aloe. But I can make a quick trip to get some. Maybe I could buy you one of those big sun hats while I'm at it..." I already start heading for the way out before Julian perks up and grabs my hand.
"Didn't we buy yogurt yesterday?"
"We... We did. Do you want some now...?"
I observe as he gets up from his seat and goes right for the small cooler under one of the kitchen drawers. He pulls out the yogurt container and sinks his hand into it as if it's the most normal thing in the world.
"What are you doing..."
"What do you mean? I'm treating my burns." he says with a relieved smile and scoops up a dollop of yogurt before starting to spread it across his face an neck. I can only watch with an uneasy expression and a hand over my shocked mouth.
He notices my distress only after having spread the yogurt halfway down his chest "...It's a folk remedy. I forgot you might not be familiar with it."
"Ah... You're telling me that you used to walk around Nevivon covered in yogurt?"
"On some days! Though I often had to be stopped from licking it all off before it did its job." he laughs and licks the cool yogurt off of his palm with gusto.
I squirm internally as I watch him do that.
"Do you want me to sprinkle you with berries too?" I ask him with a sarcastic scowl.
"Now that you say it... I am getting a little hungry." he answers with a proud grin.

the untouchable
Tumblr media
The original makes an odd coloring mistake on page one, I suppose because plot-wise (such plot there is) Betty is not supposed to notice the sunburn. Following this, Archie gets his sunburn. In the original, though not in the reprint.

The last panel is a tad curious.

The Incredible Benefits of Guava Leaves for Skin Care
In recent years, the world has turned its attention toward natural remedies, and one such treasure trove of benefits comes from guava leaves. While guava fruit is often celebrated for its nutritional value, the leaves hold a plethora of skincare benefits that can elevate your beauty routine. In this blog, we’ll explore the remarkable benefits of guava leaves for skin care, why you should consider incorporating them into your regimen, and how to use them effectively.
Nutrient-Rich Composition
Guava leaves are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that contribute significantly to skin health. They contain vitamins A, C, and E, which are essential for maintaining skin elasticity and preventing premature aging. Additionally, guava leaves boast high levels of flavonoids and tannins, which have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. This unique composition makes guava leaves a powerhouse for skin care.
Anti-Aging Properties
One of the standout benefits of guava leaves is their anti-aging effect. The antioxidants present in these leaves help combat free radicals, which are responsible for skin damage and aging. Regular application of guava leaf extract can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, promoting a youthful appearance. The vitamins in guava leaves also help in the production of collagen, which is crucial for maintaining skin firmness.
Treating Acne and Blemishes
If you're struggling with acne, guava leaves can be a game changer. Their antimicrobial properties help to eliminate bacteria that cause acne, while their anti-inflammatory effects reduce redness and swelling. To harness these benefits, you can create a simple guava leaf paste by boiling the leaves and grinding them into a paste. Applying this to affected areas can help soothe your skin and diminish acne over time.
Soothing Sunburns
The summer sun can take a toll on your skin, leading to painful sunburns. Guava leaves can provide relief from these effects. They possess cooling properties that soothe irritated skin and reduce inflammation. By making a guava leaf infusion and applying it to sunburned areas, you can alleviate discomfort and promote faster healing.
Promoting Even Skin Tone
Dark spots and uneven skin tone can be a source of frustration for many. Guava leaves can help lighten these spots due to their natural astringent properties, which tighten the skin and reduce excess oil production. The antioxidants also assist in fading pigmentation over time, leading to a more even complexion. For best results, consider using guava leaf extract in your daily skincare routine.
Natural Exfoliation
Exfoliation is crucial for maintaining healthy skin, and guava leaves can serve as a gentle exfoliant. They contain enzymes that help slough off dead skin cells without being harsh on the skin. Regular exfoliation with guava leaf paste can reveal fresher, more radiant skin underneath. Incorporating this into your routine once a week can make a noticeable difference.
Hydration and Moisture Retention
Another of the many benefits of guava leaves is their ability to hydrate the skin. They contain compounds that help lock in moisture, preventing dryness and maintaining a healthy glow. For those with dry skin, using guava leaf-infused water as a toner can enhance hydration levels and keep your skin plump and youthful.
How to Use Guava Leaves for Skin Care
Now that you’re aware of the impressive benefits of guava leaves, here’s how you can easily incorporate them into your skincare routine:
1. Guava Leaf Tea
Brew guava leaves in boiling water to create a tea. Allow it to cool, then use it as a toner to refresh and hydrate your skin.
2. Guava Leaf Paste
Boil a handful of guava leaves in water, then blend them into a paste. Apply this paste to your face or areas affected by acne, leave it on for 20 minutes, and rinse off with lukewarm water.
3. Guava Leaf Infusion
Infuse guava leaves in oil (like coconut or olive oil) for a few weeks. Strain the oil and use it as a moisturizer to nourish and hydrate your skin.
4. Guava Leaf Scrub
Mix ground guava leaves with sugar or oatmeal to create a natural exfoliating scrub. Use this once a week to keep your skin smooth and radiant.
Conclusion
The benefits of guava leaves for skin care are vast and varied. From anti-aging effects to treating acne, soothing sunburns, and promoting even skin tone, guava leaves deserve a place in your beauty arsenal. With their natural properties and nutrient-rich composition, guava leaves offer a holistic approach to skincare that is both effective and gentle on the skin. So, why not give guava leaves a try and unlock their potential for achieving radiant, healthy skin?

