What are your favorite ships from Fire Emblem Awakening? Outside from Chrobin, you seem to like: Vaike x Lissa, Henry x Olivia and Frederick x Sumia. I am currently writing a fanfic about the Shepherds and their life's (During, After, and Before the Plegian war) and some of your videos had somewhat been inspiration on how the character's interact with each other. I was hoping if you could give me some insight.

Gladly! Most of my reasoning are going to be from my own messed up headcanon world and because i am a lunatic, i am going to name like 25% of the Awakening cast because I use like 20 units (most of them being child units and dlc) and never switch them out. So im prolly not gonna be much help

Chrom x Robin - Chrobin had always been my favorite, because of the whole Romeo and Juilet thing goin on with Chrom's Exalt blood and Robin with Grima's blood. Plus i imagine that their kids are the strongest in the whole game due to their genetics. I also imagine Robin is the one who REALLY wears the pants in the relationship (even tho Chrom doesn't want to admit it) But I love the image of the royal family being probably the weirdest bunch out of the entire Ylissean Royal bloodline. With Chrom being a man who can't stop breaking things with his immense strength and doesn't think about things all the way, Robin being the technically only smart and logical one, but still doesn't know how to be a proper royal (neither does anyone else in the family), Lucina is smart yeah, but not with common sense. And Morgan is gifted with Robin's intelligence, but somehow manages it to only put it to making traps and finding ways to use Falchion as anything else but a sword.

Frederick x Sumia - Frederick is a perfectionist that married a complete clutz. And Frederick was a complete sweetheart during their conversations. He was so patient with her and never gave her a hard time for her mistakes. Plus Cynthia is practically Sumia who is hyped up on coffee 24/7. So for Frederick to have to deal with his chaotic family everyday, is not only wholesome, but hilarious.

Vaike x Lissa - Vaike was willing to discard his rivalry with Chrom to make Lissa happy when he proposed to her. And he respected her and Chrom for being a royal and not having a boujee attitude. And he said Lissa was "beautiful as a goddess" Plus a big bonus for this ship is that Vaike's and Chrom's rivalry seemed to be passed down to Owain and Morgan

Maribelle x Ricken - I love the fact that both of them are Ylissean nobles and Ricken always tries to prove himself to others that he is not a child but he also wants to restore his house to it's former glory. But a cool little parallel to Ricken and Maribelles relationship is that Maribelle did the same thing to Ricken what she does to Lissa, when Ricken saved her from Gangrel. She became overprotective and tried to get him out of the shepherds in an attempt to protect him

Lon'qu x Cherche - Cherche (being the best girl as always) is the one (out of two) who lifted the burden off of Lon'qu about Ke'ri. Gerome being Lon'qu kid kinda makes sense too. I imagine Gerome is a big loner compared to the rest of the Future Shepherds.

Stahl x Cordelia - This is purely because i think Stahl and Cordelia are neat and Cordelia was the first girl i S-supported when i first got the game 10 years ago. And because im a fool, i figured to put two of my favorite people together. But i will say this tho, Severa with Stahl's hair color is not bad

Henry x Olivia - I feel like this is probably the most chaotic family outta all my favorite ships. Henry is just a lovable killing machine. Olivia is an adorable crit/killing machine. And the stats they give Inigo aint too bad neither. Henry's and Olivia's C support made me fall in love with Henry's character. But Im going to ignore the copy-paste supports with Henry getting mad at Inigo in the B support because its somewhat out of character. But i feel like both Henry and Olivia are always compassionate to their son. Olivia is the tender one, who showers Inigo with love and affection and Henry is the one who always makes sure Inigo never loses his smile. (And completely unrelated to the ship by Inigo having Plegian blood is kinda cool because i ship him with Lucina and she too has Plegian blood, soooo.... yea)

Those are pretty much it. Everyone else is either because i dont use them or they dont have supports other than Robin

DOL x FE AWAKENING AU because I love Fire Emblem and need an excuse to talk about it! To make this easy on my brain, all the LIs are male for this.

Whitney: Started off as a bandit I think. Definitely from Plegia, and got recruited by Chrom and the Shepherds after a skirmish. He’d have the fighter class, and would probably get along with people like Sully, Vaike and Gaius? I can also somehow see him supporting with Lissa for some reason? Imagine Whitney!Owain and how hilarious that would be.

