I love thunderstorms. I live for summer prairie thunderstorms. There is just nothing like them. And since Charlie died, we have had quite a few. Perhaps he sent them as a comfort to me. And they are comforting - I love nothing better, weather-wise. As a child, I would stand outside and watch the storm come in with my dad. Until my mom dragged me in because she couldn’t stand it anymore. But now, I’m the adult - so no one drags me inside. Instead, my husband and I chase storms 😊 The day after Charlie died, in the evening, a massive thunderstorm passed by. It had some of the best lightning I’ve ever seen (this summer has been great for lightning.) The storm had every type of lightning and it went off like flashbulbs. Constantly. We sat in our car on a country road and watched it. The best show. And grieved for Charlie. And it was almost healing in a way. These videos were taken last week, all of the same storm. We drove out in the country and watched it come in. It’s powerful and beautiful and exciting. And temporarily, when the wind picks up, lightning flashes, and the thunder rumbles, it chases some of the sorrow away. Prairie storms are a beautiful thing.