Hii! So I’m like so very sunburnt rn and I it’s my fault for not putting sunscreen on🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m in so much pain rn my whole body hurts and it hurts to move I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep with anything on that’s how bad I’m burnt☹️ and I feel like I need a big strong man (Simon) to baby me and take care of me.
Feel free to ignore this. But I love your writing🫶🏼
Poor thing, being sunburnt is the absolute worst! I have been there before and learned my lesson the hard way. I hope you're better.💓
Tumblr media
Upon arriving at the beach, Simon warned you to wear sunscreen, but your eagerness got the better of you. His intuition told him that the scorching sun wouldn't be forgiving on your skin, and sure enough, he was right.
By the time you're back home, you are incredibly sunburnt. Your body feels like it's been rubbed raw, and every step is an agonizing pinch of pain; worst of all, not even a cold shower could quell the screams of your damaged skin. Wearing clothes was entirely out of the question, leaving you to walk around naked with only your loose bathrobe as decent cover.
Your whines draw Simon's attention while he's cleaning out sand from the back of his truck. In an instant, the task is forgotten, and he's by your side.
"Told you to wear sunscreen." Simon chides lovingly. He brushes your robe down carefully to inspect your skin, a cautious hand reaches out to touch on your bare back but quickly retreating when you whimper.
"I know..."
Simon sighs, and for a moment, he steps back, thinking of ways to help, his mind trickling back to ways he'd been in full-body pain.
Simon, being himself, disappears without a word, only the sound of him rummaging through your shared home, giving you a clue to his activities. Soon, you hear the bath running and head to your bathroom, where you spot Simon, half-naked, hunched over the tub, filling it with baking soda.
His broad back is facing you, muscles rippling and flexing when he moved. You see old scars litter his skin, deciding not to pay attention to the new ones you gave him a night prior.
"I already tried showering."
Simon grunts in response, shaking his head. "Ain't good 'nuff."
Standing to his full height, Simon carefully takes you by the waist, helping you undress, and tenderly guides you into the cool bath.
As you sit down in the tub, you feel that the water's temperate was just right, not too cold and not too hot, ensuring your skin wouldn't be irritated, a touch only someone as attentive as Simon would be capable of.
A content sigh leaves your lips and just when you thought that was the end of Simon's care, he surprises you.
Simon climbs behind you, delicately placing your back against his chest, though no matter how gentle, just the skin contact alone makes you bite back a sob.
"I know, I know, love. I got you." Simon cooes in your ear huskily. One hand holds you in place by the waist, and the other reaches over, grabbing the bottle of aloe vera gel, a remedy he keeps close after Gaz recommended it to him because why not?
Simon lets you go, opening up the bottle and rubbing the chilled ointment on his palms earnestly.
His hands make contact with your skin, and you squeal, the unexpected cold, slimy sensation causing you to shiver. Simon places a chaste kiss on the back of your neck in an attempt to distract you; he rubs the gel on your back methodically, guaranteeing full coverage.
In mere seconds, the aloe vera works wonders; your skin itches with an icy burn that counters the throb of your sunburn. You press yourself closer to Simon, allowing him to cover you thoroughly in the healing salve.
While Simon cares for you, his face is inches away from yours, praises fill your head. "You're doing so well, Dove."
Soon, your sunburn is a thing of the past. Simon leaves you unable to focus on anything besides the attentive work of his hands and butterflies whirling in your stomach due to his words.
"How do you feel?" He asks sweetly, pausing to gauge your reaction.
You nod weakly, head laid back on his shoulder, too engrossed in his ministrations to respond verbally.
♡! Happy fourth of July. I had trouble writing this bc my brain uses the words, "as" and "while" alot but I still like the way this turned out. 💞
Seeing the content look on your face, Simon gives your lips a quick peck, stroking your shoulders affectionately. Sunburnt or not, you'd still be his doll and he'd be damned if he didn't take good care of you.

