Kiawe likes to train with you often, as he’s always looking to improve. If you can give good advice on how to get stronger he’d appreciate that as well. Being a champion grants you not only tons of money and luxury but also lotsa responsibility, because of this he’s very understanding when your often busy with Pokémon battles or ultra beast troubles. Secretly though he’s a clingy guy, so give him some good loving once you’re done.

Oh yes ofc I’d love to, but I do have some things I’m confused on… I love Kiawe don’t get me wrong he’s like, my favorite SuMo character. I actually agonized over listing him a lot.

Playing SuMo I always thought Kiawe was an adult, like early college years (kind of what I think about Arven now) somewhere between 19-22ish, but I feel like the anime complicated things. I haven’t watched any of it beyond the indigo league but I know they go to some kind of school which confuses things a bit for me? And from what I’ve seen the school isn’t like the academy in scarvi where it’s very apparently all (and I mean ALL) ages. Like according to the anime they feel younger, and Pokemon character ages are always so ambiguous which makes things a bit complex for me. Like for example I always thought Brock was like a straight up adult but he’s actually 15????

Online generally people seem to view Kiawe as an adult character, at least 18, but what do y’all think? I’m just playing it cautious ig, Pokemon is like peak deceptive age on their characters, male ones especially so I hesitated on him despite my love for him. (Clemont is also in this weird gray area rn.) Even if I’m purely sfw I’m NOT writing x reader stuff for characters who are minors. But the Pokemon franchise seldom gives out actual upfront ages of their characters.

But I like Kiawe as a character and he personally feels like a young adult to me, but what do you guys think? I think I’d like some second opinions on it. :)

Kiawe with a Gn!S/O who's Short and Sarcastic HCs

- You guys make a great pair! Though Kiawe isn’t the friendliest guy upon first meeting him, he’s actually super sweet and kind when you get to know him! Your wittiness drew him to you, and you’re sort of like sugar and spice!

- Okay so… he might flex his height on you just a bit. I imagine him being decently tall (5’11-6’2) range (though this is only an opinion ofc!), but it’s always super playful! Find ways to flex your height on him and he’ll call it a draw lol.

- Absolute king of piggyback rides! His position as a Trial Captain plus the work he does on his family’s farm make it so he’s super strong, and carrying you is something he can do with much ease! He tends to lift you higher onto his shoulders if you say anything sarcastic, though you’re both laughing and sometimes have even toppled over together into the grass because of this.

- Since Kiawe also likes to take you out a lot with him when he’s doing any deliveries with his Charizard, and you and the Pokemon grow close because of this! Charizard is also kind of like you personality-wise, so you two team up sometimes and tease Kiawe together! Lovingly, of course!

- Did I mention his family loves you? Because oh yeah, they love you! They will tell you all of his embarrassing kid stories when you stay for dinner, much to his crimson-faced dismay. And when you make a comment everyone will burst out laughing!

- All in all, you two are a great match! Kiawe may be a serious gay, but he will always just laugh and melt at your comments. Also, he finds your height adorable and will dote on you because of it every chance he gets.

Kiawe: 

You two are just chilling on the couch or something, watching tv, your legs are probably in his lap or vice versa

He was asking you about the gym challenges , genuinely curious because so far Alola only had the Island Trials

You say something along the lines of “It was a lot of fun, and a really good way to get stronger with your pokemon, but being champion was a lot more work that I expected, it’s hard to keep up with”

He’d agree, “yeah, it sounds really hard, almost like being a kahu- WAIT YOU WERE CHAMPION???”

Certified Kiawe Voice Squeak Moment

His eyes would get really big and his mouth would hang open until you asked him, “I never told you?? I thought I did”

“No you never told me!!! How could you not tell me something like that!!”

You’d probably get scared that he was going to get mad

Kiawe would not be mad!! Maybe a little salty he didn’t know sooner but he’d squish you in a BIG HUG and “No wonder you always beat me in pokemon battles!”

Would definitely make jokes and tease you about it

“Well, if you were the Champion of (whatever region), why can’t you open that jar by yourself?”

But overall he’d really admire your determination and strength!!

Gladion:

The two of y’all laying in some grass watching clouds or smth

“Maybe I’ll just move to a different region and do the gym challenges,” Gladion suggests, he does this like every other day

You tell him you could go with him and be his super strong, super cute rival (girl/boy)friend/ s/o

“Yeah, honestly I don’t think I would have been able to win champion if it wasn’t for my rival! They were always pushing me to be better!”

“You were champion?? I knew you were strong, but wow, you must be strong.” Gladion is flabbergasted but keeps his cool

Gladion would be a little hurt that you didn’t tell him sooner, but he’d understand when you told him you wanted a fresh start, you didn’t want people making a big fuss over it, so you didn’t make a big deal of telling people

He would be very impressed and he’d make sure you knew it

Gladion would be a little off for the next day or two, just because he was still in shock, and kind of in awe

He’d ask to battle/ train with you a lot more frequently so he can get stronger !

Guzma:

“Do you think I could be a gym leader or something?” Guzma would ask you

“Nah, screw that, I’d go be champion” Guzma is really cocky

“Guzma, you know it’s really hard to be champion, right?”

“Yeah, but don’t you think I could do it?” Guzma quirks his eyebrow up and its super cute

“You could practice battling with me!” you suggest

“Ay, babe, you’re strong and all but probably not Champion strong, yaknow.” little does guzmA KNOW

“Bitch, I was the champion???” He blinks once. Twice. 

