#LifenigmaCafe Vol. 2 - Fruits in Ice Cream

So it came to that point again when I can’t comprehend what just happened. It seems like time flew by so fast and nothing really transpired, nothing I did had become that fruitful. I mean, you know, at least other than just attending certain occasions and socialize (in person) like how a normal person should do. But I think I’m not as normal as how it should be because I love having time alone. I have learned to love it so much that I guess if I don’t get to sit down (or lie on my bed) and be on my own bubble for an entire day, just listening to music, or engrossing myself reading a book or maybe write my thoughts out, I feel like I haven’t done so much to make myself satisfyingly contentedly happy.

Thank God, though, because before these all uncertainties occurred to me, and apparently the month of February ended (that was a very fast month by the way! wooah!), I’ve got to visit a café! So rather than moping around and ranting over how desperate I am now to have my ‘alone time’, I’ll just share with you all what kind of experience I (and mah biatch had in the café last February 12, 2016.

Finding out about this café was so unexpected, and surprisingly very fast from the last time I visited one.

Anyway, before I continue with how I found out about this place, I’ll let you know first what a café is. Because maybe you are confused why this place become one (without the word café in its sign board). So, basically a café based on Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is usually a small and informal establishment serving various refreshments (as coffee); broadly. And based on Cambridge Dictionaries online, a café is a ​restaurant where ​simple and usually ​quite ​cheap ​meals are ​served (British)/ a ​small ​restaurant where ​simple ​meals and ​drinks are ​served (English). So to put it definitively, a café isn’t just a place where you can drink your daily dose of coffee; it’s a small place where you can hangout briefly with anything you want to eat or do that could be served within a short period of time.

My cousins that I went with on my last entry on this café visit thing I’m doing were the ones I was with when I spotted this place. And it was also on the same day we went to Bread Time that I had a site of this orange lil place hiding on a restaurant’s corner, concealed by a giant tree and the cars that were parked in front of it during that afternoon.

Perhaps you guys are wondering how on earth I spotted the cutie patootie shop when it’s merely visible. So, we were just walking on our way home that day that’s why. We didn’t use a car to visit Bread Time, because well, duh, no one would drive. LOL. Yes, I am of age already but I couldn’t drive soo yeah.. and my company were minors so yes again. Haha. Just that we were walking, and it was like only less than a hundred steps from the said café we had visited when I saw the word café on the following sign boards posted along the way.

I planned on visiting Fruits in Ice Cream (Summer Café) when I had in mind to tone down my dose of the city life. I mean, it’s not like I do a lot here in the city but, since I don’t really go out to do that much of productive things daily (i.e. school or work) than reading books, planning on what to post on my blog next or just you know, keep planning and planning on what could be nice to happen ahead of time. I phoned mah biatch (she’s my cousin by the way, her name is Michelle and we call her Mitch most of the time but I want to differ so that term was made [she’s ok with it btw in case you’re worrying it offends her]) and asked her when she had free time and could meet me where we could catch up and go home directly to our grandma’s house afterwards. I grew up at my grandparent’s house so I consider it most likely the ‘major home’ of mine, especially when I just want to unwind and relax, my grandparent’s house is always the perfect place for me to go to to have that kind of time I needed.

As always, I researched about the place before going. I was shocked when I learned that the café was a huge name and have been in the business for years already. And not just that, FIC (as how they call themselves in short) also has tons of branches all over the country already and has been exporting overseas. It’s very cool! Aheemmm, excuse the pun! LOL.

Obviously, Fruits in Ice Cream was more likely one of those ice cream parlors. Hence if you’re an ice cream addict or maybe just in the mood for not the usual great tasting ice cream, this place is for you. They offer more than 20 flavors of ice cream, and each scoop of their sorbet would give a glass of milk at the same time. They have yogurts, too and different desserts that would go with, well of course, ice cream. LOL. Anyway, they offer smoothies, too. They have different usual beverages in can like the sodas and stuff.

The place was actually very cool because the summer vibe was really filling the entire vicinity. Which I think is a great thing since the heat of the summer season could be felt already. Its color theme (which was a combination of orange and white) was very cool. One thing because it reminded me of Chuck. (high five if you know that TV series because you are so cool and we’re now officially tight! hahaha). Although mainly because the color combination suits the season of summer that the place was offering to their consumers, claiming their establishment as a Summer Café.

We ordered 5 different flavors of ice cream (Cookies &Cream, Rocky Road, Berry Overload, Pistachio and Melted Milk with Maltesers); only one scoop each because well, it‘s easier to finish all of our orders if they were only in fine generous amount, and we also had their Cookie Dough Bars (Choco Chip and Strawberry) .Together with the ice cream and cookie bars we had, we only got water to balance the sweetness of everything we had to consume. We paid Php 448.00 (more or less $10) for everything. Pretty pricy if you’re not familiar with other ice cream/yogurt shops that are scattered all over the malls and different economic zones in the country. However, if you’ve been to Gelatissimo or BLK 513, you’d know this amount is not so bad for 5 flavors in five different servings. And before I forget, 2 different flavor of lovely cookie dough bars.

I did love everything we tried to be honest and I’d definitely go back for sure and try the other flavors and desserts we didn’t get to try. But what stood out for me, I think was the Rocky Road and Berry Overload. I loved how they used dark Belgian chocolate with the Rocky Road and how I could literally taste and chew the berries on Berry Overload. I love the others too but Cookies & Cream and Pistachio were too common for my taste buds so they were just okay for me. With the Melted Milk with Maltesers though, it’s too sweet for my liking. Although I do love chocolates, I only have certain (super handful) days when I like very sweet things touching my taste buds. And unfortunately it wasn’t that time, but it was really good since you can have the Maltesers in whole and eat them like that with the ice cream.

I hope, though, they would transfer to a much visible place and have a much larger place than just sharing/connecting with a restaurant wherein they could be blocked by the cars parked of the customers from the restaurant. They have lovely location and gorgeous structures on their different branches (lol esp in Boracay!) so I have no doubt that they could also do that here in my town if they want to.

Fruits in Ice Cream is a very awesome place to have a little chitchat with someone over an ice cream and hey probably take selfies too because they have great lighting (winks at you because that’s for sure a plus point? yeah, I know), and they have very nice landscaping outdoor which could be good for those head to toe OOTD photos or just a landscape kind of photo. The place is pretty perfect and a kind of what I can say, could be my turf from time to time. It’s refreshing!

Always remember, you don’t have to push yourself too hard on things you could take a break from. Life is not about how much you’ve done in the society and for other people’s approval. You just have to live life, take a break if you feel like you’re draining of energy, and most especially, always… always find time to make yourself happy. Even in a simple way like relaxing, unwinding, catching up with your cousin you haven’t seen for weeks. You own your life, always remember that and you always have the power to do whatever you want to be happy. One way or another.
