I had the opportunity to meet Neil Newbon at Fan Expo Canada this year (2024). It was my second time going to this event and I enjoyed hanging out with my friends.

I’m cosplaying as Hugo from Suikoden 3. He’s a dream cosplay of mine. I will post more pictures as soon as I get some results back from the kind photographer who worked with me to get some cool shots.

And so now it’s back to reality. Back to work. Back to real life. But for the first time in a long time I’m feeling motivated. I hope it sticks long enough for me to make some fun content.

Happy Nanami Day (7/3)!💕💗🌸🍵 I'm pretty sure my Nanami cosplay doesn't fit me anymore, so I'll probably have to commission someone to remake the top for me before I'm able to stream the remaster🤣 (which still doesn't have a release date if I recall😭) It originally was a maxi dress I got on bezosmart that I cut up and sewed sleeves from a separate blouse onto. I dyed the sleeves yellow since they were white. The white zigzags are craft foam handsewn onto the extra pink fabric at the bottom of the sleeves. & lots of bias tape that was a pain in the butt😭 The maxi dress as you can tell is made of stretchy but really TIGHT fabric. and I made this in 2016 when I was way less squishy than I am now 😂 I should've made it out of a more cotton base shirt, but that's what learning is all about XD

EXTRA Entry!

Character: Futch Series: Genso Suikoden III by Konami

This is the only costume I made for my brother that I had no part in otherwise. Futch is his favorite Suikoden 3 character and I found it challenging so I agreed to make it for him! Eventually I was suppose to cosplay another Suikoden character, and we do have some plans for the future, that we'll see if they pan out!

The headband was made from cardboard (base), spray painted PVC pleather, tacky glue, craft wire, and ribbon. The wig was a Cosworx Clover-L in color 6. I cut and styled it. The ascot was crepe cut into a simple square. Double stitched; handstitched first hem, machine straight-stitched second. The tunic was made from simple cotton fabric. Made the pattern from a tank top. The armband was just a strip of leftover fabric from tunic.

The light body armor was made from black vinyl with black cotton trim. I used 6 1-inch buckles; 3 on either side with 12 rivets and strips of cotton. The vinyl was cut to shape, then the black cotton trim was sewn over. Buckles were from eJoyce. Rivets and setter kit from Michael's. The original shoulder armor you see here was made from Sculpey, but it honestly looks pretty bad and eventually broke. He had his buddy, Uneven Pictures, remake it for him later on!

Last little bits... the grey sash was made from broadcloth. Simple rectangle; hemmed. 10 rivets to make the belt loops, which are sewn in anyway. Velcro is used to keep it in place. The actual waist belt is just more black vinyl and a 2.5" buckle. The hanging straps were more black vinyl and 11 nailheads at the bottom. They were sewn to grey belt sash. I actually made the gloves, but up close they're horrible. Pattern was just tracing the hand on some brown vinyl, and stretchy light brown cotton for straps. More black vinyl for the top bits.

The boots were Captain-100s bought from Cosworx and I used leftover grey fabric for the fold-over bits, and left over tunic fabric for the straps. The pants were just black Dickies.

My brother spent a lot of time crafting the sword, but we were so green at prop making that it didn't pan out the way he'd hoped. I think he's remade it nowadays.

Nanami (Suikoden 2)

This was a pretty simple project, I only had to make the top for her. I decided on doing a pink linen matched with a poly twill for the sleeves. I wanted something woven and looked fairly natural looking that would fit into the setting. The back has a simple zipper so the customer can get in and out of it easily!

AX '08-22 - The Prince and Lady Sialeeds '08 was my second, and probably favorite, year at Anime Expo. For one thing, changing the venue from Long Beach to Downtown LA made it a much shorter trip, combined with the (then) larger space to work with. That, and I borrowed my roommate's camera and got more cosplay photos than any other year I went, when I bumped into the young Prince and Lady Sialeeds out and about. :)

More Suikoden art because work was slow for portions of yesterday afternoon and I felt like drawing lots of graceful billowing fabric, and Leknaat is really good for that.

Also a cosplay I want to bring out again, but my next con is Youmacon and I wore her there just a few Youmacons ago (not counting the years it didn't happen due to pandemic, so probably like 5 years now...)

👻🎃HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN🎃👻 . Day 16 (slightly early) October 31, 2009 . In ‘09 the Chibi had really gotten into Suikoden V and wanted to be Prince Freyjadour Falenas, so I, as always provided. After combing through all the characters, I decided to tackle Queen Arshtat since I thought it would be novel to be the mom of the character in cosplay while being the actual mom of the Chibi cosplaying. Plus, I just liked Arshtat’s outfit and wanted to give it a go. Problem was that we had a lotttttt of stuff going on that year, issues in the marriage, the ex getting himself fired from his job on purpose, us losing half our income, dramus all around and I grossly, and I do mean grossly, underestimated the sheer amount of details in both our costumes and the time in which I would need for them. Got the Chibi’s done, including all the leatherwork I did for it (the breast plate, gauntlets and shoe tops were hand tooled and painted leather), and the hand bleaching and gradient dying of her scarf -save me having to ghetto up her mitts a little because lack of time, but mine. Mine was another story. I managed to get the main body of it done, and while I started the crown (scroll for deets, last couple of pics are all the in progress shots, mainly of the crown), I ran out of time to finish it, my wig, and the front belts to my dress -despite staying up for weeks/days on end, including the entire night before Halloween and literally getting zero sleep on the actual day. So I defaulted on using my Yuna wig, sans the tail (I got a lot of use out of that wig, lol), and called it good because I had no other choice but to. I was so tired that day, my glob. At least I (mostly) finished the Chibi’s? One of these days we plan to revisit this cosplay set since we still have them, just as I still have what progress I did of the crown so maybe then I can finally finish my Arshtat and will be able to call it complete. I’m finally getting around to sharing some Hugo pictures. I’m so bad at this social media thing 😣

This cosplay is super fun!…and very difficult. Soooo many friggin’ pieces!! Just ask prettynerdycosplay (on insta) and how it turned her sewing machine red 😆 I’m so sorry about that 🥲 I commissioned her to make the shirt, pants, vest, tunic, belt and leg guards….and she did an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC JOB OMG! Please support her by giving her a follow. She’s so sweet and bubbly!

I made the accessories, shoes, armguards and wig (though I did have a little help given great tips from another friend for styling)

The necklace was the most fun to make! 💕

This is one #dream cosplay down…more to go.

I’m so grateful for my friends. If not for them and my love for cosplay, I’d be even more of a shut-in.

Happy anniversary to Suikoden V & RIP to Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of Suikoden💔 When I was in high school, I stumbled upon Suikoden V at a game store & bought it due to its pretty cover art, not knowing I'd fall in love with the characters as much as I did. Lyon means so much to me😭 Murayama-san will surely be missed, and I'm very much looking forward to my Suikoden series & Eiyuden Chronicles streams that I already planned once the 1+2 remaster comes out. I've only played 2 and V, so I can't wait to experience the rest and Eiyuden. I hope spreading the love of these amazing games that he put all his heart into will inspire others!