Whitney as a parent in this AU would pretty much be the same as his main source counterpart. Absolutely amazing, and would feel so awful that he died in the future and couldn’t protect his kid. He’d do their best trying to make up for lost time and do amazing at it.

Kylar: Would be a Plegian dark mage. I feel like between them and Tharja, he’d tie for being the most obsessive. Much like Tharja, Kylar would immediately be infatuated with (FE) Robin and want to join so they can devote himself to them. Aside from (FE) Robin, I can see Kylar supporting well with Henry, Tharja for the funny, and Kellam.

Kylar as a parent in this AU would be awkward as hell. He’d really try their best, but it would be hard for him. He would also be insanely jealous of this kid because he wants their mom’s attention to himself. Maybe that’s something he and his kid would go through in their support chain?

Sydney: Priest Sydney is too easy to pass up. Devoted to Naga, and loyal to the Exalt, Sydney would be an excellent addition to the Shepherds. Definitely takes on more than he can chew though. It isn’t Sydney if he isn’t overworking himself. He’d have an amazing support chain with Libra. There’s no way those two aren’t friends. I also wanna see him be friends with Gaius. Other supports would probably be Maribelle, Olivia, and Cordelia.

Sydney as a parent wouldn’t be as amazing as Whitney, but still kind, and loving. He’d be devastated to know that he died and wasn’t there to protect his child from the horrors of the world. I feel like he’d do his best to care for them just as he would have in the future.

Robin: Having the same name as the army’s tactician definitely causes some confusion! There’s probably jokes here and there about it too. Our boy Robin would be an archer, and has most likely been with the Shepherds from the start. Would probably support with Sumia, Lissa, and Nowi.

Robin as a parent would be pretty okay I think. He wouldn’t have much to offer in terms of wisdom, but is there to listen to any grievances his kid had about the future and Grima’s reign of terror.

chrom/sumia obvs im not an idiot. usual inheritance goes (galeforce from sumia, aether from chrom). this run i had lucy go through sage and that wasnt great but it wasnt terrible either. ds+ and tomefaire gave it way more oomph than lucys raw magic would suggest. what else could lucy do if i want to give her a beast mode... hmm. i want to keep her in a sword class if i can. bow knight i guess after she finishes great lord

I saw an I think YouTube video? I vaguely forget? Going over fire emblems queerness specifically with tellius but discussed the background of other games too and they said some interesting stuff about m!chrobin. Basically they were recounting how sumia was positioned as Chroms close to canon wife likely as a reference to Marth and Caeda, blue haired lord x Pegasus knight. But sumia didn’t end up being very popular overall, we don’t really get much content for her now. Other pairings like f!Robin and ngl Olivia seemed to be more popular and in terms of as a character Cordelia seemed to be the favored Pegasus knight. but intsys doesn’t really like confirming pairings, especially for the more modern games where there are a lot more options, so every time chrobin gets paired together it’s m!Robin to avoid looking like they’re biased or suggesting one pairing is more canon. Thus we get m/m chrobin for heroes and engage and it ends up being unintentionally quite gay in an effort to look like they’re not confirming a pairing. Interesting to think about and kind of funny

Doing my “research” of reading relevant awakening supports to do some writing where I marry Chrom off to someone who isn’t Robin and I’ve come to the conclusion that Sully and Olivia are the most well-written supports for Chrom that aren’t male Robin. Chrom’s got a lot of “ladies are x” in his brain and he’s essentially a solider so him being comfortable around Sully makes sense and it also shares a throughline with his f!Robin support of learning to see her as a woman and a wife but shhh

Of those two, him marrying Olivia is both the funniest and most plausible solution to my conundrum just for the text alone because, well, Chrom is nineteen. He and Olivia are presumably, uh, very physically attracted to each other, things go from there. She’s confident dancing on the battlefield, but less confident dancing in private, put two and two together and, uh, maybe she gets comfortable by putting on a private dance for Chrom? Listen I used to be a theater kid this is plausible Chrom smiles more around her, does his best to impress her in his nineteen year old way, and she’s like “wait a charming handsome prince wants to marry me? Sign me up.”

Like, sure, Sumia makes more sense from their special little cutscene together and is the obvious default wife for Chrom but I wasn’t buying it just from the writing. And mostly from a drama perspective, “Chrom shows no obvious interest in anyone besides Robin and ends up whatever the exalt version of shotgun marriage is to avoid a succession crisis is but they are happy enough, considering.