“Oh, then I’d have no problem beating all them punks,” he gives you his stupid smirk

“You haven’t even beaten me once?????”

All jokes aside, Guzma would kiss you and tell you how proud he was of you

the moment you say “i love you” to kukui, his whole face lights up. he cracks the biggest smile and picks you up, spinning you around and laughing, a bit relieved that you said it first. he places a quick kiss on your cheek, and for a moment you both feel like teenagers again, experiencing love for the first time. “pinch me if it’s a dream, cousin! you’ve made me the luckiest man in alola -- no, the whole world!”

guzma is taken a bit more off guard. he’s very bad with his emotions (working to get better), and was probably in denial about liking you in the first place. but, as soon as he sees you, blushing a bit and meeting his eyes with a hopeful expression, it hits him like a truck. he flushes and looks away. “ah shit, guess i’m kinda stupid after all, not havin’ noticed how i felt about ya. i... love ya too, okay? d-don’t make me say it again.”

dulse, of course, is new to experiencing emotions as humans feel them. he would never pick up on the signs that you had deeper feelings for him, until you tell him flatly to his face. he is taken aback, quiet for a moment as he processes what just happened in his mind.  “my heart is racing... i feel... sweaty and light. ah, this must be what you humans call love, correct? i must study this more... if you would allow me.”

nanu feels like he might have a heart attack. he felt he was too old for love, which is why he pushed all the confusing feelings he had about you to the back of his mind. you making the first move made him feel more secure in his emotions, as he finally breathes a sigh of relief. maybe, he realizes, it’s okay for him to be a bit selfish. “you would really go for an old man like me? tch, you’re as stupid as i thought, kid. well... i guess i’m a fool too, because i feel the same.”

poor kiawe’s whole body heats up, he’s used to the heat of his trial, but of a love confession? he quickly loses his cool, stuttering and blushing as he grabs your shoulders and starts yelling out: “y-you really love me? i’m... so happy... sorry i’m being a little awkward but... this hasn’t happened to me before so... just know that i love you too.”

gladion is quite shy, turning a million shades of red and almost jumping out of his skin. he tells you not to tease him like that, and you have to reassure him many times that you’re not kidding! after it finally sinks in, he’d laugh a little bit, a real smile gracing his features. “i’ve been meaning to tell you for the longest time thank you for everything you’ve done for me... this is embarrassing... but... i like you too.”

the usually excited, happy hau somehow looks like he has stars in his eyes when you nervously confess to him. he grabs your hands and gives you a big hug. “this definitely beats the day i became kahuna... and when i was champion for an hour! i think we should go out for malasadas to celebrate! oh, and of course, i love you too!”

Kiawe doesn’t mind the clinginess but would rather you not cling during Pokémon matches. Other than that it’s free game, he’s secretly a bit clingy himself even if he’ll never admit it.

Hau is very clingy too, when the two of you separate it’s the end of the world and he’s crying his eyes out about it (he’s very dramatic). Unless it’s genuinely serious.

Guzma is secretly clingy too, so likes the clinginess. It gives him an excuse to constantly have an arm around you and you can’t tease him for it, even if you do he says “it’s for you, got nothin to do with me”

Guzma thinks it’s neat! He takes more of an interest in those kinda Pokémon because of you. Bug types will always be number one in his eyes, but he can appreciate the badass Pokémon you got on your team.

Kiawe may show off his marowak and turtonator because of your interest in those kinds of Pokémon. He’s happy you seem to have a good hobby that can help you out in Pokémon battles and such in any event.

Guzma is not a fan of most of these things, but for some reason he seems to always have them and gives them to you because he happened to have them. You can’t tell if that’s genuinely the case or if he’s a big softie that went out his way to buy them for you. He’s… a good liar.

Hau is always sure to buy the cutest plushies he can find, even when he may have not brought a lot of money with him that day, and usually his idea of a fun date is taking you out for tea or to get some sweets (and malasadas!)

Kiawe thinks your tastes are cute! He usually tends to get you this piping hot tea. As for other things, not as much. However, he does manage to get you honey for his honey (haha) very often. You may find that the dork gets you a pikachu plushie. It has two pikachus holding a heart =)

General Kiawe Dating HCs!

- He definitely strikes me as the type to take you all over the Alola region! Everyday is never boring because he’ll offer to take you soaring up in the sky with Charizard!

- Oh, and while I mention Charizard, you two are super close too! You are with all his Pokemon, but Charizard especially since it spends so much time outside it’s pokeball. You two pull pranks on him, but it’s always in good fun!

- Malasada dates? Malasada dates. Also he loves taking you on hikes up Wela Volcano and bringing you home for dinner! His folks own a small ranch of their own in Paniola town, so you’re close with his Tauros too!

- If you’re taking the island challenge, then he’s more than supportive of you and will celebrate with you if you earn a new Z-Crystal! If you’re not taking it, or did and gave up on it, that’s alright too! To him, it may be a solid tradition in Alola, but it doesn’t determine how strong you are as a trainer and person.

- Though either way, he’d love it it you helped him with his trial! He knows you’re a strong person, so helping him train that Salazzle would be great!

- In the end, you two definitely suit each other really well! Kiawe’s always got some sort of mysterious or fun date planned, and he loves spending his days with you!

- One of his favorite things to do is take you for rides with his Charizard! Up there, the flying type Pokemon can follow you with ease, and watching them soar by is breathtaking!