Basically, sunburn is caused by prolonged and intense exposure to those harmful ultraviolet rays coming from the sun. It is said that these radiations in the form of UV rays cause burns on the skin by killing a few cells in the process. Actually, cell death triggers your immune system response which further leaves you with sunburn’s visible symptoms.

So I was reading this transcript of an interview the Kratt brothers did and at one point Martin talks about how he almost became a veterinarian, but ended up changing his mind and becoming a zoologist.... so I raise you.... TEAM MEDIC MARTIN?????
Bro carries around a slew of random medical supplies on him at all times. (Just like the creature power disks nobody understands how he can remember where everything is but he's always handy with exactly what he needs)
Chris skins his knees climbing up a cliff? Martin's got bandages and antibacterial spray.
Koki burns her hand while tuning up the Tortuga? He's got burn cream and a cool towel and making sure she compresses it for at least 10 minutes
and God forbid someone in the Tortuga so much as SNIFFLES in his presence. It's bed rest, soup, and fluids from there.
And beyond that, I think he'd be very knowledgeable about natural remedies too. They ran out of cooling ointment for their sunburns? its okay, they can use the aloe vera plant sitting in the window! Aviva is nauseous because she's had nothing but redbull and coffee for 2 days? peppermint oil and ginger tea!
Just like how they learned from the Orangutans about the leaves that relieve muscle sores, Martin would pull a lot of inspiration from nature's remedies.

"Sting Fling"
Tumblr media
The origins of the phrase "tossed salad" as crude sexual term are obscured and indefinite -- but I am guessing it was coming into the vernacular at the time Al Hartley turned in this story about Betty covering Ethel in Vinegar and Jughead getting horny by the smell. Imagine how he'd feel if he learned the freaky alternate meaning!

Good morning Amity Park, I'm your ghostly weatherman, Lance Thunder. Today's Friday, May 24, and there’s a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms. Highs are in the mid eighties, and the lows are in the mid sixties.
A humanoid ghost which emits a strange amount of light gave multiple people sunburns yesterday before he was captured by Jack and Madeline Fenton. The Fentons intend to make a remedy for the ghostly sunburns.
On Monday, the traveling carnival will be leaving Amity Park, so this weekend is your last chance to visit until next year.
The Fentons will likely not be driving today.

I think Amy should be witchy. I think she should read tarot cards and collect ethically sourced crystals (she beats CEOs of an unethical crystal mining company to death) and make herbal remedies for her friends (for colds or sunburns, not actual medical treatment of course. She beats antivaxxers to death on the weekends also). She has a cute little altar in her home and she and people who know her well leave flowers on it for good luck.
You ask her if she's ever cast any spells and she looks at you and laughs. Half of her spellbook is just spells for jinxing and cursing Eggman. The other half is dedicated to protecting her friends. Her spellbook is a cutesy hand-embroidered journal she keeps in her bedroom on her windowsill that you wouldn't think twice about.
She and Knuckles like discussing spirituality together. They like inviting each other to each other's rituals. He sends her pretty minerals that he finds on Angel island and she sends back herbs that his people once had access to when Angel island wasn't, well, an island.
Witchy Amy.
